The Long Conversation
The Long Conversation
By
Cognitive Dissonance
It was during my preparation for the Roman Catholic Church’s rite of passage called Confirmation, the point where I commit to the present insanity because I have supposedly reached the age of consent, when I learned I had just blasphemed. This was a terrible state of affairs according to the nun who was presiding over my religious indoctrination. Back then, while the Priest may have been the anointed one and thus the public face of local parish power, the nuns ruled the roost and thus administered the religious training as well as its mind control counterpart, corporal punishment. As the sister repeatedly slammed her heavy wooden ruler down on my knuckles, and the back of my hands quickly turned red and swollen in protest of another round of religious abuse, aside from the sharp pain what I really felt was deeply confused. What had I done to deserve another beating, aside from asking Sister Elizabeth a few innocent questions? As the other boy slaves watched in horror and fascination (the girls received their own special instruction two doors down) it would be nearly a decade before I fully recognized that logic and free thinking is the enemy of social conditioning and religious indoctrination. Well north of forty years later I can still feel the psychological sting of that abuse as I revisit the incident in my mind and once again color outside society’s line. Pavlov would be proud to see that my conditioned response had been beaten so deep. But it’s not the individual beatings that have so much of an effect, but rather the cumulative piling on that reaches such depth. And therein lay the secret of their total control, for there appears nowhere to hide to escape the raining of their blows. This is their best and most effective lie. But it is still a lie nonetheless.
It was an innocent question really, and a tribute to its power and destabilizing logic that Sister Elizabeth turned bright red and immediately reached for her punishing stick. In my defense it was during that same week in American History class, the location where the state administered its own form of mind control and corporal punishment, where I learned how those filthy dirt-worshiping Indians (Sister Elizabeth’s words, not mine) honored dozens, even hundreds, of holy spirits. All I wanted to know was why we only had one. It seemed to me that we were getting the short end of the stick, the phrase my father liked to use when he applied his own punishing stick.

The Punishing Sticks
Can you hear them way off in the distance talking among themselves, the voices of the great spirits past, present and future, all speaking as one? I most certainly can and to be perfectly honest I always could. I just didn’t understand what it was I was listening to since the ability to decipher them had nearly been driven out of me ages ago. So I ignored them for as long as I could until finally I could no longer.
Once you let them in there is no turning back, and we all understand this as irrefutable fact. Once it is recognized, we can no longer deny our inner knowing. The voices might be faint and even a bit blurred, but still very understandable to those who care to listen. Or dare I say it, even to confer. In fact if you put your ear to the wind, close your eyes and settle your mind, you can hear them whispering to each other while beckoning us to rejoin them in our collective Long Conversation.
The thing about our shared insanity, the only honest way to properly describe the state of current affairs, is that the insanity will always insist it alone is perfectly sane and anything that tries to refute its supremacy is declared crazy and immediately purged. So it is not at all surprising that the dominate culture, the product of centuries of Delirium tremens, would beat its slaves to death and treat its enemies even worse rather than tolerate questions, let alone dissention. But there is real madness to the abusive methods the (religious) Empire employs, because what is really driven from us is our own innate and natural connection to The Long Conversation.
It really wasn’t my question that raised the hackles of old Sister Elizabeth, but rather the unspoken inquisition that sprang from the mouth of babes. Why was the Holy Spirit advocating death and destruction to those who did not embrace the one and only ‘God’, while the Native American Indians loved and honored Heaven and Earth and all its glorious creations? Why was the culture of insanity taking its marching orders from a holy homicidal maniac, while the filthy dirt-worshiping natives lived in relative peace and harmony and always tried to give back at least as much as they took?
These are ugly ego striping questions that could quickly destabilize an imperial empire and its enabling religion if they were ever allowed to fester, thus the reason for the liberal use of the ruler or rifle along with the threat of hell on Earth and eternal damnation.
