Watch The Accumulation Live (And Timelapsed) As New York Is Buried Under One Foot Of Snow

Tyler Durden's picture

Even as European retailers are bemoaning their fate, having their entire holiday shopping season destroyed due to inclement weather, shoppers across the US Eastern seaboard, which has so far experienced a mild winter, are about to see just how easy it is to proceed with inventory liquidations when nobody can get to your store. We can only hope that the bulk of sales have already taken place, although more than likely many consumers have left off they real bargain purchases until after Christmas when retailers bring out the hard-core, 80%+ off deals. Will snow be sufficient to keep the marauding masses away from that $199 46 inch LCD? Watch in real time below, as a webcam tracks the hexagonal water crystal accumulation in Midtown NY.

Video after the jump:

And some time lapse fun: the same picture at 2 PM eastern:

Coburn: Control Government Spending or Face 'Apocalyptic Pain'

"Apocalyptic pain" from an out-of-control debt could cause 18 percent unemployment and a massive contraction in the economy that would destroy the middle class, a leading Republican deficit hawk said in an interview that aired Sunday.

Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., who recently issued a report on government waste, warned that the U.S. only has about three or four years to get its fiscal house in order or it could find itself facing austerity measures seen in Greece, Ireland, Spain, Portugal and earlier in Japan."

Just look at the chart below

Year 1900 = 3.05 % of GDP spending
Year 2010 = 43.85% of GDP spending

http://www.usgovernmentspending.com/downchart_gs.php?year=1900_2010&unit...

And it has nothing to do with FED's spending

Economy China expects exports to slow in 2011

China's foreign trade is expected to slow down in 2011 to a growth rate of about 10 percent, compared with this year's 30 percent, sources with the Ministry of Commerce said.

Which means, 20% less imports from miners plus 10% effect due to "prudent policy" = 30% less demand"

The true barometers of any strong economy are :-

Lower unemployment
Housing market booming
Automobile Industry booming
Lower deficit

If all 4 above are in reverse direction means economy shrinking.

Forget about stocks, currency markets as they all are manipulated on daily basis

Look at China   We all know, China is booming   But now China has taken a right policy at the right time "prudent policy"   It means, China wants to slow down and not create bubbles in the booming economy.   China seems to be much smarter than any one else   Very simple
