There is a great sense of denial in Europe
via TVR
From Bill Mitchell:
"Over the last week or so I have been in Europe and talking to all sorts of people. In the streets the decay is clear and I am in a relatively rich part of Europe (Maastricht). Unsold properties are multiplying and the there are lots of shopping space vacant in the main centres. It is very apparent to me but when I ask people about this some express surprise – not having noticed it themselves. I concede that when you come here once a year you note the changes but the reality is fairly stark. If we put this anecdotal evidence together with the way in which the Euro bosses are behaving and the overall quality of the policy debate in Europe at present it is clear to me that there is a great sense of denial in Europe. Nowhere is this more apparent than in
Germany. Their growth model has failed and must change. But it will be very difficult to achieve the sort of national awareness that will render that change possible. The Eurozone was always going to fall apart as a result of its basic design flaws from its inception. But the German strategy – which they consider to be a source of national pride – actually ensured that once the basic design flaws were exposed by the collapse of aggregate demand, things would be much worse than otherwise."
"The only way forward for the world economy is to stimulate aggregate demand. The high savings of Germans (and the Dutch for example) which then rely on the dis-saving of other nations to maintain some semblance of growth is not consistent with the way in which the Euro bosses are handling this crisis."
"There is a great sense of denial here in Europe which I have picked up strongly over the last week. The dots are not being connected. Somehow analysts think that killing off Greece will help Germany maintain its export-led growth strategy."

Not so. When the consumers run out of gold they'll sell their children, their land, their factories, and eventually themselves to pay for their habits.
Among other things, very many Europeans grew up without fathers after the two wars - many millions of fatherless children. They came to hold the state as daddy in a deeper way than even the ridiculous statists in the US.
For "the system" to fail means that a primary foundation of their emotional lives has failed... or something akin to that. Deep denial follows.
CH1, had a strong visceral reaction to your post, realizing that you are right. I'm not a Euro, but I can only imagine what years of war, and the relatively recent brutality in the former Yugoslavia did to the surviving women and children. I wonder if they're well past the denial stage.
And the stunning realization that the children running the US have no idea what they're pushing w/increasing feminization and statism, or why, and no idea of the consequences. Especially why, other than "they're doing it in Euroland, so it must be cool/right", let's do that.
Then looked around at societies like the Muslim world and China, that are not particularly feminized.
Brought home that we're headed for interesting times, especially given the lightweights, frauds and dilletantes currently running much of the "developed" world.
Didn't get more afraid, already know we're fucked, but helped to understand.
Thank you.
But I'm sure that Christine, Hillary, (Zoe?), Angela, Barak, et al. will make it all good for the developed, Western world.
WTF, increasing feminization??? You mean whore moans?
Extend that thought to China where the one child policy has produced not 'useless eaters' but 'useless peckers' by the millions. All those males, with no pussy, are going to be pretty short tempered. And will make an military force of an even more overwhelming size than China already has.
When a bazillion of those hot and horney chinese hit the shores it won't be just hide the women and children.
Is it possible that China had this future in mind when implementing that policy?
All those males, with no pussy, are going to be pretty short tempered. And will make an military force of an even more overwhelming size than China already has.

Somehow, denial by US citizens will always push the limit.
How many military men in the US are not married?
What is the percentage of married people in the US military and later for people who left the military?
There is one kind of military group with a rather low(compared to the others) marriage percentage: special forces.
US citizens are able to build any kind of pattern that are nothing but a sheer satisfaction of their fantasies.
It is highly likely that if those guys join the military, they will marry.
But whatever, it is a comment section about denial. And US citizens have shown they are never short on denial.
You're welcome, Curly, pleased to have helped. :)

There's a great sense of denial in the U.S. too. Most people I talk to don't think we are in serious trouble.
When the states run out of money next year and start massive lay-offs causing a shortage of services that
people have taken for granted, maybe then they will see how bad things really are.
They do not think like we do. They understand that a little deflation is good.
Our FED Bankster Cartel, (not of the government), believes inflation is a blessing to the elite. Fuck the Poor Bastards. Eh....
Most people in the so-called "developed world" are as much in denial as the Europeans, apparently.
In the window of my local Brezen shop there is an 'explanation' to why the prices have risen for far so quicky, it lists
Russian forest fires, drought in Canada, social unrest in the Middle East, transportation cost(fuel cost) etc. guess what what word is missing ? 'Monetary-inflation' I bet the averge person on the street has no clue as to what the definition of monetary inflation is and even less to where it comes from and most don't care either, they will soon learn the hard way
Denial or normalcy bias. Just look at the US government. The reason there is denial here is because the borrowing has kept the monkey off everyone's back for half a century. After all, the guberment checks keep coming we are fighting 3 wars; schools are open; people (generally) are not starving. The money will dry up and austerity will hit us harder than 9-11.
I can think of no greater help to your neighbor than to warn them; but "like in the days of Noah" no one believed it would rain that hard. (The point is normalcy bias is recorded in some our ancient texts) - with predictable results.
Planes fly just fine.
If a plane flies too high lift is compromised
Everything is OK if you just fly faster, until you reach diminishing returns.
It is so with an economic model based on perpetual growth.

I am sure your dad told you this story of the guy with the P-51 at the Airport. I first heard this in 1951/52 from your Father. This would be when your dad and mine worked at Associated Air Taxi. After the war this guy your dad knew bought this P-51 with the big Merlin engine. The Mustang was tied up in the field of the airport. Your dad said this guy did not have a lot of money and should not have bought this plane. You know your dad, funny guy. Never said a lot. In this case I think he should have. He said that about once a week this guy would come to the airport and put 5 gallons of gas from a 5 gallon can. He would then take off and fly once around the airport and land. He would do this just so the plane would not just sit there and slowly fall apart. Your dad said he saw this guy do this week after week and he would just shake his head. He said then one day he saw him put 5 gallons of gas in the plane, take off to go around the airport. This time he only got halfway around and the plane ran out of gas. He said the plane fell like a rock straight down nose first. Of course there was no fire he said because there was no gas. He was laughing about the crazy bugger. First he said 5 gallons of gas was only about enough to start the bloody thing. He said there must have been gas left in the planes tanks also but when this was gone down it came. He also said a P-51 well not glide. The Merlin engine is so heavy that when it stops it becames nose heavy and heads for the ground fast. What I always wondered is why he didn't tell the guy he was going to die. Knowing your dad I guess that is a silly question. Ok, love and kisses. grant

Jobcentres to send poor and hungry to charity food banksChristian trust is set to hand out parcels to 100,000 this year
By Jonathan Owen and Brian Brady

Tens of thousands of benefits claimants will be referred to food banks by the Government, which is worried that many Britons face a stark choice: starvation or feeding themselves by begging or stealing.

Anyone planning to attend the 2012 olympiads would do well to pack one in order to defend themselves from the savage destitute starving locals.