See, it works like this. If we are to believe that we are not worthy, then we will allow ourselves to be judged not worthy, followed quickly by the willing surrender of our inner power to an external ‘authority’ who has been deemed supremely worthy by imperial or religious edict. But if we are to believe we are connected to everything and thus we as worthy as the mighty Oak or the industrious dung beetle, and certainly more worthy than any false external ‘authority’, there is no reason to surrender and thus we are uncontrollable. This is blasphemy pure and simple!

The Mighty Oak
By the time I reached walking away age and began my own search for meaning and connection, all that was left in my neck of the woods was cookie cutter religious doctrine and a brain washed state of artificially numbed elation. And this was well before the full impact of the drug called televised instant gratification had subdued and suborned a great nation.
Or at least that was what I had been told we were; a nation proud of its genocidal westward expansion that had now gone global. Convert those Godless heathens to the temple of self absorbed consumer consumption ecstasy or wipe them from the face of God’s little green Earth, ironically the very same little green Earth so loved by those Godless heathens.
For the dozens of now vanquished indigenous cultures, whose love and respect for all things nurturing and sustaining was a way of life, even this love of life wasn’t what terrified the war mongering nation(s). No, what really threatened the insanity was the revered and cherished internal communication the natives had with their spiritual forefathers, as well as those who would follow in their footsteps.
What could, would and still will topple the insanity was their Long Conversation, their spiritual connection that solidly anchored them to their own sanity. This was what condemned the millions of natives to their own eradication. If you can’t corrupt them by driving their sanity out, then just kill them all and be done with it.
If we are sane, we simply cannot destroy what we deeply love and respect. Nor can we destroy or even demean what we wish to pass to our children, concepts that would most definitely destroy the insanity if they were ever widely embraced. The holy madness needed divine justification in order to take by force all that it surveyed, and so anyone or anything that refuted insanity’s marching orders was labeled a blasphemy and a heretic, then promptly cut down past its roots, shock and awe scorched Earth style.
Nothing, and I mean nothing, can be allowed to get in the way of the endless territorial expansion and locust like consumption of the mindlessly mad machine. Nothing will be allowed to resist the modern global Ponzi, especially a social and spiritual consciousness that speaks from the past and future to warn the present of the dangers of hubris, ego and homicidal insanity. This was and still is why The Long Conversation must be silenced. God forbid we actually listen to the only sane voices left, those found within our very own spiritual head.

Social conditioning tells us to ignore our inner knowing and accept the false external authority.
Of all the various forms of mind control witchcraft practiced by the unholy church/state alliance, by far the most destructive is the hijacking and subversion of our own spoken language. Simply put, just as we are what we eat, so do we think as we speak. So rather than removing ideologically unhealthy words from the spoken language and leaving a gap that would be noticed, all that needs to be done is to subvert or convert the true meaning. And before we know it we have spiritually lost people extolling the virtues of the National Security Endless War and Ponzi State.
Trapped in an ideological hell by our very own language the few remaining free thinking deeply connected souls are forced to use the very vocabulary that enslaves us to wake us from our deep slumber. In effect we must use the very words that control us to free us, a nearly impossible task given the high hurdles we must overcome. Short of creating a new language, then widely distributing it via a hostile press and MSM, the only effective solution is for the population to reconnect to The Long Conversation.
Our powerful and supreme inner knowing has been carefully hidden from us for centuries, millennium even, primarily by diluted and dulled milquetoast words such as gut feeling, instinct, sixth sense or even faith and belief. Let us call it what it is, an inner knowing that squarely places the responsibility back upon our shoulders to right our own floundering ship. But even this is too great for our inflated and flattered egos to bear, so we eagerly grasp for the deflecting lie that it is all someone else’s mess to repair.
Of all the horrors perpetrated upon us by the machine and its sycophant henchmen, maybe the most frightening one of them all is the very instrument of our salvation, of our freedom, the one tool we can always access and is totally out of bounds to the insanity. I am of course speaking about freedom of choice, our unquestioned and unalienable right to become sane again, to break free from the madness machine and reclaim our own spiritual, emotional and ultimately physical sovereignty.
