UPDATE on Police State | “SWAT” Team Breaks Down Door, Detains Man for Wife’s Defaulted Student Loans
Just updated the earlier post on Police State | SWAT Team Breaks Down Door, Detains Man for Wife’s Defaulted Student Loans...
From the original source...
Questions surround feds' raid of Stockton home
Wright
said he later went to Stockton Mayor Ann Johnston and Stockton Police
Department, but learned the city of Stockton had nothing to do with the
search warrant.
U.S. Department of Education spokesman
Justin Hamilton confirmed for News10 Wednesday morning federal agents
with the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), not local S.W.A.T.,
served the search warrant. Hamilton would not say specifically why the
raid took place except that it was part of an ongoing criminal
investigation.
Hamilton said the search was not related to student loans in default as reported in the local media.
OIG
is a semi-independent branch of the education department that executes
warrants for criminal offenses such as student aid fraud, embezzlement
of federal aid and bribery, according to Hamilton. The agency serves 30
to 35 search warrants a year.
From Reason.com
Dept. of Education SWAT Raid Update: Not for a Student Loan, DoE Says
Yesterday,
the Depart of Education's office of inspector general executed a search
warrant at Stockton California residence with the presence of local law
enforcement authorities.
While
it was reported in local media that the search was related to a
defaulted student loan, that is incorrect. This is related to a criminal
investigation. The Inspector General's Office does not execute search
warrants for late loan payments.
Because
this is an ongoing criminal investigation, we can't comment on the
specifics of the case. We can say that the OIG's office conducts about
30-35 search warrants a year on issues such as bribery, fraud, and
embezzlement of federal student aid funds.
All further questions on this issue should be directed to the Department of Education's Inspector General's Office.
This
will certainly come as a relief to Millenial deadbeats, but the notion
that "bribery, fraud, and embezzlement of federal student aid funds" is
all it takes to get a paramilitary squad to bang down your door at 6
a.m, handcuff you in your boxers, and throw your three pre-teen children
into the back seat of a squad car, all in the service of a warrant
aimed at someone who no longer lives in your home, is frankly every bit
as terrifying.
Many questions still unanswered...
Either way, criminal or not, none of this constitutes a raid as it occurred.
What's next? Jack Booted Thugs breaking down doors of people that may or may not be in foreclosure?
Oh yea, that's right. That is already happening, and the "cops" are doing nothing about it. Feel safe anymore?
I will be looking into this OIG semi-independent branch of the education department that executes warrants.
I also included the actual search warrent that was issued below...
Be sure to read the items they were to secure on this "terrorist."
I am out of words to describe except the ONLY line item crossed out of the warrant apparently by the magistrate was...
m. Contraband or any other item that is immediately apparent to be evidence of a crime
The rest of the items were things such as application records and transcripts.
Just remember...
First they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.
Terrifying times folks...

Police State Search Warrant on Student Loan "Default"
- advertisements -

i had people just like this steal my student loan check from the school office so that could be the situation....
People just like who? These people didn't do anything.
It is rephrased: from default, it switches to late loan repayments.
Late loan payments are default but other situations are also default. It is one thing to be one month behind schedule and another to write off unilaterally a loan. Both are default.
Good catch.
Wire Fraud eh?
I'd like to know how many federal agencies and departments have squads like this. Surely this can;t be the right answer, that the Department of Education has this sort of assets organic.
I warned this was coming 2 years ago when I read reports the Education Debt had purchased 12 guage shotguns and tens of thousands of rounds of .40 cal ammo. Of course back then it was crazy, but here we are today regardless.
Indeed, and you can find the solicitation and/or contract for the boom-sticks as a matter of public record at fedbizops or some such gateway. I couldn't believe what I was seeing....Dept. of Education literally soliciting for a bunch of 12-gauge tactical shotguns.
Shockingly, this neat little gubment procurement somehow got missed by all major media outlets. Gosh. :/
I wonder, is it still considered tin-foil hat kookage if it's verifiable public record?
WTF are you talking about? The purchase was to replace existing long guns, it wasn't some scary, new trend taking place.
It matters not.
I too recall contracts for 870 shotguns by Government Agency such as Dept of Education that normally wont need such firepower. If any at all.
That have not been covered by the media is of no surprise to me. Zero Hedge and some sites are VERY ahead of the curve before the masses get it.
