One old saw i haven't heard in awhile is "an ounce of gold can buy a new suit." These days an ounce can buy a couple of decent suits ( four at Men's Warehouse ) at least. So, does that mean gold is actually overpriced ?
1. Yes, gold is overpriced due to excessive demand via speculators, which will not speculate at the time the economy improves, leading to an early 1980's scenario for Gold.
2. Some of the suits at men's wearhouse aren't "decent", comparatively speaking.
3. The true price of gold is between 600-900 an ounce. It will get there again.
It means industrialism and economies of scale have made goods cheaper.
It means Men's Warehouse sells crap!

this is probably only for cash settlements and not physical delivery. There is some form exploitable spread to arbitrage for sure if you demand physical delivery.