The seductive embrace of our collective insanity promises us all a softer easier way, an alternative path where we are told we can have our cake and eat it too. This is a bald faced lie, even if the machine consistently produces more cake as if by magic. It is a lie because that cake is not free, but instead derived from the sweat and tears of a less fortunate fellow slave caught up in the crushing gears of the grinding machine. Our Long Conversation with our inner knowing tells us this is a lie, that the lies of the insanity are self evident and thus brightly colored to enable us to abandon ourselves to the pleasure of the distraction. Let someone else pick up the tab. But soon enough it will be you and me who pays the freight.
If you understand what I am talking about with regard to The Long Conversation, about the whispering voices anchoring us to our own sanity, then we might even say that these spirits will do more than just whisper. If nothing else it is a comforting thought, that a power greater than us, that our power has our back. It is precisely this thought that helps keep us sane. When we are connected to others, when we acknowledge that our actions affect more than just us, then and only then are we more likely to act sanely as we all share responsibility for the group as well as the individual.

Right...the tribes in NA and SA were CONSTANTLY at war with each other. They just lacked the technological know how to consolidate and strike out. You should really read your history before making statements that have no basis in fact. When the Europeans showed up the Natives were fighting each other, and had been for a long time. It's just a delusion people hold on to of a "better life". Might as well believe in angels, fairies, honest politicians, and kind hearted bankers.
Exactly, Hate the winners. It was ok for the Mohegans to cross a river beat and subjugate their neighboring tribe but because we are a different race and crossed an ocean we are evil. What drivel.
Would those history books be the one's written by the so-called "winners"? Because if you read some of the alternative history books (meaning non mainstream Empire approved) including some written by Native Americans, we get a much different story.
Those books don't count. And don't you see, the Aztecs had a unique culture that practiced human sacrifice so all Native People were blood thirsty, Christian killing vampires. It was only a matter of time before the thousands of tribes were enslaved by the Aztecs, built nuclear bombs and killed all of Europe. The whites had no choice! Of course the same history could be told of Africa, South America or Asia.
You made a huge debate mistake. You claimed a universal truth about a group of peoples. Now since I;'m not stupid I know that is wrong, so I call you on it. You destroy your own argument and go down in flames. Trying to defend mass murder is a tough one, and I wouldn't make it the center piece of my argument. And as to the Aztecs not seeking domination that's not what the history says. unless you claim it was peaceful expansion and their neighbors willingly gave up their young men for the knife, which is not in the historical record. Now you are trying to spin off that the Aztecs were a special case. they weren't. The truth is the Natives of NA and SA were MEN. And like all men they seek to dominate each other. Next will you tell me that Asia and Africa had no history of evil before the Europeans showed up. I'm a fan of Chinese history and would love to hear you spin that :) Oh and I'll lead of with this one, the Han's treatment of the Hmong, or was that a secret Euro plot? Now Why are the Euros evil anyway, and no other races of men are? Is it the color of their skin? Perhaps the pale skin only allows a black heart :)
Eurpeans and the term 'whites' is interchangable to me.
I never claimed the Chinese or any other people were perfect until the Europeans showed up. I was talking about indigenous populations of Asia, Africa, North and South America and Australia. For whatever reason civilization, based upon agriculture (which led to nation-states and monotheistic religion) has been especially cruel to those on the outside of their civilization. It is mind blowing to me that you can or try to dispute this fact. Also my post above was tongue in check and through the lens of your line of thought.
Uh, aren't the Han and the Hmong indigenous to Asia? So answer my question. That issue happened well before the evil whites showed up. And Seems to me that Africa had a history of slavery before them damn whites showed up. Or was that 'love' = slavery, like the Aztec 'love' = murder? Now you are saying they are not perfect, so did whitey somehow infect in the way back them since your whole argument has been anti whites.
