The Failure to Investigate 9/11 Has Bankrupted America

George Washington's picture

Preface: This post does not discuss whether or not 9/11 was a “false flag” operation or an “inside job”.  Anything other than a discussion of the negligence of the Bush administration is unnecessary for the purposes of this essay, and is thus beyond the scope of this post.

In case you didn’t get the memo, we are currently in a depression. And see this

And given that American citizens can be indefinitely detained or assassinated at the whim of the president, it is pretty clear that we now live in a police state.

This post will demonstrate – without getting into discussions of an “inside job” one way or the other – that the failure to hold a real 9/11 investigation is a core cause of our loss of our prosperity and freedom.

THE FAILURE TO INVESTIGATE 9/11 HAS BANKRUPTED AMERICA

Top economists say that endless war bankrupts a nation.

For example, Nobel prize winning economist Joe Stiglitz says that the $3-5 trillion spent on the Iraq war alone has been very bad for the American economy. See this, this and this.

The endless wars have also been a main component of America’s soaring debt:

TAX CUTS DEBT The Failure to Investigate 9/11 Has Bankrupted America

And huge debts exert a very real drag on the economy.

As shown below, we wouldn’t have launched the war against Iraq – or the endless panoply of wars throughout the Middle East and North America – if 9/11 had actually been in investigated.

(Even the 9/11 Commission itself admits that there was criminal obstruction of justice and a whitewash of the investigation. See this, this, this, this, and this. As such, there has never been a real investigation.)

THE POLICE STATE WAS CAUSED BY THE FAILURE TO INVESTIGATE 9/11

The police state started in 2001.

Specifically, on 9/11, Vice President Dick Cheney initiated Continuity of Government Plans that ended America’s constitutional form of government (at least for some undetermined period of time.)

On that same day, a national state of emergency was declared … and that state of emergency has continuously been in effect up to today.

It is beyond dispute that 9/11 was entirely foreseeable, but – due to the extreme negligence and incompetence or lack of caring of the Bush administration (remember, I’m not getting into any other theories in this post) it wasn’t stopped.  Even the chair of the 9/11 Commission said that the attack was preventable.

If there had been a real 9/11 investigation, the Bush administration’s extreme negligence would have come to light.   And Americans would have learned that terrorism can largely be prevented if the military and intelligence officers are simply allowed to do their job.

As just one example, Dick Cheney was in charge of all counter-terrorism exercises, activities and responses on 9/11. See this Department of State announcement; this CNN article; and this essay.

The genius Mr. Cheney apparently scheduled 5 war games for the morning of 9/11. Specifically, on the very morning of September 11th, five war games and terror drills were being conducted by several U.S. defense agencies, purportedly including one “live fly” exercise using real planes. Then-Acting Head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Air Force General Richard B. Myers, admitted to 4 of the war games in congressional testimony — see transcript here or video here (6 minutes and 12 seconds into the video.

False radar blips to be inserted onto air traffic controllers’ screens as part of the war game exercises, which may have confused the heck out of them (see this December 9, 2001 Toronto Star article; pay-per-view; reprinted here).  Way to let that one slip through, Mr. in-charge-of-all-war-games.

The military – under the Vice President’s command that day – didn’t scramble enough fighter jets, and then scrambled jets far over the Atlantic Ocean, in what Senator Mark Dayton called:

The most gross incompetence and dereliction of responsibility and negligence that I’ve ever, under those extreme circumstances, witnessed in the public sector.

And the knucklehead personally watched flight 77 for many miles, but – according to Secretary of Transportation Norm Minetta – stopped it from being shot down before it hit the Pentagon (and see this).

Americans would have learned through any real 9/11 investigation that Cheney’s negligence and mucking around in what should have been the generals’ jobs was partly responsible for allowing 9/11 to happen.

In other words, a real 9/11 investigation would have shown Americans that 9/11 should of, could of, and would have been stopped – and that America can protect itself against future terrorist attacks – simply by playing goalie well in our country.

And Americans – instead of being scared into immobility – would have been mad at our government for dropping the ball. And we would have demanded accountability and effective service from our elected officials.  (Indeed, experts have repeatedly demonstrated that fear of terror makes people stupid … and makes them willing to accept a loss of liberty and other abuses they would never otherwise accept.)

THE ROAD NOT TAKEN

Instead, of course, Americans were led to believe that Al Qaeda was going to get us unless we took the fight to the Middle East and North Africa.  The administration pretended that Saddam Hussein had a hand in 9/11 – one of the main justifications for that war.

Had a real 9/11 investigation been conducted before we launched the Iraq war, it would have taken away one of the two main rationales for that war. (The FBI was also instructed to blame the anthrax attacks on Al Qaeda, and high-level government officials pointed towards Iraq as the source of the anthrax, even though there was absolutely no basis for those claims. But that’s another story.)

