Volume Games: Monday Premarket Edition

Tyler Durden's picture

Volume up - sell, volume down- buy. Rinse, repeat. RoboTrader 3000 is back from Robo Hampton. At least doing the return trip to the closest latency arbitrage/front running NYSE collocation facility on the Long Island fiber optic network is so much more fun than driving.

"Pre-Market".  Nuff said.  Let's see what she's doing later today.  Or maybe the PPT wins again today.  Any battle they win only prolongs the inevitable FAIL waiting at 400 SPX.

It's getting exciting now, two and one-half. Think of everything we've accomplished, man. Out these windows, we will view the collapse of financial history. One step closer to economic equilibrium.

One step closer to economic equilibrium.

Yes.  The current system will have to fail before a new economic system can replace it.  Let's hope the transition is not so brutal.

In the world I see - you are stalking elk through the damp canyon forests around the ruins of Rockefeller Center. You'll wear leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life. You'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Tower. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying strips of venison on the empty car pool lane of some abandoned superhighway.

And let us hope the next system will be a step forward, not back.

Robo's been busy with other projects/regular work.  He does sometimes post in other threads, but not creating threads lately.

Exactly. Another desperate, pathetic, middle of the night crank job. They are trying to prevent and all out "disorderly" collapse of the Euro, for the most part they have acomplished that task. We know long term there is no reason for the Euro to appreciate. I am sick of seeing them fuck with the currencies though, it destroys the natural market movement market.

There hasn't been "natural market movement" in how long now?

I hear ya. I'm just sick of it. I hope like hell by 11am the Euro is in the red. I love seeing the central bankers get kicked in the fucking teeth because they deserve it.

The computers will once again trade between each other during the day, and at 3:45 pm, the market starts to pitch up and down, and then the last 5 minutes, really sell off.

If 20 point overnight es moves aren't the biggest buy signal, then i don't know what is (well perhaps the German 10 year bund hitting an all time low overnight, but i digress).

With not much upcoming economic news this week (US-side) theres not much to be hopeful for. The EUs can always surprise us however, so best to stay cautious..

I dont recall a SINGLE Monday in the last several months where there was not a predictable goosing of the futures at around the European open. Like clockwork, like the daily predictable trading profits at the TBTFs. The manipulation is fully in the open ( "transparent"). The machines are tuned to play the manipulation. The manipulators know the machines are tuned to play the manipulation. Such Fun.

If only such brilliance and such mammoth computational power were employed in the pursuit of , say, an energy strategy so everyone is not back to the stone ages in about 20 years. But , sigh, no signs of that.

That is the real tragedy of our nightmare economy.  Easy money and high finance is the death of a vibrant society.

Yeah the financial markets are the modern equivalent of the statues of the Easter Islanders. I bet those folks spent their last few years before extinction arguing and fighting about whose soul belonged to which statue - who had rights to the largest statue in the afterlife and so on.

As predictable as Viagra or Cialis, because the stock market of late has erectile dysfunction.

870 to 950 range was keeping it real range. After it popped out of that we fell down the stimulus rabbit hole.  Please refer that post where the guy found 45 cents change in the couch and his earnings were up 45% from the week before that was a good one for all who believe we were getting healty , companies earnings up. Companies were firing putting family members to work to keep the facade that there was a viable company.

For me what sounds real is:

If the sucker's rally trend breaks. I think the medium term downtrend should last for several months and go lower than 870, and a lot lower in the long run.
