New York Police Mace, Brutalize and Arrest Peaceful Wall Street Protesters

According to various reports, New York City Police have maced, brutalized and arrested peaceful Wall Street protesters.

Here is a video of peaceful female protesters penned in an orange mesh barricade and then allegedly maced:

Here is a protester getting pinned down with a knee on his throat:

Here is a video of a protester allegedly arrested simply for talking to an officer:

Here is a video of another incident:

There are also reports that the police have confiscated cameras and other reporting equipment, and arrested reporters.

The Wall Street Journal notes that 80 protesters were arrested.

The cover of the New York Daily News reads:

Cops smack down dozens during protests
Its Wail Street

The protesters issued a press release today stating:

A march of about 2,000 citizens marched peacefully demanding that the voice of the 99% be heard. This peaceful march called We Are the 99%, was done in solidarity with the #occupywallstreet movement. The movement is entering its second week
and is gaining momentum both locally and nationally. Many more rallies and escalating actions are planned for the coming week. The occupation will continue indefinitely.

The NYPD attacked the crowd of peaceful protesters and conducted mass arrests of marchers near Union Square with orange netting, sweeping up Reports of some injuries.

#OCCUPYWALLSTREET is a people powered movement for democracy that began in America on September 17 with an encampment in the financial district of New York City. Inspired by the Egyptian Tahrir Square uprising and the Spanish acampadas, we vow to end the monied corruption of our democracy.

#occupwallstreet is currently located at Liberty Square, formerly named Zucotti Park.

Here is the Twitter feed for the protest, and here is a livestream:

Well I view the macing of passive women protestors as brutality.  It may not be up to the standards you are so proud to have observed.

But I have known a lot of veterans of foreign wars.  Men who fought the Nazis on foot in a take no prisoners slog.  None of them laughed at violence like you do Sparky.  They did what they has to and quietly lived with it the rest of their lives without whining like petulant little girls.  So man up and find a heart.  You'll be happier for it.

"Why the hell would I have taken so much time making a post like that for all you wusses?"

Umm, I dunno,  I'll take a few guesses:

To prove you are tougher than us?

To prove you are better than us?

To assert your authority, sir?

The American people ask...who's worse 'the terrorists' or the NYPD?  Are they on the same side?  The answer is YES.

Nazi Amerika, where the police are as bad as terrorists.  Actually worse, since they're here everyday.

Fascist NYPD military police, protecting the scum, and harming the people.   To Serve and Protect Bankster interests.

The sad thing is they go home at night and drink the kool-aid about how super american they are.  How they're whats right with america.

Each one of those officers is guilty of a crime.  For witnessing their bretheren commit crimes and not do anything about it. About 1000x over.

Fucking dumbshit flat foot forest gumps....not too hard to turn their fucktard asses into fascists.  Remember, for many of them, YOU are the iraq/afghan people now.  All that good training, now going to be used on YOU.   Support useless wars, the soldiers gain useless experience.

A big middle finger to all of the fascists.   Which obviously includes the NYPD.

The title should say, NYPD cops piss on the graves of the cops that died on 9/11.   That's what they did.   Hope they feel very proud of themselves.  Yet they'll have the balls to stand there the next 'memorial' and act like they respect them.  They don't, or shit like this wouldn't have happened.   Takes a real dumbass not to see the truth in it.

The funny thing is a lot of these protestors will get the last laugh by turning around and suing the NYPD after the protest. There are some "professional" protestors who can almost make a living that way. Today the boys at the top tell the cops to use whatever force "necessary" at the protest, but tomorrow the videos come out in court. When the cops get charged in a case of obvious brutality, the big boys tend to turn on them and lawyers can get some decent cash settlements. Some of these folks will get $10,000-$50,000 for the treatment they received at the protest. Not a bad windfall for a little mace in the face.

CORPORATE PROPAGANDA:

- Americans are better off than most others in the world.

- The US economy is a free market system.

- Corporations owe their success to free market & innovation rather than govt support &? subsidy.

- What happiness we have is thanks to big business & free markets.

- For our ills, the govt is to blame, rather than big business.

