A Visual Reminder Of US Social Stratification
While many watch the revolutions starting virtually on a daily basis in the "developing world", few are concerned that these have any chance of occurring in the United States: "our society is far more cohesive and far less stratified" the rebuttal logic goes. Is it? Over the past two years, the one social class that has received the most voluminous amount of opprobrium is the ubiquitously derogatory "bankster" which represents far more a wealth and income qualification, that a job description. Americans it appears are becoming increasingly sensitive to the stratification within our own society, even if on a subliminal level. And while we have repeatedly shown before in visual terms just how polarized US society is, it worth reminding every few months or so, that the US is rapidly becoming a banana republic not only in its approach to legislative and judicial matters (not to mention regulatory), but toward the distribution of income and wealth. Not that there is anything wrong with a stratified society: after all, that is the purest hallmark of a capitalist society. However when one introduces the basest elements of socialism (and, ostensibly, communism and fascism according to some) in its midst, then things get far more transparent and subjective. Below we once again bring to our readers attention, in easily digestible format, the dramatic schisms that continue to tear through the fabric of US society. And if there is anything that the revolutions in the Maghreb should have taught us by now is that extreme social polarization can only last for so long before a violent snapback restores equilibrium, usually through bloodshed and death.

How Rich are the Superrich
A huge share of the nation's economic growth over the past 30 years has gone to the top one-hundredth of one percent, who now make an average of $27 million per household. The average income for the bottom 90 percent of us? $31,244.
Note: The 2007 data (the most current) doesn't reflect the impact of the housing market crash. In 2007, the bottom 60% of Americans had 65% of their net worth tied up in their homes. The top 1%, in contrast, had just 10%. The housing crisis has no doubt further swelled the share of total net worth held by the superrich.
Winners take it all
The superrich have grabbed the bulk of the past three decades' gains.
Out of Balance
A Harvard business prof and a behavioral economist recently asked more than 5,000 Americans how they thought wealth is distributed in the United States. Most thought that it’s more balanced than it actually is. Asked to choose their ideal distribution of wealth, 92% picked one that was even more equitable.

What happens if 'heaven forbid' you can't get the most expensive room on the date you want it? What an embarrassing situation to put oneselve into...
Q: "Are they insecure?"
A: They feel the need to fit in!
What else could they discuss with friends at Cipriani, Table 6?

Maybe, maybe not. If you look at the US revolution, it is quite interesting to notice that the FFs were noble in all but titles. They certainly did not have poor people status. They lamented over the short differences between them and nobles.
Same for French revolution.
History has it: upper middle class used masses to break open the doors that separated them from the upper class.
I take "middle class to mean you no longer have to lick the balls of you Lord and Master.
Yea, verily the "middle class " is almost gone.
Funny this headline meets me today as I open my favorite ZEROHEDGE . TRUE STORY / TODAY : I took my sister shopping @ ALDI's today, I'd never been there before, I helped with a few extra $$$ at the check - out . Then, I drove her to her dentist for her post-surgery check up. She had some teeth that needed working on, but, could not afford it, so she opted to just have them all pulled, she has 5 teeth left & her mouth is now starting to pucker due to lack of teeth. Tomorrow, I'm driving her to her asthma doctor, she was just accepted into MEDICARE last week & now has a doctor. She is an older woman, there are no jobs for anyone, especially older women . She's scared. I told her that as long as I've got an income that I would always share with her .........THIS IS AMERICA ! IT NEVER USED TO BE LIKE THIS WHEN I WAS A KID . THE COUNTRY HAS BEEN LOOTED & IT'S CITIZENS LEFT FOR DEAD. ........... please remember to share with others.
actually that is how life was before social security
I was going to say less richer people get laid more but you nixed that thought
Asthma and dental issues: in general, need to optimize vitamin D levels. (>40 ng/ml) Vitamin D deficiency is strongly linked to both asthma and dental issues...along with chronic, non-specific musculoskeletal pain, diabetes, hypertension, cancer, etc etc etc. Inexpensive vitamin D can be incredibly helpful...and save a ton of money on doctor bills.
I was going to post something similar - Lynabee - does your family eat veggies, take supplements, drink milk (organic)?
<40 ng/mL is what tokyogp meant as deficiency, I suspect (or maybe intended it to be at the end of the 1st sentence?).
Think about taking 1-2000 IU per day as a supplement if you don't already.
It is cheap!
Deficiency in Vit D is worse in places like the PNW.
My doctor is Chinese. He was a EE with a doctorate from MIT but got bored fixing machines. He blends eastern/western medicine outlooks and is no friend to big pharma. He has had me of 5000 IUs of D for two years and have not been ill/sick once. He also set up a supplement regimen that probably helps. I would encourage everyone to do a little homework on herbs/vitamins. Due diligence, you know.
Same here on the Vit D - 5000 IU per day, and I have not been sick for three years.
I only take during the fall/winter though as I am not sold on taking synthetic vitamins year round.
Do make sure it is vitamin D3.
You're a good person, Lynny. I apologize for the many times I've been rude to you here. You should command more respect than I've shown you and for that I am truly sorry.
I've been taking care of my parents since my dad lost his contract job with the corrupt MFers at BEA in 2008 after working for a start-up that imploded due to boardroom fraudsters in 2007 to the tune of a $35k settlement he'll never see. Technically, I'm paying my 60 year old mom 150% of market rates under the table for daycare for my toddler son though she'd quite happily do it for free just to spend time with him.
Some of us young'uns were raised right. I'm thankful every day that I can pay them back a token of what they did for me growing up and angry as hell at the thieves who are trying to hollow us out.
Take care and best wishes for a speedy and full recovery for your sis.
Best Lynny... Damn Snowball that's a fuckin' tear-jerker there. You runnin' for mayor now, or somethin'?
Hell no, that'd require a paycut. ;)
need to express the numbers in troy ounces.
while the 'balance' is clearly out of kilter, i'd like to see some parallel graphs that correlate things like:
we'd likely find some other interesting relationships at the top of the ladder. but wait, isn't american idol on tonight?
greatest generation had average 8th grade education
military service/rank was much higher in prox to power (like it is close to zero now)
DC has the highest % of people making 200k a year in the USA
Lobbyists aren't people in any sense of the word.
True, but hopefully they are pending Solyent Green.
