Fukushima Radiation Highest Ever, Exceeding Capacity of Measuring Device ... Fuel Likely Leaking Out Of Containment Vessel

By Washington’s Blog

Things are - literally - heating up again at Fukushima:

In related news from Japan:

But Reuters notes that the world's most hazardous nuclear plant in terms of worker radiation exposure is in the U.S., not Japan. This Reuters graphic ranks the world's 5 most hazardous plants (Fukushima is only the 5th most hazardous):

Other U.S. nuclear updates include:

One piece of good news. The river level outside the Fort Calhoun nuclear plant has dropped to 1006 feet, well below the critical 1014 foot danger level:

Well at least someone else is reading www.enenews.com

The other good blog keeping information flowing about Fukushima is ex-skf.blogspt.com

This disaster is far from over.

www.enenews.com  and ex-skf.blogspt.com are both GREAT sites on the nuclear situation.

BTW, what does "skf" stand for?

someone said that einstein remarked one time, that nuclear power was a hell of a way to heat water. if he said this, then i must say, in implying that nuclear power was a stupid way of making energy , then he was correct. they opened up that nuclear bottle and the genie got out and now it is impossible to get that genie back in the bottle. foolish men, who cared nothing about humanity pushed this insanity. fools they were and fools we were for going along with it.

containment domes won't work either.  they had torrential rains over there last week, i believe. can you imagine what that did?   imagine all of the radioactive materials that got washed into the ocean etc.........the whole thing is a disaster and there is almost nothing that can be done about it, since workers cannot live long ,being around that stuff. and now the stupid leadership is looking the other way while damaged meats and other commodiites are sold here and there throughout japan , as if nothing is wrong with it, not to mention the fish products that still to this day are still consumed by japanese over there. the government is encouraging a blindness in that land, a blindness in the japanese people who like so many sheep in other countries blindly go along just to get along and believe every word out of their government without questioning it. it is a castrophe of epic proportions and this will never go away in the history of the world. never.  as i said at the first when this thing first started. japan is doomed. my timing was off a bit because i did not stop to realize the perfidy of japanese leaders, who are working, so it seems , to destroy their own people. strange stuff in japan. and yet the radioactive car parts are not streaming into the us of a and we also look the other way and pretend this situation is just about over but it is not over and never will be over. the japanese were fools getting involved in nuclear power. fools. and now , they pay the price. and believe me, fukushima is not the only problem they are having over there. there are other problematic reactors there as well, and this situation is on going.

I agree completely that "the government is encouraging a blindness in that land" and it appears to me that Japan is doomed as well.  However, I'm not so sure that the Japanese government's deception of the public isn't their best alternative.  I mean, what are they supposed to do?  Hold a press conference and clearly tell the public that cancer rates are going to skyrocket over the next few decades?  Tell the rest of the world that their exports are now contaminated so they might want to think about buying products elsewhere?  Yes, it's unforgivable that children are still going to schools in dangerous high radiation zones and that the Japanese government is trying to avoid paying for the relocation costs of hundreds of thousands.  At the same time, since this is a horrible situation that humans are powerless to fix now that it's happened, I don't necessarily blame the Japanese and Tepco officials for their policy of staying tight-lipped.  As far as blame goes, nuclear power is too powerful for us stupid humans to mess around with and I would cheer Tepco heads rolling (literally!) for building reactors on the ring of fire.  I blame the Japanese officials for not doing more to (quietly) move more people to safety and for not moving towards shutting down the rest of Japan's reactors, but as for their policy of interfacing with the public, I can't say that I blame them for a policy that staves off the panic and economic collapse that would inevitably ensue if the truth of the situation were to be told.  It's not like there's a vacant island chain waiting for everyone to evacuate to.  This situation is so messed up and there are no good solutions, which is why mankind needs to abandon nuclear energy now . . .

No one mentions what the Japanese gov is doing or is planning to do about these new developments.

In fact, there is very little coverage of any progress dealing with the whole situation.

Have they decided on an overall course of action? Are they going to entomb the plant like Chernobyl?

What actions are being taken by the U.S. to prevent radiation from further contaminating the West Coast?

There are so many questions and no one seems to be offering any answers.

There is no news coverage of any plans or progress because there are no plans or progress to cover.

The head zip-a-dweeb who quit (shoulda done a sepaku on prime time I tell ya, the ratings woulda been off the charts, just like the radhurtz readings my man) said all was taken care of, A-OK, hunkie dorie, super duper, good stuff like milk and honey, in the money, so so funny, goin' my way, hey hey hey, yowza, just absolutely fine and if you bring the topic up one more time, gonna go fucking medevial on your ass with some real pipemashin' bad mojo short fingered motherfuckin' Yakuza.

There was a massive PR push from the nuclear industry to sweep this story under the rug right from the start. As long as all the deaths are in the "plausably deniable" future it will stay that way.

Media stars are a cross breed between foxy news men and climate change deniers. They mix their metaphors, botch their graphics and bribe their sources. That way when a Media stars reports says... 'he was having sex with a hooker in capt. Cook bay'...it needs to be translated and reedited like this /  'He caught a whopper shark in New Zealand when looking for his wife in the sea-side pole dancing bar'.

If you survive a six egg omelette there you'll survive anything. Including having sex with the Wife of the guy whose the best paid goffer in the world. She is ready to punish any man she can get her nails into. So stay afloat, don't let her bump n hump you hook line n sinker into ouch-douche land. Vilnius is a good place to be vilainous. The blonds there are deadly especially in the sauna.

I like this global sovereign-man scenario. It smells of hype, like all packaged scenarios.

you have no sense of humor, but I'll humor it. Not a misogynist, just a witness to the man-woman divide in uber USA, where everything about private life is up for media grabs and both parties sadly feed off it. And walk away with mega big bucks!

Media makes the world go round and all who participate in it look like clowns. That's what i meant. Men and women of fame and name.

I take the mickey out of those japanese shills who shrill that it's all OK in Fuku. My omelette is not in bad taste according to my book. But I'll let you off the hook. So go cook elsewhere.

That video of the emergency director getting grilled by Fukashima residents made me want to cry.

Same here in AZ. We've had some impressive spikes in background in open air (especially on 5/14), but nothing that's lasting, and my car air filter has been negative for radiation for the entire event. The spikes trended up in the first half of June, but have since disappeared.
