Danny’s Gone
Everyone makes mistakes. I’ve made a bunch. It’s the ones that start small and seem insignificant that sneak up on you over time that are the ones that have the biggest consequence. The mistakes that lead to other people getting hurt are hard to confront. But the most pain comes when a mistake ends up hurting a child. I’ve done that.
I’m not writing about this to cleanse my soul (I wish it were that easy). I’m hoping that readers see this story and learn from my errors. I think my mistake has been made a few million times the past decade or so. It’s just time to discuss the consequences of our actions.
About ten years ago I was in need of a big hole. I have enough property to always need something. This time it was a drainage ditch and a dry well. I knew that there were workers looking for jobs in a nearby town. I’d heard about it from neighbors who had gone to a corner in Ossining, NY where day workers from south of the border came in the mornings. I didn’t think much of it at the time.
Sure enough, there were workers. Construction trucks were picking up guys. When I drove up a half dozen came up to me. They all talked a fast Spanish, they all wanted a job. For no particular reason I chose one. His name was Caesar. Two days later what I wanted done had been accomplished. A nice job at that. I paid cash for the work. It was $80 a day, plus I provided food.
I drove him back to where he lived at night; a not so nice apartment that he shared with eight others. I didn’t think much of it at the time.
He had my telephone number and called a few weeks later and said, “I need work”.
I understood that this was a cry for help from a guy who was having trouble getting food money. I had a ton of things that had been left undone. So I said, “Yes”.
So it became a few days a week. That lasted awhile. I introduced him to others. Everyone needed work done. It turned out that Caesar had many skills. He was a good mason and could lay up stonewalls. He was a painter, gardener, a decent mechanic and a pretty good rough and finish carpenter. He was from Quenca, Ecuador (small city outside of Quito). He had a wife, Ruth, and a daughter who was then three years old. He left his family to come to America.
We talked while we worked, I spoke “Spanglish” he spoke broken English, we understood each other perfectly. He, of course, was here illegally. He had made the long trip from Ecuador to NY via the Texas border. He came to the US because (his words) there were no jobs an no future in his home country. We became friends of a sort.
After a year or so, Caesar had saved up some money. He sent $10,000 (via Citi) back to Ecuador. This was the payoff money to the Coyotes who would transport his wife to the Texas border. She made the trip in the back of a box truck. She was raped on the way.
She was dumped, (with 20 others) in the brush country outside of Brownsville, Texas. She walked to the lights of the city and took a bus to NY. Thousands of “Ruth’s” made this trip.
Not too long after she made the long journey she was pregnant. This may have been the result of two devout Catholics and a long separation. But it was also a defensive move on their part. They knew that a child born in America would automatically become a citizen. They believed that if they were the parents of a American child they would never be deported. A common belief that has led to many children being born to illegal workers.
They named their son Danny. A healthy and happy child. Life was good for the family during the early part of the decade. There was steady work for both of them. Housekeeping for Ruth, Caesar worked construction. In 2003 they had a combined income of $60,000. A number that made them “rich” compared to the world they had come from. They were living the same dream that millions of immigrants had when they came to the US over the years. The difference, of course, was that they were illegal and had no right to be here. They bought fake Social Security cards (easy to get back then).
They lived in an area that was exploding in population of men and women who had come from Ecuador. Word travelled back to Cuenca that work and money was available. Over the course of just five years the illegal population exploded in the towns of Ossining, Peekskill and Mt. Kisco. Bodega’s and restaurants popped up.
Danny grew up fast. I saw to it that he had the medical attention he needed and later pulled a string or two to get him into the local schools. There were birthdays and holidays that I contributed to. He came to my home and I taught him to swim. Unlike his parents, he took to the water and swam like a rat. He called me, “Grandfather”. I was okay with that.
Danny was as much an American boy as any you could find. He spoke English perfectly (much to his parents chagrin). He liked American football, he didn’t play soccer. He loved basketball. He did fine in school. He made many friends. He was invited to the birthday parties of his classmates. He was a very happy kid.