They are not halal, kosher, or up to USDA standards.
Not to worry. The rich and powerful are well along in implementing their master plan of divide and conquer, including turning wage slaves upon fellow wage slaves.
Example one......the constant comments on Zero Hedge (and everywhere else for that matter) about those damn Wisconsin public service unions and their over paid and under worked union members. Yup, that slave over there has 15% more than me for 10% less work. Off with their heads. I'm not going to pay for their cushy benefits.
Always amazes me how greedy and jealous we can be while screaming our righteous little heads off. It's so much easier beating your fellow wage slave into a bloody pulp than actually attacking the powers that be.
Stockholm syndrome writ large in America in general and on Zero Hedge specifically. Yup, strawman arguments always work better when swallowed whole.
Partisan hats are well known to cut off circulation to the brain.
I've got mine.
F&ck everyone else.
</sarc>
I've got mine. Everyone else can get theirs without any aggression from me.
How's that?
Yeah, that's better.
In an ideal world anyway.
That'd be great, if it contained even a grain of truth.
A priest, a hindu, and a rabbi were discussing their methods for deciding how much to give to their church. The priest said he tithed 10%. The hindu said he put the money outside for a night and took what was left in the morning. The rabbi said he threw it up to G-d and anything he could catch, he could keep.
tm, where do you live?
Exactly, well put.
People are about to go to blows over what one perceives is a slight advantage between them.
Meanwhile all the wealth is carted off while the idiots bitch at each other over who deserves health care or an extra 10 percent.
Don't let the banksters divide you with sophistry and pettiness. The reason YOU(not you CD lol) are screwed, is because the people who promised you their world, took yours.
Instead of taking it back, you act like a pussy and want to compare dicks with your neighbor. As if it matters. What your middle class neighbor makes, doesn't take away from you. It's the bankster idiots (like NerObama, Walker, Christie, and their policies, that are.)
You are really on our side, you're just too stupid or pussy to admit it. Sad. Keep sucking the cock of those taking away what's rightfully yours, and keep thinking you're patriotic for doing so. You aren't, you're just their bitch.
It's bad and getting worse at the lower end of the pay scale. I had to tell employees I would fire them if they discussed compensation. They'd go ballistic if someone made $5k more per year. Low wage inter envy
In Texas you cannot prohibit employees from discussing their wages...... it violates their first amendment to free speech and also ":lawful assembly" It's on the T.E.C. website if you don't believe me. I could add a link here if anyone has a need........
Nonetheless, the employee would get unemployment benefits and probably get the job re-instated if you tried to fire them for discussing their salary although it is a common clause in employee handbooks.......... it is still again Texas State employment law.
When that neighbor works for Big Brother, and Big Brother points a gun at me to pay them both, I can find no sympathy for either of them!
Our Work, or their guns: Choose one, you cannot have both!
1937:
Representatives of the Duponts' General Motors meet in Boston with Baron Manfred von Killinger, Nazi Germany's West Coast chief of espionage, and Baron von Tippleskirsch, Nazi Germany's Consul General in the U.S. and a Gestapo officer, in Boston.
The group signs an agreement showing total commitment to the Nazi cause and agrees to make every effort to remove Franklin Roosevelt as president replacing him with a fuhrer friendlier to the Nazis such as Senator Burton K. Wheeler.
They further agree that Jewish influence in the U.S. must be eradicated and that the U.S. mass media should be be used to discredit the Roosevelt regime.
Although the agreement is made in the strictest secrecy, Representative John M. Coffee of Washington uncovers it and will have the entire text entered into the Congressional Record in August 1942.
Walter Reuther and a group of United Auto Workers supporters are severely beaten by Ford Motor Company goons while attempting to distribute leaflets at Ford's Rouge Plant in Michigan.
My Father had scars on his forehead from this one.
Republic Steel is owned by Cyrus Eaton, a protege of John D. Rockefeller. In a country dominated by ruthless tycoons, Eaton stands out.
Republic routinely spies on its workers and fires anyone engaging in union activity. The company maintains a stock of weapons including guns, tear gas and clubs at its various plants for use against workers.
When a walkout begins at Republic's Chicago mill, police enter the plant to drive union organizers out. The strikers then form a picket line in front of the plant's main gate. Police break the picket line, arresting more than twenty people.
As the workers attempt to once again establish their legal picket line, more than two hundred police, many armed with non-regulation clubs and tear gas supplied by Republic Steel, fire over two hundred shots at the workers and then attack with clubs. When the slaughter is over, four workers are dead, six will die later from their injuries and about sixty others are wounded, many seriously.
Many of the dead have been shot in the back. At Eaton's mill in Ohio, a further six workers are shot to death.
Frederick Osborn, Secretary of the Harriman/Rockefeller funded American Eugenics Society writes that the Nazi sterilization law is...
"the most exciting experiment that has ever been tried".
Osborne will go on to become the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Selective Service during World War II (without, of course, getting drafted himself) and later will be Deputy U.S. Representative to the UN Atomic Energy Commission.
Unsurprisingly, he will also become second president of the Pioneer Fund, yet another of the endless rabble of fascist foundations and "think tanks" which litter the United States.
William "Stamps" Farrish is made president of the Rockefellers' Standard Oil and moves his offices to Rockefeller Center in New York City, where he schmoozes with Hermann Schmitz, chairman of the Nazi chemical combine IG Farben.
Farrish hires Nazi crews for Standard Oiltankers and hires Emil Helfferich, chairman of the Walker-Bush-Harriman controlled Hamburg-Amerika Line, as chairman of the Standard Oil subsidiary in Germany.
Helfferich is authorized to write checks to SS head Heinrich Himmler, on a special Standard Oil account.
The payments from the Rockefellers' Standard Oil to the SS continue into 1944, during the period when that organization is supervising the mass murder of Jews and other "subhumans" at Auschwitz concentration camp, a joint venture of Standard Oil and IG Farben.
The Rockefellers' propaganda maven, Ivy Lee, creates a wealth of pro-IG Farben and pro-Nazi propaganda and has no trouble at all getting it into the U.S. mass media.
James Mooney, General Motors' director in charge of overseas operations, receives the Grand Cross of the Supreme Order of the German Eagle from Adolf Hitler for his “distinguished service to the Reich” which consists, among other things, of supplying tens of thousands of military vehicles, including tanks, to the Nazis.
