This how they are going to stop cash buys, starting in Loussiana.

Ur cash is no good there for by second hand goods...this will force people to have a bank account, this shows that this clearly a threat to TPTB..move ur money to a credit union, or simply start and account at the local bank using a check from ur big name bank, no need to be present at the big name bank to close it.

************

House bill 195 basically says those who buy and sell second hand goods cannot use cash to make those transactions, and it flew so far under the radar most businesses don't even know about it.

These types of vids are the reason why everytime I get paid, I take the majority of my cash out (except for the cash I use to pay bills).  Fazing out my BOA account as of now, going to finally be great to get off the banking tit, even if a small bank is a bit more inconvient.

BTW, the way the corporate, fascist state is going, the banking "secret police" are going to start arresting people for NOT having a bank account.

In the event of a banking collapse, surely this will tip Community Banks etc over the edge.

Isn't it better to keep your cash at home - no counterparty risk.

What about online gold and silver accounts (eg GoldMoney and BuliionVault) aren't they a risk.

Not just for an electronic 'blip' but they have to be linked to a regular account for withdrawals.

If the banks are down, at best your funds are stuck in these accounts, unable to withdraw to cash.

Only physical ownership is safe.

Any thoughts on this?

The Parliment in Iceland passed bills agreeing to the repayment of UK and dutch bank depositors in Iceland banks, 2 times, the President of Iceland would not sign the bill into law 2 times. Not signing the bill automatically calls for a referendum in Iceland, a particpatory demacracy and it failed both times. GBA and RICO all banksters, their protistute politicians and the current DOJ.

I don't believe that people were arrested for closing citi bank accounts.

But speaking of t-shirts, WB.  Since Marla seems to be gone I sure wish you could take over the t-shirt peddling portion of ZH so we could have some better choices.  Not only does there need to be some more creativity, the shirt quality and style suck.  I'm sure you could add $5 a shirt or something for your expertise and far, far more people would buy them.  You could design the official #OccupyWallSt shirt!  They could be sold all over the world.

Just a thought.

"So, you can laugh at or disparage the demonstrators all you want. You can call them spoiled, silly or sophomoric. You can single out the fringe and think it’s representative of the whole. But that won’t change the fact that this demonstration has touched a nerve. A rag-tag group is standing up where the government, regulators, media and business elites have rolled-over and played dead. They are shining a light on the financial cancer at the heart of America."

Or, maybe try to understand that we still have 400,000 new unemployment claims each week, 52 week per year.  That is almost 21 million people losing jobs in the last year.  Most will get another job within a year, but at far lower average pay.  The government CLAIMS we make about 100,000 new jobs in a month recently, but that mostly comes from birth/death and seasonal adjustments, and even if the nation did add 100,000 new jobs that would not absorb the 1.7 million job losers each month, nor the 400,000 job seekers hitting the labor market for the first time every single month.  Every month/week/day the labor market gets rapidly worse.  And all that competition for so few jobs means falling wages.  Incomes are dropping like a stone in freefall.  I suspect people will not throw shit into the fan because holidays are almost on us, but they are not going to be happy about pressed turkey and instant mashed potatos at the local mission.  By the time the first balloting starts late winter/early spring there will be fury in the air.  It is just a feeling I get and an impression based on a lot of public behaviors I see these days.  Those who do not internalize the poverty and desperation externalize it and act out.

I talked to a construction carpenter when watching the movement on CNN.  He told me that they ae not all "lazy bums", but like he, are tired of being broke as there is no work.

The next morning I spoke to another fellow who basically believed they were "breaking the law" and that it was a "marxist" movement.

I reminded him about the constituion and the right to assembly.  I also told him that communism has failed and cited the USSR and China as examples, where both are moving or have moved to Western idealogies.

Somehow, I feel that this will not be shortlived as the bellief systems which polarize America today almost guarantee that no one will be able to work out a solution acceptable to either side...

I still think this thing is going to end with participatory added to governments worldwide to give the people more control of their governments.  Remember Iceland used a referendum to not bail out their banks.  But besides that, you all the time here the calling for "real democracy." Participatory democracy is what they mean.

If I remember right the Eurozone was trying to force the government of Iceland to bankrupt the nation by nationalizing the banks and honoring the debts and losses they ran up and the president said no F'ing way am I going to do that and become the most hated person in Icelandic history, so he had it put to referendum and the people vote againt the Icesave bailout like by 60% .  The other 40% were confused by the butterfly nature of the ballots (printed in Dusseldorf I think).

Edit:  Prime Minister not president, she not he, January 2009... Iceland just named its first lesbian prime minister.  You go girlfriend.

C'mon gals & guys, don't we already know the deal?  The name of this tune is screw the consumers.  These guys have zero respect for their customers.  I loved the quote from the manager in Santa Cruz "You can't be a protester and a customer at the same time." My question is, "Why not. What business is it of the bank whether I'm a protester or not?"

I ran into this earlier this year with U.S. Bank.  I had a 7 month CD under a SEP-IRA with them.  About 4 months into the term, I receive a notice stating they'll start charging a $30 "fee" in about a month.  Long story short, after an in-person visit to the local branch (in which the CSR called the regional supervisor & was put on hold for 20 minutes, later saying "We'll look into it"), then calling the national 800 # and the branch where I opened the account, all to NO AVAIL!

I filed a complaint to the Comptroller of the currency.  About 4 days later I get a letter from U.S. Bank saying "We can legally charge you this but because you're "important" we'll waive the fee this time".

And of course I drew the $ out at the end of the term and put it in my local credit union.

That's what it takes with these bastards.  No wonder millions are pissed off!

Hmmm ... there was a run out of money markets after Lehman failed and the establishment was running around like its hair was on fire.

What would Citigruppe or BAC do with a real bank run? Close?

The establishment is so oblivious to what is taking place all around them that any break from the ordinary-side of ordinary will cause a complete break down. The banks need to be practicing how to deal with different kinds of emergencies and preparing for situations just like this. Instead, they are relying on govt authorities who have even less of a clue.

If the big banks want to discourage depositors, this is how to do it.

BTW, I closed my accounts w/ money center banks a long time ago. Why? Lousy service.

The priorities have always been, and always will be, water, food and shelter, in that order.  Gold and silver have their utility, but without the three priorities secured, trying to find reliable supplies available for purchase is not a certainty. History says that the risk of having to go out in the open to find anything could outweigh the potential reward.  Knowing history is part of being aware of the present.

We tried it in South America... yep they refunded our fees. Finally got my father-in-law out of BAC as well and into Schwab. No arrests. Just relief.
