I was recently audited by the kind and considerate IRS. After the audit was done and all papers were signed (so they couldn't try to screw me anymore) I asked the agent and her supervisor (who was there in the room at the time to "accept" the audit findings) what they thought of "Turbo Tax Timmy", my exact words.

They both blushed and said nothing. It seems that at least within my local IRS shake down office and measured by the standards of the IRS even the agents are embarrassed by Timmy.

I was audited by the IRS a couple of years ago and it was a pure sham. I had a small business and that only thing the agent went through was my day trading activities and home deductions. I had a second home and my accountant had accidentally put it on the wrong line and another (no way to confirm if it really was an accident). The agent clearly did not understand stock trading as all she was able to do was try to reconcile the numbers at the bottom of the page. I tried to explain to her that the basis may not be found in that year and what she was doing was not valid. I provided her with a complete spreadsheet breakdown of all fees and basis. I even found my previous employer's notes about exercising options and employee stock purchase (I had transferred some of these into my brokerage). Long story short, she made threats to move all proceeds to income and yelled at me during the audit. I told her if she did not understand she should refer to their experts (they have specialists in financial products). I went to her manager and the territory manager to resolve it. 9 months later I had a $2k refund which I doubt she had ever had to give. These people in the 1040 and small business self employed (SBSE) are Gestapo plain and simple. Never give into their tactics. They work for us!

Let me tell you how it will be;
There's one for you, nineteen for me.
'Cause I’m the taxman,
Yeah, I’m the taxman.

Should five per cent appear too small,
Be thankful I don't take it all.
'Cause I’m the taxman,
Yeah, I’m the taxman.

(if you drive a car, car;) - I’ll tax the street;
(if you try to sit, sit;) - I’ll tax your seat;
(if you get too cold, cold;) - I’ll tax the heat;
(if you take a walk, walk;) - I'll tax your feet.

'Cause I’m the taxman,
Yeah, I’m the taxman.

Don't ask me what I want it for, (ah-ah, mister Wilson)
If you don't want to pay some more. (ah-ah, mister heath)
'Cause I’m the taxman,
Yeah, I’m the taxman.

Now my advice for those who die, (taxman)
Declare the pennies on your eyes. (taxman)
'Cause I’m the taxman,
Yeah, I’m the taxman.

And you're working for no one but me.

Hey Tim, call Wesley Snipes. He's an income tax expert.

Becasue I HAD to know where it came from:  HIGHLIGHTS-Geithner's testimony on budget to House committee

GEITHNER ON CORPORATE TAX REFORM AND BUDGET PROPOSALS:"We are very serious, as you know and we've talked about this a lot, in trying to build consensus now on a set of fundamental changes to the corporate tax system that would improve incentives for investment." "To do that we'd have to lower the rate very substantially and eliminate or substantially reduce the broad range of tax preferences and incentives that now create a lot of unfairness and distortions in the tax code."

I was at a conference this weekend. Thomas Sargent was talking, and he said, "Geithner just doesn't have the intellectual capacity to be in the job he is in. The other guys, Bernanke, et al., at least they have the brains for it, but Geithner is just out of his league..."

Presented without comment...

Most of the MSM and government has chosen to sweep under the rug that Mr. Geithner was also one of the architects that caused the Asian currency crisis. Incompetent? Indeed!

So did the Keebler elf, Geithner, suddenly become a proponent of the "fair tax"? Somehow, I doubt it!

Redistribution of wealth is what happens when you have an entire civilization that decides to codify the violation of "Thou shalt not covet" and "Thou shalt not steal!" John Adams said it results in tyranny and anarchy!

Seems to me that the fairest tax is one that taxes the RECIPIENTS of government largess at higher rates than those who PAY for that largess, just like the private economy that charges the RECIPIENTS of goods and services according to how much they BUY and CONSUME. Those who RECEIVE government services should PAY for those services, and those who receive MORE services should pay MORE for them. That would be the most effective way to encourage people to become ever more productive. The first $XXXX per year that we earn ALL go to the governement, and the more you earn, the more you get to keep. A regressive tax is the one that encourages work and productivity. Now THAT would encourage business investments and jobs!

The tax code doesn't contain 500 million words in order to provide a fair system. It's written that way to provide loopholes to the people who pay the authors to write the words.

A "fair" taxation system will result in increased taxes for the wealthy, so we know it will never be made fair.

This all needs to stop.  Geithner forgot to pay his taxes, but imprisons those who don't pay theirs.  Let alone the fact that your IRS money does not go to the government, instead the international banking cartel.  Please inform yourself and spread the word.

Far be it from me to defend Turbo, but to this day I haven't been able to figure out how he was supposed to prepare his taxes when he worked for the IMF.  He was a W-2 employee who's employer didn't pay their share of FICA.

If anyone out there knows how he was supposed to file, I'd love to know....

Zerohedge is losing its cred daily. But the one thing we could do before we move on to children of men is to beeseech the decider of taxes. The guy is the head of the US treasury and he could help decide this case. He is very busy, working on important stuff, but his name is also Tim. (No relation). If he could put a bar on tax collection in the same way Dimon has paused from foreclosures we could really appreaciate Ben and the FedRes for what it is. No jobs would be lost. Have every one of the Bloggers and IRS agents work for the the OnionSports Dome.

End the Fed and you can eliminate the personal income tax AND the IRS - replace the current corrupt tax system and Gestapo IRS with a National Sales Tax. If you say flat rate tax on income or a VAT you are still stuck with the IRS.

15%-18% tax rate that EVERYBODY pays, with real estate exempted and perhaps also automobiles (the 2 big ticket items) - but then no interest deduction on a return you don't need to file......
