The American Education System Exposed As Worker Drone Factory For The Socio-Economic Elite & It's Not Even Doing That Well!
This is the 3rd installment of my controversial rant against the American education system - this time in video. If you haven't been following me, it is recommended that you read through the first two (admittedly lengthy, yet well worth the time) posts:
- How Inferior American Education Caused The Credit/Real Estate/Sovereign Debt Bubbles and Why It's Preventing True Recovery
- The Biggest Threat To The 2012 Economy Is??? Not What Wall Street Is Telling You...
I fully expect plenty of comments on this one! I come in at 3:40 in the video, but the first three and a half minutes may be worth viewing as well for those in the education industry.

the american ed system is like an extended version of the television game show jeopardy, where speed trumps depth and understanding. you can't truly understand something if you don't question the basis of that thing. education continues to fragment, you can get an idea of this by going to wikipedia and looking up some mathematical concept and then following all the referent links. no one understands all of it, everyone has their own piece of the puzzle, which is just more specialized and less integral than true comprehension should really be
Hi Reggie,
The US public education system besides being full of no show political patronage jobs has watered down the standards to virtual nothingness.
Thanks to the upside down focus on the laggards while the achievers wither or the "left wing" lowest common denominator approach the system is pathetic beyond belief. Someone should do a documentary tracking three generations of a family who all went to the same public schools.
As someone else has pointed out, they used to graduate achievers with low self esteem,
now it is the diametric opposite.
The problems are directly correlated to the unionization of the teachers, the epidemic of single parent households and the most underrated cause-the incredibly ignorant group thought that has been brainwashed into the administrators by the academic elite.
But part of the grand delusion here comes from the orchestrated financial system,
Americans who did not live through Carter have bsically lived in largely nothing but economic boom times where a crappy education was more easily overcome in the workplace. Now that unique or valuable skills are actually necessary to get ahead it has become overty obvious the US education system graduate largely has none.
I really like his idea of money being a proxy for labor. It's true that living expenses cost a certain amount of money each month. You either have to earn that money by working, or you spend the money that you have previously saved up.
Actually I think it was Karl Marx's idea. Reggie just put it into easy to understand terms, plus it is easier to understand Reggie as he doesn't have a thick bushy beard with yesterday crumbs still hanging about distracting the eye when he speaks, and he lacks a thick german accent as well.
money is just claim on society.
It is how government allocates resources. There are 100 restaurants, and in order to see which restaurant is good, government give a dollar to each consumer to pick one which ends up rewarding the good restaurants where the score is dollars.
One thing folks like Romney leaves out is that not all kids start with dollar in hand. The sons of restaurant owners start with more dollars than other kids so they can practice nepotism and elitism amongst the owners families and kill off new restaurants even though quality and service is better. Public education is supposed to level the playing field, but education has become worthless because good education costs so much.
It is like in baseball, without draft rules to give last year's losers best position in draft,
Yankees would win games by paying for best new talent. Then with the winnings, they will get even more talent next draft.
Keep it for few seasons and it will not be because Yankees good team management but because they hoard all the good players and nobody will go see the games anymore because competition is so lopsided. Even Yankess would lose revenue.
But Reggie, the Prussian Education Model sorts out the livestock, so well. It even identifies which ones to slip through the cracks. Some of us are fortunate to escape the plantation with 40 years left, to heal the damage. The "American" education system is doing exactly what it was intended for. Today, it turns out grunts for the current War On Whatever. People are still in line to bring their boy (or girl) home in a box. The education system has functioned flawlessly.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The rise of the influence of the social sciences on education system has, and continues to, destroy the concept of what education actually is.
It's not about self-esteem, it's about learning the basic concepts needed to provide critical thinking.
And yes, failure is a lesson worth learning. Overcoming failure is the most important lesson that can't be taught if you are not allowed to fail.
Social Science is an oxymoron. Calling them Social Subject(ive)s would be more accurate.
You want success? Then double your failure rate.
you can learn from failures but that does not ensure success later.
that's like saying to a new Doctor, "if you want to save more lives, then double the rate of killing patients"
or to the groom, "if you want a successful marriage, double your number of divorces"
many things in life are irreversible. If you are born poor, you better be perfect AND lucky to even make it to middle class.
Public education was invented by the British in the Industrial boom because the peasant class was too stupid to employee in marginally more technical jobs. That's the mandate- not excellence but sufficient employablity. Of course now it has created sufficiency but not competitiveness. Remember, and overly educated working class knows it being abused.
