Xenon 133 Dispersion Animation - Radionuclide Has Blanketed Entire United States
Update: we are truly amazed that presenting what is a pure fact without any spin associated to it, can generate such an outbreak of insecurity and outright fear-driven responses. We had always expected that readers here can receive and interpret facts as presented, instead of demanding filtering for what some deem is unpleasant information. We urge that sub-segment to immediately and permanently orient their attention to other media outlets that does the prefiltering for them, as per the government's mandate of not spreading panic.
Radioactive Xenon 133 (5.243 day half life) has now reached the entire Eastern seaboard, and soon will likely cover the entire world.

Additionally, below is a projection of radioactive Iodine over Japan...

And radioactive Cesium over the Pacific

Please, what is this CNBC BS. The sky is NOT falling.
Go easy. The sky is not falling. Just the radioactive fallout. There, now you feel better.
"We're fucked. We will all have 3 nipples and hairy palms soon"
Green shoots bitchez?
Eat a lot of food contains Iondine: kelp and seaweed. You can find these from local orient supermarkets. Korean seaweeds are quite tasty.
How long before all the kelp is contaminated with radioactive iodine? All this shit is pouring into the ocean when they dump sea water on the nuke plant.
I love it on sprinkled on popcorn with honey!
My 8 sea kelp bottles arrived today, and I'll double my prep supply of long-dated pacific salmon, tuna and sardines this week, but I can anticipate not wanting to buy more after a week or two if the reactor radiation to air and sea gets worse and isn't controlled or buried. Trying to find out how long the seafood pipeline is, and how soon any contaminated stuff, however slight, could hit the shelves. Seems reasonable to do in light of Tepco and gov't. witholding or understating data readings. A**holes.
Xenon 133 is used in medicine in the USA for VQ scans to look for pulmonary embolism...not so much anymore since CT pulmonary arteriograms are very popular.

</sarc>
This is great information, but it doesn't imply that we're all dead... it doesn't really imply anything.
Its sad that we have to come to this blog for the truth when ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX carry none of what is really critical to the safety of our population and the security of this country. Now, we're in 3 wars, our soldiers are photographed w/ dead afghanies, we have no money(but what China decides to give us), unemployment is higher than ever, we have a 14 trillion dollar national debt, our trade deficit hits new highs monthly, Europe has 4 countries teetering on bankruptcy Ireland, Greece, Portugal and Spain, radiation is spreading quickly from Japan, the gulf is once again filling with oil from a new oil spill and our President is on Vacation to South America. Disgusting!
You should have done something about it when this whole orchestrated mess could have been avoided, the signs have been there for a long time now.
Evil always triumphs, and their plans are going swimmingly unfortunately. I bet they can't believe how well things have gone for their NWO agenda.
At least he's made some great NCAA picks
I watched more Fox News and CNN this weekend than I have in years. I felt like one of those bio-robots. I could go in for about 30 seconds and then I had to escape as fast as possible. I think I shortened my life expectancy and I lost some of my hair. I hate those channels.
and they lowered my IQ and I suspekt i'm not alone
Was watching CNBC this morning for the first time in about 6 months (seriously). It seems they know their audience has gone away. It was like I was watching a kid show – but in an insulting way – more like they know it doesn’t matter who’s watching so, who gives a fuck. Very bizarre.
Well, besides all that, along with Fraudclosures, crashing home prices, a printicidal maniac in charge at the Fed, Govts spending like there's no tomorrow, etc, how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln?? :>D
Explains why my balls are glowing... :/
The shit has a completely inconsequential halflife...JFC the hysteria.
"Oh, that was nothing. It was just a little bump against a tiny iceberg. Would you like another Singapore Sling?"
Just kidding Trav. I love your posts. You take a lot of flack but don't let it force you to go away. Keep up the anger.
better watch your back there trav. i see a lot of the official trav7777 fan club members around here today posting usual..........

