"When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion—when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing—when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors— when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you—when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice—you may know that your society is DOOMED." - Ayn Rand Atlas Shrugged

Equaly as gifted.

"Whenever destroyers appear among men, they start by destroying money, for money is men’s protection and the base of a moral existence. Destroyers seize gold and leave to its owners a counterfeit pile of paper. This kills all objective standards and delivers men into the arbitrary power of an arbitrary setter of values. Gold was an objective value, an equivalent of wealth produced. Paper is a mortgage on wealth that does not exist, backed by a gun aimed at those who are expected to produce it. Paper is a check drawn by legal looters upon an account which is not theirs: upon the virtue of the victims. Watch for the day when it bounces, marked: "Account Overdrawn."

At the Minsky Conference last month Paul McCulley said the $2T held by the Chinese is the best deal in history -- even if they get stiffed. They managed their emergence by preventing crippling domestic inflation from 1978 to present. Granted, inflation is turning up now, but the Chinese have pulled off a world-historical transformation. Although true that water, other environmental issues, and Gini coefficient could derail the path to greatness, what a performance!  We forget that China was supreme for many centuries and only subdued by naval gunnery in the 19th C.

I was speaking from the point of view of those who feel they must keep the Ponzi balls in the air.

Of course it all comes apart. But for those immersed within the insanity, the very fact that they can and have put it off for another day feeds their belief that can put it off indefinitely.

We are talking about a massive addiction here, not sane behaviour. Just because they wear three piece suits doen't make them immune to the insanity. In fact because they wear the suits they have convinced themselves and many others that they are the smartest men in the room.

they have convinced themselves and many others that they are the smartest men in the room...

I'm beginning to think we've gotten to this point because the Masons have neglected their fundamental calling, recruitment.

Perhaps if they had secretly inducted more into their ranks we would have the next generation of smartest controlling the wealth of nations and preventing global havoc.

Just thinkin, but it seems their Creator root belief system, inclusive of Judaism, Christianity and Abraham's seed through Ishmael has left Asia in the ether world. Maybe if they go back to Noah, they can pick up the Asian thread and weave it into the solution.

Reminds me of Chuck Prince's statement in 2007:

The Citigroup chief executive told the Financial Times that the party would end at some point but there was so much liquidity it would not be disrupted by the turmoil in the US subprime mortgage market.

He denied that Citigroup, one of the biggest providers of finance to private equity deals, was pulling back.

“When the music stops, in terms of liquidity, things will be complicated. But as long as the music is playing, you've got to get up and dance. We're still dancing,” he said in an interview with the FT in Japan.

New Building Blocks for Jobs and Economic Growth. Honorable Bernank.

A growth rate of output per peasant of 2-1/2 percent per year doubles average living standards in 28 years--about one generation--whereas output per peasant growing at what seems a modestly slower rate of 1-1/2 percent a year leads to a doubling in average living standards in about 47 years--roughly two generations. Compound interest is powerful! Of course, factors other than aggregate economic growth contribute to changes in living standards for different segments of the population, including shifts in relative slave wages and in rates of labor market participation. Nonetheless, if output per peasant increases more rapidly, the prospects for greater and more broad-based prosperity are significantly enhanced.

The word "debt" by now kinda has lost its original meaning. You may call it debt, when you owe someone else money, but can you still call it debt, when you owe it to yourself, just so that you can cheat the system and do monetization? And what does interest mean in such a context?

The system has lost contact with reality.... all it is by now is stupid hacks and number games, in an attempt to do something illegal via legal means. In reality, all the selfowned debt does not matter, and it is simply a mirror of the amount of unbacked money printed, plus an "interest" anomaly.

What in reality matters is the amount of currency in circulation, the speed of inflation, and money the US owes other countries. The rest is just artificial number games.

ZH is primarily focused on financial issues, but in reality every system and pattern in this world is dysfunctional in one way or another.  Politics, finance, religion, education, tax, food, water - you name it, it is broken.

When they all collapse there will be an opportunity to repattern society.  The trick will be to be able to replace the current patterns with new, more effective patterns.  Am I hopeful?  Not really.  Too many dysfunctional people will remain and will fuck it up.  As usual.

Have a great day.

That's what the 'conspiracy theorists' say is the exact plan for the NWO. Fuck up every system beyond repair and then replace the whole thing with a more 'effective' system, i.e. tyrannical one-world government that micromanages everybody's existence from cradle to grave. It's the good old deconstruction/reconstruction method.  :-)
