US Drops From First To Seventh In Average Wealth Per Adult, Behind Singapore, Sweden, And... France
As if we needed more warnings that the US is rapidly losing its position as the world's superpower and wealth aggregator, is the following chart from Credit Suisse, which ranks the top 10 countries in the world in terms of average wealth per adult. While the US was #1 10 years ago, due to an abysmal growth rate of only 23%, by far the lowest of all the ranked countries, the US has now dropped from first to seventh, falling behind such countries as Sweden and France. At the top - such perennially voted "top places to live" as Switzerland and Norway. Hopefully the US can fix its ever-expanding black hole of problems soon, as once the wealthiest decide they have had it here and move away, look for this number to drop ever faster until the US drops out of the ranking altogether.

There is no way the AVERAGE adult has a net worth over $200,000 in the USA. This is distorted compared to the countries above it on the list, as the other 6 countries have, on average, far less abject poverty than the USA.
Our average only looks good because the uber-rich bring the overall average up. The regular, "average" guy would have a net worth closer to $0 - $50,000 in the USA, without a doubt.

There is a silver lining. USA is still much cheaper than Switzerland, Norway, France, et al (perhaps Singapore has lower COLA). So when adjusted for cost of living as measured by a Big Mac meal, gas per gallon, rent or home prices I bet US is still top 3.
How can this be a surprise.
a) we have a trade deficit that exports wealth at the rate of about 1/2 trillion dollars per year.
b) we have killed the wealth creation machine by killing value added business in the US ... so now all we have left is parasitic business and parasitic government that simply creates debt and adds no value or wealth.
c) the Fed is now in the process of killing the dollar so that relative to the other countries our wealth will decrease further.
If anyone says this was not planned, the better take another look. The US is quickly turning into a country of ruling class elite and their debt slaves. A trade deficit is a boon or curse as you want to see it for any country that has reserve currency status. Reserve currency status assures higher dollar and trade deficits.

I live in Sweden and must object to your comment that Sweden is a semi-socialist country. We used to be, but not anymore. It's a myth. Taxes are high, but at least we have and have had a budget in balance for the last 10 years or so. Moreover, in our country, basically all our women are in the work force and the concept of house wifes is almost unheard-of. Great labor supply gives resourses where we for example can afford six weeks vacation...(oh, which by the way is five weeks in reality).

The dollar is very weak, historically, which is why other countries appear to be racing ahead. Your average Australian has not suddenly become rich overnight, the AUD is simply riding a wave.
