New York Police Mace, Brutalize and Arrest Peaceful Wall Street Protesters

According to various reports, New York City Police have maced, brutalized and arrested peaceful Wall Street protesters.

Here is a video of peaceful female protesters penned in an orange mesh barricade and then allegedly maced:

Here is a protester getting pinned down with a knee on his throat:

Here is a video of a protester allegedly arrested simply for talking to an officer:

Here is a video of another incident:

There are also reports that the police have confiscated cameras and other reporting equipment, and arrested reporters.

The Wall Street Journal notes that 80 protesters were arrested.

The cover of the New York Daily News reads:

Cops smack down dozens during protests
Its Wail Street

The protesters issued a press release today stating:

A march of about 2,000 citizens marched peacefully demanding that the voice of the 99% be heard. This peaceful march called We Are the 99%, was done in solidarity with the #occupywallstreet movement. The movement is entering its second week
and is gaining momentum both locally and nationally. Many more rallies and escalating actions are planned for the coming week. The occupation will continue indefinitely.

The NYPD attacked the crowd of peaceful protesters and conducted mass arrests of marchers near Union Square with orange netting, sweeping up Reports of some injuries.

#OCCUPYWALLSTREET is a people powered movement for democracy that began in America on September 17 with an encampment in the financial district of New York City. Inspired by the Egyptian Tahrir Square uprising and the Spanish acampadas, we vow to end the monied corruption of our democracy.

#occupwallstreet is currently located at Liberty Square, formerly named Zucotti Park.

Here is the Twitter feed for the protest, and here is a livestream:

Very good pick up.  That is a hallmark of radicals - language change.  "Peace officers" is an attempt to project blame.  And the right to defend one's self is not absolute.  WE THE PEOPLE don't antagonize law enforcement as a ruse to the right to defend ourselves.

Other language veils: "choice", "diversity", "public (schools)", "right to privacy", "minority", "community"...

@ Socratic dog

Unfortunately, exercising your right will get you killed.

It could, indeed.  But if you are unwilling to exercise rights, then you don't actually have rights, and tryanny wins by default.

The legitimate rights of government are delegated to them by consent of we, the governed.  While we consent, they have no more legitimate rights to act then we do in our own behalf.  If we withdraw consent it is THEY who have no rights.

Thank you all for making my point. These are the same type of self-centered people that attended the Ed Schultz One Nation Rally in D.C. last year, as a counterpoint to Glenn Beck's, hugely successful, Restoring Honor Rally. One only has to compare the two rallys videos to see which one was the most effective in the American public's eyes. I look forward to the next successful, peaceful, TeaParty march in D.C., New York, or wherever. Wake up, children, your parents are trying to set a good example for you in proper, effective, protest rally comportment. BTW, we have no records of arrest to date at our rallies.

"ClassicalLib" - as in classical liberalism? What an insulting joke. You're apologizing for tyrants and moaning about the protestors' comportment. What about the comportment of the cops, beating up and macing innocent people? This protest has already accomplished more than all your precious "Tea Party" marches, by shining a bright light on the nature of the forces that keep TPTB in control.

What exactly changed from said rally? We have reached the end point....the criminals continue their theft with no consequences except to the people. Wealth is being drained from the people and going to the bankster/political class. It is a 2 party system.

TP was a great movment until it became bastardised by the republican party. Now it is just republicans acting angry, but their actions are the same. It is the ACTIONS that show the truth....rhetoric is just talk. At least a few are fed up and taking action...by the time the 2012 election rolls around it will be too late....

Making your point?  What point?  That you are a right-wing troll, shilling for the GOP?  After all, that is who has co-opted the so-called Tea Party movement, and who has been financing and guiding it all along.  Perhaps you are still suffering from the misguided belief that the current 2 party system has goods guys on one side and bad guys on the other, and don't yet realize they are both essentially the same.

Or, maybe your point is that you are just a sucker, and had a great big glass of the Koolaid.

And as for the remark about the children waking up and following the Tea Party rally example of comportment, well what generation is responsible for this mess?  If I were younger, I would be a LOT more pissed off than these protesters.