Does it scare anybody else to think that it might be 50 firefighters that are separating us from nuclear armageddon?
nuclear armageddon? This at most a nuclear battle of Leningrad.
On a side note: we've increased the 'safe levels' of alcohol comsumption at our house this week.

Matt: Oh yeah, Violet. There's some water on the floor in there. Would you clean it up please?
Violet: Okay, but I've never been in there before.
Matt: I know. We usually don't, but it's a mess. But don't bother waxing, okay?
Violet: Okay.
that skit cracked me up. I still remember it till this day. belushi has been gone a long time now.......
Me too, I loved those guys. I went ahead and popped the $1 or $2 for the video of the full episode on Amazon. I'm glad I did. Not only does it have the pepsi syndrome on there, it also has the episode of Todd and Lisa, where Bill Murray's character is trying to get Gilda Radner's character drunk. It's just hilarious and sweet too.
I remember Todd and Lisa ..........Poor Gilda has been gone a long , long time now too......
/NKD futures down 1% so far since close. Looks like we're entering a second correction if you follow elliott wave theory.
Then again, probably another case of BTFD. It's 1% down. CNBC says it's a BARGAIN!
On that same ZAMG site, the Cs137 plume is shown in a clear and direct course towards British Columbia. I guess that's why all the smart money is dumping real estate in B.C.

I'm just waiting for confirmation that Xenon 133 has landed on the GoM "GOOP" (I mean sediment). I'd pay good money to see Barry do a photo op in that shit. Reminds me of that joke. "What's black and white and glows all over?"
Hey I partied at Xenon back in the day....coolest place ! :-)
So we got Xenon and Iodine 135 on the West coast, Corexit and oil on the South coast, which leaves the East coast unless Cumbre Vieja sends that killer tsunami our way and then poof!.....
sounds like a computer cpu chip.........
OK so what is the concentrations? what is the radiation levels? This could mean a grand total of nothing - OR it could be significant. Without knowing the answers to the first two questions we cant answer the third.
you can see the rad levels on the epa website. this is a grand total of nothing, at least so far.
it will take a full-blown meltdown for clinically significant radiation levels to reach mainland USA, period.
There used to be a PSA that went something like "Have you hugged your kid today?" - We need one that goes something like "Have you kicked an elitist bastard in the balls today?"
I think if we all did that a few times a day the rage levels would go down here on ZH, as one of the many side benefits.
Does this mean our imports are up?
And they said Florida would be safe. Now the cockroaches and gators again inherit the earth.
Sorry to say, very happy that this is all happening at once. Every so called rebel, terrorist or whatever the media calls them will lay down their weapon of choice. Each will do what they knew long ago, remove the money from the banks.. This war will end in less than 5 days. People like Warren Buffet will no longer be able to rebuild cities such as Tokyo. The people will hold & fund new development projects, rather than the banks.

My heart goes out to all the lost lives however, this little black book in practice for 2,000+ years has to come to an end. History is frantically being erased, just research how these invisible family empires were taken out in the past. They fear you now more than any prior generations did.

Annimation looks good, but since I can not read German and the most important levels from the Japan-wide monitoring system are not available (under survey), how did these people develop the model, concentrations, calibrate and verify the models to match real data? Not trying to bust any ballz, just curious if this is for dramatic effect or based on real data modled by people that know what they are doing.

