Will Julian Assange Make Brian Moynihan (Or Another Bank CEO) Resign?
According to an advance preview of an interview with Julian Assange by the Times of London's Alexi Mostrous, the Wikileaks founder has announced that he has "enough material to make bosses of a major US bank resign." While this can be merely the latest step in the chess game between Wikileaks and Bank of America, with the former assumed to hold destructive material on the other, with the latter escalating last Friday and blocking all of Wikileaks payments, as we reported over the weekend, it may potentially hold some insight into just what material Assange has on either Brian Moynihan, or some other bank executive. On the other hand, keep in mind that the Times of London is the only newspaper which has recently instituted a paywall with unpleasant result: as previously reported the Times, has scared off its advertisers and readers in droves, so there is always the possibility that this is merely a publicity stunt along the lines of how the Guardian got its traffic to explode and kill its site several times during the original cablegate releases.
That said, the plan likely has worked, and the entire (at least financial) world will be tuned in to see just what details the Times releases tomorrow, although it is likely safe to assume that nobody's hopes are very high: after all, many wonder just what Assange is waiting for to release his latest docket of banking data. We can only hope our skpeticism has taken the best of us this time...

Resign? He obviously doesn't understand how things work here in 'merica. The more corrupt and the bigger the oopsy the bigger your bonuses.
Resign? hahahahahahahaa
(deleted for being too harsh towards our beloved Tyler)
Sorry T, this one is very naive.
I believe the null hypothesis here is that this is an eyeball gathering event and nothing else.
Perhaps this is just a semantic misunderstanding, but I read this as Alexi reporting that, per his interview with Julian, Julian has damning material. I don't think this implies that the article itself will contain said damning material, only that it exists. Which is old news, but typical of Times of London reporting.
I'm a big fan of wikileaks, because of what they release. Not what they say they have or what they say they might release.
If Assange is going to get big on talking about what they might have, or what they might do, maybe he should start a career in politiics.
Just release the damn bank info already!
To be fair, Assange is on a global shitlist. Ya gotta give him a little latitude to play his hand optimally. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes.
well said. This guy's in a very unique spot now. Who know what has been said to whom
Well they put something in his lunch in prison and he lost a tooth and they removed the evidence! Is this how stupid they are? How dare they mess with Julian's excellent teeth!
Read this travesty of dental mania: Julian in prison with noisy child molesters and teeth extractors
And for the other ladies that would like some sex by surprise with this man, I bring you this: Julian Assange is Gorgeous
Anyone without a sense of humor or just lives with shit for brains can
(flag yourself as boring)
Someone just flagged themselves as boring. Excellent.
Spot on. Just imagine taking on the world's most vicious empire - and doing it with such calm equanimity! They are asking for his head --- but are happy to exonerate the financial pirates as they strip out the country. Laws can be changed on a dime to let off the bilkers. Drones target 'suspects' and dispense with the need for trials. US 'worries' that 'lives can be put at risk'!!! Really? Not as many lives as are at risk through bombing stuff in other countries. When will the hysteria die down and US elites realize that he is exposing exactly what has been written by Americans??!! Yes, banana republic is too kind a description.
The Truth that is "out there" is the most powerful force in the human ecosystem that relies on Truth to survive...those that have created a river of anti-human DNA lies can only imagine when the merde will frappe the spinning ventilateur. The invisible Ace keeps the pedal to the metal; you go guy!
mister assange has a habit of NOT bluffing, and mister soros needs enough time to properly execute a few shorts and a basket or two of those credit deeeeefault swapers
Hmm, didn't he also suggest that Hillary Clinton and the President should resign? Still waiting on those.
I wish this guy's ego would resign.
and your last release was so much more revealing than his
I think a lot of people have misunderstood this whole situation. Of course Assange probably doesn't have much, he is just playing the publicity to try and bait out the world and large government. This is a big game of cat and mouse. No one wants to be the target of large government in singularity, let alone deal with the type of hassles that is enjoyed in that position. However with this in mind, I also know that everyone enjoys a differing level of freedom. Not everyone minds being told what to do, for some of us this is a no option. We are going to do, what ever we are going to do within societal boundaries.
This idea actually seems quite contradictory, free within societal boundaries. Every individual has the right to live. Lines must be drawn, where does one's right end and societal rights begin? Who has the right to airwaves? If I own equipment that allows me to silence others voice, I own them. There are commons that must be shared. Getting the balance between human rights and societal rights is a slow process, often going forward three steps and back two. A reason why history is so important, we can take those two step backwards and remember take that third step forward.
Are we two steps backwards today? There are certain signs that suggest this may be the case. Wouldn't it be nice if there were definite proof? Martyr. Poke the beast, see if he rumbles, if he bites your head off than at least you know it is alive. Can you imagine, stick in hand, wondering if your about to lose your head?
If you are Assange, the best case scenario is if government backs off and he is allowed to keep releasing real information. Less glamorous, but a confirmation of a start of the revolution of minds. If you get eaten, you fought the good fight. Hopefully your story isn't by the wayside.Take note, watch this game of cat and mouse, these are interesting times.
No, but he may signal the end of the internet freedoms we take for granted.
Julian's actions will usher in an period of restrictions that are out of Steve Job's worst nightmares.