Around 2005 my feelings on what was happening began to change. What had started innocently enough was now morphing into something that was no longer innocent. It was clearly a population explosion that would end up with a bad result. I slowly changed my views. I saw the risks that were developing for all that were involved. This change of heart was influenced by people who knew I was helping a family out. Some made it clear that I should not be helping the “Browns”.
I tried to make things right. I hired a lawyer and sponsored Ruth to become a US citizen. Her application was accepted in 2005. The formal notice that she was “in line” to become legal was a source of a great celebration. Six years later her application had still not gone anywhere. Not one single applicant from Ecuador was given immigration status (Green card) in all those years.
I saw to it that Ruth kept a record of all of her income. She paid taxes on what she made, the same as anyone would do. I thought this was important. It would prove that she was playing by the rules. I thought that the tax records would support her request for citizenship. It never mattered at all.
I no longer hired Caesar. I wanted him “on the books”. So he found work where no one asked questions about his legal status. If he had a SS card (illegal or not) there was plenty of work to be had. Somehow that quasi-legal status made it “right”.
Things fell apart for this family starting in 2008. The recession killed the construction industry. With that went the jobs the illegal’s had come for. The unemployment rate for the illegals went from functionally zero to at least 50%. Caesar was only able to find “pickup” work a few days a week.
I saw what was happening. I urged them to go back to Ecuador. I offered them the money to buy plane tickets. They wanted none of that. They stuck it out in the hope (like so many others) that the US economy would turn around. It never did.
Around 2010 there was a new challenge emerging. The local police began targeting the illegals. They stopped the cars they drove in to work. The cops were clearly profiling (they swore they were not). ICE (Immigration, Customs Enforcement) raided a few businesses that hired these workers. Jobs disappeared as a result. To make things worse the illegals were subject to random attacks. One was beat to death while in the custody of the police. A once happy immigrant community was scared to walk the streets.
Ruth, Caesar and Danny stuck it out as long as they could. But Caesar was stopped by the police and was given a summons to appear in court.
I was gone last week. When I got back there was a message on the phone from Danny. He was leaving the next day. He was crying. He wanted to see me before he left. When I got back I went to his home. He was already gone.
Think what it must be like for a ten-year old boy who is American as any of us to be forced out of the country. Think what a strange life he faces in a country that bears no resemblance to what he grew up with. He will not fit in. He doesn't speak Spanish fluently. His parents are back in a place that they know. They are also back in a place that has no opportunity for them and their son.
I know in my heart that I’m partially responsible for Danny’s plight. There is not much I can do about it. I will find him someday. I’ll try to make this right. But the damage has already been done. There is a ten-year old American boy whose life has been ripped apart. That’s a fact that is very hard for me to come to grip with.
There is little to celebrate this Labor Day. There are so many Americans who have no work or are doing jobs for little pay and no upside. The illegal workers who came here in the good times are leaving in droves. In 2007 there were 12mm in the country. The endless recession has reduced that number to 8mm in just a few years. The depression we are living through has hurt many families. The ones that are on the bottom of the rung are paying the biggest price. Families like Danny’s have been hurt the most.
I know that many readers will think that my participation in this story was all wrong. That Danny and I deserve the pain we have. I expect a fair bit of criticism for this. Trust me, no words you can write would make feel worse than I do. I think of Danny all the time. I pray that this American child is safe.

I only see kindness on your part. I hope you see Danny (and family) again.
Until the minimum wage laws are abolished and the free money credit society we live in is curtailed Caesar and his family will continue to take work from American workers.
There is no incentive for Johnny gringo to take a $5/hr job at Bruce's Mcmansion because he can go to best buy and purchase a 72 inch TV on credit.
