Suspicious Package Found At Angela Merkel's Office

Tyler Durden's picture

From Der Tagesspiegel (google translated):

In
the chancellery in Berlin, is for information of the Tagesspiegel on
Tuesday afternoon a package was found in an article in which the
suspected explosive is on ..

The application was in progress, it said in security circles. The subject had arrived in the mail was being examined for explosives, it said. Last week, Al Qaeda had
sent from Yemen two parcel bombs, one of which was transferred to the
airport Cologne-Bonn in a cargo plane in the nedirection of the UK.
Both bombs contained several hundred grams of high explosive PETN. The Chancellor's Office announced an opinion for the afternoon.

Previously, on Tuesday already escaped the German embassy in Athens just a stop. Athens again was a whole series of parcel bombs were sent to foreign embassies, including against the German representative. According to police, were on Tuesday found a total of five packages of
explosives, which were causing no harm, therefore, however.

Employees of the Swiss embassy discovered a package bomb and threw them into the courtyard of the building where it exploded. The remaining four parcel bombs were explosives experts defused some of the Greek Police by controlled explosions. They were the ambassadors of Germany, Bulgaria, Chile and Russia addressed to. Good lord. It seems to me that a brand new package of BVD's found in the sock area of WalMart would qualify as a "suspicious package" these days.

It sure does look like the public consciousness is being properly primed for an "event" of such magnitude that we might need to surrender the few remaining liberties and rights we "enjoy" in order to save ourselves from the fictitious Boogie Man.

I'm always amazed how competent the "terrorists" are when fighting our troops in Iraq or Afghanistan and how incompetent they are with much simpler tasks. I wonder why?

Mother, will they put me in the firing line?
Is it just a waste of time?

Hush now baby, baby, don't you cry

Hush now baby, baby, don't you cry

It's the stupid and undisciplined that tend to reach for the explosives. With predictable results.

Well, it's popular around here to make various claims of who is The Most Dangerous Man To America.

Given that the FBI is supposedly both the first and last line of defense of the Rule Of Law in America and they are doing nothing about the mega-crimes of the gangster oligarchs on Wall Street, I'd have to say that FBI Director Mueller is The Most Dangerous Man To America.  Without law enforcement, you have to expect that criminals will run wild.  That's what they do.

It's Mueller who's making it possible

Why are we afraid to talk about such things?  Seems to me our fears have gotten away from us.  Patriot Act, etc.  I say we should speak our minds without breaking laws and see what comes of it.  The alternative is to silence ourselves on the most truly important issues.

I hear all kinds of bitching about the death of the Rule of Law.  How about we start pointing fingers at the criminally negligent head of the FBI: Director Mueller?

It seems insane to me that nobody dare speak his name.

Whether he has undercover agents among us or not.  Maybe they will be encouraged to do a little thinking themselves.

Tue, 11/02/2010 - 12:24 | 693461 tmosley

Thermite is just iron and aluminum, finely shaved.  It is far from surprising that there would be residue of iron and aluminum after a large, uncontrolled, extremely hot fire like that.

Given that the other two towers had by this time been undermined, it is not surprising that a fire could have spread through the tunnels connecting the buildings, causing the collapse of 7WTC.

Such large and totally uncontrolled fires in office buildings are rare to the point of non-existence.  9/11 created an unprecedented mode of building failure that is certain to leave some odd things in its wake.

The fact is that if 9/11 were really a conspiracy, there would have been whistleblowers.  Dozens of people would have had to have been involved, and murdering thousands of Americans probably would have caused at least one of them to break ranks.

Its not so much the question that it collapsed, but how it collapsed. It fell into its own footprint, and if you watch the video closely you will be able to see the structure (penthouse?) on top of WTC7 start to fall before the main structure falls. Falling debris and fire doesn't explain this.

Just checked it. Yup, pretty much all of it is there within it's own footprint. Even NIST admitted as much in it's final report. That building didn't "fall" south, it imploded basically straight down.

Notice how the sides and front are neatly folded in. Brilliant job actually. Too bad mother nature is never this neat. This is clearly man made. This building WAS 47 stories tall. The buildings on either side were less than 20. See how undamaged they are considering what just happened.

There were two separate collapse events, though they were separated by only about a minute.  All it would take to generate the effect you saw would be for one girder, or one support beam to collapse.  The structure was sound enough to stand for some 50 seconds after that.

