There Goes Gold

Tyler Durden's picture

There probably is a reason for the sudden move higher in gold, but we don't know or care. At this point the end of Ponzism is a given. Just a matter of time. Next stop for gold $2,000, then various multiples of $1,000 after. But first, the all time nominal high of $1,577 from May 2.

And Longer-Term:

Gold is completely in a bubble. Get out while you still can. It is so extremely over priced, unlike linkedin. I will be willing to buy one's gold bullion for half price.

Any takers?

That, in one short post is the problem with bonds and the stock market as investments today. I think everyone who's just started studying this subject should memorize it. Any kind of inflation is a bitch if your timeline is measured in years. People have a really hard time with the fact that when they netted out 11% on their mutual fund in two years; they made nothing. Everyone needs to think purchasing power, purchasing power, purchasing power, until it's automatic.

Right. Well anybody who is actually thinking correctly when they hear inflation should realize what that means. How can you continue to make the work you have done in the past, worth what it was worth. Therefore compiling your lifes work and saving to be able to do or use something of it. This is the question of the century (or two).

Ya, of course.  JPM et al. bid it up in advance, and monkey hammered it down previously.

They know QE3 is coming, and this shit about "some FOMC member thinking about QE3" is another way to get the toe wet before jumping in so PM's don't go parabolic.

All fed members know QE3 is coming.  They all know the plan.  The governments role is to manage public perception and not create hysteria, so "a few" members think QE3 is warranted.  Next week, a few more.  Next month, a few more.

Otherwise silver and gold go straight up.

In the interim Blythe beats it back down.

Gold Holders, governments can and will do anything including the application of 95% taxes to "windfall profits" in gold.  After all, only "rich" people buy gold.

At the present moment, profits on Gold and Silver gained thru buying and selling contracts on the Comex; pay simple income tax. Trying to point out what the Comex is for. It's not the Silver store; it's the place where you make dollar profits that you're going to spend, like this Christmas, for instance when my dollar profits will become usable. The IRS taxes all futures trading as simple income; Yes, this might change but it require anouncements and discussions and etc. it won't be a surprise.

I tend to "only" look at the Gold/Silver ratio, with gold taking the role of base money... a ratio of above 43 = free silver!

for each ounce of base money, you get more than 43 ounces of silver at the moment!!!!

very soon it will drop back under the comfortable 40, and then lower.

No , this website is a magnet for "truthseekers" and therefore youll find the signal:ratio is far clearer than most media outlets.   I still get looked at as a madman whenever i bring up Gold with friends , family and coworkers. I work in finance with so called "smart" people who have their fair share of "fiat". And no one owns gold.   We're a long way from worrying about gold becomming crowded and frothy.

Gold is ridiculously underpriced given the math involved in the financial markets.

What should scare anyone who doesn't have gold/silver is that so many people who pay attention to financial markets and the "news behind the news" all seem to believe the same thing when virtually every mainstream financial pundit out there including the Oracle says gold/silver bugs are nutty.
