Oakland Police Strike Army Ranger With Nightsticks On His Back, Ribs, Shoulders and Hands, Lacerating His Spleen and Causing Internal Bleeding … Then Deny Him Medical Treatment for 18 Hours

Reuters notes:

A former U.S. Army Ranger and Occupy Oakland protester was in intensive care on Friday after a veterans group said he was beaten by police during clashes with demonstrators this week.

The veteran, identified as Kayvan Sabeghi, was the second former American serviceman during the past two weeks to be badly hurt in confrontations between anti-Wall Street protesters and police in Oakland.

The group Iraq Veterans Against the War said Sabeghi was detained during disturbances that erupted late on Wednesday in downtown Oakland and was charged with resisting arrest and remaining present at the place of a riot.

Highland General Hospital confirmed that Sabeghi was a patient in the intensive care unit there.

Brian Kelly, who co-owns a brew pub with Sabeghi, said his business partner served as an Army Ranger in Iraq and Afghanistan. He said Sabeghi told him he was arrested and beaten by a group of policemen as he was leaving the protest to go home.

“He told me he was in the hospital with a lacerated spleen and that the cops had jumped him,” Kelly said. “They put him in jail, and he told them he was injured, and they denied him medical treatment for about 18 hours.”

The Guardian reports:

Kayvan Sabehgi, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, is in intensive care with a lacerated spleen. He says he was beaten by police close to the Occupy Oakland camp, but despite suffering agonising pain, did not reach hospital until 18 hours later.

***

Sabehgi told the Guardian from hospital he was walking alone along 14th Street in central Oakland – away from the main area of clashes – when he was injured.

“There was a group of police in front of me,” he told the Guardian from his hospital bed. “They told me to move, but I was like: ‘Move to where?’ There was nowhere to move.

“Then they lined up in front of me. I was talking to one of them, saying ‘Why are you doing this?’ when one moved forward and hit me in my arm and legs and back with his baton. Then three or four cops tackled me and arrested me.”

Sabeghi … said he was handcuffed and placed in a police van for three hours before being taken to jail. By the time he got there he was in “unbelievable pain”.

***

Sabehgi was due to undergo surgery on Friday afternoon to repair his spleen, which would involve using a clot or patch to prevent internal bleeding.

***

Some protesters had set fire to a hastily assembled barrier at the corner of 16th Street and Telegraph, in a bid to prevent access to the occupied building, but police drove demonstrators away from 16th Street using tear gas, flashbang grenades, and non-lethal rounds.

Sabehgi said he had not been in the occupied building, and was walking away from the main area of trouble when he was injured.

He said he had his arms folded and was “totally peaceful” before being arrested.

Local San Francisco ABC affiliate KOFY News interviewed Sabehgi’s sister tonight, who said that Sabehgi lived near Frank Ogawa Plaza (the center of the Occupy protests), and was walking home Wednesday night away from violence when police stopped him. Sabehgi said that police ordered him to walk in another direction, and he simply asked “why?”

In response, according to Sabehgi’s sister, the police beat him mercilessly with batons.

Sabehgi was then kept in a holding cell for 18 hours. Despite begging to see a doctor, Sabehgi was refused medical assistance. Instead, according to Sabehgi, his jailors accused Sabehgi without any cause of being a heroin addict and alcoholic and – instead of providing medical help for his severe injuries  – told him to stop taking heroin.

There is apparently a videotape of the incident (KOFY noted that “police are reviewing video of the incident”).

Given the outcry over the unprovoked injury of Marine veteran Scott Olsen – which has caused veterans from all over the country to come out to support the protesters  – Sabehgi’s treatment by the police could generate even more support for the protests .

While your statement is evidently true, you said "rouge" not "rogue".

I now have an image of a hardened battalion of ex-military transvestites kicking ass & reforming democracy.

That's a party I could dance with.

If you are not FOR the System, you are AGAINST the System and therefore truncheon-worthy.

Yeah, you might have served the System in the past, but what have you done for Us lately, hmmm?

huh? ... but ... the Police are the good-guys ... they even said so ... something ain't right!

