W2.0:Rick Perry Wants To Try Ben Bernanke For Treason
Texas Governor Rick Perry suggested in Iowa today that should Bernanke "print more money" before the election that it would be treason. Treason is a capital offense.
Speaking just now in Iowa, Perry said, “If this guy prints more money between now and the election, I dunno what y’all would do to him in Iowa but we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas. Printing more money to play politics at this particular time in history is almost treasonous in my opinion.” Treason is a capital offense.
One is not sure if Governor Perry is taking aim at monetary policy here or trying to win over Ron Paul supporters. However, advocating violence against a sitting Federal Reserve Chairman does not really sound all that Presidential.
Someone might also want to remind the Governor that suggesting Texas secede from the Union might also be construed as Treason. But I digress.
I don't know about you gang but I am really looking forward to 16 more months of rhetoric, hyperbole and all things related to the $3B auction, Americans so innocently refer to as the presidential election of 2012

Mr. Hoenig has been pretty much alone among Fed presidents in publicly calling to break up large banks that are too big to succeed.
“Extremely powerful institutions, both financially and politically, undermine the long-term strength of our system and make us look like a financial oligarchy,”
This view, of course, receives little applause in Washington and on Wall Street.
Mr. Hoenig has espoused this view for more than a decade, and he has grown accustomed to being ignored or criticized for it.
Back in 1996, in a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, he presciently warned about the dangers of expanding the federal safety net to cover financial institutions trading complex derivatives and structured finance vehicles.
Pushing for a new regulatory regime that would deny a safety net to institutions engaged in risky activities, he told the attendees: “The threat of failure keeps a bank honest and inhibits it and the industry from trending toward excessive risks.
Without this market discipline provided by creditors willing to withdraw their funds when they suspect a bank of being unsafe, banks have an incentive to take excessive risks.”
Mr. Hoenig’s prescription was to bar institutions that engage in risky business from offering government-backed deposits and to minimize their access to emergency Fed loans.
Although he has been vindicated in this view, big bankers howled and regulators yawned at the time.
“I was trying to point out that these kinds of activities are beyond management’s control,” he recalled, “and that if you want to do this, you cannot have the taxpayers subsidizing it.”

Well Lizzy.....
Get the facts straight.
Did he say "treason" or "almost treasonous"
Big difference ther girl..............................!
facts? FACTS? This, here's the legal smear press of the USofA!! Don't need no facts (or sane thinking), just BLAST AWAY!
If I call a woman "bitchy" vs. calling her a "bitch" the end result is similar.
Bitchy can be explained due to circumstance; bitch is a judgement you will never live down.
LOL. No doubt this guy will be deep-throating Bernanke's (or his successor's) corndog for more and more printing press money if he were to win the presidency.
Another hypocritical politician. They are all in favor of spending that benefits THEM - and hate it if it does not.
As far as criminal acts go - Johnson debased our coinage - a capital offense according to the Constitution, while Nixon abrogated Bretton Woods and defaulted on US obligations to repay its debts in gold. After delinking the dollar to gold, inflation has taken a never ending and accelerated upward track. While Bernanke has done untold damage, pretty much every Fed and Treasury official (and our elected officials) have gone along with the ongoing devaluation of the $US.
With most Americans in debt (instead of having savings), I suspect they too are in favor of inflating the value of their debts away. The savers - and pensioners - dependent on preserving the buying power of their funds are the ones regularly screwed by inflation. Thise that manage to prepare and anticipate these losses are punished by egregious taxation on what buying power they preserve (there's a reason capital gains are not indexed for inflation)
Per US Coinage Act 1792, debasing the currency is a "felony" and punishable by death.
It is not an act of treason.
Another typical politician. In favor of saying whatever the fuck they want you to hear, so they can get in office. I'm not gonna question the man's faith, but that's a low liar who uses his Christianity to pander, knowing damn good and well the elites have him bought, and stupid if he doesn't know that they're buildin' burgers for the one world Govt, some Christians familliar with the last book in the Bible call that Anti-Christ. Just sayin'.