Sometimes I feel guilty for bringing a child into this f-ed up world. The politicians on all sides are the problem and we the people have done nothing but sit back and let them fail us with impunity. Its time for Joe the Plumber to be president. Atleast he knows how to clean up a shi#^y mess!
Certain isotopes of Xenon gas produced as a result of fission.
" Besides these stable forms, there are over 40 unstable isotopes that have been studied. 129Xe is produced by beta decay of 129I, which has a half-life of 16 million years, while 131mXe, 133Xe,133mXe, and 135Xe are some of the fission products of both 235U and 239Pu,[60]"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenon
So the so-called shut down reactors are still functioning when Xenon133 is produced.
"So the so-called shut down reactors are still functioning when Xenon133 is produced."
Not necessarily so. The fission products are escaping from their "fuel rods". That implies core damage if the exterior cladding is allowing their release. The Iodine decays to Xenon, so that would be consistent with a fuel-breach scenario. In a normal shut down reactor, Xenon builds in until it reaches equilibrium some time after shutdown. The Xenon peaks since the main removal method (absorption of thermal neutrons "burnout") is not available in a subcritical reactor.
I should not have gone running today.
I love the positive spin CNN puts on it reporting. To whit "But even the highest readings -- .11 millisieverts some 30 kilometers northwest of the plant -- were still considered significantly below what's considered dangerous to humans." Allow me to follow this with their supposition from several paragraphs previous to this that "For reference, an individual in a developed country naturally is exposed to 3 millisieverts of radiation a year". Now, I am no nuclear engineer, but if my math is right, and please check it, .11 millisieverts PER HOUR (which they neglected to mention in the radiation reading) works out to roughly 963.6 millisieverts a year, roughly a year's worth of exposure per day!!!! I imagine the isotopes decay and release less and less radiation as they do so, but still, this hardly seems safe.
It's our penance for banning public smoking, and the corresponding Rn-86. The universe will find a way.
I think I have a solution. We can get a grant to rent a cruse ship, and put all the people that say it is no big deal on it. Anchor out side of the "dangerous"limit in the pacific (but as close as they let ordinary peons live). And let them have a week long all expense paid party. Then In ten years we can ask the survivors what they think.
Free energy. Now if I can just stuff it back into that light bulb...
Seriously!?!? Xenon-133? WTF? When did we all become wimps?
I ate Cs-137 for lunch, with a chaser of K-32. WTF are you all hiding under your sheets for? Screw 'em!
Really? Y'all are worrying about Xe-133? Half life of less than a week? Really? Oh, come on! Did none of you here get in a car today -- because you were more likely to die from that than from teh radioactive fallout.
I guess I missed all the 12-legged cockroaches on the east coast crawling around killing us from the 900 open-air nuclear explosions during the 50's and 60's.

Xenon Xe 133 is a readily diffusible gas which is neither utilized nor produced by the body. It passes through cell membranes, freely exchanges between blood and tissue, and tends to concentrate more in body fat than in blood, plasma, water or protein solutions. In the concentrations recommended for diagnostic studies, it is physiologically inactive. Inhaled Xenon Xe 133 Gas will enter the alveolar wall and the pulmonary venous circulation via capillaries. Most of the Xenon Xe 133 Gas that enters the circulation from a single breath is returned to the lungs and exhaled after a single pass through the peripheral circulation.

How did the world survive Chernobyl; a total meltdown? This is the question we need to ask to put this in perspective. How much harmful radiation was actually spread and how far? How high were cancer rates inside and outside of the fire zone? Apparently, if they're giving tours in Chernobyl now then the effects couldn't have been pandemic. How much hype is there and how much should we really fear? I know the situation is not good, but the truth lies somewhere in the middle between Green Peace and Foxnews. IMO
See the Battle for Chernobyl. It was recommended by commentators here. It answers all of your questions.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5384001427276447319#If you check out the documentary and the comments from the Russians in charge at the teim a significant portion of the world almost got a gigantic kick in the nuts from Chernobyl.
It didn't eventuate, they averted the worst, so now to the world it was mostly a nothing burger, a local affair.