The heat from this fire was fantastic, not something you see in normal structural fires, and 7WTC burned from the basement, so it makes perfect sense that it collapsed into its own footprint.  When the basement level support burns away, the building collapses into the big hole beneath it.  This is pretty simple.

Yes, the US caused 9/11.  No, they were not involved in the planning.  This was simple blowback from US meddling in the Middle East.  End of story.  You want to make sure this kind of thing doesn't happen again?  Dismantle our military empire.  No need to go chasing fairy tales.

Tue, 11/02/2010 - 15:07 | 693811 Rick64
Rick64's picture

Ok so the fire that caused the building to collapse started in the lower floors, and the fire started to collapse the structure at the top of the building before it caused the bottom floors to collapse, and the building was 47 stories high. This defies logic.

Also WTC 4 & 6 didn't collapse, why? WTC 4 was burned completely yet the northern section didn't collapse, and it had debris fall on it too, crushing part of the building. This is the difference between normal collapse and demolition.

"7WTC burned from the basement"

Wouldn't this cause you to ask the question "why was it burning from the basement"?  Are you saying that, as a result of two planes hitting two buildings that were not building 7, building 7 spontaneously caught fire, in the basement, and imploded, with no intervention or involvement whatsoever?

Really?  Who's chasing the fairy tales dude?  And keep in mind, I lost my brother because of this, I'd much rather blame somebody other than the government of the country I reside in.

Tue, 11/02/2010 - 14:43 | 693935 Batty Koda
Batty Koda's picture

Got any evidence to back up these claims? What reason do you have to believe "there were two seperate collapse events"?

Was there a thermometer in the building to back up your claim that "the heat from this fire was fantastic"?

Any video footage of these fires in the basement?

No, I thought not. You either just made all that up or popular mechanics made it up for you. The fires in WTC7 were regular office fires, nothing special about them, as you can imagine office fires aren't all that rare.

The NIST report on the collapse of WTC7 states that the building fell at free fall acceleration for at least one second, this means that for a full second of the collapse there was a  net resistive force of ZERO acting against the collapse. The building had supportive beams inside it outer walls, these beams would have provided a significant resistive force to the collapse of the building. Therefore they must have been cut with explosives to allow the building to collapse in the manner it did.

This suggests that the building was brought down by controlled demolition not fires.

Tue, 11/02/2010 - 18:16 | 694442 psychobilly
psychobilly's picture

NIST was embarrassed into conceding technical free fall for 2.6 seconds, not 1 second.  People who genuinely don't understand the significance of this are either ignorant, or simply incapable of understanding schoolboy level physics.

There weren't two separate collapse events.  You can precisely measure when the collapse of WTC7 starts by measuring when the top corners of the building begin to drop.  The entire collapse is only fractions of a second off free fall.

What these fake internet shill sites are trying to make out as two separate collapses is really the middle support being blown first (and the penthouse collapsing as a result), which is exactly what we would expect to see in a controlled demolition.  This is done first to get the building collapsing in on itself.

What the believers in the government's 9/11 story are essentially claiming with regard to the WTC buildings is that we should ignore the scientific hypothesis that fits ALL of the available empirical evidence and go with the hypothesis that fits NONE of the available empirical evidence.

I don't get it.

Why is demolitions an occupation? Why don't we just set fire to skyscrapers and let them fall into their own footprints. Do you understand the non-linearity involved here?

What I am constantly being told and what I've read from NIST and others just doesn't match up with what my eyes see in the footage. I really think that if fires did cause the collapse, it would look very different.

You understand that the fire induced collapse theory was implanted into our brains from the moment the towers collapsed. It's kind of like predictive programming.

Then bush stands in front of the podium at the UN and declares:

Then we only need the self-policing populace to play their role and follow the leaders by beating into the dust any and every inquiry into the event.

You can pretend that your mind is invulnerable to the continual psychological operations brought upon you, or you can entertain the possibility that you too are being played.

I guess you missed the part where it was NOT a perfect collapse into it's own footprint.  The dust wall was full of dangerous materials.  Everyone that was exposed to it got sick.  Downtown was wrecked for weeks.  The economy almost collapsed.