I am getting questions now on the Raditation detector I have on my key ring. It's ready to pick up "Hot radiation" Some of the people responded that they too will get one and try to prepare.
The government in it's current administration wont.
all of them do. The Forest Service has one too. Look into it, you'll see what I mean.
I know a guy who is with the DOI and he actually does street patrol ticket writing in DC. A federal agency doing street policing, yeah.
I live in one of the lowest crime cities in the US and the squad cars here have M16s in them. They appear to be girding for war but there is no war other than the one they brought with them
I really don't think the use of patrol rifles in place of shotguns is any big sign of anything except certain firearms companies are good at marketing. Most cops don't need more than a 6-shot S&W Model 10 or Model 15, but they all have 17 shot Glocks and S&Ws now because the budgets allow for it. Also, read about the Norco Bank robbery before you pass judgement. There *is* a reason for cops to carry ARs, and it has nothing to do with subjugating the public. As long as I can also own them, I'm fine with it.
The police did not have to stand and fight during that robbery. If they had half a brain (which they did not and it also verified that they had little to no training) they would have done nothing more than follow the criminals and re-organized along the way. They created the "ok corral" and got their assess handed to them.
Agree...pretty much all of them.
So it's not for failure to pay, but for being accused of fraud for failure to pay. Great difference guys. That's a pretty low threshold. It's still the Department of Education using federal SWAT to harass family members in order to enforce student loans.
Hope you can find a job after college, and not ever lose it, and that you can put up with whatever abusiveness your employer dished out. B/c if not ....
Jack Bauer is looking for Jack the Ripper...And this student loan is just a cover up. We don't know if Jack found Jack, but we do know that a door got knocked down. Now if Jack B is as good as we know him to be and Jack R is a clever as history taught us, we are in for a manhunt to make OJ look like a one nutted runt lost in down town traffic...orange juice all over his jacket...without a touchdown anywhere near his hot rod Glock in hip pocket. I'm betting that Jack will win this one...I truly feel like an oligarch, as I can't lose on this one even if I tried my best like OJ did.
Fascism for Fun and Profit!
For sure. Police state will continue to expand as long as we let "them" get away with it. "Throwing the bums out" only replaces old bums with new ones. Until people realize that Random "D" or "R" as our ballot choice, is no choice, we get what we deserve.
I look for police to start using the devices like On-Star speed control to remotely lock people out of their cars to collect unpaid fines, etc. More thought crimes prosecuted as preventative.
And yesterday, a story about elderly British folks getting off a cruise ship on the leftcoast were harassed by the Jack Boots for hours...fitting a terra'ist profile no doubt.

18 Signs The Collapse Of Society Is Accelerating#3 One town in Connecticut was forced to shut down a beautiful new fountain because too many people were using it as a toilet.
#4 This most recent Memorial Day weekend, cities all over America literally turned into war zones. There were reports of mass violence in Miami, New York, Chicago, Charlotte, Myrtle Beach, Nashville and Boston among other places.
If you want to see video of some of the violence in Miami as it was happening, you can view it here. The video is quite disturbing so please don't let any small children view it.
...
#10 In Atlanta, two dozen teens recently violently assaulted two Delta flight attendants on a train for no apparent reason. The following is how a local Atlanta newspaper described the attacks....
...
#17 All over the United States, vicious restaurant brawls have been erupting with alarming frequency and many of them are being posted up on YouTube for the world to see. You can see one example of this phenomenon right here.
#18 From coast to coast, "mob robbing" has become a very disturbing trend.
So what is a "mob robbing"?
Well, basically dozens of young people storm into a store together, grab whatever they want, and storm back out again.
Recent examples of this have been caught on video in Washington D.C. and in Las Vegas.
Not sure the "flash mob" robberies are due to dire economic straits. Seems more like a youth oriented, cultural type thing.
This is the terrible spiral of the coming confrontation between People vs Oligarchs. Its a perfect scenario to squash the people by pretending that this is done to squash the anarchy. As all unruly elements are an excuse for increased, justified repression being exerted nation wide to prevent anarchy from growing. The spiral once it starts feeds itself.
