We Won! Bill to Retroactively Immunize Mortgage Fraud Defeated
A friend on the Hill just wrote me the following:
HR 3808 Veto Upheld
HR 3808 went down.
Congratulations to everyone who called their congress members to demand that this blatant attempt to legalize mortgage fraud be defeated.
Here's the roll call on the vote (and see this).
And thanks to ZeroHedge poster 4ClosureFraud for being on the forefront of this issue, and helping to keep us informed!
For those who don't know, 4ClosureFraud - and their friends Foreclosure Hamlet - have been the two main movers and shakers in exposing foreclosure fraud in the United States.

i do believe he is both serious and right. the prime goal of republicans according to their senate leader mcconnell is to defeat obama for a second term, thus imo making constant opposition a likelihood. look at the dems, especially 2006-2008: opposed many bush policies that became acceptable once adopted by obama (daily kos particularly egregious).
too true
They aren't really conservative. Most are the same guys who were in charge from 2000 to 2006.
(And yes, I know that Dems are shit too.)
The House & Senate voted for it (under Pelosi & Reid) by secret vote apparently...in order for Obama to veto it in the first place?
That about right?
But Goldman/Wallstreet was the largest contributor to Obama in the last presidential election cycle.
More moves than a monkey in a forty acre grape vine...LOL.
97% of Republicans voted for H.R. 3808 to pass and
6.3% of democrats voted for H.R. 3808 to pass.
Them the facts.
True, both parties are different heads on the same Hydra, but since HR 3808 is such a pivotal and important bill this result should be a wake up call to the Rethuglicans Oh, so self-important "free enterprise" gibberish.
Wake up !
It is not a Rebublican or democrat issue, it is a rape issue by the banking molesters.
"The House & Senate voted for it (under Pelosi & Reid) by secret vote apparently"
True true.
It's not just Goldman:
Top Recipient of Political Cash from BP, Goldman Sachs, Defense Contractors AND Healthcare Giants: Barack Obama
GW,
This is worth a second round of congratulations. The rule of law has prevailed through the existing processes.
The problem now is what should be done in the way of structure of process to deal with the very large real problem. People who need that house they thought they bought and people who need to be looking for something to replace the house they are going to loose need help. Winter is coming and up North it is often actually Winter.
The administration did provide an ecomomic stimulus by hiring census workers. Wonder if the economy could be stimulated by title tracing workers?
And yet, this gave none of the rabid anti-capitalist's pause...it was well known (to those paying attention) during the election.
I still say...left/right/independents can come together and stop these thieving bastards. As MERS comes more & more into the MSM spotlight we will have our best shot.
I have a dream GW ;-)
SeeYa
+1
Because the republicans aren't really conservatives. They just use the label "republican", but don't really hold conservative values (just like most democrats in Congress don't really hold liberal or progressive values).
Most of those in both party are just of the Wall Street Party party.
[Because the republicans aren't really conservatives. They just use the label "republican"...]--George Washington
You can say that again!
Both parties are a disgrace to our founding values.
Thanks, GW for reporting. I didn't even know the House was taking up the issue again.
I called my republican congressman. He voted to override the veto anyway.
Here is the link for the vote everyone - ignore the all seeing eye at the top of the page:

Wow....not a voice vote?! I guess it is a lame duck session.... they dont care anymore.
Can you say Wall Street TBTF bank owned bitchez...
Of course the above comes in two varities D & R.
Thank you, George Washington. I've been horribly worried about this and finally something has happened to offer a bit of relief.
Take a little time to thank/damn your legislator for his/her vote.
I sent a thank you note to mine for his NAY vote.
RICO.......
SUAVE!
+10 funny
AWESOME! Now lets see REAL HARDCORE JAIL TIME WITH HORNY BUNKIES FOR THE CROOKS!
I call dibs on Jamie Dimon.
HUZZAH!!!
nice - now next up is the lame settlement the AG's are talking about doing with banks over title fraud....they are talking about setting up a fund for homeowners that were foreclosed on improperly, based on fraud...so they going to compensate everybody that bought a house since 2000 because the banks with their fraud and fraudulent securitizations inflate house prices?
What we need is rule of law. Homeowners that can't pay mortgage would lose house even if fraud had not been committed. The fraud warped the housing market, which harmed most everyone, not foreclosed homeowners in particular. And fraud has clouded title and property rights. Mainly I see they have soiled what should have been a free, fair, clean market...something that used to be a USA brand...there was a time we were not corrupt, and our markets were transparent and trusworthy...no small financial settlement to foreclosed homeowners fixes that loss...the best we can do is get our clean markets back by stopping this crap. We must stop the AGs from selling out.
Interesting that the Republicans (and a few fully-captured Democrats such as Melissa Bean) tried to ram this through, fortunately Dr. Paul had the ethical standards to stand up to his party on this one.
A good reminder that neither party has our best interests in mind.
you forgot that Atlas Shrugged already...
And GW, thanks for your guidance and congrats!
Yeah. Thanks GW.
SO, all those e-mails and blog site petitions actually did add up. Mr. Smith did go to Washington and win a small victory.
Is this a watershed event? Actvism appears to work as long as what the public asks for isn't silly.
The difficulty with having political power lies in using it wisely. If it isn't used wisely, it doesn't last very long.
Just ask W.
