Two headlines. Similar stories. The first from  Switzerland:

The United States authorities have offered to lift the threat of legal action against 11 Swiss banks in exchange for information, a Swiss paper reported on Sunday.

This is part of a very long story.  The US Justice Department has been doing everything it can to get the names of US citizens who have Swiss bank accounts. The DOJ damn near busted UBS over this a few years back. Now they are going after the other Swiss banks. The lawyers at the DOJ don’t kid around:

“Give us the names or we’ll sue the shit out of you”.

Given what happened to UBS ($780mm in fines), the other banks have no choice but to fold and hand over the info.

This second story ratchets things up a bit and brings it home:(Link)

A federal district court judge has given the Internal Revenue Service permission to serve a “John Doe” summons on the California State Board of Equalization demanding the names of residents who transferred property to their children or grandchildren for little or no money, from 2005 to 2010.

The IRS has used John Doe summons to seek lists of American taxpayers unreported offshore accounts at Swiss Bank UBS and at HSBC’s bank in India.

These pushy techniques have worked  well in Switzerland.  The hard
working folks at the DOJ/IRS are now bringing them to California. This means that the IRS can look at anyone’s real estate transactions. With John Doe warrants, they can go fishing/snooping wherever they like.

Think what you will of this. The country is starved for revenue. The outfit that is charged with collecting that revenue has an army of tough-minded lawyers behind it. It will have the power to turn over stones as it pleases. In the end this effort will raise some additional revenue. It will scare the crap out of a few folks as well. Some will cheer this. I see the John Doe warrants as a big and dangerous step on a very slippery slope. It sure won’t do much for Uncle Sam’s image.

Unrelated Note:

In my forecasts for 2011 I said:

-Kim Jong-Il will die. His son will take over. The heir is a nut, there will be more military exercises that results in shells landing on S. Korea soil. China will make public statements that it is trying to bring order; behind the scenes they will be applauding the chaos.

I got the first part right.  I believe I will be right on the second part too. This could get very messy. Fast.

When I read through parts I and II, I thought that this would make a great Hollywood movie.  At first, reading part I, I thought this must be something from the Onion, it seemed so bizarre, but it is great entertainment in any event.  Then, "it gets worse" in part II when the flying saucers are brought in. Now, I absolutely love plausible conspiracy theories, love reading about UFOs, and crazy stuff like that, which I don't disbelieve, to put it most accurately, because I believe the universe is open to the bizarre and is not some closed set where the laws of rigiid determinism apply. Furthermore, I have said in previous posts that, with regard to the latest mortal sin of congress wherein they decided to make de jure the de facto abrogation of the constitution and the bill of rights, that we must look beneath the surface to discern the reason for this crime of treason, and not just content ourselves with pat explanations, such as saying that the congress is bought and paid for and corrupt. That has more less always been true with heightened corruption at various periods of our history. But this is orders of magnitudes more serious.  At least this conspiracy theory attempts to dig beneath the superficial corruption to find a deeper explanation.  And it seems to tie together a whole series of plauible conspiracy theories about 9/11, Fema camps, etc.  I also liked what it said about the military deciding to clamp down on this out-of-control government or shadow government.  Another blog had mentioned that the two earthquakes, one in Denver and one in Virginia that we recently experienced were in fact the military nuking underground complexes the illuminati were building for themselves and were planning to occupy in very short order as a nuclear war commenced.  Who knows about any of this stuff, but we do know that there is a lot of unexplained stuff and coverups out there that are natural breeding grounds for "conspiracy theories" and these are certainly a more rewarding way to kill time than Dancing with the Stars.

I have done a couple years of seismic work and the waveform of the Virginia earthquake must have been from a blast.  The lack of separate P-wave and S-wave components is a dead giveaway.  The unusually shallow depth and unusually quiet aftershock sequence corroborate this conclusion.

A blast that size must have been a nuke.  Interesting times.

I think I looked for the Denver seismogram at the time but couldn't find it.  Not necessarily suspicious because local geology departments handle this data and sometimes their websites are broken.  Some middle school got a seismogram but it is saturated; can't really be sure if there's only one wave or two.  I do remember that earthquake being suspiciously shallow, just like the VA quake.  There have been a lot of very shallow quakes in southern CO/northern NM since summer and I have yet to see a seismogram besides that one from the schoolkids- admittedly haven't been looking very hard though.  Should probably dig harder for good seismograms on at least a couple some of these.   The area does have faults, recent volcanic activity, and tales of underground UFO bases so without the seismograms, it could be pretty much anything going on down there.

How was the gold aquired by this family from Indonesia? I didn't click on the link. Was it lawful possesion, as you and I would describe lawful? I know a little bit of the history of the country. Its not pretty by my recollection.

Read a little history and do a little math. Spices, Silk, and Porcelain were traded for Gold over a period of several thousand years.

that lawsuit is a red herring.  its not going anywhere, and it won't amount to anything.  I love conspiracy theories... problem is that 90% of them are created to throw people off the real story.  this lawsuit is a case in point.

Dear john39, ref: "lawsuit is a red herring"

It appears the facts alleged in the lawsuit are verifiably true. The defendants admit publishing the documents that will convict them. More importantly the vast fortunes revealed within the facts of the case, and who owns them, also verifiably true, will change the world.