Only once in history did the people win : In France in 1789; only because the aristocracy was shagged out. In 1917 in Russia, it was the thugs disguised as "the people" who won; the french revolution having conveniently provided the historical precedent and thus disguise to the thugs to pretend they were genuine representatives of the people.
Wait, how are the oligarchs involved at all? It's not like the teens flash-robbed some billionaire's house, they robbed a store in their own neighborhood, which is all that ignorante ghetto rats are good for. We need more thoughtful street thugs.
"how are the oligarchs involved at all?"
The current climate in the USA is fed by the Oligarchical order. We all agree to that here in ZH; the correlation between the economic rip off and the hard times for main street. This has created the current degradation of the social climate in Main Street. So the ongoing social confrontation is Wall Street vs Main Street. Or, Oligarchs vs People. The loss of civil liberties as per this incident is felt by all, including the author of this article, as a infringement of civil liberties. Oligarchs/bankers/lenders are behind this loss and perceived as such by main street. That's all I am saying. You don't seem to see the correlation between "law and order" that can be mis-used by TPTB to abuse civil liberties, as with foreclosures and now with student loan default; all in the interest of banksters and lenders who are part of the Oligarchical class...Capito?
I am not dfending the thugs and robbers. I'm just saying this could be mis-used and it could spiral into areas where law and order are not being used correctly as for the student loan case. Lets hope that the legal system does not enter this vicious spiral.
Is that an accurate picture - that is the house in question was 'tossed' this way?
Crazy indeed. Yet no one in america really cares or even knows of this story and others like it, until 1 day one of these crazy SWAT raids will go wrong and a bunch of cops will be shot, then the govt stomps down its iron boot.
we have to deFederalize policing. Police powers are supposed to be local, reserved to the States.
The Federal power will resist this with everything they have; do not expect your federal representative to vote against their own power.
SWAT raids don't get cops shot except by branch davidian types. A marine was gunned down, shot something like 60 times, by a SWAT team who served a warrant on the wrong house or wrong person, found no evidence whatsoever of criminality and is now trying to cover their tracks. The marine retrieved his AR15 and confronted the police, who didn't identify, just opened fire.
Seriously Trav?
I WANT THEM to keep it federal and as organised as it is.
One reason:
Checks will start to bounce sooner. Start actually making moron, fucking civil servants with a badge, gun and orders start...ummm...thinking rather than reacting with all grade 7 of their education. Then it eventually ends up in that wayfare of "crap, guess we have to behave".
Let them have all the union and central processing they like. The cops own union will stick it in their ass eventually. Then I can hire them for my own needs...see how that works. The law as a general aspect is now pointless and from 20+ years of watching cops do their job, they are either a revenue stream or a helpdesk employee that responds to problems. To be blunt a guy in India could do their jobs more effectively for around 1/10th the cost...and gladly.
Nice overgeneralizing, CPL. I was a cop for 30 years and have a graduate degree. I'm in a small community and my department had a great deal of respect for the community and we had their respect as well. How about painting with a slightly less broad brush...
Thank you. I'm not LE but have known many and while a few were less than desirable the overwhelming majority were solid human beings who would stand and put their own lives on the line, on or off duty, to protect innocent lives of no relation to their own.
I constantly find negative generalizing comments about MIL and LE on these forums yet I sincerely doubt that more than a small number of ZH forum members could say or would do the same. I hope I'm wrong if it comes down to it.
I was MIL, I made sure you dumb shits didn't blow your legs off. Engineer moron checking in. Weird thing is that I could ask for a platoon of leather necks to cover me while I cleared a range. Never heard of anything but a leatherneck captain doing that. Even then I could tell a lgtCol to fuck off and no one is going in there.
That was 25 years ago. My understanding it hasn't changed, nor have the people. You dumb shits in a different year. Can't build, can't cook, can't fix. That's why you're given guns. Nobody expected you to think, you are here to collect a pension and build a people silo to make sure it all keeps rolling. We all get the basic training, there is no reason for any of you score less than average. But most do. Again. Can't build, can't fix, can't cook. Basic shit.
Glad to see you sticking next to whatever flag the underperforming senior class are. Military was useful for ROTC, that's it.
here's how to tell where you are in the military. If you can't fix. Can't build. Can't cook. you are given a rifle. If you are on post. Guess how dumb you are? Army dumb.
There's an exception to every rule. What's your graduate degree in if you don't mind?
