U.S. Counterterrorism Officials Insisted that Crotch Bomber Be Let Into Country

George Washington's picture

Undersecretary for management at the State Department, Patrick F.
Kennedy, told Congress that the State Department wanted to keep crotch
bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab out of the U.S., but that intelligence
agencies insisted that Abdulmutallab be let into the country.

Specifically,
on January 27th, Kennedy told the House Committee on Homeland Security
that intelligence agencies blocked revocation of Abdulmutallab's visa
because it would have foiled a "larger investigation" into Al Qaeda.

As noted by The Detroit News:

The
State Department didn't revoke the visa of foiled terrorism suspect
Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab because federal counterterrorism officials
had begged off revocation, a top State Department official revealed
Wednesday.

Patrick F. Kennedy, an undersecretary for management at
the State Department, said Abdulmutallab's visa wasn't taken away
because intelligence officials asked his agency not to deny a visa to
the suspected terrorist over concerns that a denial would've foiled a
larger investigation into al-Qaida threats against the United States.

"Revocation
action would've disclosed what they were doing," Kennedy said in
testimony before the House Committee on Homeland Security. Allowing
Adbulmutallab to keep the visa increased chances federal investigators
would be able to get closer to apprehending the terror network he is
accused of working with, "rather than simply knocking out one solider
in that effort."

This is eerily similar to 9/11:

  • One of al-Qaeda’s top trainers in terrorism and how to hijack airplanes, who was a very close associate of Bin Laden, was an American citizen who was an operative for the FBI, the CIA, and the Army (see this article from the San Francisco Chronicle and this article
from the Globe and Mail). Indeed, while he was acting as an FBI
informant, he smuggled Bin Laden in and out of Afghanistan, helped plan
the attacks on US embassies in Africa, and apparently played a pivotal
    role in planning 9/11.

According to a 1995 Boston Globe report, his entry into the country was made possible by “clandestine CIA sponsorship.” According to West Point's Combatting Terrorism Center, the terrorist was:

Given a visa waiver under
a “little known visa waiver program that allows the CIA and other
security agencies to bring valuable agents into the country, bypassing
the usual immigration formalities.” While perhaps “little known,” this
authority was granted to the Director of National Intelligence by the
Central Intelligence Agency Act of 1949 and codified in 50 U.S.C.
§403h, which states that if “the admission of a particular alien into
the United States for permanent residence is in the interest of
national security or essential to the furtherance of the national
intelligence mission, such alien and his immediate family shall be
admitted to the United States for permanent residence without regard to
their inadmissibility under the immigration or any other laws and
regulations….”

Indeed:

  • An Al Qaeda operative very close to one of the top Al Qaeda leaders was a CIA informant

And U.S. and allied intelligence services had penetrated the highest levels of Al Qaeda prior to 9/11. For example:

In addition, U.S. and allied intelligence services followed the hijacker's every move:

Moreover, the U.S. intercepted many high-level Al Qaeda phone calls:

Moreover, the financiers for Al Qaeda were not mysterious and unknown before 9/11:

Other facts point towards penetration of the highest levels of Al Qaeda:

Did
9/11 - like the crotch bombing - also involve U.S. intelligence
services letting smaller terrorists into the U.S. so that they could
catch the "big fish"?

If so, this would be ironic, since the U.S. could have killed Bin Laden in 2001 and again in 2007, but chose not to do so.

Big Pete,

After all the incredible "news" stories you have seen on this site, how can you say that?

Tim Geithner didn't know quack about the AIG deal, Paulson didn't know quack about Lehman and coincidentally doesn't remember talking to Lloyd that day (he was in Moscow meeting with Goldman- duh...), Cuomo didn't really issue a suit to the court, there are no FOIA requests still pending from the Federal Reserve and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and nothing at all smells like a cover-up or nefarious action in any way shape or form.

Guess you don't really read the news here.  You just come for the pictures?

All of that is common enough, folks stealing other peoples money. Been going on since the beginning of time.

A government planning and executing an attack against its own soil to get what? You consider that in the same league of possibilities as every fool in Washington skimming off the top? Sorry I do not.

Some conspiracy theories have some credible chance of happening...others do not. The US Government flying goddamn remote control airplanes into the WTC and Missiles into the Pentagon is so far out of the realm of possibilities that if you believe that then you are still putting teeth under your pillow.

Pierre, go seek out footage of building 7 collapsing and check your suspension of belief again afterwards. There's a reason why that footage never gets played, and it's because it looks like every controlled demolition you ever saw on film.

The official explanation seems a tragic, farcical joke after you see it, combined with a sense of despair for what the lie means. There's no two ways around it.

