Wisconsin Democrats Boycott Anti-Union Vote By Fleeing State
The farce over the Wisconsin anti-union vote has just passed into the surreal. According to the AP, democrat lawmakers, who are firmly opposed to voting on the bill which is said to already have majority support, and who have been boycotting the vote by being absent from the state capitol, have now escalated and patriotically left the state. The reason is that while the vote can not take place without at least one Democrat being present, the police had been sent out earlier, with orders to sequester the democrats. The democrat response: run away. As the AP reports: "Senate Republicans can't vote on the bill unless at least one Democrat
is present. Police could be dispatched to retrieve them, but it was
unclear if they would have the authority to cross state lines." So to all who were expecting the latest iteration of members of the executive class to run away (with or without gold) to come from Africa or the Middle East, will be disappointed: it was in America's very own back yard.
From the AP:
A Wisconsin state senator says the 14 Democratic lawmakers who are boycotting a vote on a controversial anti-union bill have left the state.
Sen. Jon Erpenbach says the group wants to force negotiations over the Republican-backed bill, which would strip most public employees of their collective-bargaining rights.
Erpenbach told The Associated Press that he and his colleagues had left Wisconsin, but he would not say where.
He said the plan is to slow down the bill because it's "tearing the state apart."
We don't get what the big deal is here: just call Von Bernankestein's hot line and get him to deliver $10 billion, or trillion, it's all the same these days. These are the Chairman's favorite kinds of inbound calls. After all, the dollar needs all the help it can get to get to zero way ahead of everyone else. It is everyone's patriotic duty to go bankrupt and to demand bail outs from our money printing syndicate. Lastly, not doing so is racist.

This action by the Wisconsin senators with the "D" next to their names is more aptly described as cowardice.
Their job is to debate and then vote, not run away because they fear the results (ala the French military) !
Start by docking the senators pay and benefits.
This is like something out of the Blues Brothers movie (except it's WI, not Illinois)...
Cue the Daley Plaza chase scene.
I'm thinking it's just about 'missing children' milk carton time soon.
Can the CIA engage in 'intranational' extraordinary renditions... or would that be best handled by the FBI/Homeland security?
lmao this is a bit surreal. Soon in IL lawmakers will resort to humming loudly while a bill is brought to the floor, saying "I can't hear you"; followed by NY lawmakers declaring the capital floor is made of lava,
+1
Waiting for my state's lawmakers to announce where "ghoul" is.
Maybe they can use my 1 year-olds method and cover their eyes to hide.
Is this what would happen to whichever President audits Fort Knox?
- The Next President
Run motherfuckers, and keep running. Dear Leader needs your sevices.
It has been a really fun day, hasn't it?
Almost. Fricking AVL topped 6 cents too soon.
More "fun" days ahead....I'm afraid, very afraid.
Me too. Only us?
Stay away! And take the Illinois Democrats with you too!!!!!
Take all the Dims nationwide!
They're free today.
These democratic asswipes are just costing us more money by having to chase their chicken shit asses down. We have cowards in both parties and I can't believe how getting reelected is more important than doing what's right for state or country. These are truly lost souls.
It's even worse than that! Every day this is prolonged, more teachers will go truant and more schools will close costing more and more money. But whatever. Extend and pretend. They learned it from teh big boys in Washington and Bank C-suites.
Another product of post-Reagan public schools, GRUNT?
Hey Thorny....How many teacher's and public employees would chose to opt out of the parasitical unions if they had the choice? Their scared shitless. These greedy bastards are getting their covers pulled and should all be fired. They are thouroughly detached from the soul of America.
Public schools are a train wreck and almost all the funding goes to paying ubnrealistic salaries, pension benefits, health care and administation costs. The children are sacrificed asswipe. You can take your dumb ass comment and shove it up your ass.
"The children are sacrificed asswipe. You can take your dumb ass comment and shove it up your ass."
Your debate skills certainly haven't been sacrificed."Your debate skills certainly haven't been sacrificed."
My debate skills may be a bit raw but at least I'm not 'Confused'!
Hmmm, good point. Not only are your skills in debate masterful, but you are witty as well.
Please stop posting. You are lowering the IQ of everyone around here.
"Not only are your skills in debate masterful, but you are witty as well."
Thank you bitch!
Touche sir. I bow to your intellectual superiority.
Now kill yourself.
They found those chicken shit democratic Senators at a resort. What a bunch of pussies!