Likewise Bruce won’t hire Johnny "on the books" because he would then have to pay minimum wage and comply with all sorts of bullshit regulations (workers comp, unemployment, labor laws and wrongful term lawsuits)
Abolish minimum wage, end cheap credit, curtail union organizing and end bank bailouts
Yeah, I’ll keep dreaming.........
You dream of a world where poor people are starving and are willing to work for less. If we get there you will have much less also. You are stupid.
gh
You dream of a world where you can eradicate poverty through legislating wage levels. YOU are stupid.
Bruce,
I lived in Ecuador for nearly twenty years during the boom of 'illegals'. They, correctly, see the 'gringitos' as a source of funds and return to Ecuador wealthier than when they left, but with a lot of resentment towards the treatment they received during their stay. Danny will be fine in Cuenca and will prosper.
I will return, also, in a couple of months and resume my life there as an immigrant. It is a beautiful place with, mostly, nice people and as an immigrant, I will be their source of funds. Do not despair over Danny, my friend; he has had the best of the US and now he will have the best of Ecuador----a place of good water, air, and soil. What more could you wish for him.
A trip to Cuenca on your part will prove the truth of my words. Go and spend a few weeks there and you will see that he is better off there than he could ever have been here.
oldman@ 13:05,
I lived in Ecuador for nearly twenty years during the boom of 'illegals'. They, correctly, see the 'gringitos' as a source of funds and return to Ecuador wealthier than when they left, but with a lot of resentment towards the treatment they received during their stay. (oldman, realize this a third party feeling not aimed at you,but those I am writing to, that cannot see it).
This is what pisses me off to no end.
I will not judge Bruce, he is doing his own introspection.
But, this attitude of illegals coming, getting more, free, and faster, and then having the NADS to go back(or stay) and hold ILL feelings towards those that made their lives FAR easier,(and were not treated as well as expected) jerks me off.
How about accepting the fact that YOU got the chance, you did it, and made a lot of money, and do not LOOK at being treated like you should be a SPECIAL guest, get your feeling hurt when your treated with a lack of respect by SOME.(if I were to go to your country illegally.
(HOW would I be treated?, would I be accepted,or in jail, or murdered,or lovingly looked upon as a wanted resident.........free and clear?.)
Your an illegal.......... so we should roll out the red carpet for you, and you have the nads to have a CHIP on your shoulders?.( be glad your not locked up indefinitely in a shithole w/bread and water, w/no atty's, nor recompense to get out w/out a wad of cash from home.
Damn you, you ingrate pompous asses. Before our country went to hell, the LOWEST paid American made more money than 98% of the rest of the earths workforce.(ain't so no mo).
The jobs Americans WONT do, is, was always has been a crock of shit.WE have screwed ourselves for the cheap ass frn wages paid to labor from down south.
Cross over into Mexico w/out a passport, and see what happens when you get caught, once you may get out, twice forget it, 3rd time is a death wish.
If these deals were reciprocal maybe I would feel differently, sadly, they are not.
You reap what you sow................................we are reaping, and the total bill is not even close to due.
Good post, Dos----thanks,
Yeah, me too. I tried to explain to the Ecuadorians for years the difference between being an immigrant and taking out as opposed to be an immigrant and bringing things in---like my savings to live on. They would never acknowledge the truth of what I was saying, so finally, I understood that they saw me differently than I sawmyself.
'Asi es', is what they say a lot and it is a very zen thing to say---it speaks of the isness of their world. A truly important lesson for this oldman. They do not need our 'help'; thery need our money and support. This is a very politically astute society and they are hip to what they want. I leave them alone now unless they need money or lodging or transport because they have their own plan and I am but a guest among them. I have permission to be there and am grateful for this. If they want me out, the local community can claim that I am a problem and am interfering with the multicultural ideals of the constitution----I won't go on with this except to say that I am invited to live among them without any real rights. Acceptable to me.
The culture clash is the same that I have with my own culture, so it is the same here as there. I just do not belong, but I don't give a shit---my reason for this life is other anyway. I pester you guys not as a troll but as an oldman with a different point of view----never take anything I write as important enough to be 'personal'; I,m rarely ever personal.
