The Markets Just Called the Central Banks' Bluff
If anyone thinks that the world’s central banks can somehow solve the Crisis, they need to consider the following news story:
Dollar Funding Costs Rise As Central Banks' Plan Seen Inadequate
European banks are finding dollars an expensive commodity once again, as the afterglow fades from a coordinated central bank plan to improve liquidity.
Swapping euros for dollars now costs about as much as it did before the European Central Bank said Thursday it would work with counterparts in the U.S., Europe and Japan to provide dollars for banks struggling to access U.S. currency. The three-month ...
http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20110919-708511.html
The ECB, Fed, Bank of Japan, Bank of England, and Bank of Switzerland staged a coordinated intervention only last week. Already the net benefit of their moves has been erased for the very institutions they were trying to help.
And while the S&P 500 is up 2%...

Belgian Bank and French banks have wiped out ALL of their intervention gains:

The same goes for German banks:

Folks, if a coordinated intervention on the part of FIVE central banks can’t even give us one week of gains in the European banks… nor lower the cost of Dollar swaps… then we’re in the absolute END GAME for central bank intervention.
Remember, this was not just a single money pump from the Fed. This was FIVE central banks working together. And they couldn’t even paper over the European banking system’s problems for ONE WEEK.
The mainstream financial media is out claiming that the reason we’ve already undone the gains produced by the intervention was because the central banks didn’t do enough. It’s interesting that having spent more money than WWI WWII and the New Deal combined central banks are still thought to not be doing enough. Never does anyone ask… “maybe the central banks can’t fix this mess?”
Let’s be blunt here. The Fed and pals just pasted a HUGE multi-trillion dollar band-aid over the system in 2008. They didn’t fix anything. The fact they’re now losing control of the system again and we’re fast approaching the next “Lehman” event should be proof positive that central banks have NO idea how to get us out of this mess.
I fully believe we could be on the verge of another 2008 episode. It’s clear Europe’s banking system is staring into the abyss. The US is not far behind either.
So if you have yet to prepare yourself for what’s coming, my Surviving a Crisis Four Times Worse Than 2008 report can show you how to turn the unfolding disaster into a time of gains and profits for any investor.
Within its nine pages I explain precisely how the Second Round of the Crisis will unfold, where it will hit hardest, and the best means of profiting from it (the very investments my clients used to make triple digit returns in 2008).