so when does holder announce his lawsuit against wis?
free us from corrupt unions who are sucking the life blood of america
I'm sure that whatever happens, the NLRB will probably use some executive power to nullify whatever Wisconsin does. Yes, there will be Federal action to protect the unions.
*sigh* I expect nothing less from this administration.
look, the paid george soros junkers are out - LOL
Junk Monkeys for sure.
I think they're junkin' camels and Microsoft.
No big fan of unions here... but remember that no matter how you slice this, government promises to people are being broken and will continue to be broken. Union or not, all of us are forced to eat the effects of government irresponsibilty and media complicity.
If that's so, since they surely will fall back on their CBA, then let the pink-slip party begin. Let's see how the senior rank and file, usually secure, react when 3/4 of their co-workers are kicked to the curb because they want to hold onto the Ponzi (municipal employee benefits) a little longer. My guess, junior members will get the "I'm sorry, good luck speech" and see you later...see how brotherly and sisterly the unions are with that.
Miss my point... I don't give a fuck who thinks they're cheated, lied to, reformed against cuz who isn't by now.. or who is boycotting, protesting, or condemning. I welcome it from our dormant citizenry.
Yup. Somebody has to start the ball rolling. I couldn't care less where it starts -- or why.
it's called the Tea Party, and it started a few years ago.
but since the TP is all too white and too right, we're not allowed to call it what it is... a grassroots ballotbox revolution.
somebody has to start the ball Trolling†
Oh ya..., I'm sure Eric will be right on it. ;-)
Perhaps he was misnamed as a child...
A more appropriate name may have been "Place". A little uncommon for sure, but certainly more descriptive.
"Fight organized crime. Vote for no one."
Maybe we can herd all the WI lawmakers and run them over the edge of a cliff
You mean like this? http://cms.clevver.com/movies/video/20664/300-video-clip-towards-the-cliffs.html [Don't mind the 30-sec ad before the clip]
lol unfortunately, you are giving them too much respect...I was thinking more like

Bbbbbbbut... they're missing!
The pols, not the cliffs.
the MSM will ignore this until they decide to take the angle that republicans are hurting the "kids"
LOL , CNN casts it as a budget protest.
those poor union workers deserve taxpayer $
http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/02/17/wisconsin.budget/index.html?hpt=T2
Is CNN THE lowest-rated channel, or only one of several?
Check out the websites for MSNBC & CNN - nothing but a buried link. Front & center on FAUX. Russia Today gets the prize for best coverage.
God Bless the U S S of A
SB 5 in Ohio is essentially the same bill and there is not ONE (not even a tiny blub) in the MSM media about it. Hell, I live here and didn't know about it! Course I'm not a union-y, so it doesn't affect me one way or the other.
It will when you see a business expect you to grovel for the few jobs in Ohio.
This isn't worldnetdaily, go away with the partisan shit.
JY, it is partisan. If you don't like it, go to DailyKos.
I'd rather be eaten by sharks. I'm just struggling to understand why some struggle so much to let go of their wrongheaded allegiances. This is not and has never been a dumb political website. Let's not make it one.
you must have your head in the sand
Everything is always about the money and this is a financial website.

