What Is Going On With GE Stock Volume?

Tyler Durden's picture

The CNBC parent company has seen an unprecedented YTD spike in dollar volume traded (VWAP times VWAP volume). On a YTD basis, GE's dollar volume is second only to that seen on March 4th when the stock hit an all time low and CNBC was really panicking. By all measures, this is an odd phenomenon, especially with a lack of any material news.

I heard they got a 1.5 billion dollar contract.

Or maybe their walking snake project is finally working out.

GE, Business Groups Call Baucus Health Plan an Improvement

GE, the world’s largest maker of medical imaging equipment, considers changes in the Baucus bill “productive,” spokesman Peter O’Toole said. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the nation’s biggest business lobbying group, called the bill “the best effort to date.”

Some ideas:

1) Stimulus II will include a fat desalination contract

2) Coal ban will drive demand for Jenbacher engines and wind turbines

3) What Commander Cody said

I think they announced two attempts at divestitures recently (NBC and something else I'm drawing a blank on). Sounds like raising cash to me.

My guess people who know see the Finance arm is up sh*** creek and they are using HFT strategies to squeeze shorts and get out of their longs.

I believe they got a double catalyst from the AMR deal, (financing and engines) and, as well the stock is going parabolic into an upward correction A = C pattern which targets about $18......which equals my other target at $17.96 Synergey....;>).....IMHO

For the past 2 months we have witnessed bankrupt companies, move +50% in a single day, in the absence of any news let alone material news.

I am not sure an 8% move on significant volume qualifies as an "odd phenomenon" in this context.

That said there has been huge options volume on the name, it goes x div in a day or 2, and there are a ton of rumors about a possible secondary.

Just another little piece of the swindle puzzle............

Everyday there is another little bit of news that portends a higher dow level.

It's almost predictable. Next is "pre announcements"

This whole ruse is and will be orchestrated like an opera.

Even NOAA is into the extend and pretend business.

NOAA: Warmest Global Sea-Surface Temperatures for August and Summer

16 09 2009

From the NOAA press release, just in time for Copenhagen. Of course the satellite record for August tells another story that is not quite so alarming as NCDC’s take on it.

AMS Fellow and CCM, Joe D’Aleo of ICECAP has this to say about it:.

Icecap Note: to enable them to make the case the oceans are warming, NOAA chose to remove satellite input into their global ocean estimation and not make any attempt to operationally use Argo data in the process. This resulted in a jump of 0.2C or more and ‘a new ocean warmth record’ in July. ARGO tells us this is another example of NOAA’s inexplicable decision to corrupt data to support political agendas.

There was news today...

"Vivendi may advise GE of its plans in the next few weeks, prior to the official window. And it may decide to hold for another year. Regardless, GE is getting ready for a process that at this point apperas likely to add another media giant to to the ranks of the public markets."

Well, the Fed/US Govt. instead of doing politically inconvenient "capital injections" which are accompanied by calls for the company receiving the "injection" to return taxpayer money, is now directly buying stock of whichever companies it wants to support on the open market. This way these corrupt organizations don't have to return ANYTHING. Cases in point C, FNM, FRE, AIG, all the TARP banks, etc.

USA = BANANA REPUBLIC.

looks like GE will be building Russia's next reactor

Shortly after the pullback on the shield programme was announced, Russia's government said Prime Minister Vladimir Putin would meet several U.S. executives on Friday from firms including General Electric, Morgan Stanley as well as TPG, one of the world's largest private equity firms

or something to that effect. Quid pro quo for the shitcaning of Missle Defense. Not only is Obama selling out the middle class, he's selling out our allies as well as our saftey.

With the Fed backstop of the money market about to end, GE desperately needs to convince the world that it's not just a debt Ponzi scheme (which it is).  If CP quality becomes an issue again, GE will collapse.

Don't buy it!

Never buy the stock, but GE will not be allowed to collapse.  People were outraged by Halliburton?  They have nothing on the connections that GE has.  Just as many secrets/favors to hide as Goldman.  Except GE is currently being run by a plant and has long passed the point of insolvency.  I don't think the taxpayers have seen a fraction of the money they will be dumping into saving GE (without a choice).  The crap they pull off just to appear to generate revenue for the shareholders is outrageous.

GE is one of the most useful tools of the... well, you know what comes next.