Nothing like a good Tea-bagger rally to cleanse the ball-sack of all reality. You guys are good for one thing and one thing only in which you have so appropriately named yourselves, everything else is noise.

Just listen to yourselves with your threatening rhetoric.  I'll bet that none of you have ever attended a 9/12 patriot or teaparty meeting.  But you all know exactly what we are about.  It's easy to talk tough over the internet.  I have personally confronted your types in my hometown with logic and reason, only to be disrespected and shouted down.  You people are just looking for your own cut of the kleptocrats pie.  When the shit hits the economic fan we will see how strong your leftist movements really are.  You shouldn't be in fear of law enforcement, your ass kicking will not come from them.

Ezekiel 25:17

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

Our type......if the SHTF, how are you going to survive all dressed in George. You guys spouted some common ground in the beginning then went all Banana Hammock and let those already in control take over, so your movement has quantified itself into nothing more than the same old shit different day mentality.

Your ass kicking will come from the same side within, you best go long in ball-sacks as that will be your only saving grace.

Not preaching, just trying to get all you loudmouths to calm down and think about what you are supporting here.  You are not helping to solve any problems, and you are hurting the working class with your boisterous bravado. Are you angry because the TeaParty has become a majority political movement for less gov't? Or, is it because we took away your control of Congress and, next year, your control of the Senate and the Whitehouse?  Bwahahaha...   Crybabies, all.

Surely you puked in your mouth when you thought about that. Your kind stopped nothing, those elected from the Bagger movement was bought on day 2 of taking office....we saw what we saw, the Bagger movement is no longer meaningful, as fast as they got in,  they will be taken out.

This system is FUBAR, there are no one Bagger or no god that will save it......the only reason to get on your knees will be to kiss the ass of those that stand before you.

You people just don't understand what the TeaParty is about.  We support conservative politicians of any political stripe, a fact that certain Republicans are beginning to understand.  We will put up a challenger to the Speaker of the House next year if he doesn't stop acting like alot of you mis-guided leftists on this thread.  The only political movement that has been seriously co-opted by the fringe would be the Democrat Party.  The majority of Americans have had their fill of social justice politics and next years elections should be very telling.  If you truly want to make a difference in your lives you will volunteer with your local TeaParty or 9/12 patriot organization.  May God Bless you all

And why bring god into it? It is the religious right that is incapable of handling reality, and is definitely acting far from Christian. The Tea Party itself is quite simply an embarassment. Loonies with half baked understandings of how things actually work. They are upset, but can't understand why - because they don't wnat to hear the truth. America can not rule the world anymore. It's time has passed.

Dear Juan,  I call my congressional and senatorial offices when I have a problem with their judgement.  I have also traveled to D.C. 4 times in the last two years for TeaParty rallies and a Glenn Beck event, all at my own expense. I also ran for local political office last spring and won.  Now my conservative voice carries some weight.  I ran on a platform of holding the line on taxes and holding gov't wages and benefits at their current level.  Any future pension or health insurance upgrades will have to be born by the public sector union employees themselves.  Thank you for asking and good luck to you in your future endeavours, as long as you operate within the law.  God Bless

The dry heartless hypocrisy you call Christianity drags the name through the mud across the world.

The don't-tread-on-me mindset of the manipulated and assinine tea party crowd, the unutterable stupidity of Republican politicians, the duplicitous cowardice of Democrats is not up to the monumental challenges that America needs to face, to once again make your country great.

Great leadership will not be found in goons like Perry who shout their prayers at God in great convocations, who pronounce their faith in God but rather put their trust in Smith and Wesson. It will be found in people who, at great personal risk will stand up in the face of violent suppression by the state, and stand sufficiently confident in the rightness of their cause to do it without weapons, and without fear.

They, not people like you who quote scripture with ironic ignorance, are truly the ones who will inherit the earth.

I have never been a churchgoer, but I believe in a higher power I prefer to call God.  What is wrong with asking for God's good graces upon others when they are mis-guided?  I was a democrat for 28 years before rethinking my political affiliation.  I left them for obvious reasons.  Today I am a TeaParty member and I choose to fight inhouse with the republican party instead.
