More Police Brutality ... Protesters Win (For Now) ... Own a Piece of History

George Washington's picture

There was more NYPD police brutality against peaceful protesters - but the protesters won a round ... and get to stay in the park (for now)

To celebrate (the getting to stay part, not the beating part) and be a part of history (and as an investment - these bad boys are only going to appreciate in value when he becomes mega-famous), buy one of our very own Wiliam Banzai's buttons direct from the artist.

6238828974 5389387b60 b Brilliant Protest Art Banzai is too humble to toot his own horn, so I'm doing it for him.

Note: All proceeds from the sale of the buttons will go to a very worthy charit ...   directly into his pocket, to buy tequil ...   enable him to create even more works of genius.

OWS is like watching Pro Wrestling. It will lead to people being accustomed to seeing armed troops in the streets. When the leaders of the protest settle into comfortable positions in the corporate structure, will anyone be asking how they got there? If the Viet Nam era taught us anything, it is that we are watching another faction struggling to gain advantage in the corporate structure.

i don't think you can look backward to some event that happened before in order to forecast what will happen now or in the future. we are at the end of fiat and we are at the end of life as we know it now.  this time we live in now is like no other, and it will only get worse and unfortunately, this has never happened before and never will again.......its the end of the line..........

You sir, a racist, bigoted pig. I feel sorry for your parents, your childhood, your life.

But at least you are honest, frank and not ashamed of the nonsensical mindset you find yourself in. Unlike many of your WASP buddies who try to be different even while hiding behind the anonymity of the internet.

BTW, I should try to reach you as a human being even though you may well not believe in basic facts such as gravity, greenhouse gases, etc.: if you were not nuke so many areas of the world, the radiation fall out would affect the water cycle, the soil, the atmonsphere, etc. and humanity (you included but just barely I suppose) would be reduced to subsistence and diseased levels for decades if not centuries - even racist bigots can only eat and digest only so many things that grow out of planet earth's soil.

In my lifetime I have found the dollar a good way to pay for things that I cannot produce. I have also found that I can get by with a lot less than my neighbors seem to require.

Me too, Neilhorn, on the part about getting by with a lot less than my neighbors require.  I am just naturally frugal.  The conspicuous consumption years just stressed me out.  I was terrible at keeping up with the Jones.  An old mobile on land appealed to me more than a huge mansion because it was a much more frugal choice.

Honestly, I would like to find a way that I could be free of the machine.  Property taxes are the one thing that keeps me chained to money.  There's just no escaping the need for money right now because of property taxes.

How is the sytem corrupt?

The US system has been working the same since the beginning. US citizens are creatures of comfort. They admit situations when the situation grows uncomfortable to them, especially when the same situation was reported elsewhere but in times when the situation was profitable to US citizens.

How can she find a job? Simply by moving to China, Eastern Europe, India or Russia, locations where the IT jobs are destined to be placed.

She just has to comply with the consequences of the system her family has supported through the US era.

So the police should protect the rights of others to remain completley ignorant and not have to see another's opinion and should engage in some good ol fashioned fasict fun where we beat the crap out of protesters. It wasn't right when union thugs intimdated mostly older tea party protesters and what you propose is even more wrong cause it is state sanctioned. And GW is no communist. There are no communists here. Ay worst the site probably has some democrats who believe in free markets but believe in a saftey net.

In short, FU. But, I hope your head isnt bashed in. And, moreover, who is this all you speak of? I hate it when people speak for other people. And if you don't like this coment section, leave. N one is forcing you to read it. But, I suspect, in a society you ran, you would decide what gets read and doesn't. You're a tool. But, if people like you come to power, i take it back, your head won't be bashed in, it will be ... wait, that won't happen, cause you're a hate-illed loser who will die of the heart attack you created for your self as hate corrodes the container that holds it, it's like acid, which you took too much off, fag.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

There are many other causes.

Why would one go and protest when one might be rammed by a police officer on his scooter intentedly, collecting various charges in the process?

Avoiding danger zones is a possible and valid cause. Actually, considering the US taste for inequality, being a banker would be a trump card.

You need big defending assets when one rams you intentionnally and you can get charged for it.

People with no legal representation should not go there. They might be stripped of their civic rights, end a felon or in jail.

Way, way off topic, but since this particular blog seems to follow the Fukishima stuff closely... I noticed my home radiation monitor showed its highest readings ever two days ago (I hadn't checked in a while) and EPA's RadNet is showing noticable increases in high energy gamma readings on the west coast. Anyone heard anything? Something significant happen in Japan in the past week that would be stirring stuff up?

Fri, 10/14/2011 - 23:43 | 1776256 Fiat2Zero
Fiat2Zero's picture

I've noticed the same.  Readings were pretty low for awhile, but now have gone back up.  RadNet is worthless though, IMO - take a look at the radiation maps of Tokyo, and they'll show why the tiny RadNet presence is useless in mapping fallout (you need 2D and lots of sensors).

I'm inclined to think that occasionally a fire breaks out, which increases the particles we get, as well as their potency.  Also weather has a big effect.  Anytime I look in the sky and see lots of smog I get high readings.  Also, you'd be surprised how simple things concentrate the particles (closed dusty rooms, low-lying areas with train tracks sucking and concentrating the particles).  My Toyota Corrolla, parked for the day by the train tracks will have 3x readings before airing it out (the low lying area by the train tracks just attracts the particles).

Japan is a nightmare scenario.  There are more and more areas in and around Tokyo with very high readings.  I saw one area with close to evacuation readings.  enenews.com is great for picking up all the news just below the surface in Japan.  Tokyo will have to undergo extensive radiation cleanup on an ongoing basis.  It seems crazy but it might be eventually uninhabitable.

Also google "UC Berkeley Radiation" and look at the readings on milk.  Good to know the Cesium readings if you've got small kids.

The fact is there are 4 out of control reactions going on with 20 times the fuel from Chernobyl.  Several of the reactors have suffered a complete melt-out.  It will likely be decades before this burns itself out (or perhaps longer).

And the (news) silence is deafening.

AZ area here as well. The spike started and peaked 10/10, and was still present but fading 10/12, and everything back to normal 10/13. Nothing huge, just a few percent higher than background but definitely above the noise level. Radnet seems to show the same thing.

sir, that has been going on now for a long time ...............that is the gift from fukushima that keeps on giving. nobody in the government is saying much about it. but what you are measuring i am sure is very dangerous and very unhealthy but our government pretends nothing is happening. they are measuring many times background radiation in st louis i know. who knows on the west coast. most sheep are not paying much attention ........

West Coast has been climbing again lately.  SF Bay Area readings are in the .12-.15 MicroSvs/hour.  A normal reading is in the 0.05-0.09.  "Dirty" areas get up to .20, and I see occasional spikes (1 or 2 per month, of 30 second duration) of up to .35.

Radiation was "low" during the beginning of the tropical storm season.

Two weeks ago I measured three times the background radiation after it rained, no big deal right?  In Houston.  Most of our moisture comes from the gulf, but I guess we got a cold patch from the northwest.  I'll measure again and post the next rainout, or maybe just check the pools.