Thanks again---immigration is an interesting experience---I see things more as 'they' do now. I am one of them.
What bruce is remorseful over is his-----I was only saying that the boy is fine and speaking spanish already. He's just a new kid on the block until the next little dude shows up. om
All is Maya, and ALL things must pass.
Agreed. Sadly many in the US think the US has a lock on happiness and contentment and denying anyone entry condemns them. It is not true. And they do not need to reach the US consumption levels to be happy. I have seen happy people in other countries in circumstances Americans would lablel unthinkable (which also speaks to the extreme softness / weakness of Americans).
That is the whole point of marketing: to create a need where none exists. Think about it. If the need existed, and you made a product to fill that need, why would you spend money on marketing?
You mean if Pedro and his pals in MS13 do not have iPads and Dancing with The Stars - they can still be happy?
The American pubic are sheep brainwashed by TV. TV was the greatest invention for controlling people.
El culpable soy yo,
El culpable soy yo
This is a nice piece of sob sister fiction.
Despite the tragedy(s), I see a young soon to be man who (in no particular order) speaks two languages, attended school, received healthcare, made friends, and has been exposed to other cultures.
You have responsibility in these things as well. Danny is thankful.
You say Danny won't fit in back (home)? For all we really know you may have helped create a leader within a community.
Bruce:
I look forward to all of your writing.
What do you think the unemployment rate is in the world? 40% 50%? The most populous areas have the most unemployment. If you offer them slave wages in America ($80/day, tax-free) these poor people will capsize our boat.
There is no way we can absorb them and it is shear selfishness that folks rationalize taking advantage of this situation.
You should feel guilty as your actions paved their road to Hell. I'm sorry for the situation, but you created it. It really was not a whole lot different than a banker making a liar loan and then lamenting about it ending badly.
I lived in California up until 2008. I lived in an area where the average home was $1.8 million. When the schools announced that they had to redistrict our exceptionally good schools to accommodate the influx of non-English speaking Mexicans I moved. Out of State. I never hired the illegals because I thought it was hypocritical to pay slave wages and then complain about the trend in the public schools. Most illegals have tons of kids in their families and those kids end up in our broke schools. Hence, a guy who could afford labor (me), did all the work on his remodels himself. My family saw me a lot less, but it was the right decision.
This is all about money. We have an economy that cannot accommodate these poor people. We have schools which can't accommodate them. Yet, we have bleeding hearts here who are basically saying, "screw our kids and our own labor markets." It is your head AND your heart that must work together. You want to help? Send them money back to Ecuador, don't make it everyone's expense.
I hope everyone gets this.
The US is merely 5% of the world population. You folks that think we can give the world a giant group hug are basically saying, "F U" to your kids and grandkids...and what kind of help will the future America be able to give these places when we become as economically important as Mexico? Mexico cannot even help to its own people, forget about everyone else.
I still love your writing. Thanks for sharing your personal story.
You folks that think we can give the world a giant group hug are basically saying, "F U" to your kids and grandkids...
Bingo!
Open borders have fvkked'ed their children's and grandchildren's future. Yeah - we will all reboot and I have some gold coins and my kids will be fine. Open borders and liberalism along with the elites have bankrupted America. ZH is filled with a few libs who probably voted for Obama and now attack the bankers or whatever when THEY were part of the problem in electing this POS. McCain was the elites back up plan but he still would have been light years better.
A lot of libs and open borders types think their children and grandchildren will be able to live above it all. You will probably be dead when junior or grand junior gets hit in the face by reality.
A sad story but does not condemn the real culprit wihch is idiological faith in a global trading system that rewards outsourcing of jobs at all levels to developing nations. What Bruce is agonizing over is trifle in scope compared to trade with China , India and other developing nations which is devestating jobs in America.. The personal account while touching , can not be compared to the labor situation now evolving everywhere due to overstimulation and financial leveraging brought on by politicians and multinationals .