Exactly. And don't forget the working and middle classes whose wages and salaries aren't keeping up with food and energy prices.
Get a house with a 30-year fixed mortgage and then start stockpiling gold, food, guns & ammo!
TREASON is defined in the U.S. Constitution. It has a VERY narrow meaning and requires unique proof. This is just another NO-MIND political HACK tossing around words; like RACIST, TERRORIST, etc.
Perry, shut the hell up!
US Constitution Article III, Section 3,
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort....
Indeed, the courts have upheld the notion the US must be in a state of declared war in order to have an "enemy" and precludes anyone being tried for treason.
Treason is the only crime defined in the Constitution. Why? So Congress could not redefine it. Our Founders feared congress might use the threat of treason to oppress the people.
Rick Perry should read the US Constitution.
Founders,
Maybe you should read the Declaration of Independence............
What did the TERRORISTS(I mean Founders write there?),about when it could/ would be time to haul ass?.
*not worth the time*
Besides, to commit treason one has to be an American, and Bernanke is from the State of the Federal Reserve, which, as Greenspan said, does not abide by American constitution.
To be tried for treason one must be a US citizen OR a resident alien.
(But, your point is not lost on me.)
Pray tell that we shoot the messenger, or cut off our nose to spite our face or fire a shot across the bow or have our oponent in the crosshairs. That would be a capital offense.
welcome to the party lizzy. looking forward to your contributions. that is, if i don't do a rumplestilskin until winter solstice 2012 to avoid this crap altogether.
Aw, hell.
I just got done dumping all over Perry
http://www.wcvarones.com/2011/08/tea-partiers-hate-rick-perry.html
... and now he threatens to go medieval on Zimbabwe Ben's ass.
I'd love to see the American public go Medieval on Bernank's azz.
praise the Lord - amen to that.
"...advocating violence against a sitting Federal Reserve Chairman does not really sound all that Presidential."
EXACTLY! That's why a LOT of people want to hear more from Perry. He's probably a fraud, but it will be hard to hide until 11/12 if he is.
You lost all cred at "However, advocating violence..."
Barring a dead girl/live boy....
That is the next President of the USA.
Mark it down.
There's one now! Phew!
I am not a supporter of Perry, and doubt the sincerity of his public statements.
Having said this, I would throw my full weight and support behind Perry or anyone else's goal of putting the Federal Reserve under a complete, piercing microscope, disbanding it, and if any violations of law have been committed, fully and aggressively prosecuting the institution and its members.
We must end the Federal Reserve and return to a system of rational banking practices, and also return to limiting the ability of government to print infinite amounts of currency, thus creating the nefarious boom and bust cycles that further concentrate wealth not on capitalistic principals, but Crony Capitalistic ones.
We must also find the means to break the strangle hold that the military-financial-banking-industrial complex has on our system of government and the decisions that our elected representatives make; I am not saying corporate entities not be able to petition the government for redress, but I am saying that their voice should not drown out or displace the inherent needs of the citizenry and and nation as a whole.
Exactly. Pitch perfect, even.
Read his lips: No new FRNs.
Great user name Wilfahrt.
Mis-pronounce Shirley as Surely, and its even better! ;-)
After eating some braum's chili, I surely will fart. :<0
President Perry would have to beg congress to raise the debt ceiling by $4 or 5 trillion lest the world economy implode.........
that would be fun to watch.........
I'll vote for secession, but I won't vote for Perry.
Unfortunately, I think Perry is the one who's gotten the nod. I haven't watched a video or heard him speak (and I don't care too), but I can see from his arrogant smile in press photos that he already knows.