URGENT: Radiation 1,600 times normal level 20 km from Fukushima plant: IAEAVIENNA, March 22, Kyodo
Radiation 1,600 times higher than normal levels has been detected in an area about 20 kilometers from the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, International Atomic Energy Agency officials said Monday.
Data collected by an IAEA team show that radiation levels of 161 microsievert per hour have been detected in the town of Namie, Fukushima Prefecture, the officials said.
The government has set an exclusion zone covering areas within a 20-km radius of the plant and has urged people within 20 to 30 km to stay indoors.
==Kyodo
Rubbish! There isnt enough critical/sub critical nuclear run-away reactions to cause pollution that will harm anyone very far from the reactors...even full meltdown will be minimal. As for the Seawater that is Radiated...again, its still in miniscule amounts.
Fearmongering. Until I see a Chernobyl-Like actual Nuclear FIRE I wont get worried at all from this...and even Cher wasnt the end of the world.
No but a similar scale of contamination would be a much worse problem for Japan than it was for Eastern Europe, which no one ever said had a shortage of arable land....Fukushima Prefecture is an imporant ag/fishery area and borders the critical Kanto Plain, Japan's largest arable/buildable plain.
I've been saying consistently a black smoky 'grease fire' is the thing to watch out for. Not that a loss of containment at a reactor is pretty, mind you; we've actually never seen that scenario in practice yet (fortunately) and don't have much idea of the consequences.
So far we have neither. Of course you'll find here at ZH that the more people actually know about the topic, the more nervous they actually are--not about the health impacts of the releases to date but about the actual condition of the plant and the possibility of major disaster still to come.
All of the events thus far are more like a gentle, friendly love tap of a reminder that nuclear accidents CAN lead to long term irreversible environmental damage.
A gentle love tap with fatal consequences for first responders and plant workers.
Your ordinary....rubbish....?
tyler, i just can't for the life of me have to ask, what is the point? what kind of human being wants to destroy it's self and it's surroundings? all things that complete the circle. how have these dangerous people infiltrated the populous with this false premise of what a man is suppose to do to live his life. this is so utterly dangerous to life, we all have to cry.

You're right; To think it all started with a few tinkerers futzing around with magnets, electric currents and some wire ... "History of Magnetism and Electricity" http://www.rare-earth-magnets.com/t-history-of-magnets.aspx
1780 - Electric Current
Because of an accident the 18th-century Italian scientist Luigi Galvani started a chain of events that culminated in the development of the concept of voltage and the invention of the battery.
1820 - Electromagnetism, Current
In 1820, a physicist Hans Christian Oersted, learned that a current flowing through a wire would move a compass needle placed beside it. This showed that an electric current produced a magnetic field.
1855 - Electromagnetic Induction
Michael Faraday (1791-1867) an Englishman, made one of the most significant discoveries in the history of electricity: Electromagnetic induction. His pioneering work dealt with how electric currents work.

helicopters, too
I also read about the nuclear war between the ancient peoples of India and some other peoples. It took us thousands of years to recover.
Rare gasses not much of an issue. Watched a report this morning saying level of ceasium (24 times 'normal') and iodine (126 times 'normal') in sea water 100m south of the reactor site, and these are still "relatively safe", and "about what you would expect in this situation".
I don't know what is more disturbing, the report's info, or that there's a 'normal' background level of these very harmful isotopes near Japan's reactors that are so close to large populations.
They followed this up 2 hours later with, on second thoughts; people near to the reactors; "DO NOT DRINK TAP WATER"
One presumes this applies to those 'safe' people, beyond the 20km mandatory evac zone, because everyone else is out of there ... right?
So there you have it, don't drink any water, and don't breathe or eat, and wlecome to the new normal.
1) Winds moving SSW = bad
2) Rain drops particles in catchments
3) on crops and soil
4) national food and water independence undermined
5) local seafood definitely off the menu
6) Fishing fleet, ports, chandlers, cranes and slipways wrecked also, so big portion of fishing fleet knocked-out

