Petition the Inspector General: Investigate Attorney General Bondi’s Firings of June Clarkson and Theresa Edwards

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi seems to think her first duty is to protect some of Gov. Scott’s biggest corporate pals – the banks – instead of hard working Floridians. Recently Bondi fired Florida’s two leading attorneys investigating the epidemic of foreclosure fraud ravaging our communities.

June Clarkson and Theresa Edwards were tasked by then-Attorney General Bill McCollum last year to investigate allegations of widespread fraud taking place in foreclosures occurring around the state. They did their jobs well…perhaps too well for Pam Bondi.
The investigation by Clarkson and Edwards produced a blockbuster presentation entitled “Unfair, Deceptive and Unconscionable Acts in Foreclosure Cases. ” The presentation demonstrated numerous outrageous examples of blatant fraud and deception by banks and law firms initiating foreclosures known as “foreclosure mills.” Clarkson and Edward’s work was so effective it was used in other states in prosecuting foreclosure fraud . Then in May, despite a recent glowing performance evaluation, both attorneys were suddenly told by a supervisor to immediately step down or be fired.

There are certainly a lot of details like that to take into consideration. That is a great point to bring up. I offer the thoughts above as general inspiration but clearly there are questions like the one you bring up where the most important thing will be working in honest good faith.

The blogger is doing an important service for everyone, that I have no doubt. But the more I read the articles, the more untenable any meaningful protests become. Let me explain:
We all know about the giant Ponzi fraud associated with the Fed. We all know about the frauds certain investment banks commit every day. What I didn't count on was how deep and pernicious corruption is throughout the pillars of the justice system. It is so widespread, I really had difficulty believing some of the stories posted by the blogger:
Swat teams breaking and entering homes to evict/arrest people for mortgage/student loan default, judges giving Robo-signatures and shifty banks precedence, billionaire nutjobs just breaking and entering empty homes to claim as his own after filing bogus paperwork (Which is a victory of sorts against the banks I suppose), NY policemen murdering a falsely evicted guy after he investigated the judge who ruled against him, then the police assaulting the journalist who is investigating the murder, and...it goes on. It is a catalogue of a gangster state at the highest levels of the nation. And virtually nobody is doing anything about it except for this blogger and maybe a handful of others. Looking at this from the outside, disbelief and sadness doesn't quite cover it. I don't know whether these were isloated incidents or par for the course in every state, but the fact that it is allowed to go on without massive protests speak volumes about America.
I will sign the petition, for what it's worth, but the odds of winning against the system seem insurmountable. In almost every way possible, I think America is fucked. Which makes a change from Americans shouting, 'Fuck yeah' at everyone else.

Well worth an investigation of AG Bondi though using official channels to investigate the corrupt and/or inept work practices of officials is a decidedly mixed affair.. Prime Minister Tony Blair has snaked his way easily through no less than 3 crony Public Investigations all staffed with peanut brained wet blankets so inept themselves we need another 3 investigations on their corruption and/or ineptness!
