Those who want to watch US politics devolve into a complete farce, can do so below, as the president caves in to a person who has serially bankrupted more corporations than anyone else in history. In 2008, in response to media inquiries, the President’s campaign
requested his birth certificate from the state of Hawaii. The state sent
the campaign the President’s birth certificate, the same legal
documentation provided to all Hawaiians as proof of birth in state, and
the campaign immediately posted it on the internet. That birth certificate can be seen here (PDF).
When any citizen born in Hawaii requests their birth certificate, they
receive exactly what the President received. In fact, the document
posted on the campaign website is what Hawaiians use to get a driver’s
license from the state and the document recognized by the Federal
Government and the courts for all legal purposes. That’s because it is
the birth certificate. This is not and should not be an open question.
The President believed the distraction over his birth certificate
wasn’t good for the country. It may have been good politics and good TV,
but it was bad for the American people and distracting from the many
challenges we face as a country. Therefore, the President directed his
counsel to review the legal authority for seeking access to the long
form certificate and to request on that basis that the Hawaii State
Department of Health make an exception to release a copy of his long
form birth certificate. They granted that exception in part because of
the tremendous volume of requests they had been getting.
At a time of great consequence for this country – when we should be
debating how we win the future, reduce our deficit, deal with high gas
prices, and bring stability to the Middle East, Washington, DC, was once
again distracted by a fake issue. The President’s hope is that with
this step, we can move on to debating the bigger issues that matter to
the American people and the future of the country.
So the administration prevents distractions by caving in to them. What next: we see Obama's bed wetting record?

I know the rules that we serfs have to follow do not apply to the elites but it shouldn't be that way.

A friend's company was raided and several upper managers were put in federal prison for having some illegals on staff, some of whom had "authentic" papers.
Heck, the last job I applied for wanted my college transcripts and GPA.
So no, I don't see any reason why the Teleprompter in Chief, technically an employee of The People, shouldn't have released his BC and other information well before he ran for prez.

I never cared about this issue, one way or the other. He was a bad candidate for president, his history has shown that. But, why did Obama make this so hard? He touted himself as the most transparent of candidates, but he was the most obscure. Why did he spend two million dollars on lawyers to prevent this long form from being displayed? He should have bent over backwards to prove himself. Why did he leave the perception of irregularity? Was it some smug joke on his opponents? Hid he consider himself above the demands of the US Constitution? If so, this would prove his inappropriateness for the office of president.
The Donald too cool, takes credit for birth cert. now demands to see school records.

Everything I ever read at ZH revolved around broken laws, broken government, broken faith. So when the most sacred office in the land is taken via broken rules, and led by a man that has broken promises and has hidden his identity (whether American, English, Indonesian, or Kenyan) just as he is announcing his reelection campaign and some of you support him, well all I can do is laugh. I have doubts about his birth and eligibility, but I am a lifelong democrat that voted for McCain and will vote for anyone but Obama in 12 at least in part because of the names I was called when I said in 2008 that he should have to prove he was eligible for the office. He can show a video of his mother concieving in the USA for all I care, he is still a failed president for whom one term was too many.

The short-form Certificate of Live Birth is Hawaii's birth certificate. It is the legal document that folks use when they need to prove when they were born. The long form, prepared by the hospital, is not acceptable as proof of when one was born. This info has been around forever. Why are you unaware of it?

There might be an issue of validity. The doctor didn't sign the BC for over 3 days. The law at the time might have required it signed within 1 day.

I thought the birther issue was fucking silly, and that the administration was only stringing the critics along, but after seeing that file... you're not going to convince me that it is legitimate unless I hold the original in my hands. Notice anything unusual about the last "1" in the sequence?

In fact, if you grab the corner of your PDF viewer and expand and contract the window (such that the document resizes)... you can clearly see that that last "1" (one) digit is on a separate layer.

An absolute proof. There's NO REASON why a few characters of the original scan bitmap would be so very different in color mapping (they are way lighter than all the other black character pixels) and so very differently aliased (the edge quality is completely different to nearby characters.)
And it's not just one character. There are several instances of the same blatent editing around the document. The 'R' in BARAK, the 'K' in Kenya, the 'S' in STANLEY, the 'K' in Kansas (this one really weird - out of place and partially obliterated), the 'non' in mother's occupation, none (yet another form of weirdness - uniform gray, no aliasing), the 'Stanley Ann D' part of mother's signature - different to the rest of '...unham Obama', the date accepted stamp 'AUG - 196' is shaded, no aliasing, then the final 1 of the year being normal again.
When you zoom in and study this document, there's just NO WAY it was produced by any straightforward scanning of a paper or microfilm original. Even allowing for the scanned bitmap being layered over the background repeating green pattern.
This is so fscked up, it can't possibly be incompetence in forgery. The defects HAVE to be deliberate.