Higher education is nothing more than a credit creation device- non- recourse slave class who must work no matter what. Hence why colleges are faring well in this economy.
It's about making interest money.
+infinity on this.
In a sense, college itself is becoming like its profit driven athletics programs. A good 20% of poor kids who are naturally gifted get a free ride, while the rest have to fight for scraps as a walkons. Now you can include middle class kids in this as college costs have skyrocketed 300% since 2002.
Basically, now the only kids who have mommy and daddy that can afford the good colleges that keep the eye of employers are the ones let into college. Its structural classism. If you are not good enough to get in college, be a soldier. Or deal drugs/play poker (which is what I did when I had no job).
Higher education is just another hoop to jump through to gain credibility. The more stupid the populace, the more of a mindless hoop higher education becomes and less educational because those without higher education would not question the credentials.
Rich do not want a poor but smart and motivated kid to go to college and compete against their own stupid kids, so they promote parent's wealth as a factor in merit credentialing institutions
Good public education means that George W. Bush will not get into Yale and Harvard business school...the credentials necessary to take office in the white house. Rich elites do not want a better society or change anything since they are already at the top thus they are conservatives desparately trying to conserve the elite status they were born into.
Made me laugh. Quite some laughters so...
Hey, the world is not limited to US of A.
There are private, public education systems elsewhere.
Which makes it not an issue of private orpublic education but simply a problem of education.
Once again, Reggie, I have to give you kudos for your efforts to identify the deficiencies in the education system. What can be perceived as very simple concepts are labeled "conspiratorial" so easily. All you are presenting is an understanding that it takes a lot more effort to be truly exceptional, how diversity in a culture/society is best for all, and that "dumbing down" for the sake of maintaining a societal order is to the detriment of any society.
I appreciate your not so "common" sense approach and again laud your efforts to uncover the inherent limitations to our education system. Keep up the great work!
The American Education System Exposed As Worker Drone Factory For The Socio-Economic Elite
And this is a surprise how?
Formal education has it place, for engineering, science, medical and math skills. EVERYTHING ELSE can be learned in other educational forums / self-studies.
It's not universal but I have noticed a very disturbing percentage of college graduates are unable to think critically, strike me as thought programmed and/or provide significant amounts of originality.
education is mostly self-studies. education system just tests your knowledge which any computer can do nowadays.
higher research institution is just R&D outsourcing.
Again it is always the same story.
US citizens sheer refusal to self indict.
So they grab at anything possible.
Let give them a favour: lets take they are right: education is poor. It is taken as a postulate. Not to be discussed.
Lets give them another favour: good education is established.
So the next step is:
What are the expectations given by the prospect of a good education?
What miracle is good education supposed to provide?
How is good education going to change the current situation?
What kind of solutions good education is expected to bring?
Wont get many answers because US citizens love their propaganda and they reject any sign that would force a return to reality.
It is funny how with US citizens, it boils down always to the same, to solve the ailments of US citizenism, it is always more US citizenism.
This is a bit topic, but that host has a nice rack.....
Agreed. News organizations need to find the 'Golden Medium' somewhere between the extremes of Melissa Theuriau (you don't hear anything she's saying, because you're thinking about something else entirely), and Candy Crowley (you don't hear anything she's saying, because your eyes are burning).
Same thing is true in the music industry. Janis Joplin wouldn't be a star nowadays, because she wasn't attractive.
The Political Economy Research Institute and UMass, Amherst studied spending on the military versus spending on education and found that every $1 billion spent on the military produces approximately 11,000 jobs, while every $1 billion spent on education produces 27,000 jobs. Education in this country stinks because of neglect and STILL it's almost 3 times better for the economy than the military. In other words, imagine how much better and productive this country could get if we re-organized our priorities.
Clowngress also spent over $500K on a study to find out WHY Chimps fling poo. Somewhere, some PhD(s) are gaming the system and making a good living doing it.
Please don't cloud the debate with anything but an ideological belief of what should be. It confuses and infuriates the inmates here....
Whoa - flak's on a rampage, cutting through all that ideological clutter with his razor sharp sword of BS slicing discrimination!
Stand back everyone - the master is AT IT!
The education of children is only a reflection of the value that the parents place on a good education... If the parents don't get it, how will the kids ever?
I would modify your comment a bit. It's not that parents aren't interested in the education of their kids. The parents in my social circle are fairly obsessed with it. The problem is that parents focus on the wrong things. There is a movement in my school district to do away with P.E., because a number of parents fear that their smart-but-unathletic kids might get a B in P.E., which would mess up the GPA preventing them from getting into "the right college". Similarly, I know parents who spend hundreds of dollars on ACT- and SAT-prep courses for the same reasons. Instead of worrying about "can my child think on his own, manage his time, and know how to learn" they are concerned about getting that certain grade or score that will get them into "the right college".