It's just good business.
Banana Republics ain't squat compared to Nazi Empires.
You forgot Senator Prescott Bush and Brown Brothers Harriman managing funds for Fritz Thyssen which were used to finance Hitler's early political cause and several German steel and mining ventures useful in the war against the United States (until the Trading with the Enemy Act seized their assets in 1942).
C.E.:
I did not forget...just didn't want to make the comment too long. But since you bring it up...
"...(until the Trading with the Enemy Act seized their assets in 1942)..."
Funny thing is, guess who ended up with those assets.
1951:
Yes... Prescott, there is a Santa Claus.
Prescott Bush, whose run for the Senate has been unsuccessful following revelations about his role in the American eugenics movement, hits the jackpot.
Front man and errand boy for the Harriman and Rockefeller families in their business dealings with the Nazis from 1926 to 1951, including the period throughout World War Two, Bush neatly evades prosecution with the legal assistance of ever-present Nazi shyster and fellow Hitler Project luminary Allen Dulles.
(That just might be the same Allen Dulles, the CIA director that was fired by JFK a short while before the Magic Bullet...Lone Gunman incident in Dallas? I'll have to do some more homework and check my facts.)
Instead of doing hard time in the slammer for treason, Bush is handed about $1.5 million in Nazi assets, primarily shares of the Nazi front Union Banking Corporation, which had been seized in 1942 under the Trading With The Enemy Act.
The Nazi cash forms a big chunk of the Bush family fortune and will doubtless be of much help to Bush's son, George "Bailout" Bush, and his grandson, George "I'm A Lyin' Guy" Bush, in their successful quests for the presidency of the United States.
(Wasn't that George "Bailout" Bush dude also a director of the CIA and vice VP under Ronny "RayGun"?)
But...Hey! Prescott Bush and his father-in-law, Herbert Walker, are only minority shareholders and front men of the Nazi front Union Banking Corporation.
It is really owned by none other than Roland and Averell Harriman along with a host of other Nazi operations which had been seized under the Trading With The Enemy Act.
These include the Holland-American Trading Corporation, the Seamless Steel Equipment Corporation and the Silesian-American Corporation which used slave labor from Auschwitz.
The estimated value of the Harrimans' Nazi assets is three billion dollars, a staggering amount of money in 1951.
Damn!... but that Bush Crime Family does get around and just never seems to go away... but hell!... no CuntSpiracies here either!
? OK so Bush and TPTB actually are nazis that love Jews? I love history but missed the point of the post
excellent summary. thank you for posting.
D.P.: I see you know your secret history well.
You were correct, Allen Dulles who assisted the Bush and Harrimans to recuperate billions from their Nazi investments after the war is the same Allen Dulles who was CIA director under Eisenhower. After several fiascos including the failed Bay of Pigs Invasion and other plots against Castro with the help of non-other than George Herbert Walker Bush, he was forced to "resign" by JFK in September, 1961. Lo and behold he ends up on the Warren Commission investigating the JFK assassination in 1964. Interesting. You may remember that Cuban exiles who were instrumental in the failed Bay of Pigs were also involved in the failed burglary at the Watergate Hotel in June, 1972. In the "Smoking gun tape" which clinched the case against President Nixon, Nixon asks his top aides to order to the CIA to call off the FBI investigation of Watergate, warning that "it will open up the whole Bay of Pigs thing up again", a remark that has never been fully explained
Allen Dulles was one of the founders of the CIA, who's initial offices were situated (where else?) in Rockefeller Center. A former Wall Street Lawyer, he and his brother John Foster Dulles (secretary of state under Eisenhower) set up elaborate financial front organizations which helped to launder money between Wall Street, Nazi Germany and Saudi Arabia (ah yes, oil). He was involved in setting up the coup d'etat that put the Shah of Iran in power and deposed the President of Guatemala. He sat on the Board of The United Fruit Company, on who's behalf the coup was engineered, in order to protect their banana import business. This is the origin of the term "banana republic". He engineered "Operation Paper Clip" which resulted in key Nazi scientists having their wartime records re-written and brought to the US but which also granted false visas and papers to key Nazi war criminals escaping to the US and South America. Nazi scientists experimenting in mind control were recruited into the CIA and helped design project MK Ultra, in order to create a "Manchurian Candidate".
another excellent summary connecting dots. brilliant, CE. thanks for posting.
Good point DP.
First of all, may God bless you and yours. May His blessings of peace and happiness be bountiful.
This dovetails beautifully with all my research on these outlaw thugs. I ubeerstand that a C!A "contractor" was apprehended by Pakistanis after shooting two of his ISI shadows. Apparently, he had nuclear and biological goodies for Osama (or maybe the pentagon's drug trafficking funded mujahedin in Chechnya).
I guess since QEiii apparently just won't fly, prepare for the endgame.
So right CD... not trying to make excuses, but it blows my mind when I consider the scope of the multi-layered effort to enlist (more like brainwash) the useful idiots... they're good, very good.
"Useful idiot" again here? Wow.
Tax rate arguments are the same. Tools of envy..."You're not paying your fair share!" Fair share of exactly what...well, never mind.
But in all is the assumption that if only the right people doing the right thing were in charge it would all be better. No one seems to see that it's that whole "in charge" thing that's the problem in the first place.
False hope is the great immobilizer, creating human deer in the headlights. As long as we can be led to beleive that someone else will save the day we don't need to do anything other than be the professional victim and wait for the saviour. As long as we are dishonest with ourselves we can be endlessly conned.
This is exactly why the little Kenyan snake oil salesman formula worked on the populace.
War is coming. The Russians and Chinese will defend Iran because they know they're next if they don't. Interesting times.
From the remote mountains of the (gold-filled ;) Andes, good night and good luck.

Some of us get it (but most outside of USA) - but thanks for keeping it on the burner.
CD-start local, work up the chain. Only way to get real interest going. - Ned
Well, I tend to attack everyone just for pure, perverted entertainment value...I am not greedy, I do not covet my neighbors SUV or Ass (Biblical and physical), and although I do attack the powers-that-be, I do it with the understanding that put in their same situation, I would probably act pretty much the same. How does a society keep power and influence from corrupting people.....create a system without it? What are your thoughts on that, CD?
