Today's Economic Data Docket - The "Other" (Accounting For 70% Of The US Economy) ISM
Quiet day today, with just Challenger layoffs data and the non-manufacturing ISM, which incidentally may be a tad more important as services account fof about 70% of the US economy.
7:30: Challenger job cuts (June). Likely still low. Announced layoffs have remained very low in recent months, in contrast with the modest uptick in jobless claims.
10:00: ISM non-manufacturing index (June): Small decline. We forecast that the non-manufacturing ISM index declined slightly to 54.0 in June, after a 54.6 in May (and 52.8 in April). Although down from the highs in Q1, this level historically has been consistent with healthy growth in the economy overall.
GS: 54.0; median forecast (of 70): 53.7; last 54.6.
