Charts Update before you consider selling the panic

thetrader's picture

By www.thetrader.se

Some charts below, before the World ends, according to some at least. Yes, the trader is bearish, and we see the market going lower long term, but let’s not forget, the market is moving on extremely small illiquid volumes, all summer. Some of the moves are almost not significant statistically speaking. Before one gets too bearish reading the newspapers, consider we are once again approaching support levels in the market. Despite everything feeling very bad, the Economy is falling once again, and the long term charts are saying sell, we are approaching some support levels. Beware selling into these supports and then chasing everything much higher, at least in the short term. Don’t be surprised to see the market reverse, and confuse everybody. Also note, the big Vix formation we mentioned weeks ago, is reaching some resistance levels. For full view of charts check link, as we have problems loading up charts for the moment.

Buy the dip..!!

Sell when everyone is buying, and buy when everyone is selling.

I moved my entire 401k into a money market account a month ago.

The trick now is when to buy again.

How does your post get moved to the top when it is not first?

That is a pretty neat trick also.  Is TG a "pot stirrer" by TD?

Am I missing something?

edit: In fact, are you imitating Texas Gunslinger?

C'mon TD, whats up with that?

edit: I am apparantly having trouble digesting the new system?  I changed the threshold and the post moved to chronological order?  WTF, over...

edit: All chronological now under all settings.  Anomaly or you guys working on the site I guess. Anyhoo...

Did you wait for the dow to pair losses before posting this? Doubt your gut instinct?  Down we go. As we get closer to the close the sell-off will strengthen.

"As we get closer to the close the sell-off will strengthen."

Even on a Friday?  What about the PPT (POMO, SOMA, whatever)?  I expect to see a slight ramp to the close.  I don't expect a green close, but you know those guys can't have a down week until they're ready for it.  If no deal by MOnday, the FRB will dump a ton of their SOMA equities to stir the members of Congress after a spectacular crash (which can be recovered into the rest of the week).

Disclosure:  no dogs in this fight.  All cash and bonds now.

POMO ended bout a month ago I believe.  If the fall keeps up, we should all be able to go long everything in a couple weeks upon announcement of QE3.  Lather, rinse, repeat is the name of the game right?

Yes, that's the plan exactly. But I think after the initial ramp up after the QE3 announcement things might get bumpy because inflation. oil prices, and commodities will skyrocket higher than ever, leading to more unemployment, civil unrest and societal breakdown. If TPTB were wise (silly I know) there would be no QE3. But who knows? Maybe they want to kill the dollar for good. Maybe we are approaching the endgame.

Yes, everybody should buy some plastic shoes like CROX and sell needed items like DF, FARM, and the stores that sell them like SWY.

We could buy some TIF and COH too. LOL

This is sarcasm please. What a disgrace for a honest market.

Yes.. you have to think like a machine to trade this market cos using logic, fundmentals and rationality will just get you massacred...

I'm beginning to agree. One solution though is to use said logic, fundmentals and rationality, do a little robot jig move and then invest exactly the opposite. That's what this has come to.

you misspoke. be very careful about BUYING the panic. but here's a chart i found yesterday, the (i can only describe) and that AAPL 1Month, vs GLD. Now if you think the world is ending, think again, check out this box score. The Useless Gadgets running 10% ahead of the The Ancient Relics, and the Relics are in their home field, with their best pitcher (Fiat Bernanke).

But you can make money either way watching this market narrow,  because stocks like AAPL will have less give back, and are now TBTF. My guess is the midlevel advisers are selling calls on all these. bon apetit.

AAPL is insanely overpriced. It's the riskiest stock out there. Why? The gadgets that Apple sells are becoming commodities. Screen resolution, processor speed is at its peak, consumers need nothing better. Prices can only go down and this is where the battlefield will be. Apple will be massacred in the coming months when consumers opt for lower priced gadgets. After all, most people just want to browse the web, chat on FB, and send some email. You don't need an iPad for that, any cheap gadget will do. This is def the selling point for AAPL.