- Displaced college educated protesters bad, thug uneducated cops who defend wall st bonuses and trust fund kids good.

- Blame the poor from self improving their conditions, reward the rich for born into it.

Shooting cops will bring (at least) a TSA type checkpoint at every transit point in your city, with a few mobile random ones for good measure.

The only way i can see your "Crew served weapon" scenario happening is if the cops are being overwhelmed by a mob, call in the National Guard, and the Guard decides the cops are the criminals.  Fat chance of that.

Since a cop is fully trained for armed encounters, when he screws up the penalty should be double what a civilian gets for a similiar screwup.  How that happens in real life, when the judges and prosecutors are in bed with the cops?  No clue.

Scream, seriously.  We have a Government who is creating a class of Caliphate malcontents in the Middle East.  They want to end our way of life (real market capitalism - not this fake version), remove our heads, and place Allah in the reserved freedom seat.  No way in hell is this going to happen.  I spent a day at a college football game in the Midwest yesterday.  When the cops tried to take a beachball from the fans, the whole section erupted.  They left.  People have had it with Big Brother, Big Government, and the Invaders.  No one wants to be told what to do.  The end of being told what to do is compounding like interest....  Through the vote box or other means it is upon us.

While most of this hippie, communist, anarchist, no nothings need to be beaten down;  they serve a purpose.  Middle class is brewing and tired of being told what to do, believe, and live like.....

People who side with the thug cops in these videos really disgust me. You must have a bad case of Stockholm Syndrome to be so enamored with the arbitrary, irrational abuse of "authority." Hah, if that is your authority, you are doomed. You have a dark dystopian future ahead of you if you're going to condone that kind of action.

Aw Mr Jingles,

I thought you were taught better than that. NYC's finest want the sheep out of WS and they say hell no and use their voice to do so and all you can say is disobey a lawful order.

If you were not just a mere floater left in the bowl for others to flush, your comment would have merit...........JK, it would not. This could very well be the beginning stage of a more abrupt awakening of the sheep who are tired of being herded by government and the owners of.

You and those like you should be worried, very worried that this will intensify in the coming time. This type of situation will have your kind sucking your thumbs and forgetting that said thumbs were just pulled out of your ass's.

You best be prepared to run and run far. You cant hide, but you can run.

Everyone knows I'm right.

I'm not siding with this whiny trash.  Let them get the crap kicked out them and wear the police out for when the real fight begins.

The real fight will be fought asymmetrically and will focus, mostly, on jews, their shabbos goy, and their families.

1000 cells of 3 men could decapitate london's vassalage in a week.  It wouldn't even take more than 1000 well placed shots.

I for one, think it's better than nothing and as long as it makes the sheeple a little aware that the banksters are the bad guys, rock on!

Absolutely.  If it draws attention to the problem and causes a few unenlightened populace to investigate further and by extension wake them up to the truths (there are so many) then it's worth it.  There need to be many more awake to effect change.

I don't like the word "sheeple" any more.  It's derogatory and implies that those who are not awake are less than human beings.  It is divisive in that context and not helpful in building a common cause.  Also, a lot of those so-called sheeple are my family and loved ones.

I prefer the awake and the asleep.  How about "asleeple"?

If you let people talk long enough, uninterrupted, they will usually disclose their positions {covert ones}. In the last, rambling video from "LIVE LEAK", comes the author and progressive agent, Chris Hedges. THIS MAN IS A PROGRESSIVE SOCIALIST. He is bankrolled by various foundations-Ford, Rockefeller, etc. Says he just got back from Immokalee, Florida, where workers there are used as slaves. Guess what little fact he omitted to tell? THOSE WORKERS ARE ILLEGAL ALIENS. Yet he is more concerned with thier "welfare" than the average, legitimate american citizen. Did you hear what he had to say about the Tea Party people? WOW! He used all of the progressive tags: RACIST, religous fanatics, obsessed with GUN CULTURE, homophobes, and my favorite; CLIMATE CHANGE DENIERS! I'm sorry to be so jaded, but I don't believe there are that many true, grass roots assembly groups. The "average" person is too busy working two jobs to demonstrate. The unemployed are too busy either looking for work, hitting the temp agencies, or collecting their benefits and watching Maury Povich. Movements need leaders and FUNDING. I have little doubt who is funding this crowd. I expect the socialist/progressives to exploit this economic crisis for all it is worth going forward.