Should probably throw in a Fetchez la vache! as well.
Can you throw in some spam spam, spam, egg and spam?
can you fire them...well we know it will come to this..we are no better than Egypt or Iran...get prepared..it will be coming to your city and town...Unions are just a big gang...no different than the Crips or Bloods....
Unions = organized crime.
So interesting that congress doesn't get them via the monopoly laws... guess monopolies are okay now as long as congress gets their payoffs....oops...gifts of gratitude.
February 16, 2011 - the day of beginning of the death of unions
As one former republican to another, can we please put the politics aside? This is no longer about unions and handouts and austerity and whatever. It's the people vs. the corrupt, and the corrupt come in all shapes and sizes. Get it? Doesn't matter what political side you take at this point- they'll all scum. Sorry to say, but it's a fact. I despise the liberal turds as much as the next guy, but really, are the Republicans any better? I've no hope in humans
@jus
So true, but Dims are sooooo much more stupid.
I junked you sir, because you add nothing but insults.
Please try harder than "Dims are sooo much more stupid."
hello? i'm not your fellow republican and dont try the distraction BS. Unions = the dems.
wake up
Until you are a "repub" that works in a union and are being asset stripped in the name of big business politics.
This is not a partisan issue to people with half a brain who earn a paycheck.
Now back to cleaning your mothers basement.
check in the mail from george soros to you. call me all the names you want.
the koolaid game is coming to an end.
Had the 'pleasure' of contributing to the Teamsters retirement fund for 2 years, even though I was not ever going to be eligible to collect. Unions suk.
NLRB is not the place to go to complain about Unions. No place is.
You are "distracted" by a symptom of a greater problem.
Exactly, the plutocrats want us to fight with each other. They want us to blame the "pampered" union workers for why the government is bankrupt. Meanwhile they can continue to steal unimpeded.
Thank you! Glad someone gets it!
We unite against the frauds and corruption on WALL STREET and CH!
Obviously. The controversy here is similar to those that bring out the racists in force. Ignorant trolls celebrating the opportunity to whirl around like drunks with their dicks out braying about freedom.
This is the real problem. Divide and conquer. Simple as that.
This tactic is as old as Byzantium.
Greens vs blues bitchez
You're a moron. The Dems are owned by Wall Street, and Wall Street hates labor unions.
You need to wake the fuck up
Wall Street loves the unions because they love looting the union pension funds.
Wake up dipshit.
Right. Big corporations are historically in love with labor unions. NOT!
That, and the fact that a few bribes at the top of the pyramid can buy you an army of serfs
jus, I think this demonstration is telling. To the extent there is a civil disorder in this country, it will be led by the public employee unions joined in by the left wing anarchists, the "Seattlers." We are Euro West. We are not Egypt, Tunisia or the Middle East. Those seemed to have been broad based uprisings, but started and led by the youth, and resulting from decades of repression and economic stagnation (at best). Sadly, 98% of our youth are too distracted and focused elsewhere. I ask my 20 year old daughter and my nieces and nephews why they aren't rioting or at least engaging in peaceful civil disobedience, and all I get are blank stares. They aren't tuned in enough to what's happening to even explain their lack of action (I guess until they get fed up with tuition increases). They don't known why they should be acting. A few Tea Partiers may get stirred up (especially seeing the unions out there), but the numerous Tea Party groups aren't organized like the unions, many have been co-opted by the Republican Party, and most are a bunch of middle aged white guys with still too much to lose to risk stirring things up. Give it time and this may (will) change, but for now we are just a poor imitation of Europe.
"Seattlers", oh God, ya got me.
In all fairness, what does your 20 year old have to riot about? I'm presuming she is still in school, so everything is paid for. She hasn't had to pay her loan back, so she doesn't know how painful that can be. She doesn't (presumably) have a house or a kid, so those expenses aren't slapping her in the face. What life experience at 20 can she draw on?
Remember the youth don't have the same perspective/knowledge because of their age. Until they have a reason to get involved, they will remain unaware (for the most part).
@Confused. Good point. That's fair. Of course, I would never encourage my daughter, nieces, or nephews to resort to violence. It's a rhetorical question directed to them more to gauge their awareness of how the bankruptcy of the nation is going to effect them. In another sense, they may just be sitting back and watching what a mess their parents and grandparents are making and knowing that they will have the last laugh in this Fourth Turning.
FYI, it appears this may be spreading to Ohio.
So right; well said.
Pandemonium could ensue if those Wisconsin correctional department employees become angry enough to free all the prisoners. No wonder the governor is ready to call in the National Guard. The prisons must be secured.
First off...SCREW the public sector unions. Secondly, as a WI Nat Guard member I can tell you that he only told us to prepare to secure prisons if the cry baby, gov teet sucking, union members walked out. He did NOT tell us to prepare to bash dim witted public skooool teacher's heads. Fire them all, I will gladly take the job tomorrow.
Nice -- divide and rule is working!

