When Keynesian Correlation Is Causation: Krugman's Contrived Climatic Conundrum
From John Lohman
Forget high unemployment, hyperinflationary central bank policies, competitive devaluations, and all those useless demographic and political factors that go into the Shoe Thrower’s Index. In what can only be described as a moment of pure Keynesian genius, Paul Krugman concludes that the primary reason for the surge in food riots is…global warming.
Perhaps he’s right. In order to put an end to these pesky riots and revolutions we should reduce our carbon footprint via extensive taxes on emissions (even though many scientists believe CO2 actually lags temperature change). Come to think of it, we should reduce all activities which are ‘positively correlated’ with a rising temperature anomaly, just to be on the safe side. And millions of public sector jobs would be created as new regulatory agencies would be needed, thus solving our structural unemployment issue.
Paul, meet the Keynesian Climate Model….
…with a higher correlation than CO2 (chart concept Ira Glickstein)
But the correlation between Keynesian policies and temperature anomalies is just a bit more impressive.

You are coming up on 1 yr in Fight Club, and you don't understand the difference between capitalism and cronyism?
I have been attempting to rip the guy a new asshole on his blogs, and I am not even sure I get publishede any longer
1) the forst point I made is that if it is global warming you shouldn't see correlation with other non golbal a=warming commodities. so then I mentioned silver, gold, copper, oil, etc. all going up
2) then I mentioned the low correlation witht he bottom of the "eurocrisis" with dba at a 52 week low, now at 52 week high.
amazing supply demand stuff changes that fast (LOL)
then I asked about margin reguirements leading to drop in commodity prices as they were increased.
lastly I asked what effect trading companies that could trade over 100% of the total deliverable amount of a commodity could have. meaning we can be trading 10X the amount of a commodity avail on the world supply. as long as you don't take delivery something like that is the rule. I asked how this could effect supply demand.
please excuse me, but I don't understand how people can own more than the worlds supply fo something and trade it. it has to screw up the laws of supply demand
the basic Krugman problem (and this is an issue recognized in the recent IM report) these economits ignore market structure in their models. meaning the models are diovorced from the real world. as an MD it would be like me having a disease model. works in the test tube, but when you do clinical trials it fails. so you conclude the drug doesn't work. economists ignore the fact that the clinincal trial fails, and continue with their models. As a scientist, MD, MBA, I can safely say that a great majority of the profession is a joke (there appears to be no "clinical tests" at all to confirm their theories.
I remmeber learning about options pricing theory. there were so many rules that had to be obeyed to make the pricing theory valid, that you quickly realized that it wasn't valid at all. well guys won the noble for that, which just goes to show you what a joke economics is. "Hi I won a noble for a theory which works in the lab, but not in the real world at all, and much of our economic thought in the western hemisphere runs on those ideas. What a joke. those are the same guys who blew up LTCM, and keep using their theories to blow up other hedge funds, yet they won a noble!!
Beautiful
...and Glass-Steagall is the law, the standard, the legal practice to wipe away all this shit.
So lets make this clear! More stimulus generates more spending? Abstracts of economic concern. "full employment" and economic concerns. Am I on the right TRack? Oh wait, I've got more to delve into. Capital goods and resources. (offshoring). Thank GOD. I'm smart.
Great idea. Probably I can write a paper. :-)
If you put it in Keynesian talk with enough statistical model bullshit and send it to the reverse hillbillies at The Nobel Foundation, you just might get a prize.
Hot Damn Cletus! *Deliverance Banjo*
Bring out the 8mm, we got ourselves a special oooo-ccasion.
:)
Does anyone see the irony in anti-human AGW Nazis using "denial" verbiage to label anyone who questions the veracity of their theory and the integrity of the data that sustains it?
Fuckin bizzaro world.
Did someone call?
Squirrels were growing grape vine for vino in northern Britain during Roman times and only wore togas and sandels. It was warmer then, you know.
Anyway, the experts are saying that in order to conserve energy and heat we must insulate our homes. Trouble is, that in the summer the heat is trapped at night so you need to power up the AirCon more. Doh...

Serious issues affecting all humanity will not likely be solved by trading derivatives.
It may seem retarded, but Krugman only mistake is that he's too soon. Estimates put loss of 10% of world food production for every 1 C over mean temperature.

