Third Time's a Charm- GMAC in Talks For Round Three of Aid

Travis's picture

Yesterday, Consumer Reports, according to their "surveys," Ford is the only American make worth a damn.

GM is improving and Chrysler, well, they really suck.

Should we still nickel-and-dime GM and Chrysler through GMAC or just trade-them-in?

why the F*CK can't this administration CUT THE SHIAT with this already???  WHY do they continue to fire-hose tax dollars to these bullshiat, antiquated dinosaurs?  Oh, wait - our public schools simply couldn't be finer, healthcare is the bestest EVAR, things are super duper awesome everywharz, so yeah, I guess there's nothing better to do than help the poor, widdle car companies and sad, lonely widdle banks with all that extra moneh.  OMG, the insane FAIL of this (and previous) administration(s) is SICKENING.

Transparency? "Change"? What a steaming, gargantuan load of HORSESHIAT.  I feel utterly and completely snowed, Mr. President et al.  You (collectively) have taken campaign lies to levels of false previously unknown.  Un-f*cking-BELIEVABLE.

Timmy's investment strategy with taxpayer dollars,

GMAC goes bust
Call Goldman
Buy GMAC
GMAC falls another 8%
Call Goldman
Buy GMAC
GMAC falls another 8%

Wonder if this thought would work - instead of propping up the walking dead, why doesn't the government let them die - and provide the money or incentives to whom ever in the market would likely eventually fill the void left my GMAC's departure.

Any takers?

We've simply lost control of the outcomes of our own nation. And to think this has taken place over the course of about 60 years. Yes, it has never been a perfect system etc etc but now the populace is truly in a trance, can't see past its own collective nose and suffers from such poor propaganda/education that it almost feels helpless or is helpless, like a child which is probably what the govt. wants.

Let the fucking bank fail, all those shit ass institutions should have failed and the govt. the govt. should have backstopped lending while the top bankers went to jail and the Fortress Banks got broken up and sorted out. Instead we have a continual burning of not even taxpayer money, but printed money.

This isn't the country that my parents envisioned or their parents envisioned. This is a perpetual nightmare which is all the more sad because we all know how this one ends, it will end the same no matter what, it has to...but the "cures" these Admin. idiots have dreamed up may be far worse than the eventual end.

Endless bailouts, handouts and giveaways, paid for with borrowed or printed money. Punishing the responsible to prop-up the politically connected. If jobs was really the aim, why let CIT fail?

But the folks aren’t buying the massive spending as good. From Rasmussen “38% Say Deficit Reduction Top Priority”.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/mood_of_america/budget_priorities

And daily I read stories criticizing Banana Ben for irresponsible money printing.

I think they’re running out of people to fool. . . as noted on ZH recent post of CNBC viewer ratings.

WTF. I am so tired of this bashing of the American car industry. Over and over, article, comments, and pessimism about the industry's future. If you paid attention, you would know that Ford has come up with a technology to make your dashboard lights whatever color you choose. Wake up, they're making real strides in what is needed. Too bad they're a little late. Back in the sixties, you rolled a fat one, dashboard lights were whatever you chose, PLUS you had an upgraded sound system.

Do we have C4C to thank for this? Did everyone who got a new car fail to make the first payment? This should be expected of GMAC when they must have been ordered by the government to finance anyone willing to trade in their old car for free money from the government.

Ford has *always* been the only American make worth a damn (of the big 3 at least), with the sole exception of the Corvette.

Americans have consistently punished manufacturers of superior automobiles over 100 years of time. Which is why this country no longer manufactures Packards, Hudsons, Pierce-Arrows, Stutz's, Cords, or Dusenbergs.

Lincoln and Mercury, of course, are merly a pathetic mockery of their incarnation as independent car companies.

In autoland, medioctity rules.
