More Police Brutality ... Protesters Win (For Now) ... Own a Piece of History

George Washington's picture

There was more NYPD police brutality against peaceful protesters - but the protesters won a round ... and get to stay in the park (for now)

To celebrate (the getting to stay part, not the beating part) and be a part of history (and as an investment - these bad boys are only going to appreciate in value when he becomes mega-famous), buy one of our very own Wiliam Banzai's buttons direct from the artist.

6238828974 5389387b60 b Brilliant Protest Art Banzai is too humble to toot his own horn, so I'm doing it for him.

Note: All proceeds from the sale of the buttons will go to a very worthy charit ...   directly into his pocket, to buy tequil ...   enable him to create even more works of genius.

well that is very troubling. i was hoping texas would not get it that much, i am thinking of getting one of those radiation meters. i want to see what is around me, stuff that.i cannot see.........it is something unfortunately these days, that  all families need. they are saying now that it will never end..........

there was some guy in st louis on youtube that regularly puts out reports on what he is measuring. i believe he was measuring something like over a hundred times back ground radiation readings.

after any rain, he says always go and get your car washed and then put it in garage. do not bring that stuff into house..........good idea these days .........crazy world we live in.......crazy...

errr.....any evidence that can back the claim that Jews are 1% fo the population in the USA?? 1% of 300m = 3 million - I could've sworn I have seen more than 3 million Jewish extras and guests on Seinfeld episodes!

Fact: the Jewish population in the US is FAR HIGHER than 3 million....so the conspiracy theory that 1% is a code word for Jews since it coincides with the Jewish population % in the US is just plain wrong.

Police brutality or not: these are the early signs of the rot beginning to engulf the whole of these United States. Reaganomics is long dead and the assumption that unbridled capitalism leads to good since self-interest, profit motivation and the "invisible hand" will fix everything has been proven wrong: the end result of this mentality: the 1% uber-rich getting away with it EVERYDAY, ALL DAY while the masses keep suffering with no end in sight. So its come to this and my guess is that such actions will continue in the foreseeable future - pretty soon the baby boomers who hit retirement will realize that they too have been conned as some of the social security benefits they were promised will be "tweaked". Not all those who reach retirement age can charge $100k per hour on the lecture circuit like Alan Greenspan - yes the individual at the helm of the Fed Reserve for over 2 decades....

And no before all you neo-cons accuse me of being French, communist, socilaist, Marxist, freedom-hater, yada yada, I would like to clarify that I am none of these.

Unbridaled capitalism? Are you serious?

There is 1.7 billion dollars in regulation costs siphoned off the US economy every year. The EPA cannot even factor in the cost of a new regulation.

They have a brand new regulation for hay...fucking dried grass...animal fodder. Stuff that grows and dies on its own...and because someone bundles it up they see a need to regulate it.

Its bullshit before it ever became bullshit.

You mean the $1.70 in new 'regulation' costs that are supposedly incurred.

1st, no proof whatsoever in 'regulation' costs

2nd, most people like clean water, air, etc....

3rd, fascist poop gobblers opinions don't count.

This cavalry was at a homecoming football game...which pretty well beats this morass of stuff dribbling from the mouths (keyboards) of the inarticulate anarchists.

Rest easy with the knowledge that GW's posts are a small refuge for the nut jobs in the ZH community.  Easily beaten back by logic (usually their own lack of it suffices and need not be answered, such as the ridiculous "no proof of the cost of regulation" comment by Saul's ghost above).

Carry on...

And the costs of what  "unregulated" Wall Street banker wankers have unleashed on us: is it $ 2 trillion and counting since the sub-prime debacle?

Goldman directors ending up working as Treasury Secretaries, NY Fed heads, etc.

I am not for over-regulation but Occupy Wall Street focuses primarily on....u guessed it: Wall street and the bankers' irrational exuberance and that "Greed is good" principle that has screwed us over while they enjoy millions in severance pays, publishing memoirs, etc.

The problem with regulations is that Government doesn't attract the brightest lights in the business.  The regulators have no fucking clue what a CDS, CDO or even ETF are, and/or how these may explode and bring down the world as we know it.

Government is constantly building the new Maginot Line, fighting the last century's war.

Yes, it is good to have good regulations - easier said than done.  It is far too easy to have ineffective and burdensome regulations which cause a drag on productivity with no real gain in protection.  Examples:  TSA bag checkers, Sarbanes-Oxley, and the hits keep coming.

The real problem is rampant Corporatism, which is just a by-product of Fascism, the too chummy relationship between Government and Business (oh yes, and the Supreme Court, let's not forget them).

We can continue to blame non-root causes, but until a large number of average people stand up for an end to Corporatism, or maybe a beginning of "No Taxation without (Real) Representation," (sounds familiar, doesn't it), then problems won't get solved.

Don't be too hasty, it always takes a while for incohate rage to coalesce around some well defined principles.  It's too early to tell.

Also, the disinformation is flowing freely at this point.

There are some smart people attending the rallies, and people are desperate.  So the means and the motive to defining something lasting are there.

Hopefully they'll figure out they need a branch in DC next (and that Obama is not on their side).

You know what they are focused on.  Reality. That something is wrong for them.

"but Occupy Wall Street focuses primarily on...."

Most of the know that the American Dream has left them behind. Some went to college. Even ones owned by Goldman Sachs. (EDMC).

So yes, they did try to better themsleves. But Goldman Sachs believes in Socialism for Banks, not society.

Even if Society has taken that dream away because Politicians have Socialized the Banking System at the cost of it's citizens.

Yes, as I have always said here "We are Worse than Japan now"

Because of Zombie Banks. And most do know that the Bailouts exist.

The smarter ones know those Bailouts paid for 'Lloyd Blankfein's 100 million dollar bonus'  A Goldman Sach's CEO.

And the Smarter Ones know that Republican Judd Gregg is a Goldman Sachs Advisor Board Member.

How many dollars does he get under the table. So don't think that they are not learning.

They know it's screwed up and want it fixed for them. Not for Judd Gregg's next election campaign paid for by Goldman Sachs.

"And the costs of what  "unregulated" Wall Street banker wankers have unleashed on us: is it $ 2 trillion and counting since the sub-prime debacle?"

The money men were assured and in some cases forced (Janet Reno, redlining zones etc.) to make subprime loans. The mortgages (in the event of systemic default) would wind up on the peoples tab. Which is exactly what happened. We can't re-write history here.

Regulations were issued and enforced.

This is not to say either side is more to blame than the other...but the capacity for people seeking to do a great good to wind up doing great harm cannot be underestimated.

The Post - owned by Rupert Murdoch is more a 'Capitalist tool' than Forbes......  BTW  - Forbes has had some surpringly positive coverage of OWS.

The NY Tabloids, WSJ (another Murdoch rag) and even the NYTimes have been astoundingly limited in thier coverage - focusing more on arrests and conflicts while downplaying the message.

Forbes is no capitalist tool.  Just a tool in my mind.

BTW - There is NO MESSAGE.  Don't call out the news for not reporting a formless, aimless gathering of anarchists.  Threre are pockets of collectivism within the OWS "crowd," but you wont find from a sampling of 10 folks there the ability to articulate the same raisons d'etre for OWS.

"Let's point our indeterminate rage in this direction and see if anyone listens.  And if they don't, let's get under some copper skin until they take the bait and we can blame them for their 'brutality.'"

It's no wonder these folks can't find real work...

That is all.