Schools have been favoring a move away from PE because of insurance liablilites....
Sorry I do not buy your PE and GPA argument... I call BS
How can most parents evaluate the math and science, when they have only the basic rudiments themselves.
Are most parents really interested in the nuts and bolts of science and math education? My own experience with two children is that is not the case based on many discussions with other parents. The only parents I have met that are truly concerned are those that have post-graduate education and tend to have political beliefs leaning to the left.
In case you have not noticed, there is an increasing anti-intellectual bias in this country and the roots of it are on the right side of the political spectrum.... The disrespect and contempt for science is no more apparent than in the GW debate and the ongoing Creationism/Intelligent Design "debate"....Look at the stance of the Evangelicals on any science matter? Ask what fraction of Americans believe the rapture will occur within their lifetime??
So I would argue that the dumbing down of America is a goal of the neo-cons social engineering agenda. After all the neo-cons are activist "conservatives".....
Edit: One telling fact is that in the 1950's scientists were roughly divided Democrat Republican, whereas now only 5-10% of scientists are Republicans...
You craft a very clever yet dogmatic straw man.
It's funny.
Did you know: Stratospheric water vapor reflects exponentially more infared radiation than does carbon dioxide? This was proven as far back as the 1930s.
Yet we have all of these extremely smart Democrat "Scientists" fudging numbers and pushing agenda, while refuting the facts infront of them.
Or perhaps they weren't facts, or the facts infront of them are never presented. Perhaps the premise is wrong.
For knowing tensor calculus, you juxtapose that with subtle bigotry and lack of common sense quite nicely. Satire, right?
Would you like to play?
Let's debate the FR 2011 result, ok?
Global temperature evolution 1979–2010
PS you may want to consider the use of "reflect", I think you mean absorb and re-emit... and what may I ask is the source of stratospheric H20?
Let's tango.
Seeing as how 99.999% of water vapor in the stratosphere has existed before man, .001%? Do I get a cookie?
The premise of the AGW argument relies upon a monochromatic wavelength interacting with a monochromatic medium. So your use of "re-emit" is based upon the premise of quick timescale (flourescence), as are most mainstream (you know, studies that were able to get funding from a government with vested interest) studies which abjectly ignore phosphorescent properties or quantum mechanics, especially phonons and their variable arrangement regarding heat transfer.
Regarding common sense - the CRU "Fun with numbers" incident; in which the "scientists" were IoP members, your link bomb means nothing. I can regurgitate the same layman GWP calculations, add it to IoP and receive pats on my faux intillectual back all the way to my ego-bank. I'd still be wrong.
Either way, it's stupid and egotistical to create a detrimental penalty system for something that is still completely unfounded.
Monochromatic eh? That is just simply wrong...
Reflect, eh? Molecules don't "reflect", they scatter EM radiation....
This one is the best though:
WTF? Now that is a good one, sounds vaguely technical but it is basically verbal diarrehea....just how do you arrange phonons?
And what's with the final little strawman? I would say that it is more than a tad gratuitous....
And the fact that you have been a member for all of 5 days... sure smells funny to me...
----
I also notice that you have nothing to comment on about FR2011... I might have expected so....
My such big words...
You talk like a lawyer, more likely a paid hack....
So shall we debate the science and results of FR2011?
That was my proposition. Take it or leave it.
I will check back tomorrow.
Sorry I do not buy your PE and GPA argument... I call BS
Do you have school-age kids, Flakmeister? Because I do, and the things I wrote I have witnessed first-hand. So eye witness accounts = no BS. Nice try.
I have a son in Grade 9 and a daughter in grade 2....fortunately, the elementary school they attend(ed) still has outdoor recess.
And while I bemoan the passing of PE, it is not because of GPA padding. In many cases (not all) it is due to civil liabilities.. Do you know how many parents drive their kids to school and do not provide adequate outdoor clothing? It may not matter in further South but there are a lot of places were running shoes and a hoodie aint gonna cut it...
Sorry, but I can't take anyone seriously who believes in the left-right paradigm. To group politics in a linear fashion proves you're a fucking idiot.
Can you differentiate between a right wing and left wing social engineering? If there was no difference, why are there ideologues on two different sides....
Whether you like it or not, there are 2 parties in this country. The fact that they are both hijacked by Corporate concerns does not change the fact. There underlying messages and arguments are very different....