Before we talk about Rick Perry’s commitment to prayer and fasting, let’s find out if Rick Perry believes that there must be a Declaration of War before America begins invading, bombing, and occupying foreign countries. Let’s find out if he believes he has the authority as President to use US military forces against American citizens. Let’s find out if he believes he has the authority to give billions and trillions of dollars away to foreign countries. Let’s find out if he plans to commit US military forces to the whims of the United Nations Security Council. Let’s find out if he supports the Military Commissions Act. Let’s find out if he supports the Patriot Act. Let’s find out if he believes the US government has the authority to use super-computers and advanced technology to continue to turn the United States into a giant surveillance-society. Let’s find out how serious he is about closing that southern border: speaking of which, what did Rick Perry do as governor of the border State of Texas to stop illegal immigration? And while we are on the subject of Border States, what did Rick Perry do to stop the NAFTA superhighway? Before we get excited about Rick Perry being a “good Christian,” let’s find out if he supports the Council of Governors, or the North American Union, or the Continuity of Government, or Agenda 21. Let’s find out if Perry will launch a Justice Department investigation into the ATF’s (under Barack Obama and Eric Holder) clandestine operation of providing firearms to Mexican drug gangs. We could go on and on with these kinds of questions.

Then we are fucked. Period.
I'm afraid Rick Perry will try to bite my neck. And not in a good way.
if he goes all the way he will be straightened out. the map is not the territory, the stock market is not the economy, and the candidate is not the elected official. rely on that!
i am terrified of just about every candidate right now, including paul who i like on many levels. this guy is a bit ridiculous, tho.
and with that, I have had enough wine and nyqull to pass out.
YC2,
Robotrippin on a Monday night? Purple drank!
I think Mr Gold Standard my congressmen, "Let the free markets work" Ron Paul will get the nod.
Butl let me tell you how Paul answered an emai I sent to him when crude oil was 150 dollars a barrel. I asked him to intervene and make the CFTC do the right thing and reign in the speculators.
His answer "Let the free markets work". So he is just like the rest of the worthless, panhandling candidates, including Mr. Cheerleader Perry, and Corndog eating Bachman. all worthless. Almos as worthless as the Bus riding glad handler.
Where is Jesse the body Ventura, at least he wont take the lobbyist money.
Ron Paul wasn't sucking up to Big Oil lobbyists, he was just hewing to his ideology. He doesn't get much money from them. The Koch Bros. hate his gutz. He gets his contributions from Joe and Jill SixPacs (like me!) who are sick of stuffed shirt and skirt neocon scumbags and recognize real quality. You are blessed and you don't know it. None are so blind as those who cannot see. If you asked Jesse Ventura who he supports you'll find it is Ron Paul. Wake the fuck up and smell the coffee!

PS: Good luck with the jerks at the CFTC. I knew they were crooks 30 years ago. They are a waste of good oxygen.
Odd, since we all know that Perry would hit his knees and worship Zimbabwe Ben the moment he was elected. I kinda always figured the "God" he prays to is Karl Rove, but hey I could be wrong.
Part of me would like to think that Americans aren't quite stupid enough to vote in another big government Texas governor. But one never lost money betting on the stupidity of the masses, particularly in the US.
Was it your crystal ball that told you what Perry would do in the future?
Or are you just full of shit?
Well said, sir! (And I am from Texas)
Problem iz...ol' "Turd Blossom" is backing Perry...and we all remember how that turned out in 2000.
And where has Perry been all these years Dr. Paul has been shining a light on the FED?
After a full fledged panic we'll be begging Ben to print. "Do something, anything! Whatever you have to!"
I don't like Perry. He has Globalist opportunist written all over him. We have a punk assed narcissist one worlder as President now. RP is about as likely to get the nod as is Paul 'asshat' Krugman to disavow communism/regressivism (sorry).......progressivism/Keynesian voodooism.
As it stands we are truly screwed.
What we need is a good "Alien Invasion"......... ;)
Saving my vote for Kodos! :>D
Something to ponder:
http://www.infowars.com/14-reasons-why-rick-perry-would-be-a-really-really-bad-president-2/
Sure does have the smell of Ron Paultards around here lately. Further left than King barack Hussain the first, masters of throwing vulgar comments at others without bothering to mention what THEY stand for - not that they can, because they don't. Sounds kind of like the empty suit currently in office, and the DNC in general.
So let me get this straight, everyone here DISAGREES with what was said about Bernake? They LIKE him destroying the USD? Skitzoids..