Dilute the power and influence over as many people as possible.
Probably true, but how the hell do you do it, in practice?
I have some theories about multi-faceted representative government...essentially, instead of voting for a single rep and compromising on one or more principles, you separate the responsibilities even further than a bicameral legislature/judiciary/executive and have one of each for economic, military, and social aspects with some means of reconciling between them (e.g. the military would have their budget signed-off on by the economic reps).
Also: term limits, publicly-financed elections (i.e. more 3rd party representation), and manditory voting (like Australia) with an incentive (e.g. a tax for not).
Do it. Lay some bedrock for a new foundation.
We're in the right place...
After all, so few here on zh can ever agree on how we got here, where here is, or how to proceed...
Yet nearly all (complicit defenders included) can agree that the system is fraudulent, corrupt, and needs to change.
@ CD
It's perhaps OK to think in that direction, except.. that apparently you don't know how union bosses work.
They actually destroy jobs and people by shaping them on being depended on them. People need to rely on their own work ethic and own merit and hard work for betterment. Union people become complacent.
I have to work with union people in construction and you have no idea on the restrictions. You can not reward hard work. You can not single out the lazy, you can not critisize them, you can not make them do over what they did not do right in the first place. When the job is close to finishing, the night crew undoes what the day crew did to prolong the job, they literally throw monkey wrenches inside sophisticated equipment so that they create emergency overtime work and they all take time off en masse during the start of the hunting season, leaving you high and dry.
One time they were more relays lost overnight than had been installed during the day. If you have proof of wrongdoing. (Real case.) The spray painted their union logo and "we rule construction" thousands of dollars to repair and the delays. You are a hostage.
But... no one has told you that before, have they?
I can go on and on..
Normal merit shop jobs are 75% faster, 40% cheaper and better done.
Now tell me I am wrong.
Thanks for reminding everyone CD. I have no love for unions but they weren't the problem. It's a great trick though to start pointing fingers into the crowd of slaves.
"my money! my money! my money!" ..."they can have my money when they pry it from my cold dead greedy hands!"
the ultimate divide and conquer strategy is the inanity: one man, one vote.
but yes, CD, zHedge is infested with the lefty-righties and the boot-licking let's-kick-the-powerless donald trump wannabees.
CD - I agree in principle with what your are saying. While the public sector unions are a problem, the banksters are the REAL problem.
However, the balance between public sector and private sector pay is completely out of whack. All you have to do to understand this is a basic NPV analysis on a typical public sector worker pension. Even if you are a relatively high earner in the private sector and max out your retirement contributions each year, you wont even come close.
Maybe when the public sector workers join the rest of us in "retirement insecurity" then we can join together and go after the real fraudsters / looters.
However, they are likely to continue to be blissfully ignorant as long as the checks keep rolling in.
What?
We are doing great. I am sick of all this negative shit on this site.
Look at Detroit! It's thriving in this economic boom our masters have created for us. Do we need any other proof? Our leaders have set Detroit as the model we should all follow.
Circa 1923
Circa 1923 :
After a black teenager stumbles into a white woman on his way to a segregated washroom, a mob of ten thousand whites goes on a three day-long rampage and massacres three hundred and fifty (350) black Americans in Tulsa, Oklahoma in another one of America's recurring pogroms.
Police and the National Guard join in the massacre. Airplanes are used to drop dynamite on black areas of the city.
(QADHAFI is really a latecomer to this stuff.)
White mobs, some deputized by police, destroy six hundred black-owned businesses, burn three thousand homes, twenty one churches, libraries, schools and a hospital.
A thirty five block area of the black community of Greenwood, an area so prosperous it is known nationally as Black Wall Street, is completely destroyed.
Approximately 16,000 blacks are made homeless and flee for their lives.
Martial law is declared and house to house searches are conducted for blacks.
Some six thousand black people are held in concentration camps "for their own good".
(Yup!... early FEMA Camps)
When martial law is revoked, black Americans are forced to wear Stars of David, sorry, green cards signed by their employers on their clothing. If found without a card, they are subject to arrest.
Many of the victims of the Tulsa massacre are buried in mass graves or simply dumped in the Arkansas River.
No white is ever charged with a crime as a result of the slaughter.
And in Dearborn (where I grew up)...
Henry Ford's anti-Jewish diatribe, The International Jew, is published in the U.S. where half a million copies are printed.
Editions are also published in German, Russian and Spanish. Copies are distributed by Ford agencies throughout the world.
The book has a dramatic impact in Germany which, devastated by The Great War, is now being devastated by the provisions of the Treaty of Versailles.
Among many other ills, Ford blames the Treaty of Versailles on the Jews. Although at least two of figures behind the Treaty, Max and Paul Warburg of Kuhn, Loeb, are, at least, nominally Jewish and are war profiteers, equally guilty are the Dulles brothers, good solid nominal Christians and, not coincidentally, cousins of the Rockefellers.
Another guilty goy is Thomas Lamont of J.P. Morgan.
Since we are in Detroit... Let's kill another Union Leader.
1948: Detroit
United Auto Workers leader Walter Reuther, whose socialist views make the owners of General Motors and other carmakers a little nervous, is shot and seriously wounded in his home.
Reuther will survive two more assassination attempts and a suspicious small plane crash before he is finally killed in a second suspicious small plane crash in 1970.
As of 2009, the FBI is still hiding almost two hundred pages of documents relevant to Reuther's death.
The US is well known to practise ethnical cleansing.
Just think of all the businesses that are going to do good now that half the neighborhoods and half the schools are closed.
Those businesses will now have 2x the traffic. (never mind those businesses in the OTHER half)
It's not as if we need to roll our Sally Struthers for the Feed the Detroit Children campaign.........or do we. This time she promises not to sit off camera and hold up a snickers bar.

You are right. All these pessimistic assholes here get on my nerves. I mean, GM shed off GMAC finance to become Ally bank, and their advertisements show they are an honest outfit with great service and a mind to look after the customer with no intention at all of raping them with fees and so on. I mean, these are great American companies who have in mind the best for our nation and our standard of living. Sometimes I just really get pissed at all the negativity and anti-finance crap that people spurt out on this site. These people are SMARTER than we are.....they have our best interests at heart. Sometimes I get so fucking pissed off I want to join the Republican Party.
You're FUNNY!