You are speaking with rational thought, not the reality.  The fact is AAPL is red hot.  You are correct in your logic, although people never needed the Ipad.  They already have laptops and smart phones.  The success of the Ipad shows what brand loyalty, slick programming, innovative design, and good marketing can do to a product (the tablet pc) that had basically failed miserably and was thought to be a failed idea a couple of years back.  Remember that?  It is cool as hell and has slick features, apps, and overall design.  Apple exemplifies cool right now to the hipsters, and IMO, they will keep on being cool, and they will keep on winning, duh?  Anyhoo, I think you are wrong in your assessment.  Tell us more : )

Definitely disagree - Apple's genius isn't that it can do what other gadgets can do, it's that it can do some of the things other gadgets do and make you feel like you're different while doing it.  The marketing and packaging are brilliant, and are what allow them to sell crappy five-year-old tech for a massive premium.

So - as long as there are stupid people who need validation and can be made to feel like they're smarter than everyone else by buying a certain item, Apple tshotchkes will continue to sell like hotcakes.  Go long stupidity.

Brandy Night

Please clarify where Apple is "crappy five-year-old tech" ..5 years behind whom precisely??

As a sufferer of Microshites shite for 20 years the Gates & Bulmer global monopolists is the very personification of crappy (bug/virus riddled) tech. Microshite has ripped off and copied every part of Apples software, but even limping and lurching in Apples wake their copies are 2nd/3rd rate. Their touch screen PC was 3 years behind Apples iPhone tech but doesn't fuking work, even with years of extra R&D

When i see someone on a Microshte PC or laptop or business running on MutherfukinShite i feel nothing but pity for the endless bugs, viruses and expense of having to buy extra security which still doesn't protect their garbage Apple copy-cat software

Regards, "as long as there are stupid people who need validation" the MShite logo is where to find them. You've simply no fuking clue how stupid people are to put up with Microshite who are now so far behind Apple they're no longer compared in the same sentance because it's too embarrassing. Breathless, beaten and flogged MShite has been replaced as the old nag also-ran by Google, the new also-ran on the block who similarly copy-cat Apple and are also being made to look like an old nag

Nobody i know that has an Apple would ever convert back to MShite ... and if Apple customers get poorer in the years ahead they'll cut costs by simply buying a 2nd hand Apple ...you couldn't pay me or any Apple user to suffer MShite again... brand loyalty is something doormats Google and MShite only 'earn' by dropping their knickers (ie. being cheap tramps) ...Apple simply do everything right everytime, they are the consumate software Pros, you've got to be a fuking retard to think otherwise

Apple, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, IBM (NY state mega gangster scum) - all the same globalist scumbags who love Hussein.   I don't like Intel, another monpolist, but Paul Ortelini of INTC said the kenyan is a POS.

I am no Apple goon, I think their shit is way overpriced and their customers are AH's.  I totally agree that Apple customers need validation.

I have more respect for Jobs over feral Gates who is Buffett's butt buddy.

so why wasn't the Yugo a huge success? after all, people just want to get from A to B.

no. it doesn't work that way.

it's how you are seen.

sheeple don't feel comfortable just browsing the web at Starbucks if they are seen doing it on a cheap tablet.

just as they don't feel comfortable driving a Yugo.

they wouldn't want other sheeple to think they are poor now, would they?

"just as they don't feel comfortable driving a Yugo."

Because the A/C usually isn't functional, and the seats had horrible upholstery.  Although what you say is true, sheeple may be even more uncomfortable walking.  So, the one sure bet is on whoever can market a Mercedes Star hood ornament and stick-on letters for use on your Yugo.

I guess that the allegory is that if you are in the Starbucks crowd and don't have an Apple product, cut out one of their symbols and paste it one your device - who'd really know or care?  Would you look more out of place with a Motorola Xoom or just sitting their reading - gasp - a newspaper?

Better faux than no, yes?

Imam -  While there is a grain of truth in your repudiation, AAPL also exhibits signs of being a "super predator" (Apex)   This is in the pseudo-natural environment metaphor, of course.

The whole of 21st century infrastructure is designed to support Leader Class Devices (and the users of them.)  Everything follows from this simple fact.

Video-radiophones, mostly useful for Leader Class (middle & higher mgmt) are a huge drain upon the peoples through leveled-off phone and electricity costs.  Commoners are taught that a"phone booth" is a ridiculous option.  Please at least support Wal-Mart's location-knowing devices.

Super predator device needs a whole ecosystem.  As of now this is intact, but what happens when money's tight?  (or changed?)

Cheers!  XOE.