And I can't help but notice there is no listing of indigenous peoples of Europe as having a "clean" culture. So it is the white man is inherently evil and will spawn an evil culture, or did the white man come from beyond the stars to taint this world? Hell at this point I'm half expecting you to bring in Scientology and Theatans into the argument. Really you should back up your arguments with something (even Scientology would give me something), like showing me not atrocities in those indigenous cultures or prove that Whitey somehow put his evil in them. And really want to hear how nature made the Whites the focal point of evil, and yet you label me the racist.
Or you could concede that all human basically act this way. You call me the racist, but my whole claim is humans act like humans. Just so happens the the Euros got a leg up in technology. Which has been my point all along, or slink away back to some other web page. Whatever.
I simply point to facts that are known. Do you dispute that facts the natives often fought and allied with the Euros against each other? This is not in dispute in any historical way. Do you dispute the practices of the Aztecs, which again are not in dispute in any real way. You are looking for something that has never existed. Man has been man for thousands of years, no better no worse. The color of their skin does not magically make them better. Gentically they are an offshoot of Mongolians, and I doubt that you would claim that Asia was a bastion of love and peace. Oh and it's the idea that ancient man was better there has been a fair amount of evidence of wars and conflicts in the stone age. You weaken your argument pointing to a fantasy land which never existed.
Alright already.
good to see a veteran out and about :-)
You mean the history told by the native "winners".
I suggest you read your history, namely what the majority of these 'wars' were like. Nothing is 100% and there are exceptions, but most wars were not what we in the west call total war. The desire was not about the total destruction of other people. Enjoy your time with misinformation and living in the matrix.
So tell me is all that is written about the Aztecs a lie? Would you like to provide a citation? I could dig up others, but why did the Natives ally with the Euros against other natives? Are you claiming that did not happen? These are commonly accepted facts on all sides, if we can make up our own facts then I suppose any history is possible. In that case I'm descended from a race of God Kings from Yuggoth, and I can back that up with imaginary facts as well.
FACT - Aztecs conducted a lot of human sacrifices in the name of their god.
FACT - Aztecs did not dominate or attempt to enslave entire peoples.
FACT - Europeans did.
FACT - North America contained thousands of unique tribes, mindsets and people
FACT - Europe at one time did too, but it was dominated into a singular culture
FACT - The Europeans then spread this mindset of domination throughout the world
FACT - The destruction of native or indigenous populations occurs to this day. Anything beyond European mindset, civilization and religion is viewed as evil and must either be destroyed or brought into the fold. Life is not tolerated outside of the capitalistic, genocidal system.
"FACT - The Europeans spread this mindset of domination throughout the world"
Wrong. According to the archeological record, The spirit of racism, self-superiority, and rational justification for murder/genocide seems to have originated with the Sumerians.
So too, apparently, did the emergence of greed within the human psyche.
Coincidence?
Nothing like a little farming surplus.
You sir are mis informed.
"The Noble Savage idea is no more real then the Easter Bunny or a stable fiat money." I have to agree with this.
Wants and desires are many. Needs are but few. The guilt/punishment your screed describes
weighs heavy on those souls unable to bury the moral past. Digital intrusion these days make
matters more hopeless. Art and literature from base to elite levels speak to this and sometimes
hit the mark:
Hmm perhaps I have escaped then because I do not think in words, but rather concepts. Words and languages I see as merely a medium. Thanks for reminding me of the power words have on our world-view CD. :)
Interesting piece CD. Learning to listen to that inner voice after the same sort of background (protestant though) was a great awakening for me. I normally would have dismissed this sort of article as psychobabble but for the one experience that left me with an indelible impression. Without going into details I was in the midst of making one of those decisions that are life changing and when I concluded that yes, I would do this thing I had an immediate and almost audible voice in me head that said--"You'll be sorry". It was spooky, but I passed it off as just nervous apprehension because I knew what I wanted, and I was going to do it anyway, never mind the instinctive response. Long story short, I did indeed come to regret my decision greatly. And I do mean greatly. The result was a knowledge that did not exist before that my internal awareness could be a great help if I would just let it balance my reason. I learned a lesson the hard way, but now when that "voice" tells me to go slow because danger lurks, I do give it pause for thought. Learning to trust oneself is a hard thing to do after a "proper" upbringing, no?