There, fixed that for you.
Not sure why you got junked. Of course Job's is part of the establishment and thus of the plan.
Apple products, such a biblical name and draw (via marketing) to sheeple.
They'll munch their iFad all the way to the grave.
In fact, an apple a day keeps the doctor away is a huge lie. For plains-people, apples are like poison. Funny, huh?
Lies, lies, liesssssss.......
But this julian Assman drama, it get's more and more schtiky by the day.
It at least started out like a good Robert Ludlum story.
Now, it's like a tuppance thriller.
Watch all the celebrities taking sides on the issue?
Watch them in the dock in a few months as this drama ushers in the new McCarthyism.
History, rhyming.
And then, look at the man himself. Geek, hardly greek is the new macho!
Yuck.

Checkpoints, bitchez. Interrogate all innocents until the guilty somehow turn up.
Can you un-grab your ankles?
No, that's the FCC's job and it looks like a done deal. The internet will now be a Corporate Fascist state as of tomorrows vote. Shocking.....NOT.
Not going to stop the arsonist.
He could have video of the E-suite, the CEO, and the board of directors gang raping than murdering an 11 year old blonde blue eyed white girl and Barack Obama would go on TV and say the bitch had it coming and Rush Limbaugh would blame the government for the rape in the first place. If the free market was allowed to rule, they could have paid to gang rape 11 year olds.
That is the kind of thing best left to UN peace keeping troops.
To be filmed by Roman Polanski, shown to Hollywood accolades winning first prize at Cannes, blessed as carbon neutral by Al Gore and the IPCC, titled after a Mayan sex goddess, distributed on recyclable CD's, approved for viewing by preteens as a faithful discourse and demonstration upon the evils of free markets which don't even exist, used as a proxy to heavily filter and tax the Internet to a magnificent bipartisan applause followed shortly by QE 9, TARP 7 and a full abdication of responsibility for the US government in favor of the UN general assembly's favored Eugenics and Pigford Programs.
This whole fucking thing is another successful Hagelian Dialectic event over which Bernays and Goebbels would swoon.
Still looks too much like a scripted soap-opera for my liking. Assange just looks like controlled opposition to me, in the pockets of the powers that be, so they cannot lose by controlling both sides.
I'll change my mind when i see some serious pain laid down on the powers that be by information provided by Wikileaks/Assange.
My guess is that Goldman and JPM have BoA setup for a nice profitiable slaughter (with a little help from their "friends"). Julian leaks at just the right time, and presto-chango, along comes the next financial crisis.
Professional wrestling has a more realistic presentation than this crap.
+ TARP 10
And all the old Countrywide and BofA mortgage docs get lost in the reshuffle.
Pshaw, no means to foreclose or accept a put back from investors.... it all just goes away.
(sigh)
+1. I am all for eyerything BofA going permanently into a massive shredder and then incinerated. Mortgage docs, bank notes, FRNs, internal memos, cashiers, buildings, all of it. Shred and burn. My new motto.
So who gets to eat BAC? They'll absorb them on a Sunday night; faster than Jaime got David and JPM's West Coast footprint with WaMu.
I agree it smells contrived. But Julian wasn't knowingly in their pockets. Likely supplied the non top secret info by the powers to be who then sat back and let him do his thing.

