New Bill Authorizes Rendition of American Citizens Living within the United States to Other Countries for Torture

George Washington's picture

Top experts say that the newly-passed National Defense Authorization Act authorizes indefinite detention of Americans living within the United States.

Top legal experts point out that the government claims the right to assassinate American citizens on U.S. soil without any charge or trial or other Constitutional protection.

I noted last month that Congress was considering repealing prohibitions against torture. (I wrote to attorneys at the ACLU, but haven't received word yet on whether or such a provision has been enacted).

However, Mother Jones notes today that Congress has explicitly authorized rendition, allowing American Citizens on U.S. soil to be sent to other countries which do torture:

A defense spending bill that passed both houses of Congress overwhelmingly and is set to be signed by President Barack Obama as early as this week could make it easier for the government to transfer American terrorist suspects to foreign regimes and security forces.

The National Defense Authorization Act (PDF) contains a section that says the president has the power to transfer suspected members and supporters of Al Qaeda, the Taliban, or "associated" groups "to the custody or control of the person's country of origin, any other foreign country, or any other foreign entity."

That means if the president determines you're a member or supporter of Al Qaeda or "associated forces," he could order you to be handed over to the Saudis, the Egyptians, the Yemenis ("any other foreign country"), any of their respective security forces, or even the United Nations ("any other foreign entity"). (You can read the relevant section of the law in the document viewer at the end of this article; look for the highlighted annotations.)

[Daphne Eviatar, a lawyer with Human Rights First] adds that there are "a whole lot of scenarios" where the government might want to transfer a suspected terrorist—even a US citizen—to foreign custody. For example, the administration might not want to go through the political mess of determining whether to send a suspect to Gitmo, try him in a military commission, or use the civilian system. The administration might also want to avoid the mandatory habeas corpus review that would come if the US held the suspect itself. In such a case, transferring the suspect to a foreign security force might present an appealing option.

The Founding Fathers would not recognize this nation as America.

The Founding Fathers would not recognize this nation as America.

I think the smart ones would. Like say Ben Franklin.

What?  You gotta problem with the "chosenites", those fellow humans (well, THEY are human, YOU and I are mongrels) saved by god because they got "special" DNA?  Did you know Israeli scientists swear they traced their very DNA back to good-ole Abe (Abraham)?

"...Your (Hebrews who did not believe on Christ) father is the devil..."  Paul (the Hebrew convert) in Acts

"...say NOT (Pharisees) that you have Abraham as your father..."

"...circumcision and uncircumcision mean nothing..."

Yes.  The only two Mid east nations to support Israel's imaginary "right to exist" (translation, you f with Israel, you f with the USA) are Egypt and Jordan, because the USA pays them for this service.

Yawn...... This Jew hatin really is getting old.

Israel is a phenomenal country who's friendship is priceless.

Most people drawing a breath have been POSITIVELY impacted by the contributions made by Israel/Jews. Engineering, agriculture, medicine, computer hardware and software, aerospace, and on and on.

Also, Israeli women are some of the hottest on the planet.

In conversation with Jew haters, it has been my PERSONAL EXPERIENCE that when you peel away the layers of bullshit arguments and approach the core of their anger, it typically comes down to one of the following:

1. They are fundamentally jealous of the skill and prowess of Jews in business and finance.

OR

2. They are pissed off because a Jew got the better of them in a business transaction of some kind, they were out negotiated or simply outsmarted to the point they feel like an idiot.

As soon the imaginary Palestinian argument is raised, I know I have a sap across the table. Most don't give a crap about what happens to the Palestinians, any more than they give a crap about the Chinese keeping the Uighurs down. This is simply the skirt they hide behind.

I also do not believe for a moment their rage at Israel is fueled by our annual financial assistance. Rarely do you hear the same people vent as loudly about the tens of billions in aid being given to other countries, bail outs of central banks, etc...

In summary:

May the fleas of 1000 camels infest your arm pits (old Yiddish insult).

Stating facts about Israel and the philosophy of the Rabbis (the Talmud) is always and only anti-Semitic, right?

I know: everything about Israel and the Rabbis is always and only good because of the 3rd Reich, right?

It's great that Lubavitch females can not drive cars in NYC, right?

It's great that the favorite saying of the orthodox Jewish male is "Thank god you did not make me a woman"?

Public Law 102-14 is good, right?  The one that institutionalizes the "Seven Noahide Laws", which is whatever the Rabbis say it is......BTW "idolatry" is punishable by death in orthodox Lubavitch religion, and BTW, every single "christian" is an idolater Mr. goyim!

One last little tidbit, Spielberg's Schindler's List.  The world (esp the USA) celebrated Spielberg and his movie for teachiing the world the alleged Talmudic phrase: "If you save one life you saved the whole world"...unfortunately, naive goyim never heard the correct phrase: "If you save one Judaic life, you saved the whole world"

As if any drawing attention to bad acts of Judaics is always and only "jew hatin" and "jealousy".

Are Blacks who expose the true nature of Judaic slave trading in the south bad for doing this?

Judaics (such as Bolsheviks like Bill Crystal's father) achieve much of their success the old fashioned way: bribery, theft (slave trading), warring, blood-letting, extortion, etc.

If you're so bored ("yawn") then go to sleep and stop typing.

I really enjoyed the state sponsored ad about marrying non Israelis.

They, more than any other nation, evoke the Nazi party with it's racial purity laws.

Of course, the giant ghetto that is Gaza and the treatment of Palestinians echoes the third Reich as well.

 FAIL.

PS. The use of white phosphorus against women and children in operation cast lead really underscored how moral the IDF actually is....IE war criminals.

 Have a great hasbara day!

The Israeli government needs to grow up and become part of the world rather than an outlier cannibalizing it (like Big Brother USA).

Israel needs to find it soul, abandon the useless 'hard line' and kick out the Bushwick Mafia which runs the country by remote control.

Israel needs to abandon its Gideon-bible version of Manifest Destiny over Judea and Samaria along with the 'conquest by inches' policy that goes along with it.

Isreal needs to become more Jewish and less like Conquistador (Jesuit) Spain of Phillip II.