People who once considered themselves to be on the same team with these bastards are just beginning to wake up to how duped they were, and when they fully realise its all been a monumental vicious brutal sham ...

It will be these Police getting paid back in-kind ...

I don't think that helps, it's just a wasteful process of distracting from the valid targetz.

And that's exactly what  t h e y  want from this sort of thing.

I did get a response from the Mayor of Oakland from the letter I emailed to her.(Apologetic, and blah,.blah, blah,)

Seems like things are NOT getting controlled, but escalting.

Yeah, their incentive is to escalate, they can't back-pedal or else they're done for so they must raise the rhetoric, deny, counter-blame, and increase their thuggery against false targets of MSM hate and condemnation.

THE MSM HAS NOW CLEARLY TOTALLY FAILED TO SERVE ANY USEFUL GENUINE PUBLIC-INTEREST ROLE, AND IS JUST AS MUCH THE BASIS OF THE GLOBAL PROBLEM, AS THE FINANCIAL TERRORISTS ARE.

They use the MSM to pretend to not be just like Assad's Syrian regime ... they maybe not using heavy cannons, but they sure would like to be allowed to. Right?

Because these financial terrorists and political gangsters must create and maintain a thoroughly ridiculous pretence that they're the protectors of the flock, your family and street (rather than the wolves pretending to be the sheepdogs) against an arbitrarily nominated 'enemy' of the state, the 'terrorists', who in fact only wish to resist and overthrow the criminal network.

A real "Regime change" ... to wipe away the REAl 'Sadam'-like murderer class.

Only now the US paramilitary police and their special forces are targeting the 99% of US citizens rather than someone else somewhere else (as is the 'normal' case). That's the politicial and [il]legal  new-'normal' is all.

And now every time they do this, the "us and  t h e m"   aspects become more obvious to all the finally alerted sheep. They finally realise somthing ain't right - the sheepdogs have woolen clothing and look very well fed, there are a lot less working sheep.

Then these sheepdogs have the laughable gall and hypocrisy to condemn Assad, Gadaffi and Armadinnerjacket for trying to maintain a functional country, and defend their territory, laws, culture, and their actual national best interests, rather than have these dictated to them via the UN. These financial-terrorists and political/geopolitical thugs are in essence no different to Assad's brutality (except Assad is probably a genuine patriot and nationalist who wants his country and people to do well - whilst these utter scum couldn't give a damn about the the state they have infested).

They're worse, much more organised criminal killers, and only the tactics used and the happy-happy-joy-joy MSM propaganda varies and creates the flimsey illusion they are not just worse.

The result is basically the same, they kill and destroy people and whole countries, they rend the flock of 'citizens', whilst maintaining the pretence of being the 'good-guys'. The peeps who really care about the USA and the rest of da whirld.

The only thing holding them back now is they still think they can maintain functional practical control on the levels that matter to them, and they're too scared to escalate it too an actual civil war and street battle, as that would upset the apple cart.

As all crime families know, when "The Family" fights amongst itself and other gangs, everyone loses money and power.

It's always better to almost, but not quite go there, but to use the threat of that internal war to force a criminal-infested 'peace' on the flock, where the controlled plunder can continue, in a slightly modified form.

I think it is time to clean America up..

The Talkers.. who have done nothing for 40 fucking years while this shit got out of control..

The Talkers.. who are still talking about talking.. so that they can then talk some more..

have polluted this Country.

Anyone in Uniform, On the Job and / or any other contrived circumstance that would allow ANY FORM OF PROTECTION.. should be held accountable for harming a Service Person who does in Fact.. really provide Security for the Country.

Government does not oppress you, Government does NOT steal or rob you of your rights.. the Meter Maids who Play Dress Up and look like soldiers on a battle field are the ones responsible for ALL OF OUR RIGHTS being stepped on, trampled over and / or shit on.

The Oath that these $100,000 dollar a year Meter Maids suck from the Tax Titt.. has completely left the building and is NOT! coming back.

