The War in Libya: It's Really About Broccoli
While President Obama didn't touch on it in his speech tonight, the
U.S. is really militarily involved in Libya to protect our strategic
interests in broccoli.
Specifically, Gaddafi has been threatening to nationalize Libya's broccoli resources for years, as Reuters and the Financial Times have previously documented.
Here is a map of the important U.S. and European broccoli producers in Libya:

Pravda argues:
The
Libyan leader proposed the nationalisation of U.S. [broccoli]
companies, as well as those of UK, Germany, Spain, Norway, Canada and
Italy in 2009.On January 25, 2009, Muammar Al Gaddafi announced
that his country was studying the nationalisation of foreign companies
due to lower [produce] prices.***
As a result of these contract changes, Libya gained 5.4 billion dollars in [vegetable-related] revenues.
Congressman Ed Markey previously said:
Well,
we're in Libya because of [broccoli]. And I think [this has] once
again highlighted the need for the United States to have a renewable
[produce] agenda going forward.
Similarly, former Congresswoman Cythina McKinney writes:
The
reason Muammar Qaddafi is a target is because he has been a thorn in
the side of anti-revolutionary forces since he took power in Libya,
overthrowing the King and nationalizing the [broccoli] industry so that
the people could benefit from their [vegetable] resources.
And
leading trend forecaster asked "would the United States have invaded
Iraq if their major export was[n't] broccoli, or would we be in Libya if
they didn't have the sweetest [broccoli] on the planet?":
As I've previously pointed out, Alan Greenspan, John McCain, George W. Bush, a high-level National Security Council officer and others say that the Iraq war was also really about broccoli.
And
according to French intelligence officers, the U.S. wanted to run a
lettuce pipeline through Afghanistan to transport Central Asian arugula
more easily and cheaply. And so the U.S. told the Taliban shortly
before 9/11 that they would either get "a carpet of gold or a carpet
of bombs", the former if they greenlighted the pipeline, the second if
they didn't. See this, this and this.
Politicians
are hesitant to discuss such important matters of national security.
But once you understand what's at stake, you'll no doubt agree that a
third war is a small price to pay to secure America's national
vegetative needs.

i'd like to see these charts for ALL countries in the world.
I was getting ready to do something like this, but it has already been done...
HPD - right on. If you can keep this going at $300-500 million/day, guess who's winning?
We eat Broccoli everyday.
I would rather lose Libian oil than Brassica Oleracea.
Holy shit that's funny
I told the colonel to get his tanks and his armor off of the main roads and hide them even before the NATO jets came a calling. He did not do as HPD told him, at least not at first. So he had losses. I told that boy to pull his stuff back from the rebel held territory and get off of the main roads. He did not listen to his uncle HPD, but now , looks like he learned his lesson. Now his stuff is hidden inside buildings and the planes cannot find them. I told that boy to fly his planes to Zimbabwe but he didn't and he lost them. I figured he saw the game before and that he would understand what to do when he read the tea leaves on this. But he was slow at first to act. What was he thinking? That they would not do anything? That they were bluffing? That they would be slow to act? Hardly. But he got caught with his pants down again when the NATO attacks came. But he recovered again as he did after the rebels attacked. Now the NATO jets will have to flatten every town from Sirte, all the way to Tripoli, because his men and his stuff are deeply imbedded in those towns. Now the question will be, how will NATO react now. It would not look good if they did indiscriminate bombing of cities and towns, after all they told us they are trying to save lives of the Libyan people. So the advance has come to a halt. The colonel got smart. So we have a stalemate. Now then, does this mean the united nations modern volunteer zionist army will have to go in and fight house to house to remove the Libyan government troops? One thing is for certain. This thing is far from over.
but the guy is a coward and it may be if he is given a get out jail free card he might just take it - if he can find a place in Bedford

Arma-Nutjob better watch out; we're coming for his prairie oysters. (They are especially tasty with broccoli).
well what about butter where do i get butter , will we have to fight for butter too? , wait a minute i have been had, at the start of the Video he mentions oil, so maybe its really not about broccoli but oil ?
Olive oil from Greece.
Call this the Mediterranean Diet War/Kinetic Military Action.
The final food fight.
Damn, that Michelle Obama REALLY wants to cut down on obesity!
Vile weed!
does Syria have Broccholi? Brussels Sprouts? no? Oh well there goes the air cover for the "rebels".
I am thinking it's to privatize Libya's State owned Central Bank.
What did Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya all have in common before the US attacked them? They were not part of the Rothschid and Co. evil empire banking system. No wonder Obama aka Barry Soetoro didn't have the balls to face the American people.
Hilarious GW!
pwehhh, what a relief. I worried it might have been really all about oil. But I am leaving my options open to say that it is not about broccoli - it is about Lybia's 144 tons of gold.
Maybe this is really Michelle Obama's war/kinetic military action.
They hate us for our salads.
Michelle Obama? Nuh-uh, no way-- this has the stink of Robin Quivers all over it!
I've read that Libya is one of the few contries in the world without a central bank. If so, I'd bet that when this broccoli kenetic action is done that there will be a central bank in Libya.
They're getting one now:

Great - let's send The Bernank to run it! Freedom & POMO for all!!!

Rubber. Glue. That's all you and Noam have got.
Right, we're rubber and you're glue. Gotcha.
argula also known as 'rocket'
Yes, Bush 41 HATED broccoli...which explains everything. That giant water project in Libya ain't nuttin but a sinister plan to grow massive amounts of GMO broccoli and force feed it to 41's grandchilluns & great-grandchilluns.
No war for broccoli. Dates, perhaps.
Nice George and Gerald. It is just that simple.

Perhaps it's really about broccoli, but I doubt it.
Any other thoughts Dana?

Maybe it's about unknown tribal religions that make scientology look tame. More thoughts Dana?

Clearly, it's about the spigarello
so you are saying that Barry O., our beloved ToTUS, is in bed with big brocolli?
Where is the outrage from the MSM and and all the peace activist?
Fantastic stuff, GW! Thank you.
This explains Congress - full of vegetables and pea brains.
+1000 :)
and pea's make them fart.
'I'm President,' So No More Broccoli!
All you have to do is look at the healthy American people to understand their love affair with the world's finest produce. With over 60% of our population in outstanding health, there has never been a more critical time to secure the nation's broccoli.
<sarc off>
FU OBAMA!!! Your a professional liar just like all the other vegetables running our sinking ship.
actually.... it's about [broccoli] http://rense.com/general93/libc.htm
and the US (CIA) sent in al-qaeda to establish "legitimate civilian resistance" that we could support (while still saving face internationally) http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/libya/840...
I don't know, maybe its just me, but wouldn't such information make even the dumbest volunteer mercenary soldier, at least stop for a moment and scratch his head and think that maybe there is something fishy about all of this? Am i grasping at straws?
this makes me want to puke.
it seems like everyday we see avarice, deception, and evil prevail.
lady justice is being raped by evil, blood-sucking tentacled vampires.
there are no Robin Hoods. I would even say that Robin Hood was an invention of criminals who want to distract us with heartwarming stories while they take the loot.
Don't be surprised at negativity on ZH. I'm not knockin' it -- this site is a critical part of an education. Still, the darkest parts are not the only parts of any given picture.
Actually, you're correct. Robin Hood fights against the barons and the usurper John, and supports the "true king" Richard the Lionheart.
Richard, of course, was a French nobleman (Richard Coeur-de-lion) who hated England and spent most of his time on crusade to get away from it. And who do you think paid for those crusades?
