The Year In Photos

Tyler Durden's picture

Suffering from nostalgia and have 5 minutes to kill? Here is one of the better compilations of the year that is about to pass, in photos, courtesy of the WSJ. Relive memories, caught in glorious ISO 800, differentiated by category, region, and date.

THAT is clearly a dangerous Muslim terrorist WHO DID NOT PAY FOR THAT BOTTLE OF WATER NEXT TO HIM!!

I hope that after they water boarded and after his electroshock therapy they shot him so we could all feel safe again!!

Maybe the military personnel were actually pointing their weapons at the bottle of water. Think Steve Martin in "The Jerk." "Stay away from those bottles those guys really hate those bottles."

Fantastic shots. NY is well-represented in the "oddshots" with a door-orgy; a sadistic panda; and a dude who popped a camera in his head.

Thanks for the heads-up on this collection!

Does anyone see the USA as a hedonistic, lazy, privileged elite by comparison to the rest of the world falling into disaster?  I mean, Black Friday carts with pre-loaded flatscreens?  Alcoholic beachgoers drinking in boats on the beach to take advantage of a loophole that prohibited their partying for one day in the week?  Not many images of catastrophe from the USA in 2010--unless you count losing a basketball game as a disaster equivalent to an earthquake.

Yeah, then compare the little kids in Uganda or some of the images from India etc...and you just think to yourself, Americans are whingeing bastards.

I still can't believe they shot that kid in Philly with a taser. I realize he shouldn't have been running on the field....but isn't that excessive? I remember a guy using a parachute in the 80's (correct me if I'm off by a decade) to get into either the world series or the super bowl. I don't remember them shooting him with anything.

Then I remind myself....its philly. :P

I remember that too, that kid was too fast for the fat fuck so he electrocuted him! Ha! If he had of done that to my kid i would have choked him, park official or not.

I'm surprised the Katyn Airplane crash that took the lives of so many Polish leaders in Russia did not make it..

Agreed.  Wouldn't what the Russians did spark a war in just about any other country.  How the hell did the Poles let them get away with what was clearly an act of blatant terrorism.  It is not as if the Russians even tried to hide their involvement.  Oh wait I forgot Al Queda was to blame, right?  Right?

The introduction of al Qaeda into the issue is as much a product of your personal conditioning as the lack of public outcry from the Polish people is of theirs. And it wasn't terrorism which was carried out by the Russian security forces but assassination.

Here is footage of survivors of the crash being liquidated on the ground:

The man who shot this footage was dead within one week of its appearance on Youtube.

Superimpose that thought with the very first image with which you are greeted when clicking the link, the picture of KGB/GRU officer Vladmir Putin sanguinely sipping tea with understudy Medvedev at a Sochi ski resort. There are two men who know the world is theirs for the taking and take it they will.

Never has there been a better title for a book than New Lies for Old. It's a terrible shame that Golitsyn's efforts to warn us have fallen on so many deaf ears.

"They [the Soviets] intend...to induce the Americans to adopt their own 'restructuring' and convergence of the Soviet and American systems .... Convergence will be accompanied by blood baths and political re-education camps in Western Europe and the United States. The Soviet strategists are counting on an economic depression in the United States and intend to introduce their reformed model of socialism with a human face as an alternative to the American system during the depression."--Anatoliy Golitsyn The Perestroika Deception 1990

“Soviet ambitions towards the United States were aimed at the extinction of Capitalism and the ‘socialization’ of America…. The main strategic goals on the road to their fulfillment were: the withdrawal of the U.S.A. from Europe and Asia; the removal of Latin America from the United States’ sphere of influence and its incorporation into the Socialist bloc; the destruction of the United States influence in the developing world; the reduction of American military power to a state of strategic inferiority; the advent to power in Washington of a transitional and progressive government; and the collapse of the American economy.” --Jan Sejna, 1969.

What is the Final Phase?