I know that the quote has been repeated many times, in many places. I won't quote it. I will say that I haven't given much attention to this event because it's boring to watch people repeat history. The bottom line is that a mob rejects instruction.  In that situation, people make very poor judgments and do very stupid things. They suffer because of the delusion that their anger will matter, if they make enough of a nuisance of themselves. They would deo better to do the things that work. But alas, they are all addicted to the convenience and currency of the corporate structure. The collapse of the USD would be the best thing that could happen. Unfortunately, most people will whore themselves out to whoever has the fake money that replaces the USD. But, enough of that. These political and social gatherings don't amount to a fart in a wind tunnel. As Harmon Taylor says,

"The legal reality is that commercial problems require commercial solutions."

The lock on the gate of the internment camp that is the Federal corporation is the currency. The rude awakening will be when the bank branches don't open, the ATMs don't work.

legal_reality@earthlink.net

Harmon Taylor gets into citizenship and rights issues. He's very good at identifying commercial problems and researching commercial solutions. His email newsletter is free. I've been getting them for a long time and and have a few hundred of them in a folder.

John Jennings has decades of experience in historical legal research. The last time I checked, John's website was unavailable. I'll send an email to his webmaster, if that is still down. John has a great explanation for the situation we are in.

"The problem is that we have fake people, living in a fake country, using fake money, and subject to fake laws."

That covers the bases. The big question is, how do we get out of that Federal whorhouse, and still make a living?

http://www.hobbleknot.com

L. B. Bork has a mountain of research at his websites. I know that we can find answers that work. We just all need to be pulling in the same direction. We see those statistics that 50% of people in the U.S. don't pay income taxes. The reasons are that they have no taxable income. Some of them are State Nationals, and can prove that they are not shareholders in the Federal corporation, do not receive corporate profits as Federal employees, and refuse to take Federal oaths in any form.

http://www.pacinlaw.org

http://theredamendment.com

George Gordon has done a lot of research in the commercial law, particularly regarding private contract. His website is:

Of course, we have to have Black's Law Dictionary available to us, at any time.

http://georgesblogforum.wordpress.com/2011/07/03/blacks-law-dictionary-o...

A very good website on taking legal action on citizenship is the site for John Ainsworth's group in North Carolina. I'm following the progress of their court case.

http://ncrepublic.net

It is my hope that we can retrace our steps and stand as free people. I do welcome and appreciate your feedback.

No riot without the true underclass blacks and mexicans.

That's why they let Obama get elected. So that they can have a half black guy tell rest of the blacks to sit down shut up and work harder to pay for the bankster bailouts.

Illegals are just waiting for Obama to legalize them so they are sitting still as well. What they don't realize is that citizenship will be handed out to illegals only so that they can continue their shitty life except they will actually have to pay all taxes and fees. As if there is a difference between illegal farm slave/ toilet bowl cleaning maid vs. legal farm slave/toilet bowl cleaning maid. Toilets are not cleaner just because you are a citizen.

Asians are screwed too in a sense that they immigrate to US thinking they will get more opportunities to join the elite only to face the racial ceiling unless you completely sell out and within one generation their shitty home country will be swimming in cash vs their own kids in America will be debt slaves.

So far it is working out for the elites where the point of life for 99% is to slave away and make 1% richer in the world standing.

He sure knows how to sell out his own kind. This time because he is biracial he can sell out white and blacks at the same time!

Next up, people get to choose either Mormons children get sold into slavery by Romney and his Bain Capital or dumb whites in Texas get higher oil prices and taxes to pay for war in oil producing countries for the benefit of cutting cost for oil companies in by Perry.

Or Obama can keep screwing blacks (of which 90% voted for) with new york bankster money. If not, then Hillary is always up to task with deep Clinton (senator from New York) ties to Rubinites. Her daughter works in hedge fund and married to some jewish punk working for.....Goldman Sachs. No wonder Bill came out in supporting GS.