Right now, the central banks are holding a losing hand, yet they still demand that nations ante up with their gold reserves, while they put worthless paper on the table. You can't meet your expenses with cut up newsprint, but that is effectively what they do. One of the requirements for a binding agreement is equity. That requirement is not being met. The central banks are in breach of contract.
http://georgesblogforum.wordpress.com/2011/07/19/unnatural-law-fiat-currency-vs-real-money/
we are heading to where the mafias want us to go , no one can escape
a gold backed dollar just makes the collapse of the US happen faster as nations which are owed by the US will demand gold instead of dollars. if the dollar is pegged to $5k gold, it leaves faster. if the dollar is pegged to $50k gold, it leaves slower, but leave it will.
which is why we left the gold standard in 1971 in the first place.
Why did all of the Gold not leave the United States then between the years 1900 and 1933 then? The key word is confidence and that is something a tangible asset is supposed to inspire in bond and currency holders. The United States did not leave the Gold standard in 1971 beacause of this, they left it because Nixon and Johsnon CHOSE to bankrupt the country in Vietnam. Americans (and Canadians, UK, Australia) failed to heed this warning and now choose to bankrupt their countries in Afghanistan instead...
The fact they're now in virtual total control of the system again and we're fast approaching the next "don't waste a crisis crisis" should be proof positive that central banks have hidden the fact that they've created this mess to send the middle class into permanent debt feudalism.
There, fixed it for ya.
A currency-to-rule-them-all is what they're after.
One currency to rule them all? Possible.
You could take it slow at first. Perhaps take a group of countries located near each other and make them all use one currency. Then, when that's shown to work, you'll attract more countries to the club.
If you got enough countries in a particular continent to agree to it, you could name the currency after the continent - something like the Americano (although that would get really confusing in Starbucks). Maybe the Africana, although getting those countries to work together would be impossible. You'd need a proof of concept first. Try the Antarctico first. When that's been shown as a success for 15 or maybe 18 hundred years, people might catch on to it as being a good idea.
They can and will solve the crisis -- by creating a gold backed dollar once again. This has been their aim for years.
It is a rather rudimentary supposition that Bernanke has thwarted the best possible guidance of Western financial personalities, and has chosen to his personal satisfaction an outcome of hyperinflation. Yes, hyperinflation will inevitably result, but it will not be a prolonged Zimbabwe-like episode – and the more curious fact remains – it was unavoidable. To remove the ambiguity from this statement, it is expedient to frame the state of Western aggregates as issues of security policy parallel to a monitor addressing domestic conditions.
Bernanke, contrary to popular belief, has very little control over Federal Reserve policy; and when one understands the political coercion taking place to ensure against deviation from certain guidelines, this notion becomes more plausible. There is an involved explanation that disposes of this seemingly fallacious statement, but it requires years of both military and foreign security training to grasp.
To shorten the explanation, the following are constraints:
To elucidate a number of notions that may be foreign to those who haven’t had the opportunity to entertain these facts, I’ll digress at this point to provide for the thesis that Western policy shortfalls are meant to engender a thrust towards consolidation.
Hyperinflation is an unavoidable consequence of ensuring the identity of Western ideals given the prevalent socialist structures and the external economics imbalances at hand. The West cannot survive for any meaningful period of time as a set of socialist states colluding to promote democracy, first without ensuring its own sustenance. It must accelerate this cycle to purge imbalances and reduce barriers to consolidation – that it may reposition itself globally for continuity. This is understood by the security services and military, and thus democracy (socialism in disguise) is being systemically dismantled to ensure continuity. One must understand that the welfare state inevitably collapses upon itself either way due to carrying costs, and it cannot be reformed politically in the process for the reason that doing so would constitute an attack on the public veneer of democracy. The public cannot help themselves, for they do not have the expertise to hedge against global strategic threats.
In light of this, understand that the gold price suppression is not carried out against the citizenry, but has served as a critical strategic hallmark of this consolidation programme. As evidence, examine the decline in global central bank holdings into 2005. Many of the Western central banks have already been consolidated under a central, though admittedly non-public repository. The issuance of a gold linked SDR under this collective consolidation will provide the West with leverage against an otherwise overpowering, and inevitably oppressive Asian reserve unit that is in its pilot phase. To maintain global standing, it is essential to at least maintain a proportional share of control over the reserve currency.
Following a significant revaluation in the price of both monetary metals, gold in quantity will be made available to supplant Western Central Bank supplies in order to anchor currencies once again.
Deltafunctiontoronto,
You talk funny. I'm gonna to show your post to my bowling team so they think me real smart too.
Interesting trolling here.
The DOD rhetoric is a give-away. But you slipped up (in a very characteristic manner) by using the non-word"substituent".
What is useful in this almost-unreadable post is better presented elsewhere (in The Daily Bell, for instance).
To say:
"The Western world faces fundamental threats to its way of life, and may only preserve its institutions and common ideals over the next 5 decades if its substituents are assimilated as a union for operational purposes. " is another give-away. Makes imperial takeover sound warm and fuzzy.
The Western world's elites are already the fundamental threats to what was once "our way of life", its institutions are scerotic and bureaucratized well beyond any hope of reform, and Zero Hedge readers are by and large well aware of the "common ideals" that that elite holds. Bloviating generalities presented in pseudo-social-scientific jargon.
Have a nice day.
Deltafunctiontoronto
I'm so narcissistic and emotionally fragile that I'm going to write my own thesis and struggle to work in as many thesaurus laden words as I can. Further, I'll take the position that TPTB are doing what they are doing for our own good, on ZERO HEDGE, and they'll love me for it.
That was a joke, right?

The List Of Congressional Representatives Who Took Trips To Israel. Do They Represent You, Or Israel?
Voters need to tell these men and women you cannot serve two masters. You must either serve America or serve Israel and the New York and London banks. You cannot serve us and them. You might also ask them when will they get around to forcing the Attorney General to arrest and convict the bankers who stole tens of trillions of dollars from us.
The following is a List of congressional representatives by state who have taken trips to Israel paid for by AIEF (American Israel Education Foundation) and by other Zionist organizations. They are listed in District order not alphabetical order. I do not list trips paid for by groups who sent members to meet with Arabs and Israelis as part of a peace process. To include them would confuse the issue. I listed Darrell Issa even though his trip to Israel was paid for by Qatar. It was Qatar Special Forces who invaded Tripoli for the NATO war criminals.
This took a lot of effort which would have been made simpler if I could have afforded to pay a fee for the deluxe version from the website I was using as a source. I did note a few oddities. Keith Ellison, a Muslim, took a Zionist indoctrination tour to Israel. He should be ashamed to show up at his mosque. Henry Waxman and Eric Cantor had the most trips to Israel. A Mississippi congressman had the most expensive single trip. I am sure the Mossad has video tapes. The Republicans had more trips, but Democrats took more multiple trips. To be fair there are more Republicans in the House.
Hall of Shame.
These states sent every one of their congressmen to Israel. Rhode Island and West Virginia.
Special Honors to these states who sent no congressmen to Israel. Alaska, Delaware, Idaho, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont and Wyoming.
Note. I cited Vermont’s only congressman and one black congressman from Illinois but did not list them in their state totals. The black congressman visited Ethiopian Jews who were given land near that leaky nuclear reactor at Dimona. Israelis seem to be inherently racist.

