Also, unlike then, now we're living in basically 100 percent fraud conditions.
Don't cancel the fraudulent debt via Glass-Steagall, instead pretend the debt is legitimate, increase the ceiling...but only if you agree to give one of your nuts to do it.
Nothing gets solved until we cancel the fraudulent debt, and alter the structure so the fraud can't be perpetrated after the debt wiping is done. Right now we're just throwing more money after bad, and cutting needed things (mostly) in order to fruitlessly 'solve' (as in NOT solve) the problem. (and somehow think cuts will change the situation?...like a bucket bailing could of saved the titanic)
There is no 'fix' except for Glass-Steagall. The call to shoot ourselves in the head and like it is just pure propaganda. No amount of cuts will cure the problem, because cutting everything to zero, still keeps the structural problem around, and thus the structure will still ensure everything remains broken.

There is plenty of money to cover US debt interest payments. Debt maturities will be funded by issuing new debt (net zero change in debt). Not raising the debt ceiling will cause a partial shut down of the federal government -- which has happened before without lasting consequence and could be the best thing for the people of the United States.
There may be zero chance of default, but this WWWF style drama is drawing out the process in a way that might make me some money, finally. I'm short American reality. I just need them to keep up these Special Olympics qualification heats for another four days . . .

I don't see a big deal with hedge fundies having to pay income tax like the rest, myself, but then I'm not one, just an independent trader who does fine as long as I only have to pay taxes on what I actually make...not that it's going to make much difference to anything anyway.
I don't believe in a balanced budget amendment either - in truth, the smart and correct thing to do is control the money supply to match that of actual goods and services (not the cooked book numbers). This way you have control over inflation/deflation and pretty fine control at that. But no, we have to be able to spend what we want, and aren't smart enough to write budgets that take contingencies into account, you know, like every living working human has to do at home in order to survive.
Why has not one government official agreed to work for a buck a year, as some CEO's have? And skip those fancy bennies they get no one else does. Or even get rid of the laws that let them break our laws, like insider trading? We know why of course, but tossing that out there enough might get the less up on things people thinking a little more.