Everyone needs to read this case. Particularly paragraphs 163 to 166, in Section “O” starting on page 74 (page 76 viewed in Adobe Acrobat) which states that: BEGIN QUOTE

Section O. Deed of Authorization and Agreement from Dr. Edy Soekanto

Paragraph 163. In November 2011, KEENAN was issued a deed of Authorization and Agreement (the "Agreement") from Dr. Seno Edy Soekanto, who has sworn to be the "legal heir of record as stated in the last will and testament of the late President Soekamo of Indonesia and heir son of the late Kiyai Hadji Djawahir, as well as the legal holder of the Family Heritance Guarantee, as attached to all the gold deposits as ordered by President Soekamo between 1948 and 1968 when he was granted such Heritance Guarantee as "payment for his services to the World." See ~ 2(iii)( c).

Paragraph 164. Dr. Soekanto swears that President Soekarno had designated to him the responsibility to collect all those funds known as the Family Heritance Guarantee and the accumulated interest thereon and that he has "been acknowledged by depository bank, as evidenced by the bank instruments, books, record and ledgers and codes in his possession, as the sole recognized heir to" the aforesaid fortune. Further, under such Agreement, on account of his "severe and long term chronic illness," he granted to KEENAN the authority to act as one of his Attorneys in Fact "to act jointly and/or severably and to undertake all means and methods to recover the funds owing to me and the People of Indonesia."

Paragraph 165. Dr. Soekanto has further agreed and has confirmed that he holds the "full secret Book of Codes (Maklumat Book) and Ledgers and all Records of the Accounts as delivered" to him and that, upon their request, he will "deliver or cause delivery of the originals of such books for presentment to any court determined to have such jurisdiction" and "for any other purpose" KEENAN may require or need the Books. KEENAN and others under his direction are presently in custody of certified copies of said Book of Codes (Maklumat Book) and Ledgers with the authorizations to use them when needed.

Paragraph 166. These Books and Ledgers define the information that is held in the Federal Reserve screen system. They contain the secret code cyphers and data on legal decisions, treaties and other arrangements. Upon information and belief, they provide information pertaining to all the accounts and sub-accounts that contain the gold and other assets, as well as information pertaining to the financial instruments issued against the gold. Further, they specify and provide the factual information as to what is in the Global Accounts, such as who owns the gold and the source of its ownership. The protection and security of these Books is, therefore, of the utmost importance and central to the authentication and verification process.

END QUOTE

There is too much in that lawsuit that is also corroborated from completely separate sources.

1. there is a massive gold slush-fund, now in the US, consisting of both imperial Chinese gold and Japanese war-loot, never officially accounted for.

2. Treasury bonds and gold certificates were issued against this gold without the intention to ever honor them. This was done by slipping in obvious spelling errors.

Look also for the tribulations of, and an Australian lawsuit by a Soekarno-family representative, trying to make good on some of the certificates.

This is part of a long process to repatriate funds out of offshore tax havens (of course the 'real' money is left alone).

It's tax haven theater, it aims at the retirees overseas with Panamanian accounts (because the banks in S. America are far more corrupt than US banks).

The question is how many pot farms and meth labs are needed in the US? People won't take this lying down: the number one topic of conversation in 'my circle' is how/whether to get into the pot trade. There are so many people in the pot trade in California the prices have sharply declined for good pot.

No good (or any) jobs, no means of earning money, declining benefits, can't move from dying neighborhoods, uneducated children, broken healthcare system, bad food, corrupt governments ... all added together is a recipe for ignoring the system, which causes said system to fail.

At point of failure, it doesn't matter what the law says or who enforces it because the means to collect will have evaporated. Look at the 'upper levels': zero law enforcement, with a fake 'heavy hand' at the bottom.

Zero law enforcement WILL trickle down.

The DOJ sure is efficient when they want to be. I wish they would use these resources prosecuting the criminals that are causing the economy the most harm, starting with the people responsible for stealing the money from MF Global customer accounts. If they used RICO, they could just confiscate the entirety of the culprits' ill gotten gain. Imagine the revenue from Wells Fargo over the money laundering, from B of A and others over the mortgage and foreclosure fraud.

All Switzerland has to do is say "We'll release the list, but we'll only do it in a very public way by publishing the full list of names on the internet." Given the number of high profile US politicians [*cough* Biden *cough*] hiding wealth overseas, that's probably the last we'd hear of the threats from the IRS.

Bingo ! Apparently the Swiss proposed that to the French. The French refused. The Swiss said either no names, just the amounts and we do a global deal between governments; like that, we don"t lose our clients. Or we go public with the whole list. And this includes all the government officials as well. (This second option was an offer that the Swiss knew the others couldn't accept. So it was a false flag operation to rile, discourage, the french). The french refused both options. A partial list got published in the press through a private hack to break bureaucratic deadlock. It created a scandal. Both the french and the Swiss blamed the other for the partial list. Typical CIA/KGB stuff. Corrupt big brother, frustated, paranoid play. It seems that no country escapes this disease. MAybe in Bhutan, where they don't believe in GDP, but in GHP.