I've always held the belief that anything can happen anywhere at any time.
Quantum mechanics agrees, for some non-zero probability distribution.
Who junked that? The Dancing Wu Li Masters say he's right.
I agree that we live in an unbalanced socio-economic caste system. When the riots and insurrection visit the USA, it will rapidly escalate to civil war.
There's just too much repressed hate and anger out there. The lack of preparation on the part of millions of Americans is going to be the cause of much bloodshed.
It will not be a good time to be caught with any type of Govt ID on ya!
...and these are all compiled with bs numbers.
Inflation higher
Unemployment higher
Extra income at top that is hidden offshore, etc.
The sad thing is, to get this, they sacrified us, and in the end, that means they sacrificed themselves too. Because how much of the wealth of the top 1 percent remains after hyperinflation or by like measure a deflationary collapse where it doesn't matter if you are 10x wealthier as before, there's only 1/1000th of the stuff to choose from?
Glass-Stegall will wipe out some of the fraudulent golden gooses, plus lots of other frauds and thus actually move those bars to the left.

Why? Those that don't know shit and tow the monetarist line get all. You can be forrest gump and make money, as long as you are in on the scam...you're golden.
Rich does not equal Righteousness
Rich does not equal Deserved.
Idiot Barry Goldwater used to say the most asinine thing ever....'them that has...deserves'
No, them that has, in THIS monetary world, are those that rigged the game, captured the politicians, lobbied for favorable rules, and had the biggest credit line.
Sorry, school had nothing to do with it. The fucked up and non-sustainable rules of our Fascist Imperial Monetarism did.

I have a brother-in-law who is a moron, but his dad set him up in a cushy ininsurance sales position years ago. He's golden because he's in on the scam feels he deserves to be. It's funny to watch him and his other in on the scam buddies "help each other out" by screwing each other over money. Of course he acts just like you'd expect such a guy to act and his wife is 10 times worse.
One more question I have is where will the wealthy run when the serf have had enough? It seems the peasants are uprising everywhere. Not that I'm real concerned for them, just curious.
May you and your mentor, Phil Gramm, both suffer severe and debilitating strokes.
Having risen from the bottom 90% to the top 1% over a 30 year period, I can understand these charts. The only people who remain at the bottom over their lifetimes are drunks, drug addicts, and the emotionally and mentally challenged with a few down on their luck losers thrown in. If you charted such stratification in socialists countries it would be even worse.
I'm going to give you a pass, just this once.
Thanks, I'm inebriated.
So I guess your logic doesn't hold for all drunks, then?
Keep pounding that liver, Sparky; you'll give that 1% income back at some point just for a type-match.
He'll probably receive an excellent new liver when the time comes, courtesy of some random 14 year old Chinese slave-laborer, who was promptly executed after stealing a piece of half-rotten fruit from her employer.
Surgery to take place on a state-of-the-art cruise ship in the South China Sea.
Wow, you really are oblivious to the truth. Just because YOU did, doesn't mean others CAN. It's always funny when someone who gets lucky thinks it was otherwise, and then somehow think that since he did 30 years ago, under completely different circumstances, that they still can now.
Hey buddy, your generation outsourced the jobs and burned the ladders on the way up to your ivory tower.
I love how you project yourself and your situation as if everyone else in this broken down monetary system can emulate it. C'mon you gotta know better.
It's like the poll I saw recently when one of the worst presidents ever, Ronald Reagan, was voted the BEST president. Oh yes, the insane run the asylum, and they think that for the most part, aside from 'down on their luck losers' (pre-tell why would someone who is unlucky be a loser?), that everything is fine.
But if one guy above gives you an out, I will too.
You can change anytime, and even still be considered an early adopter, or a trendsetter. Glass-Steagall
You sound like a social reject. Join the army.
Wow you're an idiot who must be projecting his own drunkeness, but also his lack of social acceptence. Somehow I must be a social reject, even though I've probably partied 10x than you. Hell in high school alone I probably ran away from 100 being busted parties.
When I'm at a party, everyone loves me. Plus I went to ASU, which blows the fuck out of the water of any other 'party' schools out there. We're REALLY are #1 EVERY YEAR, they just can't give it to us. That, and about 200k community college students (over 250 total) and 350 days of partying weather to go along with the #1 sized college main campus in the nation. Walk down palm lane ha ha.
Social reject....rofl. Great inference. About as spot on as Ben Bernanke's about the economy.
Join the army why? So dumbasses like you can send me to war for no reason except your pocketbook? ROFL I'm not a piece of meat, and at 32 I can say for certain I figured that out while your favorite president was in charge...err...being led around by the cock because of his old friend Al. I love the suckers that are trying to be patriotic and serve our country. Too bad they're being used and abused like a vegas whore.
The only reject is obviously you. Someone who thinks 'social reject' and 'army' go together? Talk about shoving a dildo up the ass of an enlisted man who is doing YOUR bidding, instead of America. If you're going to screw the guy over with idiot policies, you should at least respect him.
What the fuck is ASU? I went to George Washington Carver High School and we could beet the snot out of most Division III colleges. We also had keg parties and panty raids.
Arizona State University
after all...you're the one that said I was a social reject. ROFL.
I don't think you could be and get through ASU.
Division III college sports is like the high school backups that still wanted to play.
I couldn't afford to go to college, but I was able to educate myself and get away from the scum bag world I lived in. I now run a successful plumbing supply business. My biggest problem is getting people to show up for work. They're probably like you, smoking pot all day long and bitching about how unfair the world is.
Here it is about two weeks after the bitter cold we had and still home despot does not have PVC fittings. Why is that?
PVC is for poor people. The wealthy insist on copper.
Make yourself useful plumber. Explain to me how to do a smoke leak test, or other means, on a burried outdoor waterpipe. I wanna send it through an outdoor faucet into the system, and I'll shutoff the valve into the house. How to find the leak?
Maybe your employees don't show up because you think of everything ass backwards? You do realize it is possible to be an idiot and successful. Just look at Bernanke, Obama, Michelle Bachman. I for one wouldn't want to work for anyone that looked at the world so myopically and incorrect. You take bullshit and place blame. It's amazing. I bet you do this to your employees, which is more likely the reason they don't show up, because they don't believe your BULLSHIT. Could be lots of reasons though, so I'm just taking a guess. But I've seen lots of dumbasses bitch of the quality of workers they get for 7 bucks an hour. Gee...I wonder why.