If Assange had done the BankAmerica deal before the State Department leaks, he would now be on the cover of Time magazine, instead of the Facebook kid.
Sorry... what were you saying?
Ditto! I got distracted
Pay attention to my words, not my jugs!
As long as those words are: "Unhook my bra, sweetie!", It's all good! :>D
I agree with ya,Tex!
Jake, THAT IS FECKING HILARIOUS!
And scary close to the truth
LMFAO
Supremely underwhelmed
Assange is going to be the excuse to allow "very close monitoring" of the 'net, and put an end to sites that ruin the propaganda machine. I hope this does NOT happen.
It is this kind of idiotic thinking that lets what will happen tomorrow happen with the FCC--who have been getting corporate opinions from AT&T, Comcast, etc. about net neutrality. But you will blame it on Wikileaks. Wow--whose been set up now????? Surely not Assange--but all of you that think this is their reasoning. And you thought only the banksters could fool you. Get your brains back in your upper hemisphere and see what has really happened here. Corporate greed can ride on the shirtails of bonafide whistleblowers by charging you more for bandwidth.
It has nothing to do with Wikileaks. It was a perfect set-up by Corporate Farcism at it's very best. Take the opportunity and carpe diem.
not so sure you're saying anything different. Many people have been saying for a long time that an internet "terrosim/leak" episode will either be orchestrated or exploited. As others have said, It doesn't really matter which. What matters is your other point, the real issue you're arguing. The system is fundamentally corrupt, criminal and broken and will not be fixed through the system. So what do we do?
Dear Julian,
Put up, or shut up.
Shut up works wonderfully ...not knowing what for the execution.
Dear Julian,
Put up, or shut up.
You first.
B.F.D.
ken lewis resigned, did that change anything?
NOPE.
kenny boy lay got convicted, then 'died', what did that change?
NADA.
note to JA: your schtick is wearing thin, bub. drop your load already or get the fuck off the pot and leave us be to live our serfdom in quiet desperation.
Goldman and JPMorgan have always wanted the BofA (Vatican Branch Bank),... something about Satan wanting to get closer to God. And some people actually thought Blankenfein was talking about the God of Abraham when he said he was doing god's work.
Baal rulez!
Since Assange has the credibility and trust of billion of people around the globe just imagine what would happen if he would release any evidence of gold and silver manipulation to the public and it gets common knowledge. And who knows what all the unpleaseant truth conceal in the insurance file? Maybe he just want us to celebreate the last warm Christmas days before crapping the world markets and peace. You also don't wanna lay of your employees before christmas. right?
(d)
Ooooooh, resignations! He must really have the goods on BofA! /Sarcasm off
Somebody please wake me up when we get 'leaked' info that results in prison sentences and/or public executions.
Somebody please wake me up when we get 'leaked' info that results in prison sentences and/or public executions.
If the info doesn't end in Treason charges, It's a ploy. If not, Seymour Hersh has revealed more with same (Nothing) results.
Where's the Beef?
If the info doesn't end in Treason charges, It's a ploy.
What is the logic behind such a statement (other than none)?
The banks have already lied, cheated, gone bankrupt, and stolen; then thumbed their noses at the taxpayers by calling themselves god.
I really just can't imagine anything else the banks could do.
Greed has no capitulation.
That's because the files aren't yet available.
Mr. Assange, I hope you read ZH.
Although, I applaud your sensationalism to hopefully garner interests to your effort, I think your more of the problem then you purport to expose.
If you have the data then release it. All of it. Names and all. What's right is right, and what's
wrong is wrong. We all know the spin..
Otherwise, just please, shut the fuck up..
Tired of the bullshit.
exactly...what the fuck acting like a sibling that keeps threatening another that he's gonna tell dad if u dont do this or that...meanwhile the banks r still fucking the citizens of the globe over...now he's acting like a bitch & i aint feeling it...
Would have worked better if he'd have started a weekly leak. This creates a siege mentality wherein Moynihan wouldn't know what is next to be revealed. This perplexes liars since they cannot control the event. There is always the specter of another shoe to drop that they cannot control. They could have even called it the WikiWeekly. Oh well, by the time WikiLeaks does release this cache, it will be a non-event.
Wikileakly weekly, meekly, yet sleekly, causes bleakly and cheekily freakily!
Babble on, babble on, Babylon!
WikiLeaks: The Touchstone
Your reaction speaks volumes
by Justin Raimondo, December 17, 2010WikiLeaks is a touchstone. Amid all the brouhaha and legal shenanigans engaged in by various governments – the Brits, the Swedes, the Americans – the prospect of having a web site devoted to spilling the secrets of the elites has brought out everyone’s true colors. To those truly devoted to liberty, it has evoked cheers; for those with other agendas, it has provided a target for their polemical arrows.
The Obama administration is reportedly getting ready to indict Assange under the terms of the Espionage Act, or some other hastily-passed legislation now being prepared by Senators Joe Lieberman and Dianne Feinstein, and this distinction between journalism and espionage is quite important: without it, the New York Times (which has led the pack in smearing Assange, by the way) would also be open to prosecution, since they published the cables after their release.
One’s response to WikiLeaks and its charismatic founder tells us more about the respondent than it does about the subject of transparency in government. Like a work of art, WikiLeaks evokes visceral emotions and brings out our true selves: "libertarians" (some of them) are outed as closet authoritarians, right-wing blowhards are exposed as libertarians at heart, and shameless hypocrites are impaled on a sword of their own making.
http://original.antiwar.com/justin/2010/12/16/wikileaks-the-touchstone/
Speaking of Julian, I am reminded of the following:
Interviewer: "Professor Einstein, What is the strongest force in the universe?"
Professor Einstein: "Pussy."
NEVER argue with the Einstein!! :>D
Assange said that the material Wikileaks released should have forced Hillary to resign, and obviously it didn't. When (if) he says things like this, he is taking a big risk that the response to the bank material when leaked may be just a big "ho-hum".
Not a good idea at all, IMHO.
Who is giving up this info and how is it possible that this is happening? Bilderberg or not? Why now? Is this just a build up for a blame game, to find a scapegoat when the world collapses?
I told my family that the NK vs. SK was BS as it was just the slight of hand. Look here and not there. Look what happened. They? will be using this now to keep our eyes elsewhere. Read everything and try to put it together. Now Faber is saying emerging markets may collapse 30%. I do not know if the organized collapse is underway, but it does seem so. So how to profit from it - enough to make it to Iceland?
Who is giving up this info and how is it possible that this is happening?
That's the question Mr. P.
My prediction is that Moynihan and Barbara Desoer will get fired by the board shortly, and one of Hugh McColl's protege's will take over management at BAC.
Such familiarity with the inner workings at BAC, and still time to track all of the day's momo stocks? I'm reminded of posters of long ago, who turned out not to be a single individual.