Bruce, you should report yourself.
I'm going to sleep in Bruce's house, uninvited. And when I drunkenly fall , I'm going to demand that he pay my hospital bill. And that of my pregnant wife. And I will expect bruce to put up with the gang friends of my teenage sons and their pregnant putas.
And if one my my mediocre barely literate children wants to go to Princeton or Penn, I expect Bruce's children to willingly step aside in the name of diversity.
Oyo! Hey my MS-13 gang members homies want to maybe rob Bruce a little. Maybe sell his kids some drugs I theeenk. Or maybe meet his daughters.
Get the fuck out of the Iroquois Nation, whiteman.
I highly doubt they are leaving. Why go back to a country with limited economic opportunities (by their own admission) when they can stay here and get free schooling for the kids, free healthcare, free food, etc, etc, etc.
I just don't buy the fact they are leaving. Being unemployed in America is still far better than being unemployed in their home country.
i am staunchly against illegal immigration but not helping a neighbor in need is worse....do not be the priest or levite - following the path of the good samaratan leads you to the kingdom of god.....
An aside: if you are young, this is precisely why you should not have children. Not at this time, not in the world we currently live. Populations are exploding across the world, Earth cannot support 7 trillion humans. Even worse, the population is exploding at ever faster rates.
Witness the mass starvation in Somalia where millions are in trouble, and it's the children who are dying. Our entire society now is built upon fiscal and financial institutions rife with fraud and corruption. Markets are rigged. Worldwide, debts plus promises are in the hundreds of trillions of dollars (not an exaggeration). The promises cannot be kept, the debts cannot be repaid. If you love your future children, the best thing you can do for them is not subject them to the rapidly declining sewer we live in. Modern finance is circling the drain and it's going to be a struggle to avoid getting sucked down with it.
This is on the right track....bringing more people into a world of declining opportunity can only have extremely negative personal consequences for the vast majority who have no marketable skills, or the 'cauldron' that would help them learn a growth opportunity.
Either that or a national, internationally sponsored Living wage must be designed whether one works or not.
The notion of a living wage or vouchers that will provide every living soul with a base line of survival mode necessities and cellphones will gradually emerge, provided there is no pandemic that wipes out billions of people.
I don't see how any government can survive that does not provide its people with a 'dole' if they can't or won't work. England has just erupted over the scaling back of the dole and I would expect it to get even more violent in other cities that don't pay off their citizenry not resort to violence. It's been going on in our own inner cities and other poverty stricken areas for decades. I can only see those food stamp numbers, sectino 8 housing and other "something for doing nothing" continue on the upswing for decades to come, perhaps enshrined in our Bill of Rights one day.
The way I cope in this strange world is to stay focused on what I have, rather than what I had or don't have. You have been a positive force in Danny's life and there's no telling how that will play out. You should be proud of that.
when basic human compassion crosses borders, which is more important? the border or the person?????
When basic human compassion crosses borders into a land full of folks already there and already requiring an equal level of compassion, which is more important - the people already there requiring compassion, or the invader requiring compassion?
"It is OUR country. OURS, not their's"
At the same time everybody you STOLE it from its natives so...
And I can foresee a time (20-50 years) when Mexico will come to collect what's his... (that is the Southern part of the U.S.)
Actually, I think the Chinese will come take it all, since they were the true natives, crossing the Aleutian icemass....
And maybe the Africans will raise the ante, since all humanity started there. The Africans are truly the natives of the entire world, no?
The "native" argument is a very slippery slope.
Maybe the Aztecs will take it all back and start lopping heads again?
Mexico is funny historically, I think. Spain, in your parlance, stole it, and established Catholicism and language. Yet now, you are arguing that that Spanish thief, should take the US back??? It is a very dynamic situation...and if you are on any land it is likely that you own stolen property (in your argument).
You're cherry-picking history.
<<You're cherry-picking history.>>
No, sir -- it is you that is cherry-picking history!