Blatant Govt lies and downplaying = temporary market stabilization by plunge-protection team
Maybe we can be merciful and finish them off with a squadron of C-17s dropping Big-Macs and koolaide, before TPTB finish them off with their BS advice and regulatory oversight?
Edit: Sorry, I looked down the blog posts and of course found those very topics being discussed.
Actually, this whole current problem in Japan pales when compared to their earthquake in 1923....of course back then, they did not produce nuclear fallout to share with the rest of the world, so no one cared....things do change, don't they?
"How a Tokyo Earthquake Could Devastate Wall Street and the World Economy", by Michael Lewis....1989...Mike was a bit ahead of his time, but a good read, nonetheless.
Thanks for the honesty Japan!!!
I wish TD/Daniel/whoever would stop with this scare-mongering bullshit and go back to what he's good at -> giving shit to the SEC (amongst other things).
The level of fear associated with Fukushima is just ridiculous. Yeah, it's bad for Japanese living near the site, got it, now how many people has it/will it kill?
The tsunamis killed more people than Fukushima ever will so where are the scare-mongering posts about tsunamis? Hell, what about car-wrecks or junk food? They're real global killers! WHERE IS THE FEAR?? </sarc>
Yes, bad shit happens in the world. Some if it threatens to kill you. Fukushima isn't one of them unless you're working on stabilizing the facility. Statistically, it makes far more sense to be concerned about being t-boned by an SUV while driving to work.
Let it go already. Chernobyl happened. It was worse than Fukushima. The world didn't end. Enough of this Chicken Little shit.
Couldn't agree more.
In fact, ZH has been so single-mindedly obsessed with the Japan thing they've failed to comment on the USD plunging thru the critical 75.50 support level, and only grungingly acknowlege the escalating ME situation.
Two days a go I would have agreed with you. Now I don't.
But you're right, this is basically a health emergency.
1) Short term (1 to 2 months) = panic and psychological effect, nutrition falls, and almost nothing else happens
2) Medium term = endless food and water issues and slowly building health EFFECTS (disease)
3) Long term = Lots of people get sick prematurely and suffer and die.
4) the oldies kark and solve the demographic imbalances
5) the costs of clean food, water mediical and power choaks the economy.
6) Global ecionomic and financial outcomes = crappy
A week ago I was very much in favor of nuclear power, now I'm not. This will have a big impact, it's not just fear-mongering unfortunately.
So in your esteemed opinion the 40 + trillion injected by the BOJ to negate the impact of this catastrophe is irrelevant, the $100+ billion in funding capital needed is but a scratch, and the collapsing supply lines that will destroy profit margins for US tech companies are irrelevant, and instead Zero Hedge should point out abnormal put buying to an agency full of porn addicts? Luckily we don't all agree on what's important (and if we did, every site in the world would be www.cnbc.com).
Element is only 28 weeks into boot camp. Denial is hard to shake off.
Keep up the good work Tyler.
Been reading this site a lot longer than 28 weeks, and have not denied anything, Tyler was replying to the post above mine.
"the collapsing supply lines that will destroy profit margins for US tech companies"
Gasp! You mean my beloved Apple stocks may be effected? OK, time for full panic mode here!
Tyler, to put this in perspective for that poster, try this:
Apple's Launch of iPad2 may be delayed! Scarcity of parts slows production.
You're doing a good job. Should you ever be convicted of anything, point to this site as years of public service already performed.
@Daniel/Tyler,
I'm asking you to FOCUS ON THE THINGS YOU LISTED and to stop obsessing with Fukushima. You are *deliberately* spreading fear far beyond the level that is actually warranted regarding Fukushima, thus actively increasing the amplitude of market participants' responses to the overall crisis and increasing the already high probability of a major economic problem.
I've only taken intermediate units in biochemistry, physics and molecular biology but that's more than enough to know that Xenon is a fucking NOBLE GAS. It doesn't readily form compounds because its electron configuration is complete, exceptions occasionally rising with highly electronegative elements such as fluorine, oxygen, chlorine and bromine, in that order. So, like the other noble gases, on the tiny chance that some of it from Fukushima gets into your body before it decays, it won't stay there because it's not particularly reactive. You'll likely breath it in and straight back out again. Whatever DNA damage it *might* cause while it transits your system is more than capable of being taken care of by DNA repair enzymes which are busy every hour of every day repairing damage from the radionuclides, mutagens, carginogens and epigenomically active hormones that you internalize every day through your skin, lungs and intestines from the food you eat and the thousands of industrial chemicals you expose yourself to, most of which have never been tested for long-term human health effects. But hey, don't worry about that shit, keep spamming us with nuclear fear.