Where does minarchism stand on linear political spectrum defined by communism on one side and fascism on the other? Do you even understand the question?
You are a simplistic moron.... and while we are at it, go fuck yourself...
There's only one thing that matters dumb-ass. Who controls the money? Remember that the next time you apply for a grant.
As to who controls the money.... do I have to tell you, "Corporate Interests", I thought you already knew that....
I think I got it, you are against all forms of statism.... in other words, you are one of *those* guys...
An intellectually stunted narcissist in all liklihood.... I should have figured it out, all the signs were there...
I really do hope Ron Paul wins so all you naive Liberatarians can have your very let down when you realize that it don't make a fucking difference what kind of political philosphy you have if you let the socio-paths take over...
BTW, why would I apply for a grant??
Where the fuck did the above non sequitur come from???
Reggie, the point of the edumacation system Inc. is to create fucking idiots, or less. The point is to create desert fodder getting shot up for US imperial wars Inc.
Looking at grandchildren that span merely 6 years there has been a dramatic reduction this decade in intelligence, self-sufficiency and critical thinking skills across them.
One thing for certain is that they are being indoctrinated at home to turn fags of fraud (your entire profession) to hamburger without remorse -- i hope they destroy you fraud fucks just like Fraud Street fucked every child in the last 10 years, denied them of purpose and stuck taxpayers with the bill for vapor and socialized crime.
Education for profit has gutted education -- MISSION ACCOMPLISHED YOU FUCKERS!
Rot in hell you masters of fucking loss, you deserve every bad thing that happens to you and your families by those you have created/cheated for dirty money.
Super sharp point.
At any given time the US military has 1million members.
While there are 75million people under the age of 18 in the country.
Genius material.
Even more genius considering those dictating the education mantras are the elite academic left or the pacfists of the world.
Super genius stuff.
"That's a little conspiratorial isn't it Reggie?"
"I don't see it as a conspiracy, I see it as plain vanilla."
Right on, Reggie is the fucking man! I still have family/friends that roll their eyes when I try to tell them the truth about US education, sad really.
Some small cracks in the efforts of the gatekeepers appear from time to time, such as

A worthwhile diatribe that questions most popular beliefs and ends with a succint question. It sort of captures the purpose of our mal-education, to cherish and die for the things that our rulers need.
Rules are for the Guidance of wise men and the obedience of fools....
Best antidote to poor education is having kids compete in the NFL, the National Forensic league, debate competition. You learn to crate the most compelling arguments on both sides of an issue and present them well. This is the skill that makes for incisive thought. Also, courses in philosophy and political philosophy.
Best antidote to a poor education, is curiousity. If it leads you to understanding critical thinking and the difference between knowledge and facts, the path is open.
Questioning authority and the consensus never hurts. Discovering that life is about more than reproduction and acquisition of the largest possible pool of money is its own reward.
Education is like health, we create our own. Just as a doctor cannot heal you, only you can heal you, a teacher cannot teach you, only you can teach you. They can propose a path, they can point out things they feel are important, they can offer advice, but the actualization all occurs between your ears.
Be a sponge that is discrete about what it absorbs.
I debated for 4 years in high school, biggest waste of time and worst decision of my life.
The National Forensic League is the same as the MSM: arguing two "sides" of the same corporate, neocon, fiat dollar, American Empire Zionist agenda.
Not to mention it's a breeding ground for the mandarins that fuck things up on Wall Street and in D.C.
The only thing kids need is to show them how to use the library and internet to find information. Then they can figure things out for themselves.
Dolph,
Sad to say, but this I agree with. One of the worst aspects of debate (spent a year doing it in high school then decided there was better uses of my time) was that there was no real way that you could argue that neither of the two positions so staked out were in fact valid, and that the fundamental assumptions that both used were ultimately flawed in the same way. Not something my debate coach wanted to hear.
Makes me laugh.
Debates no longer exist. Killed by US citizenism.
Debates have one requirement: admission of facts.
Debate is weak.
In US citizenism, it is always about weighing profits gained by denial of facts against profits gained by admission of facts.
All these 'debate' structures are training grounds to learn to spin facts in order to make it possible to secure the best option possible.
Peak oil:
When oil extraction started, US citizens were not urged to deny that oil extraction would peak one day or another, they had another escape pipe: mankind's ingenuosity.
They would overcome the limitations of oil.
One hundred years later, as the solutions to overcome limitations of oil are not found, they now deny oil extraction might peak.
Denial of facts. No debate.