As for your success, good for you, you succeeded DESPITE the odds. Too bad you're too stupid to realize the system is too screwed up for even 1/5th of us to be 1/10th as successful as you. (again YOUR experience is more of an EXCEPTION, not the rule...so why should we base things off one of the better case scenario, rather than the OVERALL reality?).
As I've said, those aged ~40-50 burned the ladders on the way up. There's nothing left but McDonald's and Subway, when we're at a point in human history where we need more done than ever (and have the ability to do it). The reasons we don't have them is simple, it's our monetary system (or if one wants to get into it, the body politic self destructing itself by putting monetarists in charge). That's it. In a monetary system, such things don't matter. So they aren't done. Pushing paper makes sense in a monetary system, not Apollo or Mag Lev, or Fusion (or plumbing, but dammit, us small people need our ). Without the little people, your business is most likely toast. Just like all others. You can't have an economy without the people participating in it. Somehow you are a plumber, and forget that? That's like a door to door salesperson not knowing what 'no solicitors' means.
Don't you understand that YOUR business could get MORE business and CHARGE more, IF your customers, actually had jobs that meant something? They NEVER will in this monetary system, and you'll never get rich pulling hair out of the one rich person in your city after Bernanke prints us to oblivion. Where's your jobs going to come from? They won't exist. As times get tougher, more people will buy drain augers and if they don't have money, you'll have to accept less. You can thank Big Ben, and the monetarists for that evolution (because it is a process that gets worse over time).
How unfair the world is? Moot point.
But here in America, we have the right to change what is unfair. (too bad the side you are batting for is actively trying to make it MORE unfair, and thus you're shooting yourself in the foot)
Too bad you a) forgot it, b) wouldn't know what to do if you remembered that you could change it.
So if you could, would you vote for a better society, that in the end, leads to more wealth amongst your clients enabling them to call you more often and paying you more?
The sad thing is, I know Glass-Steagall would help YOU out just in this way by allowing the fraudulent debt to released which would foster the business climate to let real economic growth occur. Your way, eventually leads to your business's destruction. If you keep going with the guys that HAVE BEEN destroying your business (or slowing it down from what it COULD have been), they eventually will succeed and destroy the wealth of your customers, which will then in a REAL TRICKLE DOWN EFFECT, destroy YOU.
I really do wonder how many dipshits that voted against their interests because they were swayed by the bullshit sophistry (like you) later lost their businessess. Probably somewhere close to a million, and when this system crushes your business, it'll just be 1,000,001. Just another number. But sadly you do it to yourself. Karma may be playing out, but there is still a better way that helps us all.
It seems you would just like everyone to take what's given, and forget any aspirations about anything. Don't have an opinion, just do the job. Just do all the 'unfair' things and live with it. Sorry, that asinine reason is why things have gotten this far. 'Just robosign the docs', 'Just remove the wall between securities and insurance....it's more freedom', 'it's YOUR money'. There's also the other side as well.....'we're killing the planet'.
Because you put your head in the sand, instead of doing something about it. Eventually it will come back to bite you. It's my desire to make sure dipshits like you have NO say in what comes about, other than your rightful vote.
As for college, sorry, you were screwed if you wanted to go and couldn't. But since you got pissed on, it sure seems like you think EVERYONE needs to get pissed on.
Get your head out of your ass. Just because people SOMETIMES fuck up and destroy themselves, doesn't mean everyone does. Are you sure you're away from the scumbag world, you still think like the same self-destruction by ignoring the world around you at your business's peril. Somehow you think people's problems are their own fault. Sometimes they are. But not always. What's going on now, around the world, isn't a bunch of people screwing themselves up, it's really
Plus again, you're equating 30 years ago America, with what we are NOW. The next 30 years, aren't going to be like the last 30. So anyone that follows your path from such a beginning now, doesn't have a fucking chance. But that doesn't matter, because you did.
You know nothing.
I got to go to college, on PELL grants. $0 debt. Now dipshit Obama is cutting them like the idiot he is. Hell Obama is closer to YOUR thinking, than MINE.
As for educating yourself, it's a lifelong process, and it appears you better make use of your remaining decades to solely focus on it, since you haven't learned squat up to this point. Just SOPHISTRY.
Glass-Steagall
THANK YOU!! BRILLIANT!! If I could fan you I would.
"Pay peanuts... Get monkeys!"
while it's a truism, it's not symetrical...
there are a lot of serious peanuts going to washington's monkeys...
probably brings us right back on-topic, eh?
PANTY Raid ROFL too funny hope they where clean..and not the time of month ones
Now we know why you are a loser. You wasted most of your time in worthless pusuits.
What an incredibly biased anecdote, how useless. Are you absolutey certain you're not addicted to something that has left you emotionally and mentally crippled (nm challenged)? Because something definitely appears to have had a grave effect on your ability to reason. OD'd on hubris mb? Too much time treating the political definitons you've found in 'Webster's Collegiate' as the Words of God?
Bonne Chance!
If you're addressing me, I'd say you're looking for love in all the wrong places.
Ah right, you're 'enebriated'. Well, at least we know your 'drug of choice', that one has quite the reputation; explains a lot.
You're mother likes my drug of choice and she left her panties in my car.
LOL you sound 16 - Oh I'm sure there are plenty of 48 YO old multi millionaires having sex in cars - sorry
Ain't talkin' bout love, precious.
Great line!!! LMAO Milestones
dingle-there is something in the instantaneous statistic-mobility among the quintiles.
But, then again, that top skosh group does pay so much in income taxes, do you think that they are buying the legislature with those tax bux?
I've seen some supposedly 'disadvangaged' folk do really well because they had ability and could deliver to their mission. Hated every comment about their 'preferential treatment', although, as one old friend said "Meat, every day I have to get up out of bed and be twice the man that you are. Of course, that is easy, since I am twice the man."

Boomers have benefitted from: a huge base of capital in the US after WWII, consistent monetary inflation pushing up stocks and real estate values (where most of their wealth is held), outsourcing of entry level jobs (burning the ladder as the other poster states), huge unsustainable Ponzi social safety nets, and HUGE debt accumulation on the backs of their children and grandchildren.