The earthquake put the Yen carry-trade at risk by directly hammering GDP. Bad. And now scare-mongering doomoids like you are actively making it worse. Rather than being part of the solution, you, GW and others with your overblown doom-obsession are being part of the problem. Hell, I get the feeling that you, and so many ZH participants actually WANT a global economic calamity just so you can say "SEE??? I WAS RIGHT!". Great. That's like telling us all you have herpes, then doing the I-told-you-so dance when a test comes back positive. It's just fucked up.
PS: way to go creating a straw man. What part of "amongst other things" didn't you understand?
You need to relax. No man is an island and you give this website far too much power in anenvironment where power is a facade allowed you. Give the oligarchy a bit more credit than that.
Seems to be a MarketWatch sock puppet on patrol.
You need to relax, eh! You're doing more damage to yourself with your apoplectic outburst than even Fukushima will.
Let me just point out that one can avoid tsunamis, car wrecks and junk food by making conscious individual choices. Not so with radiation and radioactive particles caused by government and/or industry incompetence. It is right to be concerned and it is right for ZH to report on what is known until the danger has passed. The still-possible, though highly improbable, outcome from Fukushima could yet be an "On The Beach"!
I'm impressed with your prescience! Chernobyl happended 25 years ago ... so we've had time to observe the effects from day 1 to day (25 x 365). Fukushima is an ongoing incident that could be brought back under control tomorrow, or go *KA-BOOM* next week. While your credentials to predict - from your basement 10,000 miles away - which of these outcomes will come to pass are no doubt impressive, I'm not yet definitively convinced that "Chernobyl was worse than Fukushima", if you don't mind.
Deadly radioactive material leaking into Sea. All countries at risk.
http://dawnwires.com/politics/deadly-radioactive-material-leaking-into-sea-could-reach-any-country-from-sea/
Sheesh....I may take back all those nice things I said above about 'possible slight seafood contamination'.
OK for me. I don't eat seafood or vegetables or salad. I only drink beer.
Forget Xenon. This thread is spewing some potent Laughing Gas!
been pretty wild, hasn't it? a wee of the old "whistling past the graveyard" no doubt, but WTF.....
Too late now. You'd best not mention it to any of your family or friends, they'll just shoot the messenger.
He should tee it up in Tokyo.
What no balls?
I used to think Chimps were OK but then I found out if you get them mad they poke your eyes out and then they twist off your feet, hands, nose, lips, ears, testicles and Mr. Winkie. I don't like Chimps.
Very low levels (so far) of Fukushima Special OK Radiation in the US means you should eat a balanced diet and get more exercise, while maintaining a healthy sense of skepticism.
There, everyone feel better now?
Tyler, I love your blog. But you should understand...most Americans have little knowledge of radionuclides. And from this flows the fear based in that ignorance.I object to TPTB limiting information. But upon serious reflection I realise some people would panic, and adversely affect their futures based on such info. Some might even harm themselves in the near term.It does not mean the info should not be presented in my opinion...it should be couched in terms most understand...whatever that might be.
For what it is worth my friend.
.
Way to go (again) ZH! Now - if Xe non-133 is everywhere - what else? The answer is blowing in the wind.
.
Here's what I learned from the comments on ZH. There is nothing new under the sun. Also my keyboard is a piece of junk.
So what does this mean exactly? I live in New England. If I were to rest radiation levels here, they would be higher than normal? And if so, what does this mean health-wise?
It is debatable. Some claim the risk is measurable, others say below a certain level it does not matter.I am of the opinion that it is always bad to inhale new radioactive materials...call me paranoid.
double post.Guru mediation..varnish
Fuck, can anyone pass some pozac? Is there any good shit coming?
heres a pretty good tv doco about the fuckushima meltdown
http://www.abc.net.au/iview/#/view/737701
abc tv auatralia, dunno if it will show overseas
Didn't you hear? Anne "adams apple" Coulter says radiation is good for you.
She is a psychopath....what do you expect?
Yes, yes, yes...but what about the NFL lockout?
Nuke them...duh.
Does this mean it won't hurt to take up smoking Marlboro Reds?
Test Post
Does this mean it won't hurt to take up smoking Marlboro Reds?
Oh man, a good buzz and a pack of Reds...or a hot cup of joe in the morning.
Unfiltered Camels and Pall Mall's were awfully good back in the day too...
Great.
Now I can look forward to bigger tomatoes and a free brain and pulmonary scan.
Wait, they'll proably charge me a county disposal fee for when I kick the bucket; blame me for breathing it.
I'd feel better if Bernanke told us it was "contained"...........
Noone can say it better than that! If Bernanke tells you something, surely you can believe it! QE-3 here we come. YAAAAAAAY WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Our economy has become like a ride at Disney World; you never know how long you'll stand in line waiting for your turn and you can only guess how the ride will end.
LOL!!!! I needed a laugh today!

