Video Of Greek Riot Violence

And to think that six months ago images of rioters throwing gasoline bombs at the police were enough to get Waddell and Reed to sell 20 ES contracts...

How many times can a ceramic plate take a shot? Once isn't it, then it is broken? Body armor is just to make yourself feel better but in the final analysis, it , as you have stated won't stop any high velocity round. Check out these two lunatics over at Second Chance.

Don't forget that the plates (more than one) in that vest he's wearing HAVE TO weigh 30+pounds.

There is no 'body armor solution' to rifle rounds, period. There are people who were lucky enough to have a non-defective plate in the right place against non armor penetrating rifle rounds, though.

Troops issued the most optimal ceramic plate armor in hot climates often choose to not even wear it, because it's so damn heavy, and they figure their chances of surviving rifle fire are better being more agile than encumbered by all that weight.

Whether hit in your heart or femoral artery, you have about an equal chance of never rising again.

Besides being Level IV NIJ Certified, these plates are Level IV+ - the plus being MULTI-HIT capability.  In independent lab tests they stop two to three of the .3006 AP (armor piercing)  rounds instead of the one round required! (The actual number depends on how close the impacts are together).  About 16 pounds for a pair (front and back).

Here is a link to some us made and issued ammo that blows right though ANY level 4 plate:

Here is a page from RUAG that describes some ammo capabilities...

http://www.ruagcomponents.ch/en/Ammotec/Defence_and_Law_Enforcement/7.62...

If you look around, you can find vids of ammo tests against plates, glass etc... Not the BOT (although they are cool).

Plates are a waste of money unless you are planning offensive operations against unknown threat levels. Or you are planning to work in security. Otherwise why bother? If you need to get something, get a level 2a vest. and maybe some anti-stab plates. You can actually tolerate wearing it enough to make it worth having.

Buy Silver, Food, Medical supplies, etc... IMHO.

It's not disinformation in the least.

Like I said, if practicable, I would wear armor -Level IV in the face of rifle fire.

But I wouldn't feel safe, as all your posted links insinuate I would be, in the face of rifle fire.

I would wear it to increase my statistical odds of preventing a vital area kill and allow me to get the hell out of the hot zone.

And if the opposition had their shit together, even Level IV would offer an illusion of any protection.

Not just RUAG, either.

The best thing I can say about even level IV (portable) armor is that it's best designed to allow the person getting fired upon a better chance to make it to a level V armored vehicle or other suitable cover, without getting instantaneously killed by a vital hit.

That's not a bad thing to say, either; it's just that even level IV armor really only improves the chances of the one being fired upon to get out of the fight with the best chance of surival as possible in modern times. It is NOT designed to allow the one wearing the armor to advance in any sort of organized or strategic means.

So, yes, I'd take armor in such a situation if it were practical to wear. But I'd certainly want effective cover and wouln't be thinking about anything other than BUG OUT once rifle rounds started whizzing by.

7.62x39mm (not even 54mm) M993 round will defeat a NIJ Level IV plate backed by IIIA kevlar at 200 to 250 meters.

Then, of course, there's the M995 in 5.56.

If you want to know what the M995 will defeat, even when fired from a M4, do some research. Even troops in armored carriers are susceptible to it.

Depends on the plate.

The best ones today are made of Dyneema. It is very light and thin.

It can take multiple high velocity hits with mild steel core ammo.

To defeat general purpose AP the Boro-Silcate plates (heavy) will work. The better ones are multi-hit capable (like 4 hits within 6 inches of eachother) and can withstand most AP ammo.

There is an industry dedicated to armor defeat (RUAG and others) that make "special" ammunition that can poke through any man portable armor systems using normal small arms. They also have special rounds designed to penetrate up to 12" of bullet resistant glass and related composites.

That is all I know about it. :)

Spot on man... .308 doesn't care.  Also, limbs are damn near always vulnerable.  It's not like on the movies, where you stoically smoke a cigarette while someone ties off your stump.  It's called the stop, drop and flop.  It's tough on morale, too.

Any centerfire rifle cartiridge will blow right through both sides of a IIIa vest (with truama plate installed)

They are not designed to stop or slow a rifle bullet.

Best defense is to NOT be shot at. Second best is to not be hit. Ballistic Vests etc.. are to help "stack" odds in your favor when dealing with unknown threats. They are not as much of a comfort as one might think when in actual use. They do make it easier to pull your body along once you are toast though.. So if you have friends, consider getting one with a handle.

Rifle/ballistic plates stop rifle rounds.  They are often worn with a soft kevlar vest.  Trauma plates are also often worn with a soft kevlar vest to stop blunt trauma to the sternum such as a punch, shotgun blast, or a knife.  Understand the difference, amigo?

I of course agree that the best defense is to not be shot at.

Understand the difference, amigo?

I sure hope so. I use em.

I used to carry some hard plates (AKA Chicken Plates).. Not worth it IMHO.

You can't wear 'em like soft armor, so they sit in a trunk, which is where they will be when you get shot at with a rifle.

My Main strategy is to avoid being shot at... So's to avoid being shot!

I like giving "surprises" not getting them... I am a very giving person in that respect. :)

But, hey really... I'd be down if you considered me an Amigo.

Most soft armor is made of Kevlar, with some spectra (dyneema) fibers being used now too.

Kevlar is heat/flame "resistant" to about 750 F. Spectra is much less heat resistant.

