Why Did Mubarak's Thugs Ride In On Camels?
The photos of Mubarak's thugs riding in on camels to attack the peaceful protesters with whips is getting worldwide attention:

As CNN notes:
All
at once, about 50 or 60 people carrying clubs and riding horses and
camels charged into the square, beating some protesters. At least one
man was pulled off his horse and beaten.
As a FoxNews blogger writes:
Just seen guys racing in on camels into Tahrir square to join the protests. Amazing sight.
But
the situation is getting very tense. Aggressive pro-Mubarak supporters,
some seemingly organized by the government, are driving into the square
and coming face-to-face with angry anti-regime protesters.The
pro-government groups are much smaller than those calling for change,
who gather in large clusters of 500 or more and then stream endlessly
into the square.
Given that a CNN news crew was attacked, and Anderson Cooper was punched in the head 10 times by pro-Mubarak forces (and see this), it is safe to say that the anti-democracy thugs were not trying to be subtle.
Instead, it is obvious that they were trying to make a statement.
The statement is that there will be chaos unless the protesters go home and agree to let Mubarak stay in power, at least until September's elections.
Indeed, the guy riding on a camel has a very Arab-looking headscarf, and a wildly bright and eye-catching orange camel blanket.
That's a "look at me" get-up if there ever was one.
But why camels - a uniquely Arab symbol? And why such blatantly Arab looking head-covering?
Well, pictures of millions of peaceful protesters wearing largely Western clothing is a universal image of people power.
Mubarak and his backers couldn't have that, could they?
Instead, most Western media is now showing the camel shots and saying "Pro- and Anti-Mubarak forces clash", without providing any explanation that the pro-Mubark forces did all of the attacking.
Moreover, many consumers of Western news will see the camel pictures and think to themselves:
There go those camel jockeys again.
("Camel jockey" is a racist slur for Arabs used by Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter and their ilk.)
In
other words, people who get their news from Limbaugh, Coulter, Fox News
and the like will see the pictures and decide that the entire Egyptian
struggle for freedom can be written off as dusky Arabs fighting other
dusky Arabs.
Maybe I'm taking it too far. Maybe there wasn't a decision to use propaganda in such a scripted manner.
But
- at the very least - it is important to understand how these images
will be interpreted by many busy people in the West who have no time to
learn the facts.

Dumb move Mubarak.
You will now face the full force and wrath of PETA.
In other words, people who get their news from Limbaugh, Coulter, Fox News and the like will see the pictures and decide that the entire Egyptian struggle for freedom can be written off as dusky Arabs fighting other dusky Arabs.
Do you have any idea how stupid that is? Did you learn anything from what happened in Arizona? The only thing you failed to put into your narrow minded bigotry was to drop Palin's name. Maybe you should do a little bit of a search on "Camel Jockeys" with a look at pundits from the liberal point of view... Or better yet - why don't we just pass a law.... after all, the "ilk" that watch Fox News and listen to Rush aren't very smart, because if they were - they'd be watching CNN or MSNBC...Demonstrators need a crash course on improvised bolos.
Never thought I would see the day when a Muslim would strike against a liberal CNN TV mouthpiece. Never mind, history repeats.
What I find hilarious is that the mainstream media continue to support the official line that these pro-Mubarak supporters are average citizens and not police in plain clothes.
Use your common sense to answer these questions:
- What are the chances that average citizens who are pro-Mubarak just happen to be the same and only subset who have access to all the camels, horses, and weapons they want?
- If you were an average citizen and pro-Mubarak, would you choose charging into an angry mob where you are outnumbered by 100+ to 1 as the best way to try and make your case? Would you even risk the life of your camel to do it? Why would you take it upon yourself to do what the police are supposed to do, when apparently the police aren't doing it?
This charade is a perfect example of what the whole conflict is really all about. It’s about the government deceiving and lying to its citizenry, and even when they know you know it’s a lie, they still demand that you accept the lie as truth.
+1
I think Mubarak and his U.S. Masters have made a major mistake with these thug squads. They might win the street battle but they have lost the media. What in the world is our Government thinking? It is like they are intentionally fucking this up. The Light on the Hill is now the Killer of Poor People? Welcome to the secular United States of America. In God We Trust? We have lost our way...
I live in the GOM area. I'm still waiting for my mass evactuation order from the BP oil spill. The real George Washington "could not tell a lie", this one is full of shit and untrustworthy, and uses the same fear tactics as our government does.
Retire from posting GW, your credibility is shit.
it looks like the mubarak thugs are making a move .......right now.
It might be time for Boehner to weep on T.V. again.
I keep hoping this Country will hit bottom already...
"It might be time for Boehner to weep on T.V. again."
Or Barry to vote present again.
I don't see it that way at all. What about the riding in on horseback. Would that not be considered "western"? These were simply thugs sent in by the dictator Mubarak to send a message. The message was to create chaos and intimidate the peaceful assembly. This will likely end in a bloodbath in my estimation.
Ok, Unrest and violence in Egypt continue. Remember the last time there were riots in Greece?
Let’s recap through Hedge Fund LIVE’s exclusive video from May 6th of last year- flash back to the flash crash:

1) Riding into combat on camels is badass
2) They beat-up Anderson Cooper
I am starting to like these guys
Almost as badass as the "Turkish Marine Cavalry", oh nevermind...
Headline: Mulsim Brotherhood stage attacks while
appearing as pro Mubarak forces?
Ya think?...LOL.
i can visualize the real george washington sitting down with his remote to watch rachel maddow on msnbc, or anderson cooper on cnn to get his news. bet he would have loved to hear maddow and cooper going on and on about the "tea party baggers."
I think Cooper was beaten 'cause he stepped on someone's camel toe
AC 180 isn't at all interested in cameltoe if you know what I mean.
LOL
Anderson Morgan Vanderbilt Cooper shares many similarities (royal lineage/fame) with the PHARAOH AKENATEN, but today, it was the beating in Egypt that was in line. How ironic.
AC 360 with anderson cooper ought to be AC DC 360, around the world with the flamer boy toy AC.
You sir...have a very long memory...props to ya.
So, perhaps the Egyptians know exactly who this camera cowboy is...the internet & twitter ain't exactly a foreign concept over there...irony indeed ;-)
the camel brigade has arrived..
I would just take the fire extinguisher from my car and empty it on that beast.
and if that wouldn't work...
plain fireworks? Animals can't stand fireworks :)
Imagine capturing Calamity Christianne Amanpour and making her do a belly dance to amuse the crowd...CNN eat your heart out!
I just threw up in my mouth, thanks. Katie Couric is there too...enjoy the chunks ;-)
How are these journo's coming and going as they please, being fed, clothed, coiffed, bathed if this place is going up in flames & people are about to starve to death?
Are they landing on military bases and being escorted to & fro by the military? On whose orders? Where are they plugging in their little electric eco-cars at night?...back on base?
I smell camel dung.
There's video of the elitist putz amanpour getting kicked out of the square, LOL, she got the heck out of dodge.
The morning show on WLS (ABC radio affiliate in Chicago) subjected KualaLumpour to so much abuse that she won't do promos for her sunday prop show with them anymore -
a radical moslem these days is someone who can feel his stomach belly touch his spine. Its a very empty feeling and as wheat follows cotton on its huge spike, all they can eat is camel hide off from those Mubarak hench men gauchos. I hope they get all their camels. Next best thing to duck soup, Groucho Marx style.
"people who get their news from Limbaugh, Coulter, Fox News and the like..."
just had to go there. like no one else is showing those images? no one else forwarding predictions or opinions that will ultimately be proven wrong? why is GW supporting more team red/blue distractions?
democracy as an ideal is fine. but the majority is not always right, or just. which is why the US is a republic. and change is not always for the better. no one is going to shed tears for Mubaraks departure, but they may when they see who takes his place.
we'll just see what grows out of this.
This site is great for the financial information but when GW and the rest of the folks get started on politics it's total amateur hour. "Limbaugh, Coulter and their ilk" - GW you're a clown.
It made perfect sense to me.
Must be tough now for the powers that be to manage the situation. Must always have a way to adapt and control. A slow transition would have allowed time to put the right wheels in motion. A people controlled transition would not allow that.
We, the people, stand together. Even if that happens to be Egypt and not the USA.
They do the same thing with our own protests ( as seldom as we have them) framing the people as "activists" (read: paid agitators) or "students" (read: rich kids with nothing to do).
In the local paper here they ran a front page (really rare, actually) image from the Egypt protest's early days of a solid line of professional police calmly confronting a few young guys trying to avoid tear gas. The message to American readers was very clear: You will be alone in the street and the cops are going to kill you if you try this.
So yeah, Moloch speaks and the fear slaves listen. They play it that way because it works, Sparky. It could go either direction in this country. Seriously, the fat stupid shits with their 72" TVs might do anything to get those crazy Commy fockers off the streets, in which case they'll encourage the police just as the local paper has been doing. Or things might simply catch fire and burn like a mo'fo, 72 inches and all that shit.
Our day will come. Oh yeah it will come. Lotta people will be staring down the barrel of a gun and wondering who has a finger on that trigger, and then here it comes.
If the author actually listened to Rush Limbaugh today he would know that his analysis was nothing like what the article predicts. Most people that make fun of Rush have never heard the show for more than 30 minutes. This article offered no real news about Egypt, other than pointing out the Cooper story, and the assertion that the attackers were trying to look Arab is pretty stupid, seeing as how they are WEARING BLUE JEANS AND TENNIS SHOES IN THE PICTURE.
You keep listening to that liar, and you never ever learn anything. Why is it do you think he is allowed to talk on AM radio? Because he has your best interest at heart? I think not. Listen , my man, AM radio is subject to deep capture and there is no denying it. If Limbaugh started actually talking about some serious truth, he would taken away from that golden eib microphone so fast, it would make your head swim. its like michael medved always says. this is the greatest nation on God's green earth. Yeh sure it , mike, as long as we do whatever israhole wants us to do. Piss on all of them. They are all liars.
Lots of people are "allowed" on radio, its doesn't make them hacks. All I was saying is that the article's portrayal of Limbaugh was at odds with what he ACTUALLY SAID ON THE RADIO TODAY. I didn't say Rush had any great insight, just that it was nowhere near what GW's article predicted.
name one "conservative" radio commentator that is not a hack. go ahead. name one. just who owns radio networks? who owns media? come on, make my day.
Mubarak supporters used their ingeniuity, in resorting to camels and horses to get around the army/police check points all around the city..
so they were ordinary citizens expressing their support to M, and no they were not M's henchmen that had the help and blessing of the army/police..
just saying... everything is done for a reason most of the time..
1. Because there were no more economy cars at the Cairo Avis franchise.
2. Is there a cooler way to run into a square full of revolutionary Egyptians?
3. If the mallet don't get ya, the smell of the camel will.
4. The circus wouldn't lend us elephants.
5. None of the little Shriner cars allowed in muslim countries.
6. Nothing says 'Get the fuck outta here' like a 1400 pound animal moving 35 mph!
5. None of the little Shriner cars allowed in muslim countries.
You're a sick...sick man. That was good ;-)
Not even if you drive it wearing a fez?
Even with scimitar's swinging at eastern stars...LOL.
Egyptian rodeo in town?
Aw, they're just being dromedary queens.
