Egyptian Brutality Comes to America: Police Fire Rubber Bullets at Peaceful Protesters

George Washington's picture

This is not Egypt, Greece or Italy ... this is America:

The injured gentlemen is Veterans for Peace member Scott Olsen, allegedly shot with a rubber bullet.

This is another gentlemen allegedly shot in the face with a rubber bullet (his injury is above his right eye, while the injury to Scott Olsen appears to be on the left side of his face):

http://s1-02.twitpicproxy.com/photos/large/433190207.jpg

Here are police roughing up a peaceful woman protester:

And a policeman threw a flash grenade into a crowd trying to help an injured protester:

Some are calling this the "new Kent State".

And protesters from Tahrir Square, Egypt, say this is what it looked like there.

The first problem that has to be addressed, Forgiven, is that we no longer live in a free society.

The Constitution is no longer the Law of the Land, and the only reason that people like me aren't wholesale-ly arrested is because of the fact that there isn't enough place (even WHEN the rumored FEMA camps are opened) to put us all -- where are you going to off going on half the US population?

Amazing how quickly the very tactics you describe - permits to protest in designated protest zones - went from being mocked and decried when applied by the Chinese Governement at the 2008 Beijing Olympics to becoming policy in American cities.  If this kid dies...Man, things are going to escalate.

When you consider how easy it is in this country for any nut to buy a gun, then look at the ramp up in the police trade of riot gear, body armor, automatic weapons, armored vehicles, it does give you pause, doesn't it?

It's almost like killing any kind of law that contains the word "gun" was the plan from the beginning. All it will take is one nut of any extreme pursuasian with a need to pop off a round and this thing goes up like an ammo dump, unleashing the full might and power of the modern American police force.

Now would be a really good time to hand out Don Bowl, lots and lots of it, to everybody including the cops, for a little love in.

"You hear that?"

"Hear what?"

"Sounded like a gun shot...."

"Nah man, that was a sonic boom..."

"What the fuck is a sonic boom?"

"Did you hear that?"

"Yea, it was a sonic boom..."

"Dude, I'm soo high..."

"Yea man, try this, we call it Screeper..."

"What about the fucking sonic boom?"

"What sonic boom?"

"Chill dude, it sounded like a gun shot and we ain't got no guns..."

"Fuckin A, this is good."

"Now what were you asking about?"

"Fuck if I know; did you catch The series last night...?"

"... and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

The crux of the problem is'nt liberalism. It's discarding Liberty and Freedom, and choosing social welfare. Without the US Constitution and the protection from tyranical govt.,you will see much worse. But adherance to the Constitution and the individual Liberty it brings is something you don't believe in. You wouldnt try to defend it because that would really cost you something, your gov't free stuff. So I say it will get worse, your hell on earth of you ignoring Liberty.

Yes we have tyranny at the Federal level but one of the main reasons for the implosion was ACORN/CRA/community organizers suing banks to force them to make loans to anyone or  it was racist.  The banks gladly made then and also leveraged up on teh trading side and MBS.  You also had lefties at World Savings, Fannie and Freddie setting the time bomb to blow.  People like Sandlers, Raham, Gorelnick etc.  Then you have Soros and his hedgie short cronies (Paulson et al) with Goldman lighting the fuse to profit from the chaos they helped create.

These kids have been screwed over by liberalism and university union shops which pushed joke degrees to get their lefty buddies professorships teaching these kids nonsense.  Now these same liberal cities with liberal Dem mayors are cracking these OWS kids heads open.   The muslim will save the day with a student loan bailout.  This is tyranny.

Yeah it sucks under Bush and the Repubs but at least it was semi sane.  This is headed for you know where....

Well, I just came from Oaktown an hour ago; my wife picks me up on 8th & Broadway after work.

They are back out in the streets and there are choppers in the air again.  The group is trying to re-take the plaza. Storm troopers all around.  One might get the impression the marchers are a little angry.  They will learn tactics fast, you watch.

Perhaps what we should be saying is that the vast majority of police are decent people who nevertheless are obliged to follow orders until the day that even they will join the crowd in protest at what is being done either because their conscience becomes too much to bear or because they no longer have a job thanks to job cuts. As for the bad apples, they exist everywhere. Even in the crowd of protestors.

Ah yes, Oakland (aka "there's no there there"), that lovely city by the bay where recently the fire department in mass watched a man down in chest deep bay water on account that saving him didn't explicitly fall under anyones job mandate.. The city where CAs elderly, '70's disco throwback governor (formerly mayor of Oakland) is currently blizzard-signing wacko laws into place.

Folks, steer wide and clear of Oakland, CA too if you can help it.
Let it implode, you'll be doing it a favor.

But between that, the Super Bowl, and the like, I think we've got April-June, 2012, as the blooey point.