The guy inside it however is not flame "resistant" and fluids have a real nasty way of running inside all your clothing when they get on you...

So yes, flammables alone as solvents are damaging to the fibers. Ignited flammables are much more damaging.

More of a problem as body armor was designed to be struck by a bullet not attacked with flaming solvents.

I think throwing fire bombs at police is wrong. I mean afterall, they are just some guys out there stuck in the middle. Throwing fire bombs at the banks, now then, is just what the doctor ordered. But if anybody ever gets a good shot in on some cop , he could get seriously hurt and this will do nothing but turn up the cop anger,  a notch unnecessarily.

The days of Andy and Barney are long gone.  Now it is shaven headed 250 lb guys in black with shades to shield their eyes (and humanity) driving around in mean looking black painted cars.  If they are not the ultimate poster boy of where we are going, I cannot think of one.  But they certainly are not just "in the middle."

Young people (I would say kids) use fuel bombs, for many reasons. Fuel bombs are cheap, quick to manufacture and hard to trace. They can't afford weapons and might not have any way to store them securely until needed. And fuel bombs don't really kill anyone, just create a lot of damage.

Mature adults absolutely intend to kill people and use conventional weapons. They own them, can afford them, and usually are not worried about storage.

It will become real shooting with real bullets when the adults get involved. The adults get involved when either their kids are being killed, or they are being pushed off an economic cliff.

Might come to that. We'll see.

Not sure about the system. Homes and shops will burn, the system is above that. Certainly in a physical sense. The system in question is not a building. It is not a bank vault. It is a way of life.

The French knew how you get rid of an entire system. You decapitate it one oligarch at a time. The knowledge of how to plunder -- and the neuro-chemical pleasures so derived -- then die with the brain that embraced them.

Yeah... About that...

Get yourself a book backpack and keep it in the boot of your car or at your office.

In this bag you will keep:

1 baggy pair of jeans

1 Black Hoodie

sturdy and comfortable shoes (day hikers)

Bandana (stay away from red and blue - Norteno/SUR issues there.

couple of 1 liter bottles of water

glasses... You need em. flying shit is everywhere.

work gloves.

Get the feck out of that suit ASAP and get into your street garb... Avoiding the crowds will be fairly easy when you look like them.

Wet down the bandanna and put it over your face for teargas issues.

Wear gloves... If you get knocked down there will be glass and busted shit everywhere... DOnt want to get cut.

Glasses keep you from rubbing your eyes too... which is a good thing.

Unless things get real crazy a typical riot loses steam in about 4-6 hrs.

You can "sneak" back in and get your nice 780I or whatever then.

Hey man, I am availible for consulting if you are really concerned.

I guess I am concerned that anyone who knows anything about finance or economics will become a target of the ignorant mob... Once that mob gets going, it is utterly stupid as you can picture. They are not able to discriminate between a Gold investor and Banker as easily as those here can.

Seriously though, it's crazy that RT is an honest news source compared to US MSM news. Sad, sad, double sad.

The thing I like the best about the RT riot coverage is no commentary just footage.

Just wait. I have no doubt the Irish people will get very uppity indeed. They kinda never stopped fighting that whole British domination thing...for like 500 years. The only reason they chilled out is because things got materially better, things are about to get a lot worse.

I feel like I just watched a G-rated version of US circa 2011/12. Scary stuff.

Oh shit 2:54! Europe Anyone?

News today that Greece still burns (what is in a name!) and Ireland may shortly join them.  The political but economic squeeze is coming from East and West now.  It is surely to join the middle of the continent in ashes.

Being over here on the fairy island across the Atlantic, I have very little ability to know what is going on in Europe.  I am curios to hear the stories of the people there.  If anyone could, please share with me the thoughts, concerns, opinions, and actions that Europeans have and will take, I would be obliged.

Everyone being armed might be the thing that stops the shooting from happening.

It's really romantic thinking about taking up arms and taking to the streets, but once you get hit, and your bowels evacuate, and there you lay on the pavement soaking in your own blood, urine, and excrement, you can quite imagine that the romance quickly fades.

Some people will die, most people won't.

Them as won't then will not because the game will be rapidly over.

The first US civil war had political leaders, economies and respective armies on both sides before the shooting even started. This civil war will not; the banksters got nothing and apart from small merc militias -- will not. A week of street-level fighting and it will be done. The police will fold, the Army will stand down on Constitutional grounds, and then the hunt begins.

Bob Marley wrote a very good song(actually a few of them)-

Crazy Baldhead

Them crazy, them crazy -
We gonna chase those crazy
Baldheads out of town;
Chase those crazy baldheads
Out of our town.

I'n'I build a cabin;
I'n'I plant the corn;
Didn't my people before me
Slave for this country?
Now you look me with that scorn,
Then you eat up all my corn.

We gonna chase those crazy -
Chase them crazy -
Chase those crazy baldheads out of town!
---
/Scat singing/
---
Build your penitentiary, we build your schools,
Brainwash education to make us the fools.
Hate is your reward for our love,
Telling us of your God above.

We gonna chase those crazy -
Chase those crazy bunkheads -
Chase those crazy baldheads out of the town!
---
/Instrumental break/
---
We gonna chase those crazy -
Chase those crazy bunkheads -
Chase those crazy baldheads out of the town!

Here comes the conman
Coming with his con plan.
We won't take no bribe;
We've got [to] stay alive.

We gonna chase those crazy -
Chase those crazy baldheads -
Chase those crazy baldheads out of the town.
