The word "debt" by now kinda has lost its original meaning. You may call it debt, when you owe someone else money, but can you still call it debt, when you owe it to yourself, just so that you can cheat the system and do monetization? And what does interest mean in such a context?
The system has lost contact with reality.... all it is by now is stupid hacks and number games, in an attempt to do something illegal via legal means. In reality, all the selfowned debt does not matter, and it is simply a mirror of the amount of unbacked money printed, plus an "interest" anomaly.
What in reality matters is the amount of currency in circulation, the speed of inflation, and money the US owes other countries. The rest is just artificial number games.

ZH is primarily focused on financial issues, but in reality every system and pattern in this world is dysfunctional in one way or another. Politics, finance, religion, education, tax, food, water - you name it, it is broken.
When they all collapse there will be an opportunity to repattern society. The trick will be to be able to replace the current patterns with new, more effective patterns. Am I hopeful? Not really. Too many dysfunctional people will remain and will fuck it up. As usual.
