Two Million March in Cairo, Egypt

George Washington's picture

Al Jazeera puts the number protesting in downtown Cairo at over 2 million:

These
are the latest pictures from Cairo's Tahrir Square where over two
million people from all walks of live are protesting against Mubarak...

Wow:

Al Jazeera also notes that hundreds of thousands are marching in smaller cities across Egypt.

Of course, these are not official estimates, and the numbers may be revised downwards or upwards in the future.

with International Crisis Group "global widget" Mohammed El B waiting quietly in the wings and MI6/CIA Muslim Brotherhood faux opposition and US State Department endorsing this latest Israeli puppet , Egyptians are the latest recipients of change you can believe in. No worries folks. Everything is under "control".

White house tells Mubarak not to run in September elections, which in effect means he stays in office until then. That is a non-starter, and a stupid one at that. White House in denial just like Mubarak.

Until we see hundreds of secret police swinging from Cairo's lightpoles we can be sure that the revolution has not succeeded. In this country until we see thousands of bankers jumping from their burning glass towers we can be sure there is not going to be a revolution.

2 million protesting.  Some facts from the 2010 CIA FACT Book on Eqypt.

Population 81 mm, up 16 million 21% in the last 10 years, fastest growing large country in the world.

One Problem, Egypt can't feed is people.

Egypt imports 40% of its total food needs and 60% (7 million tons) of the wheat consumption.   As the population grows, more and more farm large is used for living.

Tick tock.

Egypt subsidies the cost of wheat so the cost of bread is the cheapest in the world

Egypt will  have to start importing oil and gas w/o any foreign reserves to pay.  Consumption increasing but large fields being depleted.

RUSSIA, EGYPT'S LARGEST SUPPLIER OF WHEAT, HAS CUT OFF ALL EXPORTS DUE TO ITS PRODUCTION PROBLEMS.   AMERICA IS THE ONLY EXPORTER OF WHEAT AT THIS TIME.

RUSSIA WILL NOT DELIVER ON A 500,000 TON ORDER FOR SEPTEMBER DELIVERY.

EGYPT YOU HAVE A PROBLEM AND ITS NOT YOUR TWITTER.

I was listening to NPR and during a news update they were saying the crowds were only about 250,000

Whats important is that we must be continually aware that the media and many polling outfits are in the business of shaping the reaction to the news and not giving us whats critical to make informed judgments and plot a course of action.

If the crowds are in the 2,000,000 + range, its apparent that this was NOT some discrepancy over judging the size of the turnout.

When people learn the truth, the moment to act or organize an action is usually passed,...thats what they're counting on, in order to prevent organized protests.

Maybe glen beck isnt so crazy. He argued with the neocons and advocated for the middle east people against tyranny and interventionism. I cant believe we supported oppressive middle east governments. It does nothing for us and only temporarily helps israel. Blowback is going to be a real bitch. Maybe we have a chance to reassess our blind allegiance to an ungrateful intransigent. Being critical of israel is no longer a taboo in our politics.

Egyptian sources on Twitter reporting that Mubarak will resign tonight in a scheduled speech to the Nation. Maybe. The joke is he does his speeches at night because his real audience is 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

59% of Egyptian like garlic. 27% like fat free cooking. 50% of Egyptians love Houmous, lebanese specialty. 20% love al-couscous. 82% support ditching the Sphinx. 77% support whipping those who whip the stone cutters of the pyramids. 84% support those who change their camel for another. Now that makes a grand total that surpasses the century of odd ball statistics like the number of steps on the graded pyramid! I love goulash soup! How about you?

93,6% of all statistics are freely made up except when Zionist propagandist and Jewish supremacist Caroline Glick delivers them. In that case, we are closer to 99.99%.

Seems odd that any society would make the decision to follow a religion which would keep them in the 18th century.  But that is from my American perspective so I'm not qualified to judge in a balanced way.   Who said that "progress" was good anyhow?  I hear they have some pretty interesting views on lending and interest.

On what possible basis would you make that claim. AJ is a media organization that like CNN, FOX, NBS etc has a political agenda. I suppose you think BBC is balanced and objective news organization too?

You likely think the Egyptian military are the good guys as well.

It is disappointing that so many here seem to lap up without question what a media outlet offers just because its head office is in another country.  That's the kind of  'critical' thinking one would expect to find on a Yahoo message board or with a group of sheeple but not on ZH.  As CD opined the other day the dynamic here has changed, fortunately the articles are for the most part still worth reading.
