New York Police Mace, Brutalize and Arrest Peaceful Wall Street Protesters
According to various reports, New York City Police have maced, brutalized and arrested peaceful Wall Street protesters.

There are also reports that the police have confiscated cameras and other reporting equipment, and arrested reporters.
The Wall Street Journal notes that 80 protesters were arrested.

A march of about 2,000 citizens marched peacefully demanding that the voice of the 99% be heard. This peaceful march called We Are the 99%, was done in solidarity with the #occupywallstreet movement. The movement is entering its second week
and is gaining momentum both locally and nationally. Many more rallies and escalating actions are planned for the coming week. The occupation will continue indefinitely.The NYPD attacked the crowd of peaceful protesters and conducted mass arrests of marchers near Union Square with orange netting, sweeping up Reports of some injuries.

This street protesting isn't working too well. Writing to your 'public representative' (cough) doesn't work too well either. And voting is even worse as your voice is marginalised amongst thousands of other voters (deliberate systemic design anyone?) and the sugary crap parties put in their manifestos. Is there an easier, faster more effective (democratic) way of being heard and voting?

By not paying your taxes you say very clearly you no longer wish to fund/endorse/sponsor this Govt (and its bailouts or 3 murdeerous, expensive and clearly illegal foreign wars). You withdraw the funding for the crones, corrupt crooks and their police (the establishments thugs) by simply not paying their wages. When you stop paying your taxes you no longer sponsor State terrorism (wars etc), you no longer support State corruption (bailouts etc) and you no longer are party to the vast array of State criminality

The freedom of self rule in the US is restricted to those who master the art of deception and misdirection as well as the ability to give tribute to Caesar in money and or deeds. If you are a US citizen, you are a slave forever indebted, denounce your citizenship and pay to own your self. If you can not do neither, stay and be an outlaw. There are other ways to fight, we must be able to live without government intervention and be self sustainable.
What if they zero out your bank account? If you dont pay taxes you will be branded a terrorist because you tried to prevent the Homeland Security from fighting terrorism. And govt has powers to freeze bank accounts.

Do you live in the USA? If you do you should know it is virtually impossiblefor people to stop paying taxes due to the way the system is structured. About the only people who can actually stop paying are those that are self employed or consultants that get 1099s. Anyone who is actually employed directly has their taxes deducted with every paycheck by the corporation they work for. Now people can protest by not filing 1040 forms but the government would actually like that since most people would be forfeiting the right to get back money rightfully theirs that the government took in excess.
Some people could stop paying property tax but try getting a mortgage today without a forced escrow account. The system has been used to destroy any ability to prevent the government from taking your money.
What is sad is that the only real way to end taxation is to somehow get Walmart to stop witholding money from paychecks and stop sending checks to the government. That would actually make a statement but not actually do much harm since 99% of Walmart employees dont actually pay any federal tax since they make too little.
The tax revolt is simply a pipe dream. The only answer is true insurrection.
These so-called protestors would do themselves some good by:
1. Eating meat and potatoes
2. Bulking up with protein shakes and creatine
3. Going to the gym instead of hotboxing, xing and getting another tattoo
4. Study hand to hand combat techniques

Looks like a lot of young people looking to videorecord the heroic acts of another. Lots of people wanting to be "in" on the rebel movement without taking too much personal risk. If, after all the hype, #occupyWallStreet is nothing more than 2000 kids posting videos of each other on Facebook, while returning home to a warm meal at the parents to cheer each others heroism, we are a very long way from revolution.

I have a solution to THIS. The protestors need to grab a few OC "BEAR REPELLANT" sprays and set them off around the clusters of police.

These protestors are not peaceful at all. They are creating a chaotic situation flooding the financial district, disrupting businesses, shouting at the top of their lungs, etc. Then when told to move on they disobey a lawful order and try to take control of the situation and argue with law enforcement, resulting in getting slammed to the pavement and arrested as they should be.
Most cops are great people in my opinion just trying to do their jobs. Imagine trying to maintain peace with hundreds of faceless protestors screaming at you. At some point if your a protestor and you single yourself out by getting in an officer's face eventually you will be arrested.
These people know exactly what they're doing and they are leftists, not "average americans".

you hit it right on....these protestors are in favor of collectivism, not against it...they are in favor of different type of collectivism....collectivism run by the government instead of the big banks....I doubt these protestors are for individualism, liberty, and the consititution...we shall see....
With all due respect, these people are actually expressing their first amendment rights granted by the Constitution: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
If I understand you, you find this to be a disturbing story because you believe the protesters are actually collectivists? I don't think they have any interest in collectivism run by the government, but even so, how can we have freedom of speech and press and assembly if what we say determines whether we will be allowed to say it? I sure don't like what neo-nazis have to say, but I absolutely support their right to say it. At the same time, I support the counter-protesters that often show up and see this as more constructive in a democracy than stifling dissent through the heavy hand of the State, a common feature of fascism (along with collectivism in the form of corporations). And it's not like the corporations and the government aren't colluding amongst themselves to keep the existing power structures in place and tamping down disturbances to maintain their power.
I tend to agree with Max Keiser that they would have been better-off protesting at the NYFRB, but I am always inspired when I see people take to the streets for what they believe. I also know many activists and I think if you actually sat down and talked with some, there would be many points of agreement. Not on all accounts, perhaps, but these kids know way more about how the world works than I did when I was 18.
Now there's an idea. If some Tea Party folks would show up on the other side of the street there would be endless media coverage! Perhaps the organizers should "organize" a faux Tea Party contingent to "counter protest" in the vicinity. Dress 'em up right with tea bags hanging from some sombreros and sun hats. Minute Man uniforms and such would make great media pablum. Oh! The mind reels at the possibilities. The current crop of protestors suffer only from a lack of imagination.

Most of the "docile cattle" alive today had little choice in the matter. They were programmed that way from the cradle with TV and government brainwash schools. TV is intentionally habit forming so you absorb the programming. Look up the effects of flouride sometime, makes folk docile! Fast and processed food tends to produce flabby docile people who are not in good enough health to do anything even if they do wake up!