Thanks CD, you always present a 'good read' for me.
The following was my chief take away-
"that cake is not free, but instead derived from the sweat and tears of a less fortunate fellow slave caught up in the crushing gears of the grinding machine."
Thank you kind DM.
Take what you need and leave the rest seems to work for me.
It's been working for me for the last 20 years that I've trudged the road of happy destiny.
Different time, same road my friend.
Heh. This is why one had to become a man-eating tiger, and the other become a fire-throwing angel-mech; modern heathens, they are required to think differently.
Breaking the chains -- not easy to do. Dangerous business that, digging around in the halls of the mind. You might wake something that you didn't know was sleeping there. But that's what makes the ghost story so interesting. Isn't it.
The edge of the edges is edging near. The middle will not hold, this time around. Someday soon the map of the true world will be all slanting sides and sharp angles and teeth and knives and we will yearn for Lethe for beyond here be monsters.
Well that was a fun read...
I wonder what's happening on Jersey Shore? /sarc
Nice article CD-
We discuss the great lie, but the process of indoctrination seems more to me to be the process of closing a child's wide open mind- to scar their capacity for true spiritual and intellectual development; so that they dare not exceed the wisdom of their elders...
Closed mindedness is the largest impediment I see to thriving in the real world; and the whole premise of cognitive dissonance stems from the experiences of very real events that reveal themselves to us from outside the framework of our close-mindedness, leaving us only the options of either:
1) ignoring these events because they fail to fit within our own prejudices and biases, or
2) risking ourselves to be deemed mentally ill by accepting the possibility that they were/are reality.
After watching the 5 hour "Ring of Power", it struck me that even though the thesis of the documentary was "way out there" - I determined that there was no real threat to me by being open minded to the possibility that Abraham and Moses might have been Eqyptian Pharoahs... after all, the Producer of the video presents compelling historical parallels and commonalities...
RR, if you got netflix streaming, you may enjoy the Legacy documentary series, specifically the 1st episode "Iraq - Cradle of Civilization". not only talks about how Abraham may have migrated from Sumer (now Iraq) after the downfall, but also goes back to the Garden of Eden, etc.
what was really interesting to me was how Sumer fell in the first place after a long period of prosperity -- the rape of the land due to monoculture agriculture leading to inflation leading to economic collapse. hmmmmmm...... and as we know now, that land has never recovered its fertility 5,000 years later.
also on nflix, The Pyramid Code - episode 4 -- The Empowered Human.
both nice companion videos to this essay.
I'm not sure about Abraham, but Moses was almost certainly a Pharaoh. He was adopted by the daughter of the Pharaoh, and his timeline in Egypt coincides with the temporary religion change.
Now SHE is just making shit up!
NOW I get it. No way we could ever agree on what is at the top of the control structure.
There was a specific reason I started off this piece in this particular manner PA. I expected you would pick up on it immediately.
"It is thus seen that the powerful and unusual stimuli arising from the flood increased the susceptibility of the cortical elements to inhibition to so great an extent that even a comparatively minute intensification of inhibition from the outside, in the form of a conditioned inhibitory stimulus, rendered impossible for a long time any existence of positive conditioned reflexes under ordinary experimental conditions."
"CONDITIONED REFLEXES: AN INVESTIGATION OF THE
PHYSIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY OF THE CEREBRAL CORTEX"-By Ivan P. Pavlov (1927)
In 1924, a flood swept through the lab housing the animals that Pavlov used for his experiments. The resulting change was so drastic and wide scale that many of the animals lost their conditioning entirely, and those that gained it back only did so after intensive intervention on the part of the scientists. It gives hope to some of us animals that given the right sized “flood”, we too may lose our conditioning. Thank you for being the rain CD!
Crepuscular rays ftw.
