Is This Why DSK Is Housed In A Ward For Inmates With Infectious Diseases
Yesterday when we broke the news that DSK was housed in Rikers Island "West Facility" reserved for inmates with infectious diseases, we speculated, jokingly we hoped, that this may be due to his affliction with a certain sexually transmitted disease. Alas, if what the the NY Post reports this morning ends up being true, the situation may be substantially more serious: "Dominique Strauss-Kahn may have more to worry about than a possible prison sentence. The IMF chief's alleged sex-assault victim lives in a Bronx apartment rented exclusively for adults with HIV or AIDS, The Post has learned. The hotel maid, a West African immigrant, has occupied the fourth-floor High Bridge pad with her 15-year-old daughter since January -- and before that, lived in another Bronx apartment set aside by Harlem Community AIDS United strictly for adults with the virus and their families." Oops.

The Post has not been able to ascertain whether the maid, 32, has HIV/AIDS because of medical confidentiality laws.
But the agency rents apartments only for adults with the disease. A Harlem United worker said at least one adult in the household has to be HIV-positive or have AIDS to qualify for one of their units. A healthy adult with a child with HIV or AIDS is not eligible.
"The [current] apartment isn't rented under her name. Harlem [Community AIDS] United places their tenants in our building," explained an employee of the apartment building's property manager, Chaim Gross, of Brooklyn.
The maid had previously lived in another High Bridge apartment rented by Harlem United, a source said. She had moved there with her child in 2008.
According to the agency, it is not uncommon for people with HIV/AIDS to move around.
Her lawyer, Jeffrey Shapiro, and a close family friend said the chambermaid is a widow who lives alone with her daughter. Public records list her as the only adult in the current apartment and the only adult having lived in her previous apartment.
Neighbors also say it was just her and the child in both places.
While as some insinuate this could explain why DSK has been on suicide watch, the reality is that for the HIV virus to manifest itself in blood serum takes several months, so if indeed true and if the maid does carry the HIV virus, there would be no way to know if DSK hismelf is infect if indeed he did have sex and if such sex was unprotected and so forth. Look for much more media hysteria on the topic imminently.

I've been to West Africa many times, and have seen the hoops that the West Africans must jump through to get a Visa to the U.S. It ain't a cakewalk. They must have an infectious diseases screening right off the bat, then they must have someone in the U.S. that can show that they have the means to house and finance their relocation, and on and on.
Methinks that the vic's visa arrangements were not usual (refugee, illegal immigrant, etc.)
Could very well be, still have to have an infectious disease screening before setting foot on U.S. soil. Same for you if you happen to travel to West Africa, must have immunization records in hand.
NYC is a "sanctuary city" for illegal immigrants. Many Africans are slipping into the U.S. without any controls thru the Mexican border. (Ecuador doesn't require visas, people can fly into there and make their way up through Central America). Bottom line, I don't have much faith in our border controls being applied 100% these days. And besides, no one forced DSK to poke his pecker into the victim.
That's a possibility, but I'm not aware of any direct flights from West Africa to Ecuador, or for that matter, anywhere in Central or South America...or Mexico. There are very few "Direct International" flights out of West Africa, there are hoops to jump through just to get on an International flight from Africa, and then most flights are routed through Dubai or Amsterdam where each and every African is scutinized... well you get the point.

Call to actionIn September 2000, at the United Nations Millennium Summit, world leaders agreed to eight specific and measurable development goals—now called the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)—to be achieved by 2015. One of those goals is to halt and begin to reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS. In April 2001, United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan outlined a strategy for fighting HIV/AIDS, and called on the international community, governments, and the private sector to provide the resources needed to support the plan. This strategy includes:
(i) prevention—that is, a comprehensive education campaign; (ii) providing medication to block the transmission of infection from mother to child; (iii) access to humane treatment for the infected; (iv) additional research toward vaccines and a cure; and (v) protection for those made vulnerable by this disease, especially orphans.

Yet, while much has been achieved in recent years, further and expanded efforts are required to provide funding to help countries cope with and fight the epidemic, raise awareness of HIV/AIDS as a major development risk, and improve access to treatment and affordable anti-retroviral medication.
The IMF has an important roleThe IMF has endorsed the call by the UN Secretary-General for this global campaign in the fight against HIV/AIDS, and has participated in the meetings of the Global Steering Committee of UNAIDS. The IMF is also collaborating with other organizations, most notably the World Bank, to expand country-level HIV prevention and treatment programs. Such programs are important components of many Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers (PRSPs), which are prepared by government agencies in collaboration with civil society and development partners. PRSPs provide the operational basis for concessional lending by the Fund and Bank and for debt relief under the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Initiative. Many IMF country reports have addressed the macroeconomic and fiscal repercussions of HIV/AIDS, and Fund staff has prepared several working papers on the macroeconomic impact, access to health care, and the broad welfare implications of the disease. The IMF also published The Macroeconomics of HIV/AIDS, the most comprehensive study so far to focus on the macroeconomic and fiscal dimensions of the epidemic. Another component of surveillance discussions is to provide advice on how to effectively absorb large increases in foreign aid. The IMF is a vocal advocate for expanding Official Development Assistance from the industrial countries, including through new and increased contributions to the Global Fund. Yep, this whole thing reeks of power play. A choice between $23,000 a year cleaning toilets or a cool million for setting up some scumbag...if I were in her HIV+ shoes, I would've gone for the bucks too so I could make sure my kid was well taken care of after I was gone.
Not too surprising a revelation. The man probably has lots of skeletons in that closet. There are already predictions that now he's been caught some of his past conquests will come out of the woodwork to pin him with additional charges. Sure Sarkozy would have capitalized on all that material. In fact, it would be in the public interest for if DSK had actually gained the Presidency and his past only then came out to haunt him, France would be in for a serious scalding.
DSK will burn, and he deserves to. So do a lot of others just like him. Their chance will come ere the end. We need only wait.
There is also a slight chance that once DSK made that prediction, his "little head" realized he would then have cover to do it for real, while blaming his enemies for setting him up, hoping to garner some sympathy in the process.

It does seem a bit suspicious this case. I do not see why would he try to rape anyone in his hotel room? Madness is one possible explanation, drugs other, or simply he could be really evil and arrogant fool. But it is also quite easy to see someone setting this up. In fact a set up seems more likely if you use logic.

Your reasoning is very poor. The Elites can do almost anything they want, either in France or USA. However, they do know that a good PR are important, and that if they get caught doing something like this openly, will be in trouble. How could a man, with so little self control, that he would attack a woman he had never seen before, in his own hotel room, avoid prison or a mental institute for this long? and why was the hotel door closed? Did a maid ever enter your room and close the door? whether you were in the room or not, the door is never closed! Someone with as little self control, so controlled by impulsive, as many want us to believe this man has, could not have avoided prison or a mental hospital, he surely would not have been able to have a career as an high level international civil servant.
It is strange case, that is all. Absolutelly possible he tried to rape her, after all he is obviously mad to have done anything, consensual or not. I do not care so much, but I do ask questions when something looks strange, and this thing looks very weird.