Dan Rather was right when he wrote last week:

We have been so afraid; so hell bent on destroying enemies … both foreign and domestic … we have hurt ourselves and our democracy.

Jimmy Carter’s National Security Adviser also told the Senate in 2007 that the war on terror is so overblown that it is “a mythical historical narrative”.

And as I noted in 2008:

Former deputy national intelligence officer for transnational threats, a 23-year senior CIA analyst, who “drafted or was involved in many of the government’s most senior assessments of the threats facing our country [and who] devoted years to understanding and combating the jihadist threat”, writes today in the Washington Post that the neocons have whipped us into an irrational fear of the terrorism. In reality, “Osama bin Laden and his disciples are small men and secondary threats whose shadows are made large by our fears” and our leaders.

This is no surprise to anyone who has been paying attention. The BBC produced a documentary called The Power of Nightmares in 2005 that showed that politicians were greatly exaggerating the terrorist threat for political ends.

And unfortunately, many in government have intentionally whipped up fear in the American public for their own political purposes. For example, FBI agents and CIA intelligence officials, constitutional law expert professor Jonathan Turley, Time Magazine, Keith Olbermann and the Washington Post have all said that U.S. government officials “were trying to create an atmosphere of fear in which the American people would give them more power”.

And former Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge admits that he was pressured to raise terror alerts to help Bush win reelection. Fear sells.

And because 9/11 was never really investigated, the government instead of doing the things which could actually make us safer – are doing things which increase the risk of terrorism.

As such, the threats from terrorism form even more of a “justification” for a suspension of our Constitutional rights.

The failure to investigate 9/11 has bankrupted America financially and morally, and has allowed us to stand idly by while our liberty has been destroyed.

I see that you are a follower of PNAC....maybe you worked on staff when they were crafting the policy paper in 1992 that planned to do exactly what you have described above:  invade and destroy most countries in the Middle East.

The article is framed in an extremely naive, if not ignornt perspective, void of all the evidence that supports the 9=11 investigation was a historic farse. It wasn't the failure to investigate 9-11 that led us a stray, it was fabrication of so alled evidence of WMD in Iraq that became the basis for engaging in war. The valid question is why and who stood and continues to stand to benefit from such monumental fabrication. If the author had even the slightest touch with reality he should have discovered that this wasn't the first time American citizens were taken to war based on lies, anf if history is any indication of what may be ahead, it won't be the last!. We Americans need enlightment on why/how we are repeatedly fooled. An article on that with supporting evidence would be worth the space on this blog.

Frankly I'm isulted!!

The BIS is back:

The Bank for International Settlements was a joint creation in 1930 of the world's central banks, including the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Its existence was inspired by Hjalmar Horace Greeley Schacht, Nazi Minister of Economics and president of the Reichsbank, part of whose early upbringing was in Brooklyn, and who had powerful Wall Street connections. He was seconded by the all-important banker Emil Puhl, who continued under the regime of Schacht's successor, Dr. Walther Funk.

Sensing Adolf Hitler's lust for war and conquest, Schacht, even before Hitler rose to power in the Reichstag, pushed for an institution that would retain channels of communication and collusion between the world's financial leaders even in the event of an international conflict. It was written into the Bank's charter, concurred in by the respective governments, that the BIS should be immune from seizure, closure, or censure, whether or not its owners were at war. These owners included the Morgan-affiliated First National Bank of New York (among whose directors were Harold S. Vanderbilt and Wendell Willkie), the Bank of England, the Reichsbank, the Bank of Italy, the Bank of France, and other central banks. Established under the Morgan banker Owen D. Young's so-called Young Plan, the BIS's ostensible purpose was to provide the Allies with reparations to be paid by Germany for World War I. The Bank soon turned out to be the instrument of an opposite function. It was to be a money funnel for American and British funds to flow into Hitler's coffers and to help Hitler build up his war machine.

This is archived footage from the September 24 House Financial Services hearing at which both Paulson and Bernanke are present. Kanjorski asks Paulson this very question, and states to Paulson, that the information came originally from him. Now, Kanjorski may be anything but not senile as he is merely repeating facts that Paulson tells him. And Paulson does not refute the facts. His explanation is somewhat amusing.

From the moment you begin to think you are told of the greatness of America, the land of the free, home of the brave.  My country right or wrong, and I pledge allegance.

What happens when you get older and the evidence appears to tell an entirely different story?

What do you do?  Do you hope that someone will come along and bring things back to the way you were told they were?

Or do you wrap yourself in the Flag and with religious zeal, deny what your very eyes are witnessing?

From my vantage point it appears that the later option prevails simply because it's the easy way out.  If I can delude myself into believing the propaganda, nothing more is required of me, and the pre-game military hoopla is appropriate.  Lest we ask ourselves truthfully, what are we fighting and dying for?

As long as the Myth of America is maintained, nothing will change.  The powers that be know this and have passed legislation that makes you a criminal, calling you a terrorist for exposing the Myth.

