Visualizing The Many Losers And Few Winners Among The 7.6 Million In Job Losses Since The Start Of The Recession
Since the beginning of the recession/depression there have been over 7.6 million total job losses (not just private jobs, which is all that the government is suddenly focusing on. What next: emphasizing the dramatic surge in janitors and trash collectors?). So which occupations are the biggest winners and losers over the past 33 months? Curiously, the split in job losses is spread about evenly between manufacturing and service jobs, with the top 2 biggest absolute losers are construction and manufacturing occupations. Things are not better in services either, as the bulk of professional segments have lost hundreds of thousands, with two exceptions: healthcare and education. Of course, the one sector that has never seen cumulative job losses in the recession is the government - for state and federal employees the recession has not only ended, but it never started.

The rest of the country is still struggling with high unemployment amid a sluggish-at-best economic recovery -- but the wealthiest members of Congress are in high cotton. Indeed, the top 50 wealthiest lawmakers saw their combined net worths increase last year, according to the Hill's annual analysis of financial disclosure documents.
Combined, the 50 lawmakers were worth $1.4 billion in 2009 -- an $85.1 million increase over their 2008 total -- the Hill reports. The members' total combined assets depreciated by nearly $36 million last year -- but Congress' well-to-do set also reduced their debts by a combined $120 million.

LOL, the only "shovel-ready" project that I want to see come up is the excavation of a pit of sufficient volume to contain the corpses of con-gress, the Fed, and just about every other douchebag who, under natural conditions, probably would have died in a horrific explosion while trying to learn how to tie his/her shoes, and yet has curried much success in squeezing his/her fat ass between working people and what they can obtain for their labor.
Look no further than politics and "high-finance" for institutions that have completely diverted or deflected the natural order of evolution.