There is no doubt that Spain, like England, took possession of a large portion of North America by armed robbery. The difference is, and it's a big one, Spain mostly exploited its New World possessions rather than cause a mass immigration thereto. The Spanish immigrants intermarried with the natives and often enslaved them. The English immigrants killed them instead in order to remove them from the stolen real estate. There are exceptions.
On a basis of ancestral national origin, the Mexicans and their fellow Latin Americans have a much greater claim to North and South America than the Anglo-Americans and the more recent European immigrants do. Native Americans are not Chinese, BTW.
As far as the "Rule of Law" is concerned, the American Indians were not allowed to vote on whether or not immigration from Europe would be allowed. They were not represented. Instead they were murdered.
No your the cherry picker and your also not very good with history. Did you ever hear of Indian Reservations that is were the English forced settled the Native Americans. Hell I just read that the Cherokee Nation kicked out the descendants of their slaves (African American) from the tribe. The Spanish exploited their natives to death, then then brought in Africans. As far as them being "intermarried with the natives" I guess you would consider that the Romans just intermarried with the Sabine women. By the way have you ever heard of Cortez and Pizarro?
As poor as your English is, one could conclude that you're an illegal immigrant also.
And no, I did not "ever hear of Indian Reservations [sic] that is were [sic] the English forced settled the Native Americans". Maybe you can provide some evidence of this -- links, perhaps?
@ cfosnock: "As far as them being "intermarried with the natives . . ."
What do you think a "Mexican" is racially, a Spaniard? I have heard of Cortez and Pizarro. Are you claiming they, and their fellow Spaniards, are of the same origin as the Latin American mestizos?
Of the roughly 9 million african slaves imported into the new world, 493K came to the USA. Where are the rest?
A lot of them died, most I would say, fever, disease, some ran away and mixed with native peoples, but not that many. The Caribbean has a lot of them (their decendants). Brazil got quite a lot of them, the Portuguese were the big slavers till the Brits forced them out of the business, and of course Brazil was their prime destination.
dont worry - after the next election - the folks in washington will declare an amnesty for illegals
this is how and why this country of our is constantly in a state of flux
the path to the hell this place may become soon may have been paved with good intentions - but the DC clown posse only cares about them selves and only them selves - dont forget it
Bruce, I cannot fault you and I hope you can one day find Danny. I'm sorry for your loss.
BK: Tip of the hat and God bless you.
nice writing Bruce.. thanks
# In 2007 there were 12mm in the country.
only QUESTION HOW DO THEY KNOW IF THEY ARE ILLEGAL ? by counting western union transfers into s. america?
alx
Mr. Krasting, I have always enjoyed your writing, both for its sagacity and honesty. You are one smart cookie, sir. Also, after reading this, I come to another conclusion: you are a traitor to your fellow citizen. You, sir, are a domestic off-shorer, who has undermined the American working class as surely as any mega-corp sending our jobs overseas. Your 'compassion' was really just economic reasoning; cheap labor cloaked in care. Oh, you can hang whatever rationalization you want over helping Caeser and Danny and Ruth, while you undercut the chances of native born 'Charles' and 'David' and 'Rebecca'. But it is OUR country. OURS, not their's. Of course, like all elites, you just cannot comprehend this. I submit, sir, that it is time you and others like you consider what that means and the implications of being a citizen and the repercussions of your economic treason.
There is a significant indigenous population where I live. I suspect that many wish we of European extraction would go back where we came from. But goddamn it we stole this land fair and square !