As was said in the Bourne series, you guys are in deep shit and your not wearing the shoes for it.

Even if you take 9/11 at face value - that it was an event planned and conducted by a few Islamic etremist followers of Osama BinLaden (and there are many reasons to question that), if the alleged purpose of 9/11 was to enrage the US and draw us into a war into Afghanistan (similar to the Soviet misadventure there) and to bankrupt the US in the process, BinLaden won.

Let's be blunt.  BiunLaden got all he wanted and FAR more. With Bush going into Iraq, he enraged most maonstream followers of Islam who were embarassed themselves at 9/11.  Instead of facing a small band of mujhadeen (ironically many of the same people the US sponsored against the Soviets), the US faced a widespread opposition in Iraq as well as the extremists in Afghanistan.  Our actions actually left Iran as a stronger and more influential power in the region as well.  The neo-con dreamm of some 'idealized' Iraqi state imploded and the costs contributedd mightily to the bankruptcy of the US (though we did much of that damage ourselves).

If anything we seem to have proved the moral bankruptcy of the US (as BinLaden claimed) and made it clear to the world that our system is deeply flawed and anythign but the 'shining beacon of democracy' we claim to be.

Things are pretty bad if the largest military power in the world has - by the stated goals of an opponent - effectively 'lost' to a small group of ill organized extremists, and in the process lost our own soul.

Don't you think you are being a little too harshly judgmental?  It's not fair to say it is at "the whim" of the President.  Given that it is given serious consideration and discussion between the President and his National Security Advisors, it would be fairer to say that an American Citizen abroad can now be administered non-judicial processing and/or punishment without the full Constitutional protections originally envisoned by the Founders back during the days when the US was a Constitutional Republic.

Are you living in a cave?  You must be to make such a statement.  There is simply no basis for ANY erosion of our rights/liberties under the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.  This "war on" mantra (take your pick, "terror", "drugs", etc.) is a load of crap.  Habeas Corpus is there for a reason.  So is Posse Comitatus.  And the neo-cons still in control of this country want to do away with both.

Hell there's a story out today about a guy who videotaped the police in Illinios and is now facing 75 years in prison.  This country is heading down the fascist road quickly and I hope many more patriotic Americans (like George Washington here) will stand up and tell the truth about it.

Personally, i think some may be incompetent, and are in place to be puppets and patsies, or because of connections.

Overall they are quite competent.  Apparently, they no longer think the public is worthy of a coverup that is internally consistent and explains the facts logically.  That is what a "real" investigation would have produced.

An honest and competent investigation would require a powerfull independent and disinterested agency that does not exist.

Quinn encourages some very sick shit and the man should be pitied but not encouraged. His previous webmaster kicked him off of a free blog he provided for Racism and other sickening posts. The man has some serious issues under his facade of economic journalism.

Jim Quinn flaunting his racial fear and class hatred on his new website…

“I have done previous posts on the 30 blocks of squalor. You can refresh your memory here:

theburningplatform.com/blog/2010/03/17/30-blocks-of-squalor

I have done a number of posts about the section of Chestnut Street in Phila between 69th street and 39th street. It is a depressing section of squalor. Once nice row homes in disrepair, collapsing porches, boarded up tenements, and Direct TV dishes seemingly on every $15,000 piece of crap house. This stretch of concrete is inhabited by the poorest of the poor. The racial balance is 100% Black, 0% everyone else. I am forced by circumstances on the Schuykill Expressway to take this route into work quite often.

I wonder if Mayor Nutter notes the irony along the 30 blocks of squalor? I observe the poorest of the poor shuffling along talking on their cell phones or listening to their iPods. I observe 22 year old black men driving $60,000 Mercedes cars. Trash, garbage, and filth litter the streets, but every other block has a beautiful mural on the side of a building showing black people doing wonderful things. Maybe if a few more black men in this community actually married the women they impregnated and manned up and raised a family, the pictures would reflect reality. “

Smokey says:

“ Jesse Jackson, Martin Luther King, Jeremiah Wright, and Al Sharpton are fucking worthless, stinking alley niggers of the lowest order. I get sick as shit of the way whites are routinely discriminated against in this country. The fucking spics are just as bad, worse actually, than the blacks. They come over here and murder and steal from this country and make fucking demands of the citizens here. All a spic knows how to do is steal and fuck. That’s it. Steal and fuck. And Tarbaby can’t fucking wait to legalize all of them so that he gets their votes to provide support for his Socialist agenda. Entitlements have pissed this society down the drain.”

Go to the above link and you will note that SmokeyQuinn has deleted this from his blog shortly after I outed him on ZH well over a year ago.  The record of this is archived here on ZH.

'SmokeyQuinn you are a worthless coward. Your posts and your later actions were chosen by you. It was your choice to abandon open truth like a chicken-shit cur that you are and to post like a sissy under an alias on ZH.'

La vérité l'emporte toujours.