What I don't like about this "protest" is that the majority of the protestors don't really have a clue why they are there. The whole thing reeks of a union sponsored sit in like wisconsin. Just like the1970s Vietnam protests by a bunch of hippies claiming they represented99% of America. A majority of American actually supported the Vietnam War.

Cops today are SS stormtroopers, only fatter and with no standards to get the job. A total majority of them could not get an actual job since the average IQ o a cop today is a point higher thanthe level of full retardation. They don't want to actually work and are pissed off any time someone dares say they don't deserve a fat pension. The only crime they fight is the pettty kind like traffic laws where they know they can take advantage of a peaceful person. Only that is now coming to an end as well since they now think every traffic stop is a chance to get shot in the face. Every person is now looked at like a criminal, you just haven't done something yet. Cops look at anyone who is not a cop in total disgust.

Honestly dropping a bomb to kill the cops and protestors would do the most good. The cops are the enemy as much as a group of clueless leftists. They will just create a situation where a real protest will never happen because it will not be allowed. Like I said before the government was scared shitless at the Glenn Beck Tea Party rally. The police knew if they even touched the head of a person there all of right wing America would erupt. Those  are the people that need to act. A little group of communists wil just cause more harm even if protesting against Wall Street is the right thing to do.

It is the middle class productive workers who are shown the carrot of meritocracy but really they have the worst deal. Wage slavery to pay off debt their whole life. You don't own shit. What? You think the Wall Street protests are real? I bet if you dig a lot of the peopl were probably paid to be there.

In every newspaper  there are ads to get paid by lefty orgs to protest. A kid can make $250 a week to protest a nuclear plant. Does he really care about the cause? Would they b there without the money?

I know I am a peon with no real power. I do need to feed myself and my family but for my job I design things and actually create something of worth. If thesystem goes down I can build a house and know how to build a generator from spare parts. I know how to hunt and can hit a bullseye from over 100 yards.

The only path to real change is for the silent majority to scream.

If the system goes down, 10M illegal mexicans and 50M welfare class whites and blacks are going to come rape you and your family with guns. gold, generator, spare parts, hunting skills don't matter in anarchy. Guns and control of military will fill the vaccum. Do you see self-sufficient independent individuals living well in Somalia who can subsist with bare minimum than you ever will because they have lived it for years already? They live in fear of goons paid off with drug money controlled by military leaders who control tanks and military grade fire arms donated by foreign powers. You can't hunt or farm when there are 1000 thugs waiting to loot you and rape your family when you leave the house.

When shit hits the fan, YOU are the rich guy with things and desparate masses will come after you or people with bigger guns will sell into into slavery. Sure you can hunt, but the revolutionary gang commander will steal half to feed his troops.

System of power never disappears so better to reform then waste energy in futile attempts to eliminate power structures totally.

In a free country, we have the right to protest anything! Why are you generalizing that they are clueless? Did you do an exhaustive series of interviews? Were you there? They are demonized like the G20 protesters and the TeaParty. I know I would not agreee with the views of all of them, but the point is they have a right to assemble and free speech!!

Sun, 09/25/2011 - 11:51 | 1707560 AldousHuxley
AldousHuxley's picture

Free country or not it doesn't matter what the law says. It is the will of the people that matters who can write new laws or disobey bad laws.

Lack of protest, freedom of speech, etc. didn't prevent revolutions around the world. America itself was founded prior to any freedom specifically given by any law. All that constitution is up to interpretation by the elite who puts like-minded folks in the justice system. However, injustice needs no judge nor judgement. It is apparent to the masses. You don't need capitalism to see that bankster bailouts are wrong. Even in communism, if one group messes up the operations and screws up but are protected by the ruling elite, the rest of the part will revolt.

World is ripe for revolution. I'm afraid the elites instead of turning things around are making things worse with more bailouts, more use of force, more cornyism, more screwing of the 99%. When things finally crash, bankster elites will simpyl take their money and leave the country, but other elites (political, main street, institutional, etc.) will not be able to do the same.