Look... as muslim just killed another muslim who did not read the koran the right way...no wonder they feel nothing as they murder non-mulsims.
heart, your heart's in the right place but it would have more zing if you spelled israel correctly. the footnotes almost demand it.
If Vermont's 0 of 1 representative took a trip to Israel, why does it add up to $8,000?
And if the original architects of the "supreme world domination" plan are dead (which they are long gone), who are the beneficiaries?
Your tin foil hatband is too tight...
Yes, there are things going terribly wrong, and there is a group that is profiting. But it wasn't some "master plan" thought out 100 years ago. It's a small group of people smart enough, and wealthy enough, to capitalize on every situation, no matter which way it goes.
Didn't that used to be called.....Free Enterprise.....yeah, that dates me!
the problem is so large that most can't see it for what it is. global domination through infiltration and control of currency, media, medicine... all very simple and yet incredibly intricate. how could it be they say? people can't plan events over such long periods of time... and yet those with eyes to see sense a diabolical intelligence at work.
" global domination through infiltration and control of currency, media, medicine..."
Let's not forget food. Patented GMOs, Food Safety Modernization Act. Seed as currency.
But it does kind of amazes me that so many take trips to Israel.....
home of the...m.
Sorry. He's wrong this time. If you are willing to pay the price of massive inflation and riots, then yes, the central banks can "fix this" by printing more. it's clearly the wrong trade off, but don't be lulled into thinking that it doesn't matter what CBs do.
They will try again and again. You better have a bunch of your assets in gold.
I like the content, but the spammed "end cap" blurb for your subscription service is getting kinda old. Even Redgie changes his upa bit from time to time.
I like Graham. If you want free content, you must put up with the ads that pay for it. If the end cap blurbs are more consistent, then maybe you should consider that Graham makes them that way so you can skip over the parts you don't care about if you are already a subscriber or are not interested in being a subscriber. If the content is so vacuous that it isn't worth even that small effort, which Graham has made as easy as he can, then don't read his stuff.
This isn't some big MSM corporation that is exploiting you.
Short, short, short
Right, so that you will get your ass handed to you when QE-whatever is unleashed.
Fucking bankster sockuppet-troll.
You play with stocks or ETFs, you lose - it's as simple as that in the current game. The market is only there now to rob you.

Hi. Buy PM's, farmland, seeds, ammo, guns, engender close ties with your neighbors, water purification, and a shit load of MRE's to tied you over until the garden yields results.
There. Now you dont need the newsletter.
Skip the MREs I ate them for years, they are the ultimate butt plug.
I would rather live off canned beans and spam.
It's amazing how many people think MREs or freeze dried shite are the way you store food.
Do some research people, anything worth doing is worth doing right. And here's a hint, freeze dried is not right.
Thanks for the non information
yes - why is freeze dried not right
Numerous reasons including expense. If you are going to have to carry your food in a backpack then it might make sense. If you are storing it in your home, no.
The short story is to store foods you actually eat and practice inventory rotation. Allocate a space and fill it with the non-perishable foods you eat. Mark each package with the month/year you bought it. Eat the oldest first. Canned goods are the best they will keep a very long time, usually at least 5 years. Dry rice holds up pretty well. Dried beans often become inedible after a year or so. Other foods you might not want to get more than a year or so ahead.
i've been doing this since 2006 and it works well. I got this from a book whose title I cannot remember, sorry.
You mean coordinated MANIPULATION.
There...fixed it up for ya.
Graham i like your stuff for the most part...but
"I fully believe we could be on the verge of another 2008 episode"
Do you fully believe it? Or do you just think it 'could' happen? Can't have both....
The cost of financing did increase; this does not mean the "lateral hand-job" "failed". So far, so good. Europe will have to come up with some brave new functional ideas, (not holding my breath), but the all important mass psychology says; okay we feel better now.
I'm long printer lubricating oil.
The Inquirer http://www.theinquirer.net/ often used to call HP "Maker of expensive printer ink", so every time I see comments like this, I think buy HP. :>
I'm long Black Market.
I'm long "New Dollar," which will be introduced after QE4.
Also, moss. It's good for lining the walls of our caves. (which we all will soon be living in)
Within its nine pages he will explain exactly how the crisis will unfold---" If you believe this, you have a real problem. He doesn't know anymore about this than you do; and I can't predict the future, either.
@ IQ 145....Thanks for saving me the trouble. If anyone knew exactly how the future would unfold, they wouldn't have
to hustle 9 page reports, and that is obvious to even IQ 72.5