Paul Krugman is a fucking idiot.
I don't know about his intercourse habits .... but he is an idiot. He says:
"And these severe weather events are exactly the kind of thing we’d expect to see as rising concentrations of greenhouse gases change our climate — which means that the current food price surge may be just the beginning."
Paul, some advice: Save the planet, stop breathing.
Could it be our massive spending of money we never had in the first place, allowing us to live beyond our means, caused the environment to collapse?
Does it really have to be one or the other, doesnt' anyone see a relationship?

2012, baby!
I am more concerned about the Hydrogen Sulphide emanating from the krugman than I am about any CO2 that he might have accidentally exhaled.
Nevertheless - I dont want to give more brilliant ideas on extracting taxes - Iam sure he would be willing to tax Hydrogen Sulphide too - the exact chemistry and science is beside the point - as long as there is a TAX in it for the scumboys.
,
Can't believe the number of trolls posting on this article!!!!
sun comes up, creating warmth of the day
also due to AGW
The real culprit is water vapor, which Peden estimates is responsible for 95 percent of all greenhouse heating in the atmosphere.
In politics, citing carbon dioxide, whether from natural or human-made sources, for causing global warming is the equivalent of blaming the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
man is responsible for less than .05% of earths co2
we could actually tackle some real pollution problems if we wanted too
fracking the shit out of our water supply for one
all we'd need to do there would be to stop fracking for NG
but that would end a revenue stream instead of creating one
theres a mountain of things that we could just stop doing that would reduce pollution, but they arent tax generators
What's the correlation between global warming believers and bubble negationists? 100%.
Sheeple un jour, sheeple toujours!
Agricultural commodities go GREEN, in the futures markets that is. Everything up right now on the Bloomberg price charts with one exception, cocoa, which is down a whopping 0.2%.
Boy it must be hot in here. I'm sweating like a pig.
For those thinking rain is just about moisture and thermal convection. Learn about ionization & cosmic rays. Revise your physics. Learn from the CLOUD experiment at CERN, Geneva.
And please, let science progress trough observation, not trough FUCKING WRONG MODELS.

Sorry for getting emotional. Some temporary internal warming. But, as Earth, I have negative feedbacks to regulate that.
One Year Ago we asked: When it comes to global warming, where’s the truth?
12 months ago Inflection Point debuted with; Global Warming, Climate Change Or Something Else?
Through extensive research of original investigative reports we found a theme that ran counter to the "scientific" party line and perpetrated fraud on the international public.
At the outset of our report we asked:
The red flags of greed and political control are vital stepping stones in our search for truth.
To our list of perpetrators we add the ever present Mainstream Media (MSM). The dissemination of news is dominated by a very small number of firms. As an Oligopoly, mainstream media is the water carrier for narrow corporate interest.
Today's network news has devolved into something just short of reality TV; where entertainment takes priority over reporting and thoughtful analysis is derided. Adding insult to injury; decreasing ad revenues and the decent of print media has made investigative reporting a dieing profession. Unfortunately these developments have coalesced to undermine the press and subvert their fourth estate responsibilities.
Those who buy into the media's liberal vs. conservative argument are co-conspirators in their campaign of obfuscation. Patriots make up 99% of the population. 1% believes our laws and the constitution do not apply to them. This same small band tricked American citizens into socializing their losses and baring the weight of their fraudulent schemes. With personnel remaining the same from one administration to another, the culprit is a two party system that is bought and paid for.
In that first post on Jan. 30th 2010 we challenged the populist theme that Global Warming is Anthropomorphic (man made). Our point was not to question if climate change is real but to ask if the preponderance of real scientific evidence supports the claim that man is to blame.
Further INFLECTION POINT asked:
Throughout the year we demonstrated; narrow self interest's are central to past and present challenges. Time and again we have seen how the politically connected subvert of the RULE OF LAW. From the cabal of Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Bank of America and their FED induced financial crisis, to a litany of captured bureaucratic agencies and politicians (including the man who promised change) who have failed to uphold the law, to Monsanto's goose steeping march to control the worlds seed supply, and the criminal negligence of BP, Halliburton and Toyota; as long as WE THE PEOPLE allow a small group of elites to game the system and drive public policy, the vast majority of PATRIOTS will see their liberties dwindle and economic prospects shrink. An INFLECTION POINT draws ever closer. History tells us the current divergence of wealth accumulation between the elite and middle class is not sustainable. Unresolved, the preservation of the republic hangs in the balance. -ECBreaking news see: EPA Acts Unilaterally on Climate Change