I didn't say anything about their right to protest. Of course they have the right but I will maintain the statement that they are clueless. It would be fun to ask them about derivatives, bailouts, margin calls, insider trading, leverage, etc. Most of them will have canned prepared responses like, Wall Sreet ruined America by taking billions and not giving money back. While some statements might be true they lack the understanding why the statements are true.

The worst thing you can have is the ignorant taking to the streets because they lack conviction and the ability to actually build anew what they destroy.

The ability and the conviction to build anew comes from an intense passion to end disorder. But first the disorder must be seen including the underlying causes. A five year old has the ability to build anew because he or she is free from the shackles of petty ideologies. Grandiose theories of finance & economics have nothing to do with freedom.

lower half of the masses (tea party, hippie college kids) never understands why but still they all have feelings and they outnumber both upper middle and elites. It is the responsibility of the upper middle (top quartile in wealth) to lead revolutions for they alone can never be the majority. However, upper middle are siding with the elites for elites are throwing enough crumbs at them for now. Wall st. bonuses to ivy league grads...just wait 20 years when they realize the bonus won't be enough to pay for their own kids' education at the same alma mater because Paris Hilton's dumbass kids' have even more money and $20M beats $100k bonus. That is if they don't get laid off when they turn 45 by the CEO who now is controlled by america's 400 richest families + foreign billionares. Yeah....even Americans CEOs are gonna squeal when their owners are Arab oil barrons, Chinese communists, and Russian oligarchs.

It is better to change the elite regime now, but it looks like upper middle class is foolish enonugh to wait until they too are screwed. The are holding on to their shitty macmansions, meaningless corporate existence, fake family and friends, mass market "luxury" goods, and false sense of alliance with the rich.  As if Kings ever spared the advisers.

Your house didn't go up in value, the dollar (oru global purchasing power) just decreased.

Your stocks/wealth didn't go up in value, the inflation just increased.

Your status and position in the world, they just made up a new one for the sake of title change.

Your family didn't get happier, they just distanced you from your family and closer to wage slavery.

You didn't earn more friends, you just attracted more mone grubbing whores who will leave you once you lose money.

Your life isn't any better, they just show you a fake one on TV for you to believe that reality shows are your reality.

You are not getting happier, you are just a sucker who is living in denial.

Anyone remember the NYC cop riot in Tompkins Square back in the 80's?

I remember when Obama was elected in 2008,people were occupying the streets everywhere to celebrate, right? And where were the cops to arrest them?
Therefore please don't namethe activity about wall street, just name it Obama for 2012 and so such then the cops will bring you hot meals and tents.

astute idea zebra, I laughed at the audacity of its simplicity. Kids need to make "More Hope and Change 2012" banners with small "oh...and end the Fed, no more Tarp" in smaller font at he bottom. lol

I hate the big banks as much as anyone. But these protests are a farce.

The undercover video of unions and community organizers preparing for this has been on the internet for months.

The banks are thieves, but it is the elected officials who handed them the public checkbook who are responsible.

Remember all the ACORN videos protesting banks a few years ago? And where did that lead? The banks being "forced" into making subprime loans, backed by the taxpayers of course. That worked out well.

This is just another attemped shake down by a bunch of special interest groups against some other special interest group because they're feeling left out of the big money give aways.

This is more like a loud but mostly peaceful mafia turf battle then meaningful social change.

They are protesting income inequality(effect), not bankster debt, globalism, the Fed devaluing the dollar, out of control spending. Those are our mega problems.

The puppetmasters need to get the protesters to see anyone who is "rich" as the problem and make sure they don't pull back the curtain, to see the full picture.

I thought it was interesting on Drudge the main story is Obama calling blacks to "put their marching shoes on!" He should have said, get permits first please. And don't wear contact lenses, just in case!

I wonder who will be on the first FEMA buses?

Team Red/Team Blue extends down to the troops in the streets, whether they know it or not.

"They" march demanding change

The government reluctantly agrees to step in and impose a solution

Pressure from above, pressure from below

I wonder what particular "solution" they are going for this time, beyond the usual handout of taxpayer money?