That was the penny-drop moment for me; before that I shared your view.

I won't even speculate as to whether drones (pilotless planes) were used on 9/11.  All I want to know is how WTC 7 came down: keep in mind that WTC 5 & 6, which didn't come down (and sufferred from massive fires) , were between WTC 1 & 2 and WTC 7!

no, what's so hard to believe that the attack took place about as portrayed (maybe the plane in pa. was shot down, maybe not) but that certain "rogue elements" in the cia knew what was coming and let it happen to "wake up america" and get the cia as an institution an enemy to replace the disappeared ussr (that the cia rated as an existential threat until it ceased to exist -- some spies and intelligence analysts -- it was the essence of their assignment for forty years and they totally blew it).  certainly pushed america a whole lot closer to fascism didn't it?  imagine thinking when clinton was being impeached over lying about adultery that in ten years some (not you) would be debating the propriety of a democratic party president's policy of assassinating american citizens upon his (or a properly designated subordinate's) say so.  and what did nixon do that was so bad he had to resign?

Sat, 02/06/2010 - 10:18 | 220354 PierreLegrand

Certainly I have no doubt that given the incompetence of our government, any government our size, it is entirely possible that our CIA was penetrated, it has been for a while, by agents that did not have the country's best interests at heart.

Given that an avowed communist was but a heartbeat away from assuming the power of the Presidency, anything is possible when we willfully shut our eyes to the possibility. Before you rise up in protest read the Venona Papers.

Having said that, it is beyond absurd to consider remote control planes/missiles and explosives causing 9/11. That is the territory that this buffoon GW treads and it destroys the credibility of this site.

You cannot accept as possible ANY conspiracy theory when you are discussing what most people consider a wild eyed conspiracy theory, that the US Government is actively engaged in transfering the wealth of us all to their banker friends.

Nothing that you've rambled on and on about has ANYTHING to do with REFUTING the claims being made.  Rather than explain how, say WTC 7 could come down WITHOUT explosives, you prattle on about communists trying to take the presidential throne- WTF?

This has EVERYTHING to do with the markets when there are reasons to believe that the US government, which is now greatly involved in them, was possibly involved in executing a "Pearl Harbor like event" (or basically words to that extent put forth in the PNAC document).

If I had a copy of the Operation Northwoods documenation I'd smack you over the head with it: seems that no matter whether there's written proof, even by the US government itself, some people just (too lazy to read?) won't believe things unless it hits them upside the head!

Thanks for playing!

I worked in US defence industry for the last 25 years, specifically for Wright-Patterson AFB.

Based on my professional expertise, the 9/11 official version has too many incredible holes. Specifically, somebody deliberately interfered  with flight avionics of three hijacked planes. Well, it took years before the truth about the Gulf of Tonkin became known.

The final note, CIA was the primary Al Qaeda creator & organizer. Dead Bin Laden would be a big problem for the US war on terror.

But isn't that why we went to war?  To kill Bin Laden?

I mean, Bush didn't FAIL, did he?  I mean he has this huge track record of success so I couldn't see how OBL could possibly be alive after 8 years and trillions of dollars.

Sure, none of this is worthy of consideration. So a few thousand people died and a few buildings came down, so what? People die and buildings come down every day. So maybe it provided an excuse to start a couple of wars and spend a few more trillion dollars we do not have. Don't access any of the links provided in the story and possibly rethink what you are already certain of. Just keep worrying about your portfolio and let some other jerkoffs (who probably wouldn't have a job anyway) fight and die in some God forsaken hellhole. Nothing to see here folks, move along. Right on, again!

This all has to do with control of oil, sure.  But one of the main ways of population control in other parts of the world is through the use of drugs.  CIA imported most of the crack cocaine into the US to destroy the inner cities to better keep the people there under governemnt control.

Do you realise that since the US Armed Forces arrived in Afghanistan the poppy crop has grown by 600 percent? Six times as much potential heroin in the world as before we took over the fields?

Is any of this beginning to make sense to you?

Sat, 02/06/2010 - 19:39 | 220794 Fish Gone Bad
Fish Gone Bad's picture

You are indeed correct.  In July 2000, Taliban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar declared that growing poppies was un-Islamic, resulting in one of the world's most successful anti-drug campaigns. As a result of this ban, opium poppy cultivation was reduced by 91% from the previous year's estimate of 82,172 hectares. The ban was so effective that Helmand Province, which had accounted for more than half of this area, recorded no poppy cultivation during the 2001 season.

The United States needs enemies, likewise the drug war needs enemies too.