False flags are great, but this one was a bit too spectacular to be one.  If they had wanted a false flag, they would have sunk another navel vessel, assassinated the president, or some high up politico, or just about anything else.

In any event, even if you are right, you only look crazy by making this argument.  That crazy will affect anything else you ever say.

I don't claim to know what happened, but I know enough to see that there is no bulletproof case for the government having been behind 9/11.  There are too many things that could have gone wrong, and too many people would have had to be involved, and someone would have been horrified by the act and spoken out.  This did not happen.

People don't want to accept Occums Razor.  The simplest explanation is that a group of terrorists flew a couple of planes into a couple of buildings in response to decades of abuse from the USA.  No nonsensical CIA operation required.

What I mean by 'perfect collapse into it's own footprint' is that it didn't tip over and smack the building next to it.

"there is no bulletproof case for the government having been behind 9/11"

I never stated that at all. I will state that the real fairy tale here is the official story. It is full of holes and unanswered questions.

"People don't want to accept Occums Razor" (sic)

I will accept occam's razor where it applies. However, I have found Occam's razor to be practically useless in the real world. It says don't over complicate things.

If you apply Occam's razor to the natural world, isn't it much simpler to say that God did everything than to try and develop quantum mechanics?

Occam's razor is nice, but its not compelling evidence of anything within this discussion.

I cannot believe that this is even a topic of discussion till this date.

Let me tell you all a little freakiness.

Remember how all the steel was hauled away almost overnight (what was not smouldering for weeks on end). Instead of a test lab, it was sold to scrap dealers.

Well, a bunch of it came to India. On a flight one day, I sat next to the lawyers of one of the largest steel scrap importers in India. He said it was amazing the speed and price with which the deals went through.

7 years later, Otis installed thousands of radioactive steel buttons sourced from India.

Go figure...

Actually, not all all of the steel was shipped off.

More than 170 areas on the steel recovered from the Twin Towers were examined for evidence of fire exposure.  According to NIST (http://wtc.nist.gov/media/PublicUpdateFinal.pdf), the steel was selected from the areas that experienced fire and impact damage, and was adequate for estimating the maximum temperature reached by the steel.

These tests revealed yet another huge problem for the believers in the government's 9/11 story: only 3 out of the 170 locations indicated temperatures above 250 C, and one of these three appeared to have experienced temperatures above 250 C after the collapse.  There was no evidence on any of the steel examined of any temperatures above 600 C for any significant length of time.  Since the physical evidence neglected to support NIST's pre-conceived conclusions, they just ignored it, and pulled the max temperatures used in their black box models out of their ass.

The fires were just what they appeared:  diffuse, short-lived, oxygen-starved, with max temperatures about what we would expect for this kind of a fire.  Neither hot enough nor lasting long enough to significantly weaken even unfireproofed structural steel.

tmosley, you are a scientist, and as you may have learned, science has no place in a faith-based debate.

Nobody cares than the tallest structure ever purposely brought down by explosives was 27 stories, and required hundreds of man-hours and access to every part of the structure to set the charges. Nobody wants to do the calcs on kinetic energy. Nobody wants to know how the structural integrity of steel is lessened by upwards of 60% hundreds of degrees below steel's melting point, but at temperatures created by burning office furniture and room fixtures. Nobody wants to see the photos of the south tower's top 35 floors buckling exactly where the jet struck it, towards the impact point, moments before that collapse initiated the fall of the entire structure. Nobody wants to know that aluminum can melt, mix with ancillary combustible material, then pour out of the buckling floors where the jet came to rest. Nobody wants to know that concentrating a lot of kj's of energy under pressure can cause fires to burn for weeks. Nobody wants to know that WTC7 was struck by debris from the falling twins, was on fire for hours, was built over a ConEdison substation, and had a structure that rested a majority of its weight on an internal atrium. Nobody wants to know that firefighters "pulled" their crews from WTC7 hours before it fell because they feared its imminent collapse.

Conspiracy is so much more fun, and it needn't make any sense. Hey, don't you know the BBC said WTC7 already fell when it was clearly visible in the background as their reporter spoke (this is silly nine ways from Sunday...."Dewey Defeats Truman!"). I wonder how many people knew what a WTC7 was on 9-10-2001, or even midway through 9-11 itself would know a WTC7 if they saw one? And wouldn't you think the collapse of two 110 story towers would be enough without tossing in WTC7 for good measure? I mean, if they really wanted spectacle, why bring the things down straight when they could have sent one toward Battery Park and the other toward SoHo? Could it be that large steel beam structures, as opposed to reinforced concrete structures like in Oklahoma, collapse exactly the way we saw on 911?