The worst part, is that most boomers are completely clueless about all of this. (Clearly you are one of the clueless).
You can't buy Karma. And if you don't believe in karma, you haven't been paying attention. Karma can be a slow process, but, in the end...Karma.
Don't forget prayer. I find it's very uplifting. Gotta go.... late for polo practice.
you go on an turn that frown upside down:))))
there is a lot of truth in that what you wrote. I've seen it and it was bad karma going after a sibling who invited it to follow him whereever he went.

ha ha, I did too. And then I come to find out JL was looking forward to 1970. Take care, Ned. See you down the trail.
A good indication of Lennon's mindset at the time and inspiration for this song can be seen in the statement he and Yoko released on December 31, 1969, declaring 1970 "Year 1 AP (After Peace)." The statement read: "We believe that the last decade was the end of the old machine crumbling to pieces. And we think we can get it together, with your help. We have great hopes for the new year."

I hear hemp rope is pretty cheap.
Meh, if the bridge is over a 'chain' high it doesn't matter if the rope breaks.
Didn't George W do this a few months ago? (And then again every week thereafter)
The problem with the article is that the rich do not 'grab' anything, they are handed it through the power of inflation. David Hume wrote about this a long time ago and realized that inflation will reward the inner recipients and here we are, those closest to the Fed are the wealthiest and the rest of us suffer as the inflation eats away at our capital/purchasing power.
If more people understood that money is the #1 reason behind this inequity they would stop turning to Gov't to right the wrong via distribution. Because as it is we have one really bad idea followed by another bad idea.
As a side note, research suggests that education is also an extremely important aspect to wealth equity, but still gets eclipsed by the monetary supply.
The average American can't even be bothered to take his money out of TARP banks. Yet the same person invariably rails about Wall Street bonuses.
The average American is way below average.
I just finished listening to EPISODE #32 on DYLANS website, www.dylanratigan.com . EPISODE #32 is with DAVID CAY JOHNSTON & it was excellent. Mr. Johnston really nailed it as to what is happening in this country........somewhere, someone has decided that American's had too much & we all need to be poorer .......... sounds like POLICY out of WASHINGTON DC & WALL ST. !!! Please check out DYLAN'S website & his podcasts on RADIOFREE DYLAN. ......... DYLAN WILL SAVE US !
No offense, but if you think that there are PTB or a collusion of "powerful people" taking things away from others, you really don't have a basic understanding of how things work.
I keep reading this kind of stuff here, and I just don't know where this comes from. I am a first generation American, my parents didn't speak English when they got here. My parents stressed education - I can point to lots of kids (now adults) in my neighborhood who didn't give a shit, didn't do well in school and are now, drum roll....BUMS.
I went on to college and graduate school. In the course of my career worked with Fortune 50 CEOs and their board members on critical issues to their companies. I got to know many or them personally. I also worked with other 'PTB' folks. HERE's a news flash -- there IS NO CONSPRIRACY!!! THere is no secret room where powerful people meet. Hell, many are in competition with one another. There are multiple camps of opinions amongst the "elites". They don't see eye to eye on the same issues we discuss.
Has this country run amok, YES. WHY? because we are dumb asses and let GOVERNMENT get big, it divides us, it takes from those that make and redistributes to those that don't. It engenders corrupt behavior, encourages businesses to grovel so that legislation does not impede one company OR forces the use of services, etc...
Wake up. If you are not successful at this moment and are working hard, chances are you will succeed with any luck at all. BUT, don't expect to make it being stupid, lazy or uninformed. And don't expect some media idiot who probably has never done anything but attend classes and drink lattes in cafes to have answers
Junk away
Realize that if you weren't a white bread american you probably got a big leg up because of your ethnicity, race, and/or gender more than likely.
Sure, education and hard work and all that is fine; but when there are only 1 out of 500,000 spots they are happy to shine-on a token AAEO candidate for the stats and photo op at the gubment funding dinner/pork-barrel event.
If italian counts as white, then I'm in that bread category. Also, there weren't any EEO classifications when I was going to school and applying for jobs. Hell, my dad had to walk to work most mornings because the bus driver was Irish and didn't want to pick up wops. MY dad didn't care, said it was good exercise anyway. Woke him up for the 10 hour shift that laid ahead.
I just don't get TPTB or "inside elite" stuff. Most of these folks are JUST as clueless as we are on lots of issues. The coporate landscape is strewn with busted companies, investment banks and brokerage houses. Many wealthy families implode within three generations, etc.
Historically 90 percent of wealth is gone after three generations
I just dont get this elitist stuff
statistically wealth is lost in 3 generations
bla bla bla
not when you and your cohorts have your own central bankster
both are naive and uninformed
While I don't care for the redistribution down, it's the redistribution up that really pisses me off.
I agree!

Thinks are getting strange. Love your comments - thanks.
No secret group? The Bilderberg group meets every year asshole
...And the public ain't fucking invited or welcome...
If they are secret, how the fuck did you hear about them?
I think he meant their 'plan' is secret; and Alex Jones is like a dog with a bone when it comes to rooting out the party's location.
In any case he's right, you're not invited. Which is too bad if you wanted to lay a bet on who the next 'head of state' is going to be for (insert nation with CB infiltrated by GS alumnis here).
(JK- it's all, like so tinfoilhatty)
There ARE some PTB.
My friends, consider the following facts, as our lives, and the lives of our children, may depend upon us all understanding these most basic mechanics of cause and effect:
Friends, as you may be aware, we pay an interest rate on our money supply, regardless of whether our economy is growing or shrinking. Its true. This simple fact allows wealth to siphon upwards to the private owners of the private Federal Reserve Bank monopoly.
Understand, if there was absolutely NO government, no Welfare State, no military industrial complex, no transportation department; if there were none of these things, our ruling elite would still be getting richer at the expense of impoverishing us who do not own the private money supply. Why? Because government debt must be created for private Federal Reserve Notes (green paper) to reach our hands.
Think of it: in order for money to come into circulation, an interest-bearing Treasury Bond must first be created and then traded to the private Federal Reserve Bank in order for our Treasury to get their Federal Reserve Note (green paper).
So, the very first money ever created in our current system was first traded from the private Federal Reserve Bank to the U.S. Treasury for an interest-bearing bond, then subsequently spent from the Treasury (on government work), then later taxed back from the private working class in order to repay both principal and interest to the private Federal Reserve Bank.