Ahhhemmmm... CD, do you really have to use ZH to work out your childhood trauma?
Rulers on bare knuckles indeed! Wouldnt surprise me if next thing we hear about are horrific flashbacks to bed-wetting episodes....
Apart from that, it wasnt a bad piece ;)
My bed wetting is between me and my Depends and none of your business.
Oh, you mean my bed wetting as a child. Sorry, my bad. :)
Hah!
Oh, not just any nun, but one from the Dominican Order.
Darn you - now my knucles hurt in empathy.
Pete
You lost me with the nobel savage bullshit.
I'm with you Moe
No-one does savagery quite as good as the Jews and Christiians. I just love the part where they eat the complaining womans son first... how about you?
26Now as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, a woman cried out to him, saying, "Help, my lord, O king!"
27And he said, "If the LORD will not help you, whence shall I help you? From the threshing floor, or from the wine press?"
28And the king asked her, "What is your trouble?" She answered, "This woman said to me, 'Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.'
29So we boiled my son, and ate him. And on the next day I said to her, 'Give your son, that we may eat him'; but she has hidden her son." (2 Kings 6:26-29)
Thank goodness the holy book has been out in publication for so long... today they'd likely consider it full of hate speech or something silly... damn those liberals to hell!
Did you like the part that says if the Lord won't help her why should he? That's got you, me, and Conservatism written all over it!
Read all of Derrick Jensen's books. You'll love them!
"relative peace and harmony?" I see you've been thoroughly indoctrinated by the liberal mainstream media.
Native Americans had their own problems since they were after all just people too. Famine, disease, starvation, wars of conquest? They had all those long before Europeans showed up.
The Earth is indeed not Flat.
We do not need to continuously and endlessly repeat failed patterns of behavior just because they have historic precedent. Historic precedent is often cited as the justification for an action, but what people are trying to argue is not that it did not happen before, but that it should not happen again. Now, if you can stop referencing the timeline, why should it happen again and why should it not happen again?
Human Nature is not Cultural Conditioning. Myth structures were based on available knowledge and understanding, leading to institutions with limited capabilities. Historical belief that mysterious events could be attributed to natural events and required sacrifice to ensure your own survival were false understandings.
Then it makes no fucking sense to rely on their actions and use them as justification for future actions. Unless you're ok with me coming over with a group of historical figures and grabbing your ass for the next sacrifice I have planned, to appease the war and poverty god, so we can put an end to this misery / madness. Are you ready?
" Famine, disease, starvation, wars of conquest?"
These are all inescapable attributes of the REAL world ruled by the laws of nature. They can be ignored, but only the last can be willingly denied.
If we eliminate disease, and if we succeed at abolishing war, then soon we will eliminate all required resources, and we most assuredly will starve.
Sigh....... Show me the North or South American people who attempted to overtake all others and dominate the continent. Waiting.
Aztecs. Do your damn homework. Or do you attest that those were love killings? I mean sure cutting people up for their God must be cool because it was done in love right? They are no better than any other group around the world, they were just more technologically backward so easier for a more technologically advanced group to roll over them.
Oh and as a follow up if you knew anything about history you would know that the Natives would often ally with the "White Man" against other tribes because they hated the other tribes more than Whitey, but I suppose cracking open a history book is harder then just listening to PC drivel.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Ouch, I just heard a whip crack.
Thanks Shameful for reminding us all (again) that reality sucks.
The Aztecs did not seek domination and the destruction of everyone else. There is no denying that they conducted a large amount of human sacrifice, yet those that participated were mostly happy to do so. I am not saying nor have I said that the indigenous populations of North America were perfect, but what they were is human and free. Something European civilzation has never liked and has sought to end. European civilization also could not and cannot stand people who live differently then what they consider normal. Any simple reading can show you from the quotes on how 'we' viewed 'primitive' civilizations. You just want to believe that Indians would've killed all other cultures, had they simply had the means to do so. That is the heart of forgiving genocide and a subconciously racist view.