Good size Indian population here too, and many will claim to hate whites but not a single one of them would give up all that BIA money, not one wants to live in a deerskin tent, and not one wants to stop using their cars to get around. Most will tell you how proud they are of their heritage, but not one would actually want to go back to living that way.
and you sir are full of righteous indignation. and yet who is perfectly clean? have you never bought anything at wal-mart, or for that matter ANYTHING with a Made in China label? is the coffee you drink fair trade? one could ask whether it is even moral to eat food that is grown "conventionally" (i.e. unsustainably) when there are expensive, inconvenient, local alternatives, or failing that, personal choices about everything that goes in and comes out of our mouths.
i'm not condoning mr. krasting's actions, nor am i judging him.
it seems to me that on a subtle level the "us vs. them" mentality which has served us no so well since paleolithic times is the underlying context of the mess we are in and which is finally coming to a head. it is tribalism cloaked in law that enables all the excesses and abuses, and enables the manipulation from the top we are starting to understand the full scope of.
buckminster fuller said something like, "until everyone is a success, i am not a success." i have no idea how that could come about, but while keeping my powder dry i'm still open to something completely different on planet earth.
The 'everybody does it' argument is pretty weak, pal. That's the highway to hell.
I go out of my way to hire Americans. It almost always works out fine. In two cases I got union liberal fuxx's but their work was okay. They were working on their own. One dreamed of getting a union gig in NY. He had more work than he could handle under Bush (who sucked less than the muslim) doing custom carpentry and has no work now. I almost got in physical fights with the AH with his class warfare BS and evil republican crap. The AH was so negative.
The best are usually southerners. I will also hire African-Americans.
In some cases, I will do the work myself.
Don't you mean "Spaceship Earth". ;)
i agree. krasting, you're an asshole. your writing of this is simply a way of showing off your misguided goodness, which is really just shallow egoism. by being one of the goody two-shoes helping an illegal, you encouraged the business of coyotes, their $10k profit, and the false promise of never-ending jobs that your fellow citizens are losing. you are responsible for this woman's rape.
"you are responsible for this woman's rape."
Yeah, no way she would ever have been raped in Ecuador. Look into the crime statistics for Quito or Guayaquil.
It's your fault, Bruce. You should have done the right thing and raped her, and sent them all back to Cuenca to rot.
i agree. krasting, you're an asshole. your writing of this is simply a way of showing off your misguided goodness, which is really just shallow egoism. by being one of the goody two-shoes helping an illegal, you encouraged the business of coyotes, their $10k profit, and the false promise of never-ending jobs that your fellow citizens are losing. you are responsible for this woman's rape.
No, the church and its misguided ideal of marriage is to blame for her rape.
They both knew the price coming in, and she was willing to risk even death so her kid could stand a better chance than anyone before her got.
Snide internet comments are reserved for petit bourgeois like the above to entertain their G4 Tower based ideologies. You try to go where the goin's good. You do it abstractly, they have to do it for real.
And as the post-peak, Eco Technic future unfolds, you're gonna find yourself changing boundaries and making *all kinds* of deals just to get by.
i mean, really krasting, what a dipshit you are.
"He had my telephone number and called a few weeks later and said "I need work....So I said "YES" how breathlessly romantic - maybe you can get Fabio to model for the cover of your upcoming paperback about your latin laborer.
and the title, "Danny's Gone" maybe that'll inspire Elton John to write one just for you, to further herald your unparalleled humanity.
"They believed that if they were the parents of a(sic) American child they would never be deported" - bet you did nothing to dissuade them, either, because facts don't matter, only feelings, right?
"In 2003 they had a combined income of $60,000" - that you helped them take from rightful citizen workers.
"I saw to it that he had the medical attention he needed" - yeah, why expect his parents to do that when you can encourage their dependency on a rich gringo who needs to feel good about himself for selfish reasons
"Some made it clear that I should not be helping the"Browns" - did they really say that or was it just in your head, because they can't possibly be as open-minded as you?
"I no longer hired Caesar. I wanted him on the books" - what did you do, go back to the Home Depot for a new illegal?
"If he had a SS card (illegal or not) there was plenty of work to be had. Somehow that quasi-legal status made it right" - that's not quasi-legal, it is yet another crime committed by an illegal alien who you aided and abetted.
YOU ARE SUCH AN ASSHOLE!