He got it like every other moron on the police force I know. He got paid to get his detective. His detective work is like every other wonk in the civil service. I'm going to guess from one of two ways.
Am I close? COPS are fairly binary. Only tool they have is a hammer and every problem is a nail.
So after 30 years...what did he discover about people with all that edumatcation? Let's ask him.
What did you learn whackadoo inform us of something that isn't a cop show dialogue and how did your civil SERVANT PENSION BENIFT ANYONE?
Please...after you..
Yea well one of these upcoming raids will go wrong, in a house where they dont catch people sleeping but have their house alarmed and perhaps booby trapped.
A few dozen 12 gauge "signalling devices", strategically placed at various angles, at around knee-high level, all loaded with .00 buck and/or slug rounds, would be an epic disaster for the entry team.
And you'll never see the light of day again.
The House of Usher
There is lots of material on booby traps and other goodies. The "Poor Mans James Bond" was one of my favorite books growing up. There is 3 volumes, 1 and 2 are the best IMO. I think it was volume 1 that detailed how to construct a lightbulb bomb. Poke a small hole in the top of a bulb and pour in 4f black powder, making sure not to break the filament. Wrap the bulb with duct tape and nails or just use as a primary for a larger explosion, line the entryway with these goodies and home security is as easy as a flip of a switch.
I liked the napalm version of the lightbulb better. See Ken Wahl in "The Soldier" for more details.
we have to deFederalize policing. Police powers are supposed to be local, reserved to the States.
It doesn't matter; most of these SWAT "incidents" are perpetrated by local police. SWAT teams are being used more and more for low level raids on petty criminals. Since they're SWAT, they use no-knock warrants, and often times mistakenly kill innocent civilians or pets. These "incidents" are occurring with greater frequency across the US. I guess these A-type assholes get bored, since they're rarely used for their intended purposes.
The issue isn't whether it's Federal or local law enforcement, the issue is that there's no recourse or justice meted out for these mistakes. Along with botched SWAT raids, I'm seeing more and more citizens arrested and prosecuted for video/audio recording of police. Often times these recordings prove police corruption, and yet it's the citizen being prosecuted.
Law enforcement is just as bad as bankers and politicians. They're given too much power and are not held accountable for their actions.
Link to story of Marine, Jose Guerena, recently killed by SWAT in a botched raid - http://reason.com/blog/2011/05/16/marine-survives-two-tours-in-i
I'd join a militia if I could find one that isn't full of head-cases.
Jesus Christ! This is the kind of incident that drives you over the edge. Even if he was guilty of something (it seems he wasn't) conducting a raid while the mother and child are present is unexcusable. How about some surveillance or intelligence gathering. No fucking accountability except for the common man which the Federal Gov. thinks they have a right to control every aspect of your life.
Ya, but they kill innocent civilians in Syria. Everybody knows because there is all day on TV.
Syria has a Russian naval base on the Mediterranean and is friendly with Iran. That's why you are getting the MSM shill coverage. When we were paying them to torture innocent Moslem Canadian citizens, specially rendered, you didn't hear so much. (I once knew a pig that was specially rendered - tasted very good).
How about some surveillance or intelligence gathering.
Bingo! In most cases there is no need for a door busting assault. Law enforcement should simply wait, watch, and arrest the guy when he's leaving the house. Most of these cases are clear abuse of police powers and need no such violent force. It's sickening that they're obtaining NK warrants so easily, and judges and superiors aren't using better judgment. Police state, indeed.
a recent late evening post over on Turd's blog talked of a friend getting a late night door bust, police were driving round with one of their "heat seeking" guns, showed red on the home's walls, turns out he had a some computers running. . . no apologies, no redress.
"police state, indeed" - yup.
Idiot,
I'd join a militia if I could find one that isn't full of head-cases.
Then start your own.
Every able bodied male(and now female) IS a member of the Unorganized militia of the United States.
Everyone(able bodied).
That way you control the nutcakes and racists.
sign me up but who's bringing the beer and ammo
Every third member would be some kind of FBI plant or informant.
Got Friends?
We have to break these idiots financially (well, the Feds will just keep printing funny money) in order to get the out of control police under control. Hit them in the payroll by reducing the taxes you pay!
To bad they can Not! serve search warrants on Wall Street!