The Times does need exclusives to get their paywall website up and running. I think they've got less than 50k subscribers in total and new sign-ups that aren't part of a free-trial deal are almost non-existent. Perhaps News International did a deal with Wikileaks, and if so I hope they scalped Murdoch for all his worth.
As for content, who knows? These Wikileaks publications are so huge - they're like the Bible - everyone can find whatever they want in the pages and interpret them according to emphasis and personal ideologies. Look, even with the Iraq war leaks we have all read the nutjobs defending the worst excesses of the war and rationalizing all sorts of atrocities. It'll probably be the same with the bank revelations until opinions are polarized between the people with accurate information and the people without (MSM). Man is not a rational animal. He is a rationalizing one.
Edit:
Sure, we're all impatient to see the leaks, and some even suggest Assange is nothing but a tease or a CIA plant (Plausible - I would be surprised if they haven't done their job and tried to turn him), but I for one will not criticize the only organization that will publish the efforts of whistleblowers to redress injustices. When the justice system, media, and elected lawmakers do nothing or even hamper the efforts of brave people who stick by their consciences and principles to bring the truth about the horrors organizations commit, we have nothing else left but Wikileaks. Sure ZH does its thing too, but Wikileaks is the only (big) game in town. Good luck to them.
well said

Is this finally the transparency Obama promised us while on the campaign trail?
Assange has clearly turned against his old masters. They no longer control him and we all know how this story will end. Maybe he will take a banker down first but he is headed to the dustbin of history after his 15-minutes of fame.

dude, ain't nothing "clearly" in this situation, unless you can figure out who Chomsky and the other usual suspects are as his "old masters" lol.

If they figured Assange was that big of a threat to them he'd already be floating face down in the Thames.......just a thought.
So... what is he waiting for again?
Book deal? Movie rights? A date with Brad Pit?
http://www.dailyfinance.com/story/media/wikileaks-founder-julian-assange...
If the news was THAT big, then he would have released it by now...
Unless...the "Big US Bank news" is Assange's "insurance policy" to keep him out of prison...
Maybe that is why he has not released it yet.
I imagine Assange doesn't want to screw "the little people" for the holidays. Calling out BofA now, and if it truly IS as damaging as they are insinuating, then a lot of people could have a harsh (or more harsh) holiday than is currently bound by their finances. After the holiday, it's on like donkey kong.
Martin Armstrong had quite a bit to say on subject matter.

It will be interesting to watch this all unfold into half truths, truths and fiction.

I don't want bank bosses to resign.........I want them INDICTED!!
INDICTED? I can think of something worse than that.
Wikileaks,
Shit or get off the fucking pot already.

No..the game is Wait..wait.. and wait some more 'till they think the lies disappeared off the forever tape.
He has a bunch of stuff on them, a bunch of stuff.
Yea looks like hes really going for the jugular..
"We don’t want the bank to suffer unless it’s called for," Mr Assange said. "But if its management is operating in a responsive way there will be resignations."
Guess what douche bag..they do deserve it and they arent acting in a "responsive" way..but if you had the info you say you do youd know that.

Being annointed TBTF by the FedReserve bank monopoly means THEY are one with the Government. They are not We the People.
For TPTB, the law is whatever they need it to be, we are in unchartered waters and it looks very ugly.
