Man, how long have the North Korean people been suffering, cold, emaciated, malnourished, enslaved people, living under the kind of totalitarian, morally corrupt and I'd argue genuinely evil leaders?
I genuinely feel for the people of North Korea.
One of my wishes in the Chinese New Year is that North Korea's leadership collapses, and that this allows reunification with South Korea, as happened with the end of East Germany's regime.
Because I essentially endorse Ron Paul's foreign policy of non-interventionism in any sovereign matter that doesn't represent a clear and imminent threat to the safety and security of the United States, I've never advocated the use of direct military force by the U.S. to try and topple North Korea's brutal leadership. Doing so in one case creates the slippery slope of morally obligating ourselves to do so in more - or all - cases, around the globe, and neither we nor any other nation has the ability to do so and meet the needs of their own citizens.
But that doesn't mean there aren't some low cost, effective, non-provocative measures we can't engineer and employ to accelerate the process, along the lines of chess diplomacy, especially vis-a-vis China, North Korea's provider of essential food and oil.
maybe. i would argue it's a deep water port that the entirety of the Western World...with Japan and all of East Asia as a greater possibility. The "gateway to the Central Asian interior" runs through North Korea. Should those coal deposits in Mongolia start spilling out to the world you would see a dramatic decline in commodity prices for the entire world. of course this is a dollar based world so the Russians and Chinese would apparently rather see a "more normal commodity collapse" i guess. Anywho "it's the only great power status thing" with China--my bet would be "that's the only reason they continue with North Korea at all." China has a massive food inflation. It would end immediately if they overthrew Kim and pushed for reunification thus allowing for..."interior development." We shall see...
I watch quite a bit of Asian film. I assume there are kernels of truth in any form of media.
Watch Yellow River.
It suggests that North Korea is merely poor and not horrifically poor as say parts of Africa. It also makes the point that people do travel back and forth. Yes for illegal activities, but still money does cross borders to family members.
There are a handful of other Korean films that touch on North Korea and none of them are quite so demonizing as western images.
I'm going to assume that western media increases the bad press and those closer to the area are more realistic. For quite a while damn near every Korean movie was pro-reunification. Interesting message to send your population.
I know some people who have been up there recently. It is a very very backward place and people live in constant fear. They literally attempt to put a big show on for every visitor. But the sad truth cannot be masked.
What keeps them going is the unspoken agreement between the globalist interests of China and the US. There has never been a peace treaty signed between the sides in the Korean War and neither side has demobilized. The US "geopolitical interest" crowd sees their military presence there as a bulwark against "communism" a la the domino theory. It is of course only a make work project for the MIC.
The Chinese view North Korea as a self financing firewall against imperialism. Neither has any real regard for the people invoived, The North Koreans are cannon fodder for the obsolete Cold War.
Au contraire mon vieux his quite funny but also serious expose on the legal underpinnings and meanings of 'citizen/citizenism' is patriotic in a non-statist old fashioned way...
So will Uno stay on top of the Dear Leader Board out golfing his daddy?
Who, by the way's father (Uno's grampa) was Hero of the Revolution (not the album, the little gold star shit) because during the Korean War he made a grenade out of a pine cone and destroyed a Yankee Imperialist tank. Hey, that's the myth, folks.
The first few months of unlimited access to pretty girls (or boys), alcohol (or drugs), and no one to tell you you can't indulge in any fantasy you ever imagined will take up a lot of time.
and he has the guts to rock the bespoke Jnco's! My kind of ruthless world leader.

Fat boy has a fundamental PR problem in a hungry country.
So, another month of mandatory weeping on the cards for North Koreans?

The only thing that keeps them going is the Chinese.
Why do the Chinese prop them up?
They don't want South Korea to suddenly hit the mother load of low cost labor. Reunification means South Korean Investment in North Korea.

Good point on the labor.

it is a "flashpoint." i agree with that. and you forgot to include the Russians and Japan. What ever happened to the 4+2 talks anyway?
Dropping lodes.... ;>)

Unlikely that he was whacked considering we have evidence of his posting on ZH as recently as this afternoon

Who better than an autistic, virulently bigoted anti-American parrot?

HEY!
Thats my job, dont outsource it..............
He left the building.
Geez, how could anyone take orders from that creepy looking little dick?
Kim Jong Un is all shook up.
No worries though, the West needs enemies to demonize and feed the blood lust of the war mongerers.

Seriously. I'm envious. All the drugs, sex and rock and roll that Poyngyang has to offer.
The Northern girls are thin
I really dig the grimace they wear
And the gulag guards
They really knock them out
When they beat them dead down there..
And people talk about arresting Americans for crimes against humanity...
Kim dip shit, is getting a " HARD on FACIAL". That should piss someone off.

I think Geraldo is going to air a special called Kim Jong Un's Vault. Maybe he will find him there.
Maybe Geraldo'll get locked in there with Uno and the UN will rejoice.