As for whistleblowers, don't you know that all those GS-13 to SISIII types at the CIA, who can earn upwards of $180K per year, are far too well off and infinitely too ruthless and sinister to spill their guts for a multimillion dollar fee? I mean, if they spoke they'd lose their license to kill, too.

Occams Razor indeed.

As you may be painfully aware, there is no room for debate on ZeroHedge. Just as George Bush sort of said, "you're either with us, or you're a paid disinformant".

chindit,

Once again we find you demonstrating your gross ignorance on this topic.  The tallest building ever brought down by controlled demolition (before 9/11) was 47 stories, not 27 stories.

As far as all your hand waving about the integrity of steel and temperatures created by burning office furniture, there is no need for your uninformed speculation.  NIST examined the steel from the impact and fire areas and found that the steel did not get even remotely as hot as you are suggesting.

That's a bunch of useless distraction. The only FACT you need to know about the Twin Towers is that they collapsed at free-fall speeds. The ONLY way that can happen within the confines of the laws of physics, is by a controlled demolition.

Science is as subject to manipulation as anything else. It depends on the data used and the integrity of the author. You are assuming that your government is all honorable intentions and actions. Have you been paying attention? The same government that told the people of New York to just vacuum up that white dust on their windowsills?

Science is not anymore authoritative than voodoo in the right hands. If you need additional data, read about medicine development for example. Great science there. To think, all it does is kill people. While not all climate data is wrong, it never helps when people admit to "fudging" the data to get the result they want. Is this the science you speak so highly of?

In the early sixties, the sugar manufacturers wanted a "scientific" report to support sugar being benign in its' effects. They went to Harvard. Bought them a building. Got their report. How about the "Negro brain is smaller than the Caucasian brain, therefore they are not as intelligent" science. Or, that Xrays will cure cancer science.

Science is a tool for discovery. When used as a religion to bludgeon the sensibilities of us all- it is immoral and deadly- like many religions (Catholic Church). A tool is only as good as its' master.

This is why they always turn to personal ad hominem attacks and endless name calling. They aren't trying to convince you to change your views. They simply want to keep the undecided and wavering away by promising them through example that they'll be viciously attacked if they cross over. For those who don't like to be verbally or emotionally assaulted, that's enough to keep them safely within the "I don't want to get involved in this" side lines.

Suspect Package Found at Merkel's Office Published: Tuesday, 2 Nov 2010 | 11:30 AM ET Text Size By: Reuters

German police found a suspicious package in the post at Chancellor Angela Merkel's office in Berlin on Tuesday, a government spokesman said.

Merkel was not in the building at the time.

"A suspicious package was found in the post office of the chancellery," the spokesman said. "It can't be ruled out that the package contains explosives. The investigation is continuing. No one has been injured."

A Reuters photographer saw police tighten security measures outside the central Berlin office of Merkel, who was out of the country at the time on a visit to Belgium.

Yemen says UPS planes never take off or land in it

[30/October/2010]

SANA'A, Oct. 30 (Saba) – No UPS cargo planes left Yemen to other countries in the last days and there are no direct flights from Yemen to the United Kingdom or the United States, a Yemeni official said, after allegations that British and U.S. officials had found suspicious packages on planes that originated in Yemen.

The official wondered how the media mentioned the name of Yemen reporting that an explosive device was found onboard a cargo plane that landed in London coming from Yemen.

UPS planes never land or take off in Yemen, the official made clear.

The security measures at Yemeni airports are tightened and the authorities search passengers and luggage well, the official said, adding that Yemen has recently installed modern checking systems that can detect dangerous or suspicious materials to the safety of passengers and planes.

We urge the media not to make hasty judgments about sensitive issues and the media should wait until investigations reveal the truth, the official said, as he pointed out that Yemen has launched an investigation into the allegations and planned to coordinate with the United Arab Emirates, Britain and the U.S. over the issue.

Yemen is determined to continue the war on terror in cooperation with the international community until it roots out all terrorists who pose threat to all, the official concluded.