Damnit... all their hard work was undone with the press of the keys. You are an evil, evil four eyed dog.
Guys, stop. All the adding and subtracting is confusing Timmy Geithner.
given the intelligence and compassion you just displayed in your post...you should not be allowed to come within 100 miles of a child in need of an educator.
please...stick to being a weekend warrior, playing with your x-box and enjoying the shame of servitude that your uniform represents and leave the teaching to people who can read and write.
"an educator."
BWAHAHAAHAHAAHHAAHHAHHAAHAHAHHAHAHAH!
You mean the fat, bottom of the barrel twits who put in a whopping 35 weeks a year brainwashing the yutes at the local governmnet youth indoctrination prison camps?!?! Yep...stamped an educator by other underperforming low lives...guess that and tenure makes you a saint.
An "educator"! What a f**k*ng tool...
no I'm talking about the people burdened with the thankless and hopeless task of having to teach your useless spawns that two plus two does not equal a horse.

"please...stick to being a weekend warrior, playing with your x-box and enjoying the shame of servitude that your uniform represents and leave the teaching to people who can read and write."
http://hotair.com/archives/2011/02/17/the-historical-illiteracy-of-wisco...
The historical illiteracy of Wisconsin teachersFuck you Alien. It's self serving, snotty assholes just like you that make me thirst for an upheaval. Soon, Precious, so soon.
What are you gonna do? Hand out IQ tests and execute anybody that scores over 75 you fucking buffoon?
Not everyone; perhaps just start with you moron.
Is it possible for you to respond in anger without profanity? Try it if you can as you may be taken seriously for the first time in you life.
It is quite obvious that alien was educated in the fine art of the English language by a union teacher at a public school.
LOL!
Actually, I'm a small business owner in healthcare, adjunct prof in anatomy at local juco, hate video games, have a doctorate and only serve because I love the comraderie with my brothers and sisters as well as love fixing radar in the Air NG. Nice attempt at stereotyping me into your nice little angst covered box though. Can't stand either political party but, more than that, despise unions. Like I said, I will gladly get my teaching cert and take a science based teachers spot in a heartbeat. Let the firing begin and some slot will open in our fine cheeseville.
Secure prisons? The US is in sad shape then.
mela, nice job flushing out the Libs. You are most likely more qualified than those sick 'teachers', anyway.
Why is it only Libs hit the 'junk' button?
"Why is it only Libs hit the 'junk' button?"
Because you add nothing of value to this. Hurl more insults. It makes it easy to know whose posts to ignore.
Don't know that is so much the libtards as it is the tough guy pseudo-anarchy types that will be crying at my doorstep when they need food, shelter or the means to fix their Home Depot generator when the SHTF...;)
How do you find the time to shout off when your mouth is affixed to government teet...NG/ Member (=tool in some parlance) , you are what you decry, exquisite absurdity methinks.
Skippy...If you need something to do...how about chasing down a box of grid Sq.'s for me K.
Just a guess but, I'd wager that I pay more with one quarterly fed payment than you do in a year. How's that return from the teet going to be for you this year?
What are the common goals you share with the Koch brothers who organized opposition to the unions? If this benefits the Kochs, how does this benefit you? Check your information source and determine as a public servant, if you think you would really have to stand in for prison guards striking or, if the message was a scare tactic to frighten senior dairy farmer widows. How many times have you gaurded prisoners since they obtained the right to organize in 1959?
Been thinking a lot about that. Probably will happen soon in IL, or at least threats will be made "if citizens don't want to pay..."
Next, Washington will allow state bankruptcies, after which municipalities will default. Just my opinion, but it would excuse all debt and preclude politicians from voting...so probably we can count on that happening.
It's gotta start somewhere, might as well be Wisconsin!
BTW- The "govner" put the National Guard on alert... oh boy. Hello Egypt! He we come...
Is he afraid of prisoners or teachers?
anti-union fever will bring the commies back in full control.
count on it.
the vast number of sheep in this country when put to the test will beg and cry for a union to save their large ass.
It's coming. It's out there can you hear it yet?
Embrace it. Bring the commies out into the open for all to see.
Check their 'civility'.
You are amazing. Do you do anything around here other than insult people? Commies? Seriously? Please stop posting.
How many unions did the USSR allow within their boarders? Or any communist or fascist country for that matter?
You are painful on the uptake.
You are in a fascist paradise.
Check what happens as that paradise COLLAPSES.
Solidarity X100 ring a bell for ya.
Painful i say.
Failed to answer the question.
He answered the question that wasn't asked.
Please explain which union is going to save whom, and how, and why.
"anti-union fever will bring the commies back in full control"
I think you've got this backward.
Surely they can trap at least one democrat lawmaker. Tell them they won a free ticket to an al gore sponsored global warming event, but they have to pick up the ticket in person.
Better yet, why can't one of the republicans just switch parties for a day? Hell, he/she could even vote no on the issue just to remain above board and stay true to their new base.
And for what it's worth, I work in the private sector, I pay 50% of my health care premiums, and I have no pension. I'm not trying to slam dems here, I'm just saying these public workers have got to wake up to reality.
Did they run to that liberal safe house of Illinois???? Keep em..
Make it right with the people please: TO:useless corrupt elected officials, take the money back from the banks and give it to the people, and give yourself a pay cut, no more lobbyists, term limits, all elected officials go on medicaid and no more pork legislation, no more free insider trading, ohh by the way, good luck getting re-elected next year!!
ROTFLMAO!

