1) there are lots of kool-aid drinkers supporting Tesla. There are also serious investors such as Daimler, Toyota, Volkswagen, etc.
2) EVs will make good business sense when gas is $8/gal. Until such time, having the best auto production company in the world (Toyota) build your cars is a pretty good way to compete with other auto companies
3) The IPO was indeed a success for Tesla. They raised $240mm. To those saying Elon Musk is a one hit wonder, what do you call the Space X launch from a few weeks ago?
IMO Tesla will evolve into a powertrain company that will be sold to a huge OEM as time goes on. The Model S will be another step towards making EVs a reasonable choice rather than an extreme statement of faith in cleantech (i.e. the Roadster).
To the Detroit guy above, your pessimism is the reason I left your industry. I know how to build stuff, too, and what Tesla is trying to do is not impossible. There's just zero room for error. Such sentiment should be reflected in its equity pricing.
So explain to me folks: A company which did not pretend to be anything else than it is - a bold experiment for its version of a better world which might fail - ipo-ed at 17, a couple of complete idiots bought for 30 shortly after, and a week into its listing, it's back at ipo-level, well, 90 c lower. How does this constitute "total disaster"?
Really this is a great post from an expert and thank you very much for sharing this valuable information with us..................... windows vps | cheap vps | cheap hosting | forex vps