But, you say, how can interest be repaid if this is the very first money ever created? Simple, more debt must be created to pay off the previous principal plus interest. But, you say, how can the interest be paid on the new debt if a portion of the newly printed money was used to pay off the old debt? Simple, even more debt is created.
Which means three very important things, my friends:
first, the private Federal Reserve Bank is incentivized to expand the money supply, which can only take place with the expansion of taxpayer debt.
second, we can NEVER extinguish our debt because this would extinguish our money supply.
third, the public debt which creates this private money supply must expand exponentially for an infinite amount of time for this system to sustain itself.
Face it, my friends, we are livestock, and we are also heading for a currency collapse as the impossible cannot be achieved.
Therefore;
Instead of insulting each other, trade all your fiat money for something eternal: Silver and Gold.
And while you are at it, buy agri-land, if you can, when you can, in states were agri-land is not taxed and in some cases our omniscient government even hands out subsidies for growing stuff, or sometimes for not growing stuff. Why? You tell me why.
I've heard all of this before - BUT, doesn't the Fed return the interest back to the Treasury?
only that which is over 6%. 6% on approx. $14 Trillion is not bad for a years rest.
Sophist, here is a news flash....much of what you said I believe and it is probably true, but you left out one five letter word that makes a world of difference...GREED....
Not only have we let government get big, we have turned our banks and corporations into welfare queens leeching off of the middle class in the form of tax breaks and incentives and being bailed out by the taxpayer.
You also forgot about those who are at the top whether by virtue of being born with a silver spoon or having earnd scratched and climbed their way up, have become greedy.
When a CEO is making 128 times an employee in his company that is GREED my friend.
When a CEO and his cohort VP's decide the best way to earn a profit is "cut cost" also known as layoff the little guy while approving for themselves astronomical bonuses and letting the taxpayer foot the bill.. that is GREED!
I too came from a poor family.. the youngest of 8 and I too live a comfortable life and earn above average, but there is not one corporation that I have worked for in the past where I have seen this attitude of Greed and profitting on the backs of the underpayed who contribute more then what they earn.
Only concern I have with your fortune 50 CEO is that they are making 250 time their average worker. At 30 mil a year..is exorbitant and should be reduce to add value to their shareholders. I believe the CEO all can live exquisite live on only "10 mil a year" PIGS get slaughtered
People may not know this or remember but one of the big concerns around the year 2000 was average Joes and Janes, with their newly-discovered paper wealth in the form of a flush etrade account, retiring early.
Why was that a concern? It threatened to create a scarcity of qualified labor. Why does that matter? Scarcity leads to higher prices or, in this case, upward pressure on wages. The worker, in a tight labor pool, has more leverage with his or her employer than he or she would in a large pool of available labor. Of course labor costs are by far the largest cost of business.
Solution: tank the market before too many of the proles cash out and retire. Fast forward ten years and many of the prospective early retirees now fear having to work until they die.
In all honesty though I think technology has had a huge impact on jobs negatively.
I hear Jim Rogers complain about the average age of farmers and where are farmers going to come from? Well, I have seen farming tractors that can run almost completely by GPS and preset settings. If you look at this video the farmer is basically just sitting in here while the tractor plows the field for him http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAPfImWdkDw&feature=related (towards the end he even starts reading a magazine)
Even trading. How much of trading is done by CPU's? I remember seeing old footage from the 20's and 30's and the trading floor was PACKED. Now it's just a couple of guys walking around to maintain the illusion that humans still have jobs down there.
Even many ships/yaughts have the technology to drive themselves.
Look at the U.S airforce...At one point you needed 15 people to operate a B-52 bomber...now it's just one guy with a remote control flying around a predator drone (The Airforce has been downsizing) So has the Navy. I knew someone who wanted to be a meteorologist in the Navy but the recruiter told him that they have computers that do all that now.
How many times do you call customer service and have to communicate with a computer? The human element of interaction has toatally been eliminated.
If you look at what a computer can do, it eliminates a lot of jobs. I only pointed out a couple instances but now that I am aware of the permanent job destructions caused by technology I see it almost on a day-to-day basis.
The reason I bring this up in this thread is because it is the menial jobs that get replaced by computers. This obviously helps the rich because they have less people they have to pay but it hurts the lowest income bracket the hardest because those jobs are the easiest to replace with technology. I mean unless you create synthetic jobs like we had with real-estate where our economy became real-estate agents just selling property back and forth to eachother, this paradigm is here to stay.
If the cost savings of using computers bring cheaper produce and higher productivity with less sweat, we all get to keep more of our stinky green and spend it elsewhere, but you're more than welcome to compete with cabs using a rickshaw, if you must. And you do realize that someone makes the tractor, drones, and HFT algos, correct?
You are missing the concept in it's entirety. 10 years it ago it took quite a few more people to build(for example) a computer. In 10 years it will take even less people to build even better computers (if any at all)
And HFT algos...well it probably took a handful of people to engineer but now look at the floor of the NYSE (it's empty) but thats more due to things like Archipelago (another computer)
And sure it takes people to build drones...but do you think it took more or less people to build a B-52? In addition let's say the demand is for 100 drones. Once those 100 drones are built then there is less demand for the workers building it. On top of that the crew of the plane has been completely replaced by 1 person (and that 1 person will probably be replaced by a computer in the future)
It took probably 1 guy to design the automated (computer) phone system. But how many jobs did that destroy? And once he was finished designing that system, that was it, the job is over...
I think we're arguing past each other perhaps.
I understand the short-term 'job destruction' you're pointing out, but if the $230M that used to be spent making a B-52 with say 100 people is reduced and the same defense needs are covered with less money, then that capital can be put to use (and create jobs) elsewhere. There are a number of reasons why this can not come to be (e.g. the difference can be siphoned off by a few and trickle down to no one), but in many cases lowering the cost of production makes it possible to grow the market for a product such that even more people are employed than would have been with the old means of production. In essence, you can hire 10 hand-weavers and sell hundreds of scarves per year or employ 2 operators of a Jacquard loom and tens of sales people to sell thousands of scarves per year (and maybe even more looms).
I recommend you check out Hazlitt's "Economics in One Lesson" which covers this topic in detail in the chapter called, "The Curse of Machinery".