Henry II: I marvel at you after all these years. Still like a democratic drawbridge: going down for everybody.
Eleanor: At my age there's not much traffic anymore.
And spotteth twice they the camels before the third hour. And so the Midianites went forth to Ram Gilead in Kadesh Bilgemath by Shor Ethra Regalion, to the house of Gash-Bil-Betheul-Bazda, he who brought the butter dish to Balshazar and the tent peg to the house of Rashomon, and there slew they the goats, yea, and placed they the bits in little pots. Here endeth the lesson
Seems like dereliction of duty to me. Run dems run, your union buddies are getting their taxpayer funded lollypops taken away.
No it's called taking a stand.
Tyler, you forgot Satanic
what a bunch of pussies.......... I hope they aren't paying them while they are on vacation
When the Texas Democrats did that over redistricting about 6-8 years ago, the Republicans used the police to tract them down, then got in legal trouble for using public funds for their own political ends, or something like that. In the end, redistricting passed.
Nobody expects a republican inquisition...or do they? :)

I'll trade a Dayton, Franken and Klobuchar for one Walker.. WI is only 4 billion in the hole MN 6 billion. Dayton's solution makes us the highest tax state in the soon to be wrenched apart union. Pan the prog, where are you?
I quit drinking the water in MN years ago. Don't know what's in it but there has to be something. I have been shopping for a new state for primary residence.
Impossible! You've had that super train for many years now. Just another Faux News bot... (disclaimer: this post is sarcastic and I hate both parties just one a little more than the other)
Calmyourself
"I'll trade a Dayton, Franken and Klobuchar for one Walker."
Franken just voted to extend the Patriot Act. I guess when he was running he read the 4th ammendment out loud.
At least Giffords has an excuse for her fucked up decisions.
(Normally I would have claimed Franken was drunk and forgot. But he penned
When a Man Loves a Womanabout his experiences with an Alcoholic wife)
Well we must remember that the Packers won the Super Bowl so it's just natural to take an early spring vacation. I remember seeing some of this in many states the last time we weren't in a recession.

Dammit, they are in Canadia, where there is no extradition for Capitol crimes!
What about the National Guard, presumably they can cross State lines. Not that I care but, y'know..well, whatever...they ran away! Really, huh. from a vote. Wow. that sounds like some serious law-making.
Ask those 10,000 fireman, police, teachers, prison guards etc. what they think of Benutty's strategy to create a wealth effect via running up the markets with the primary dealers high frequency trading. Only problem is the 10 % getting the wealth effect will not spend enough to help the WORKING AMERICAN FAMILIES. People do not mind sacrificing as long as EVERYONE sacrifices. Last I checked the banks gave out 144 billion in bonues again. The tax money should be returned to the pockets of the workers in america directly. All workers get an equal share, even the banksters. I just saw something on Bloomberg. It is just bad business to try to collect capitol to grow a company in a casino stock market. Keep going High frequency traders, you are destroying the goose that laid the golden egg.
Spineless democrats, just like their leader Barama.
It seems that a lot of people on this board have the same funny bone in liking Monty Python....