When People WAKE UP! to the Fact that the terrorists are the Meter Maids dressed up like Marines staring them in the face and NOT the Government in Washington DC.. we will have a ball game! and I am batting a 1,000 and one hell of a pinch hitter!

America needs to take back its Rights from the Daily Onslaught from the Over Paid, wanna be nazi, fucking scumbag bottom feeders that have stolen them!

Until America Takes Back its Rights from these Over Paid Meter Maids.. NOTHING will change in Washington DC, NOTHING!

As long as Washington DC (or anywhere else) can hide behind the Police Unions! there will be NO REAL CHANGE!

And NO amount of talking, Protesting and or Marching will change that FACT! 40 - 50 Fucking Years of Protests and Marches have gotten this Country MORE FUCKED UP! NOT LESS!

"We the People" are and have been at War with the $100,000 dollar a year Meter Maids who dress up like Marines for a GOOD! LONG!! WHILE!!! Of course not everyone knows this because it is NOT! in Heavy rotation on Corporate Owned News Networks!

Let's hope You or Someone You Love is NOT Murdered! Like the Marine? who worked ALL NIGHT at the Mine.. Only to come home and be Murdered?

http://www.courthousenews.com/2011/11/03/41176.htm

TUCSON (CN) - A widow says a regional SWAT team killed her husband, a Marine veteran, in a botched raid not even aimed at him, riddling their house with 72 bullets while she and their 4-year-old son were in it.
Vanessa Guerena says police refused to allow paramedics to help her husband, 26-year-old Jose Guerena, after the SWAT team shot him repeatedly while serving a search warrant on May 5.
"No shots were ever fired at members of the Pima Regional SWAT Team from inside the Guerena home," the widow says in her Pima County Court complaint. She says her husband was "peacefully sleeping in his bed" after returning home from the night shift at a mine when the police killed him.
"After the shooting, the Pima Regional SWAT Team denied entry to anyone, including paramedics, into the Guerena home for over an hour."
The raid apparently was aimed at her husband's brother, who did not live with them.
Guerena says that the affidavit in support of the search warrant "misrepresented and failed to include complete and material information about Joseph Guerena."
The complaint states: "The Pima Regional SWAT Team was serving a warrant based on an alleged investigation into the activities of Jose Guerena's brother, Alejandro Guerena, who was not a resident of Jose Guerena's home. No evidence was found that Jose Guerena was engaging in criminal activity, that any criminal activity was occurring at Jose Guerena's home, or that any evidence of criminal activity would be found in the Guerena home."
Tucson media reported that the SWAT team shot Guerena more than 20 times.
Guerena says that when she pleaded with officers to allow paramedics to care for her wounded husband, "Rather than provide help, the Pima Regional SWAT team forcefully and violently drug [sic] Vanessa Guerena from her home. A frightened, crying, and traumatized Joel Guerena, age four, exited a short time later of his own volition wearing his Spider-Man pajamas.
"Over an hour after the shooting and after sending in two robots, members of the Pima Regional SWAT Team finally entered the Guerena home where Jose Guerena was pronounced dead a short time later."
In addition to shooting the blazes out of their home, Guerena says the SWAT team took "many personal items" from the home and their car, which are "entirely unrelated to any investigation," and have refused to return them.
"After the shooting, the shooters were not immediately separated and were allowed to discuss amongst themselves what occurred. The officers who interviewed the shooters a short time after the shooting often asked the shooters leading questions improperly suggesting what testimony they should give about what occurred during the shooting," the widow says.

It is time to stop turning the other cheek!

Thank you JW
Great link.. I wonder if the cop loving Joe six pack and wife could actually read some of those accounts and still believe. No need to wonder. They are brainwashed without open minds. They will protect the cops no matter the atrocities, or the number of them.

I keep thinking that we are becoming more like Soviet Russia everyday, but this "get behind the cops that kill us" attitude seems more like Nazi Germany than soviet Russia.
I know the cops pull this shit all over the world, but in most countries, I would imagine that everybody knows that it is the police against everybody else. Here they are backed by the masses which are the object of their crimes. They don't fear the masses. We fear the police. That will not continue much longer