"Pretty sure I have this right:"
I'm afraid you have been mixing up things (deliberately?)
1x10-4 microcuries per ml
= 0.0001 microcuries/ml
= 100 picocuries/ml (and not 100000 picocuries/ml, but this step is not necessary if you used the convertor you provided, unless to create confusion)
= 3700 millibecquerel/ml
= 3700 mBq/ml,
so you're off by a factor 1000 here (why?)
There are not hundred but thousand cubic millimeters in a cubic centimeter, but this conversion is not relevant here (but another 10 times off, why?)
Further, "within the range of mBq per cubic meter" clearly refers to the concentrations predicted for Iodine 131, while the occupational concentration limit you wrongly calculated is valid only for Xenon-133 (why?).
So what is the current concentration of Xe 133 in the atmosphere?
Difficult to tell from the videomaps what are the units used for the Xenon-133 dispersal modelling, but you concluded they were in the range of millibecquerel per cubic meter, which is not necessarily true.
Why all these "errors"?
What a load of sophistic crap. If you honestly expect me to believe that you're "amazed" at the "fear-driven responses" produced when a post entitled: "Radionuclide Has Blanketed Entire United States" then you're either an idiot or a liar. It's obviously the latter.
The "N" word (nuclear) is forbidden. It's taboo because normal people shit themselves when they hear it. That's why when the doc sends you for an MRI, it's called an "MRI" and not an "NMRI" as it should be. You know damn well that people get scared by anything that suggests radioactivity even when it's absolutely no threat to their well-being. You couldn't possibly NOT know that given the thousands of fear-laden responses to Fukushima posts here over the course of events.
And yet, fully aware of this, you deliberately provide a post like this without any attempt to address the irrational fears in your readership that will undoubtedly be produced. This is both unprofessional and irresponsible, the kind of subtle sensationalism that you hypocritically accuse the MSM of participating in. Being fully aware of what will follow your "no comment" post makes you guilty of misinformation by omission.
It's like walking into a kindergarden with a loaded gun, flicking off the safety, putting it on the ground and walking away. Then when the cops come for you, you proclaim innocence because, hey, you didn't make that kid shoot his friend! Bullshit. You knew what would happen.
"The "N" word (nuclear) is forbidden. It's taboo because normal people shit themselves when they hear it."
Operant conditioning; the news media and anti-nuclear forces scored big here QED ...
"... you deliberately provide a post like this without any attempt to address the irrational fears in your readership ..."
Oprah, you're looking for a segment on Oprah that addresses this, but, looking at the schedule, it won't be this week: http://www.oprah.com/index.html
"It's like walking into a kindergarden with a loaded gun, flicking off the ..."
Where have I heard this before ... "You can't handle the truth!" Oh yeah, when Colonel Nathan R. Jessep addresses the court in the movie "Code Red":

Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.
This event will shape the energy and economic future of the world.
There is no real benefit in trying to play down fears about contamination.
The risks need to be faced head on.
Fukashima is to nuclear power what the Hindenburg was to airship travel.
Unless we can locate future nuclear plants on the moon, I doubt very much if any new ones will be built.
Time will tell...
